It is known that a multiloop Lie algebra, which constructed using multiloop realization, can be a Lie torus if the given multiloop Lie algebra satisfies several conditions, and it is also known that a family of extended affine Lie algebras (EALAs) are obtained from a Lie torus. In many cases, however, even if a given multiloop Lie algebra does not satisfy these conditions, we can also construct a family of EALAs from it. In this paper, we study this construction, and prove that two families of EALAs constructed from two multiloop Lie algebras coincide up to isomorphisms as EALAs if and only if two multiloop Lie algebras are "support-isomorphic". Also, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for two multiloop Lie algebras to be support-isomorphic.
Let M_n be the class of all multiloop algebras of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras relative to n-tuples of commuting finite order automorphisms. It is a classical result that M_1 is the class of all derived algebras modulo their centres of affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. This combined with the Peterson-Kac conjugacy theorem for affine algebras results in a classification of the algebras in M_1. In this paper, we classify the algebras in M_2, and further determine the relationship between M_2 and two other classes of Lie algebras: the class of all loop algebras of affine Lie algebras and t…
An important theorem in the theory of infinite dimensional Lie algebras states that any affine Kac-Moody algebra can be realized (that is to say constructed explicitly) using loop algebras. In this paper, we consider the corresponding problem for a class of Lie algebras called extended affine Lie algebras (EALAs) that generalize affine algebras. EALAs occur in families that are constructed from centreless Lie tori, so the realization problem for EALAs reduces to the realization problem for centreless Lie tori. We show that all but one family of centreless Lie tori can be realized using multilo…
We give a detailed description of the torsors that correspond to multiloop algebras. These algebras are twisted forms of simple Lie algebras extended over Laurent polynomial rings. They play a crucial role in the construction of Extended Affine Lie Algebras (which are higher nullity analogues of the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras). The torsor approach that we take draws heavily for the theory of reductive group schemes developed by M. Demazure and A. Grothendieck. It also allows us to find a bridge between multiloop algebras and the work of J. Tits on reductive groups over complete local fields…
Global and local Weyl modules for the untwisted multiloop Lie algebras were defined by Chari, the first and the second author via homological properties. In this paper we extended the ideas to give a categorical definition of the Weyl modules for twisted multiloop algebras. Our methods led us to describe an identification of the finite--dimensional highest weight modules for twisted multiloop algebras with suitably chosen finite--dimensional highest weight modules for untwisted multiloop algebras.
Multiloop algebras determined by $n$ commuting algebra automorphisms of finite order are natural generalizations of the classical loop algebras that are used to realize affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. In this paper, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a $Z^n$-graded algebra to be realized as a multiloop algebra based on a finite dimensional simple algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for two such multiloop algebras to be graded-isomorphic, up to automorphism of the grading group. We prove these facts as …
In this paper we study the isomorphism problem for centreless Lie tori that are fgc (finitely generated as modules over their centroid). These Lie tori play a important role in the theory of extended affine Lie algebras and of multiloop Lie algebras. We introduce four isomorphism invariants for fgc centreless Lie tori, and use them together with known structural results to investigate the classification problem for fgc centreless Lie tori up to isomorphism.
We give sufficient conditions for the descent construction to be the universal central extension of a twisted form of a split simple Lie algebra over a ring. In particular, the universal central extensions of twisted multiloop Lie tori are obtained by the descent construction.
We investigate a new class of Lie algebras, which are tame locally extended affine Lie algebras of nullity 1. It is an infinite-rank analog of affine Lie algebras, and their centerless cores are a local version of loop algebras. Such algebras are called locally affine Lie algebras and locally loop algebras. We classify both of them.
A Vogan diagram is a Dynkin diagram of a Kac-Moody Lie algebra of finite or affine type overlayed with additional structures. This paper develops the theory of Vogan diagrams for almost compact real forms of indecomposable twisted affine Kac- Moody Lie algebras and shows that equivalence classes of Vogan diagrams correspond to isomorphism classes of almost compact real forms of twisted affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras as given by H. Ben Messaoud and G. Rousseau.
This paper deals with the problem of conjugacy of Cartan subalgebras for affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. Unlike the methods used by Peterson and Kac, our approach is entirely cohomological and geometric. It is deeply rooted on the theory of reductive group schemes developed by Demazure and Grothendieck, and on the work of J. Tits on buildings.
We give an explicit description of the Lie algebra of derivations for a class of infinite dimensional algebras which are given by étale descent. The algebras under consideration are twisted forms of central algebras over rings, and include the multiloop algebras that appear in the construction of extended affine Lie algebras.
We study étale descent of derivations of algebras with values in a module. The algebras under consideration are twisted forms of algebras over rings, and apply to all classes of algebras, notably associative and Lie algebras, such as the multiloop algebras that appear in the construction of extended affine Lie algebras.
In this paper we study some affine structures on nilpotent Lie algebras endowed with a contact form. These affine structures are constructed from an affine structure on a symplectic Lie algebra by a central extension.
We develop general results on centroids of Lie algebras and apply them to determine the centroid of extended affine Lie algebras, loop-like and Kac-Moody Lie algebras, and Lie algebras graded by finite root systems.
