In this note we study the relationship between the power series expansion of the Dwork exponential and the Mahler expansion of the $p$-adic Gamma function. We exploit this relationship to prove that certain quantities that appeared in our previous computations of the Frobenius map can be expressed in terms of the derivatives of the $p$-adic Gamma function at 0. This is used to prove a conjecture about the non-trivial off-diagonal entry in the Frobenius matrix of the mirror quintic threefold.
Presenting p-adic numbers as {\em deformations} of finite fields allows a better understanding of Frobenius lifts and their connection with p-derivations in the sense of Buium \cite{Buium-Main}. In this way "numbers {\em are} functions", as recognized before \cite{Manin:Numbers}, allowing to view initial structure deformation problems as arithmetic differential equations as in \cite{Buium-Manin}, and providing a cohomological interpretation to Buium calculus via Hochschild cohomology which controls deformations of algebraic structures. Applications to p-adic periods are considered, including t…
In \cite{mccarthy2}, McCarthy defined a function $_{n}G_{n}[\cdots]$ using Teichmüller character of finite fields and quotients of $p$-adic gamma function, and expressed the trace of Frobenius of elliptic curves in terms of special values of $_{2}G_{2}[\cdots]$. We establish two different expressions for the traces of Frobenius of elliptic curves in terms of the function $_{2}G_{2}[\cdots]$. As a result, we obtain two relations between special values of the function $_{2}G_{2}[\cdots]$ with different parameters.
We define a function in terms of quotients of the $p$-adic gamma function which generalizes earlier work of the author on extending hypergeometric functions over finite fields to the $p$-adic setting. We prove, for primes $p > 3$, that the trace of Frobenius of any elliptic curve over $\mathbb{F}_p$, whose $j$-invariant does not equal 0 or 1728, is just a special value of this function. This generalizes results of Fuselier and Lennon which evaluate the trace of Frobenius in terms of hypergeometric functions over $\mathbb{F}_p$ when $p \equiv 1 \pmod {12}$.
Coleman calculated the absolute Frobenius on Fermat curves explicitly. In this paper we show that a kind of $p$-adic continuity implies a large part of his formula. To do this, we study a relation between functional equations of the ($p$-adic) gamma function and monomial relations on ($p$-adic) CM-periods.
The notion of a $p$-adic superspace is introduced and used to give a transparent construction of the Frobenius map on $p$-adic cohomology of a smooth projective variety over $\zp$ (the ring of $p$-adic integers), as well as an alternative construction of the crystalline cohomology of a smooth projective variety over $\fp$ (finite field with $p$ elements).
Given a smooth formal scheme over the ring of integers of a mixed-characteristic perfectoid field, we study its $p$-adic vanishing cycles via de Rham--Witt and $q$-de Rham complexes.
There is a notion of $p$-adic period coming from the crystalline Frobenius automorphism of the de Rham cohomology of an algebraic variety. In this paper, we consider sequences of $p$-adic periods, one for each prime. We study the sequences using motivic periods, and we formulate an analogue of the Grothendieck period conjecture.
In this paper, we investigate some new symmetric identities for the q-Euler polynomials under the symmetric group of degree n which are derived from fermionic p-adic q-integrals on Zp.
In this paper, we give a fermionic p-adic integral representions of Benstein polynomials associated with Euler numbers and polynomials. Finally, we give some interesting identities for the Euler numbers by using the properties of our integral represention.
The purpose of this paper is to present a systemic study of some families of q-Euler numbers and polynomials of Norlund's type by using multivariate fermionic p-adic integral on Zp. Moreover, the study of these higher-order q-Euler numbers and polynomials implies some interesting q-analogue of stirling numbers identities.
