In this paper, we study Frobenius structures in higher dimensional $p$-adic analytic geometry and the corresponding $p$-adic functional analysis. This will build up foundations for further study on some generalized cohomology of Frobenius modules and the corresponding generalized Iwasawa theory and generalized noncommutative Tamagawa number conjectures in the spirit of Burns-Flach-Fukaya-Kato and Nakamura (as well as certainly the original noncommutative Tamagawa number conjectures as observed by Pal-Zábrádi). We will work in the program proposed by Carter-Kedlaya-Zábrádi and after Pal-Zábrádi, and we will follow closely the approach from Kedlaya-Pottharst-Xiao to investigate the corresponding deformation of the generalized $p$-adic Hodge structures.
This is our sequel to our previous work on the corresponding generalized Frobenius modules over some big multivariate Robba rings. We will go beyond our previous discussion where we focused on the corresponding analytic functions on polydiscs and polyannuli in the strictly affinoid situation, and general Hodge-Frobenius structures which are admissible in the corresponding context in our previous work.
In this paper we study the derivatives of Frobenius and the derivatives of Hodge weights for families of Galois representations with triangulations. We generalize the Fontaine-Mazur L-invariant and use it to build a formula which is a generalization of the Greenberg-Stevens-Colmez formula. For the purpose of proving this formula we show two auxiliary results called projection vanishing property and "projection vanishing implying L-invariants" property.
v2: For a projective variety defined over a finite field with $q$ elements, it is shown that as algebraic integers, the eigenvalues of the geometric Frobenius acting on $\ell$-adic cohomology have higher than known $q$-divisibility beyond the middle dimension. This sharpens both Deligne's integrality theorem and the cohomological divisibility theorem proven by the first author and N. Katz. Similar lower bounds are proved for the Hodge level for a complex variety beyond the middle dimension, improving earlier results in this direction. We discuss the affine case. The previous version contained …
We describe a class of multivariate series rings generalizing the usual Robba ring over a p-adic field, and give a basic development of phi-modules over such rings. This makes it possible to give a unified survey of a number of recent developments in p-adic Hodge theory.
We construct examples of smooth proper rigid-analytic varieties admitting formal model with projective special fiber and violating Hodge symmetry for cohomology in degrees $\geq 3$. This answers negatively a question raised by Hansen and Li.
We compute a basis for the p-adic Dwork cohomology of a smooth complete intersection in projective space over a finite field and use it to give p-adic estimates for the action of Frobenius on this cohomology. In particular, we prove that the Newton polygon of the characteristic polynomial of Frobenius lies on or above the associated Hodge polygon. This result was first proved by B. Mazur using crystalline cohomology.
We construct Λ-adic de Rham and crystalline analogues of Hida's ordinary Λ-adic etale cohomology, and by exploiting the geometry of integral models of modular curves over the cyclotomic extension of \Q_p, we prove appropriate finiteness and control theorems in each case. We then employ integral p-adic Hodge theory to prove Λ-adic comparison isomorphisms between our cohomologies and Hida's etale cohomology. As applications of our work, we provide a "cohomological" construction of the family of (ϕ,Γ)-modules attached to Hida's ordinary Λ-adic etale cohomology by Dee, and we give a new and purely…
We give proofs of de Rham comparison isomorphisms for rigid-analytic varieties, with coefficients and in families. This relies on the theory of perfectoid spaces. Another new ingredient is the pro-etale site, which makes all constructions completely functorial.
We prove several related results on the low-degree Hodge numbers of proper smooth rigid analytic varieties over non-archimedean fields. Our arguments rely on known structure theorems for the relevant Picard varieties, together with recent advances in p-adic Hodge theory. We also define a rigid analytic Albanese naturally associated with any smooth proper rigid space.
The concept of weights on the cohomology of algebraic varieties was initiated by fundamental ideas and work of A. Grothendieck and P. Deligne. It is deeply connected with the concept of motives and appeared first on the singular cohomology as the weights of (possibly mixed) Hodge structures and on the etale cohomology as the weights of eigenvalues of Frobenius. But weights also appear on algebraic fundamental groups and in p-adic Hodge theory, where they become only visible after applying the comparison functors of Fontaine. After rehearsing various versions of weights, we explain some more re…
In this paper we study the corresponding categories and the corresponding cohomologies of the Hodge-Iwasawa modules we developed in our series papers on Hodge-Iwasawa theory. The corresponding cohomologies will be essential in the corresponding development of the contact with the corresponding Iwasawa theoretic consideration, while they are as well very crucial in the corresponding study of the corresponding deformations of local systems over general analytic spaces. We contact with some applications in analytic geometry and arithmetic geometry which all have their own interests and deserve fu…
Sen attached to each p-adic Galois representation of a p-adic field a multiset of numbers called generalized Hodge-Tate weights. In this paper, we discuss a rigidity of these numbers in a geometric family. More precisely, we consider a p-adic local system on a rigid analytic variety over a p-adic field and show that the multiset of generalized Hodge-Tate weights of the local system is constant. The proof uses the p-adic Riemann-Hilbert correspondence by Liu and Zhu, a Sen-Fontaine decompletion theory in the relative setting, and the theory of formal connections. We also discuss basic propertie…
$p$-adic Hodge Theory is one of the most powerful tools in modern Arithmetic Geometry. In this survey, we will review $p$-adic Hodge Theory for algebraic varieties, present current developments in $p$-adic Hodge Theory for analytic varieties, and discuss some of its applications to problems in Number Theory. This is an extended version of a talk at the Jubilee Congress for the 100th anniversary of the Polish Mathematical Society, Kraków, 2019.