We construct irreducible modules for twisted toroidal Lie algebras and extended affine Lie algebras. This is done by combining the representation theory of untwisted toroidal algebras with the technique of thin coverings of modules. We illustrate our method with examples of extended affine Lie algebras of Clifford type.
We propose a new simplified definition of extended affine Lie algebras (EALAs for short), and also discuss a general version of extended affine Lie algebras, called locally extended affine Lie algebras (LEALAs for short). We prove a conjecture by V. Kac for LEALAs. It turns out that the root system of a LEALA becomes a locally finite version of extended affine root systems. Finally, several examples of new EALAs and LEALAs are introduced, and we classify LEALAs of nullity 0 with connection to locally finite split simple Lie algebras.
The existence of nondegenerate invariant bilinear forms is one of the most important tools in the study of Kac-Moody Lie algebras and extended affine Lie algebras. In practice, these forms are created, or shown to exist, either by assumption or in an ad hoc basis. The purpose of this work is to describe the nature of the space of invariant bilinear forms of certain algebras given by faithfully flat descent (which includes the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras, as well as Azumaya algebras and multiloop algebras) within a functorial framework. This will allow us to conclude the existence, uniqueness…
We give a description of the center of the affine nilTemperley-Lieb algebra based on a certain grading of the algebra and on a faithful representation of it on fermionic particle configurations. We present a normal form for monomials, hence construct a basis of the algebra, and use this basis to show that the affine nilTemperley-Lieb algebra is finitely generated over its center. As an application, we obtain a natural embedding of the affine nilTemperley-Lieb algebra on N generators into the affine nilTemperley-Lieb algebra on N + 1 generators.
Locally affine Lie algebras are generalizations of affine Kac--Moody algebras with Cartan subalgebras of infinite rank whose root system is locally affine. In this note we study a class of representations of locally affine algebras generalizing integrable highest weight modules. In particular, we construct such an integrable representation for each integral weight not vanishing on the center and show that, over the complex numbers, we thus obtain unitary representations w.r.t. a unitary real form. We also use Yoshii's recent classification of locally affine root systems to derive a classificat…
Natural analogs of Lie brackets on affine bundles are studied, based on natural examples from differential geometry and analytical mechanics. In particular, a close relation to Lie algebroids and, by a sort of duality, to affine analogs of Poisson structures is established as well as affine versions of the complete lift of a section and the Cartan exterior calculus.
Construction of the diagrammatic version of the affine Temperley-Lieb algebra of type $\widetilde{A_N}$ as a subring of matrices over the Laurent polynomials is given. We move towards geometrical understanding of cellular structure of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. We represent its center as a coordinate ring of the certain affine algebraic variety and describe this variety constructing its desingularization.
The complete affine structures on abelian Lie algebras in small dimensions are well known. In this paper we are interested by the non complete case. In particular we classify all these structures in dimensions 2 and 3.
The goal of this paper is to explicitly describe in terms of generators and relations the universal central extension of the infinite dimensional Lie algebra, $\mathfrak{g} \otimes \mathbb{C}[t,t^{-1},u]$ with finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and $u^m=p(t)$.
We introduce post-Lie algebra structures on pairs of Lie algebras $(\Lg,\Ln)$ defined on a fixed vector space $V$. Special cases are LR-structures and pre-Lie algebra structures on Lie algebras. We show that post-Lie algebra structures naturally arise in the study of NIL-affine actions on nilpotent Lie groups. We obtain several results on the existence of post-Lie algebra structures, in terms of the algebraic structure of the two Lie algebras $\Lg$ and $\Ln$. One result is, for example, that if there exists a post-Lie algebra structure on $(\Lg,\Ln)$, where $\Lg$ is nilpotent, then $\Ln$ must …
We study certain types of ideals in the standard Borel subalgebra of an untwisted affine Lie algebra. We classify these ideals in terms of the root combinatorics and give an explicit formula for the number of such ideals in type $A$. The formula involves various aspects of combinatorics of Dyck paths and leads to a new interesting integral sequence.
We obtain a characterization of the real Lie algebras admitting abelian complex structures in terms of certain affine Lie algebras $\frak a \frak f \frak f (A)$, where $A$ is a commutative algebra. These affine Lie algebras are natural generalizations of $\frak a \frak f \frak f (\Bbb C)$ and the corresponding Lie groups are complex affine manifolds. It turns out that all 4-dimensional Lie algebras carrying abelian complex structures are central extensions of such affine Lie algebras.
We classify integrable irreducible $\hat{g}[σ]$-modules in categories E and C, where E is proved to contain the well known evaluation modules and C to unify highest weight modules, evaluation modules and their tensor product modules.
We give some examples of non-complete invariant affine connections on nilpotent and filiform Lie groups. This permits to describe non-nilpotent faithful representations on the model of filiform n-dimensional Lie algebras and, in particular, on the 3 dimensional Heisenberg algebra.
We give an introduction to the structure theory of extended affine Lie algebras, which provide a common framework for finite-dimensional semisimple, affine and toroidal Lie algebras. The notes are based on a lecture series given during the Fields Institute summer school at the University of Ottawa in June 2009.