The $L$-function of exponential sums associated to the generic polynomial of degree $d$ in $n$ variables over a finite field of characteristic $p$ is studied. A polygon called the Frobenius polygon of the generic polynomial of degree $d$ in $n$ variables over a finite field of characteristic $p$ is defined. A $p$-adic Riemann hypothesis is formulated. It asserts that the Newton polygon of the $L$-function coincides with the Frobenius polygon when $p$ is large enough. This $p$-adic Riemann hypothesis is proved when $n=2$ and $p\equiv-1({\rm mod }\ d)$. In general, it is proved that the Newton p…
We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of Frobenius equations defined over the ring of overconvergent series. As an application, we prove Chiarellotto-Tsuzuki's conjecture on the rationality and right continuity of Dwork's logarithmic growth filtrations associated to ordinary linear $p$-adic differential equations with Frobenius structures.
We describe a class of multivariate series rings generalizing the usual Robba ring over a p-adic field, and give a basic development of phi-modules over such rings. This makes it possible to give a unified survey of a number of recent developments in p-adic Hodge theory.
We prove that if an $n\times n$ matrix defined over ${\mathbb Q}_p$ (or more generally an arbitrary complete, discretely-valued, non-Archimedean field) satisfies a certain congruence property, then it has a strictly maximal eigenvalue in ${\mathbb Q}_p$, and that iteration of the (normalized) matrix converges to a projection operator onto the corresponding eigenspace. This result may be viewed as a $p$-adic analogue of the Perron-Frobenius theorem for positive real matrices.
The fundamental aim of this paper is to define weighted q-Hardy-littlewood-type maximal operator by means of fermionic p-adic q-invariant distribution on Zp . Also, we derive some interesting properties concerning this type maximal operator.
In this paper, we give explicit descriptions of Hyodo and Kato's Frobenius and Monodromy operators on the first $p$-adic de Rham cohomology groups of curves and Abelian varieties with semi-stable reduction over local fields of mixed characteristic. This paper was motivated by the first author's paper "A $p$-adic Shimura isomorphism and periods of modular forms," where conjectural definitions of these operators for curves with semi-stable reduction were given.
Let $K$ be a $p$-adic local field. In this work we study a special kind of $p$-adic Galois representations of it. These representations are similar to the Galois representations occurred in the exceptional zero conjecture for modular forms. In particular, we verify that a formula of Colmez can be generalized to our case. We also include a degenerated version of Colmez's formula.
We extend the definition of the Chen-Ruan cohomology ring to smooth, proper, tame, Deligne-Mumford stacks over fields of positive characteristic and prove that a modified version of the Frobenius action preserves the product.
The purpose of this paper is to derive some applications of umbral calculus by using extended fermionic p-adic q-integral on Zp. From those applications, we derive some new interesting properties on the new family of Euler numbers and polynomials. That is, a systemic study of the class of Sheffer sequences in connection with generating function of the weighted Euler polynomials are given in the present paper.
Inspired by the theory of p-adic differential equations, this paper introduces an analogous theory for q-difference equations over a local field, when |q|=1. We define some basic concepts, for instance the generic radius of convergence, introduce technical tools, such as a twisted Taylor formula for analytic functions, and prove some fundamental statements, such as an effective bound theorem, the existence of a weak Frobenius structure and a transfer theorem in regular singular disks.
We consider the problem of recovering l-adic representations from a knowledge of the character values at the Frobenius elements associated to l-adic representations constructed algebraically out of the original representations. These results generalize earlier results in of the author concerning refinements of strong multiplicity one for $l$-adic represntations, and a result of Ramakrishnan recovering modular forms from a knowledge of the squares of the Hecke eigenvalues. For example, we show that if the characters of some tensor or symmetric powers of two absolutely irreducible l-adic represe…
In the paper, using the extended fermionic $p$-adic integral on $\mathbb{Z}_p$, the authors find some applications of the umbral calculus. From these applications, the authors derive some identities on the weighted Euler numbers and polynomials. In other words, the authors investigate systematically the class of Sheffer sequences in connection with the generating function of the weighted Euler polynomials.