Consider a meromorphic connection on P^1 over a p-adic field. In many cases, such as those arising from Picard-Fuchs equations or Gauss-Manin connections, this connection admits a Frobenius structure defined over a suitable rigid analytic subspace. We give an effective convergence bound for this Frobenius structure by studying the effect of changing the Frobenius lift. We also give some examples indicating that our bound is essentially optimal.
We develop the analog in equal positive characteristic of Fontaine's theory for crystalline Galois representations of a p-adic field. In particular we describe the analog of Fontaine's functor which assigns to a crystalline Galois representation an isocrystal with a Hodge filtration. In equal characteristic the role of isocrystals and Hodge filtrations is played by z-isocrystals and Hodge-Pink structures. The latter were invented by Pink. Our first main result in this article is the analog of the Colmez-Fontaine Theorem that "weakly admissible implies admissible". Next we construct period spac…
Motivated by a question of Hansen and Li, we show that a smooth and proper rigid analytic space $X$ with projective reduction satisfies Hodge symmetry in the following situations: (1) the base non-archimedean field $K$ is of residue characteristic zero, (2) $K$ is $p$-adic and $X$ has good ordinary reduction, (3) $K$ is $p$-adic and $X$ has "combinatorial reduction."' We also reprove a version of their result, Hodge symmetry for $H^1$, without the use of moduli spaces of semistable sheaves. All of this relies on cases of Kato's log hard Lefschetz conjecture, which we prove for $H^1$ and for lo…
We consider the Diophantine problem of Frobenius for semigroup ${\sf S}({\bf d}^3)$ where ${\bf d}^3$ denotes the tuple $(d_1,d_2,d_3)$, $\gcd(d_1,d_2,d_3)=1$. Based on the Hadamard product of analytic functions we have found the analytic representation for the diagonal elements $a_{kk}({\bf d}^3)$ of the Johnson's matrix of minimal relations in terms of $d_1,d_2,d_3$. Bearing in mind the results of the recent paper this gives the analytic representation for the Frobenius number $F({\bf d}^3)$, genus $G({\bf d}^3)$ and the Hilbert series $H({\bf d}^3;z)$ for the semigroups ${\sf S}({\bf d}^3)$…
We study the functors $\D_{\B_\ast}(V)$, where $\B_\ast$ is one of Fontaine's period rings and $V$ is a family of Galois representations with coefficients in an affinoid algebra $A$. We show that $\D_{\HT}(V)=\oplus_{i\in\Z}(\D_{\Sen}(V)\cdot t^i)^{Γ_K}$, $\D_{\dR}(V)=\D_{\dif}(V)^{Γ_K}$, and $\D_{\cris}(V)=\D_{\rig}(V)[1/t]^{Γ_K}$, generalizing results of Sen, Fontaine, and Berger. The modules $\D_{\HT}(V)$ and $\D_{\dR}(V)$ are coherent sheaves on $\Sp(A)$, and $\Sp(A)$ is stratified by the ranks of submodules $\D_{\HT}^{[a,b]}(V)$ and $\D_{\dR}^{[a,b]}(V)$ of "periods with Hodge-Tate weight…
It's well known that multiple polylogarithms give rise to good unipotent variations of mixed Hodge-Tate structures. In this paper we shall {\em explicitly} determine these structures related to multiple logarithms and some other multiple polylogarithms of lower weights. The purpose of this explicit construction is to give some important applications: First we study of the limit mixed Hodge-Tate structures and make a conjecture relating the variations of mixed Hodge-Tate structures of multiple logarithms to those of general multiple {\em poly}logarithms. Then following Deligne and Beilinson we …
In this paper we study the derivatives of Frobenius and the derivatives of Hodge-Tate weights for families of Galois representations with triangulations. We give a generalization of the Fontaine-Mazur L-invariant and use it to build a formula which is a generalization of the Colmez-Greenberg-Stevens formula.
We generalize some of the results of Andreatta, Iovita, and Pilloni and the author to Hodge type Shimura varieties having non-empty ordinary locus. For any $p$-adic weight $κ$, we give a geometric definition of the space of overconvergent modular forms of weight $κ$ in terms of sections of a sheaf. We show that our sheaves live in analytic families, interpolating the classical sheaves for integral weights. We define an action of the Hecke algebra, including a completely continuous operator at $p$. In some simple cases, we also build the eigenvariety.
We describe a new approach to relative p-adic Hodge theory based on systematic use of Witt vector constructions and nonarchimedean analytic geometry in the style of both Berkovich and Huber. We give a thorough development of phi-modules over a relative Robba ring associated to a perfect Banach ring of characteristic p, including the relationship between these objects and etale Z_p-local systems and Q_p-local systems on the algebraic and analytic spaces associated to the base ring, and the relationship between etale cohomology and phi-cohomology. We also make a critical link to mixed characteri…
Building on foundations introduced in a previous paper, we give several p-adic analytic descriptions of the categories of etale Zp-local systems and etale Qp-local systems on an affinoid algebra over a finite extension of Qp (or more generally, over the fraction field of the Witt vectors of a perfect field of characteristic p). These include generalizations of Fontaine's theory of (phi, Gamma)-modules, the refinement of Fontaine's construction introduced by Cherbonnier and Colmez, and a recent description by Fargues and Fontaine in terms of semistable vector bundles on a certain scheme. Our de…
Inspired by the theory of p-adic differential equations, this paper introduces an analogous theory for q-difference equations over a local field, when |q|=1. We define some basic concepts, for instance the generic radius of convergence, introduce technical tools, such as a twisted Taylor formula for analytic functions, and prove some fundamental statements, such as an effective bound theorem, the existence of a weak Frobenius structure and a transfer theorem in regular singular disks.