v2: For a projective variety defined over a finite field with $q$ elements, it is shown that as algebraic integers, the eigenvalues of the geometric Frobenius acting on $\ell$-adic cohomology have higher than known $q$-divisibility beyond the middle dimension. This sharpens both Deligne's integrality theorem and the cohomological divisibility theorem proven by the first author and N. Katz. Similar lower bounds are proved for the Hodge level for a complex variety beyond the middle dimension, improving earlier results in this direction. We discuss the affine case. The previous version contained …
Given a Weil-Deligne representation with coefficients in a domain, we prove the rigidity of the structures of the Frobenius-semisimplifications of the Weyl modules associated to its pure specializations. Moreover, we show that the structures of the Frobenius-semisimplifications of the Weyl modules attached to a collection of pure representations are rigid if these pure representations lift to Weil-Deligne representations over domains containing a domain $\mathscr{O}$ and a pseudorepresentation over $\mathscr{O}$ parametrizes the traces of these lifts.
We show that the $p$-adic completion of any affine elliptic curve with ordinary reduction possesses Frobenius lifts whose "normalized" action on $1$-forms preserves mod $p$ the space of invariant $1$-forms. We next show that, after removing the $2$-torsion sections, the above situation can be "infinitesimally deformed" in the sense that the above mod $p$ result has a mod $p^2$ analogue. While the "eigenvalues" mod $p$ are given by the reciprocal of the Hasse polynomial, the "eigenvalues" mod $p^2$ are given by an appropriate $\d$-modular function whose reciprocal is a $p$-adic deformation of t…
The present paper deals with Bernstein polynomials and Frobenius-Euler numbers and polynomials. We apply the method of generating function and fermionic p-adic integral representation on Zp, which are exploited to derive further classes of Bernstein polynomials and Frobenius-Euler numbers and polynomials. To be more precise we summarize our results as follows, we obtain some combinatorial relations between Frobenius-Euler numbers and polynomials. Furthermore, we derive an integral representation of Bernstein polynomials of degree n on Zp . Also we deduce a fermionic p-adic integral representat…
We show that one can express Frobenius transformation on middle-dimensional p-adic cohomology of Calabi-Yau threefold in terms of mirror map and instanton numbers. We express the mirror map in terms of Frobenius transformation on p-adic cohomology . We discuss a $p$-adic interpretation of the conjecture about integrality of Gopakumar-Vafa invariants.
The notion of strong Frobenius structure is classically studied in the theory of $p$-adic differential operators. In the present work, we introduce a new definition of the notion of strong Frobenius structure for $q$-difference operators. The relevance of this definition is supported by two main results. The first one deals with \emph{confluence}. We show that if the $q$-difference operator $L_q$ has a strong Frobenius structure for a prime $p$ with period $h$ and if $L$ is the $p$-adic differential operator obtained from $L_q$ by letting $q$ tend to 1, then $L$ has a strong Frobenius structur…
We show that if $G$ is a linear algebraic group over a number field and if $G$ is not a torus then for all but finitely many primes $p$ the $p$-adic completion of $G$ does not possess a Frobenius lift that is "Lie invariant mod $p$" (in the sense of \cite{alie1}). This is in contrast with the situation of elliptic curves studied in \cite{alie1}.
In this we give a detailed proof of fermionic p-adic q-measures on Z_p and we will treat some interesting formulae related q-extension of Euler numbers and polynomials.
In this paper, we investigate some symmetric properties of the multivariate p-adic fermionic integrals on Zp and derive various identities concerning the expansions of q-Euler polynomials from the symmetric properties of the multivariate p-adic fermionic integrals on Zp
The aim of this paper is to construct new Dedekind type sums. We construct generating functions of Barnes' type multiple Frobenius-Euler numbers and polynomials. By applying Mellin transformation to these functions, we define Barnes' type multiple l-functions, which interpolate Frobenius-Euler numbers at negative integers. By using generalizations of the Frobenius-Euler functions, we define generalized Dedekind type sums and prove corresponding reciprocity law. We also give twisted versions of the Frobenius-Euler polynomials and new Dedekind type sums and corresponding reciprocity law. Further…
By applying the p-adic q-Volkenborn Integrals including the bosonic and the fermionic p-adic integrals on p-adic integers, we define generating functions, attached to the Dirichlet character, for the generalized Apostol-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, the generalized Apostol-Euler numbers and polynomials, generalized Apostol-Daehee numbers and polynomials, and also generalized Apostol-Changhee numbers and polynomials. We investigate some properties of these numbers and polynomials with their generating functions. By using these generating functions and their functional equation, we give som…
This work is devoted to study of algebraicty modulo p of Siegel's G-functions. Our goal is to emphasize the relevance of the notion of strong Frobenius structure, clasically studied in the theory of the p-adic diffenrential equations, for the study of a Adamczewski-Delaygue's conjecture concerning of the degree of algebraicity modulo p of G-functions. For this, we first make a Christol's result explicit by showing that if $f$ is a G-function that is solution of a differential operator $L$ in $ \mathbb{Q}(z)[d/dz]$ of order $n$ endowed of a strong Frobenius structure of period $h$ for the prime…
In this paper we study q-Euler numbers and polynomials by using p-adic q-fermionic integrals on Z_p. The methods to study q-Euler numbers and polynomials in this paper are new.
We give an exposition of Dwork's construction of Frobenius structures associated to generalized hypergeometric equations via the interpretation of the latter due to Gelfand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky in the language of A-hypergeometric systems. As a consequence, we extract some explicit formulas for the degeneration at 0 in terms of the Morita p-adic gamma function.
Frobenius Traces for Rank-2 Drinfeld Modules, Higher-Dimensional Galois Representations, and a Strong Multiplicity One Theorem in Positive Characteristic
The aim of this paper is to introduce several degenerate hyperbolic functions as degenerate versions of the hyperbolic functions, to evaluate Volkenborn and the fermionic $p$-adic integrals of the degenerate hyperbolic cosine and the degenerate hyperbolic sine functions and to derive from them some identities involving the degenerate Bernoulli numbers, the degenerate Euler numbers and the Cauchy numbers of the first kind.
We compute a basis for the p-adic Dwork cohomology of a smooth complete intersection in projective space over a finite field and use it to give p-adic estimates for the action of Frobenius on this cohomology. In particular, we prove that the Newton polygon of the characteristic polynomial of Frobenius lies on or above the associated Hodge polygon. This result was first proved by B. Mazur using crystalline cohomology.
Suppose that $ω_1,\ldots,ω_N$ are positive real numbers and $x$ is a complex number with positive real part. The multiple Barnes-Euler zeta function $ζ_{E,N}(s,x;\barω)$ with parameter vector $\barω=(ω_1,\ldots,ω_N)$ is defined as a deformation of the Barnes multiple zeta function as follows $$ ζ_{E,N}(s,x;\barω)=\sum_{t_1=0}^\infty\cdots\sum_{t_N=0}^\infty \frac{(-1)^{t_1+\cdots+t_N}}{(x+ω_1t_1+\cdots+ω_Nt_N)^s}. $$ In this paper, based on the fermionic $p$-adic integral, we define the $p$-adic analogue of multiple Barnes-Euler zeta function $ζ_{E,N}(s,x;\barω)$ which we denote by $ζ_{p,E,N}(…
In this paper, we consider an analogue of Catalan polynomials and give some identities of symmetry for those polynomials by using fermionic $p$-adic integrals on the ring of $p$-adic integers
In this paper, we define the p-adic Euler L-functions using the fermionic p-adic integral on Zp. By computing the values of the p-adic Euler L-functions at negative integers, we show that for Dirichlet characters with odd conductor, this definition is quivalent to the previous definition following Kubata-Leopoldt and Washington's approach. We also study the behavior of p-adic Euler L-functions at positive integers. An interesting thing is that most of the results in Section 11.3.3 of Cohen's book [H. Cohen, Number Theory Vol. II: Analytic and Modern Tools, Graduate Texts in Mathematics, 240. S…
