Cobweb posets uniquely represented by directed acyclic graphs are such a generalization of the Fibonacci tree that allows joint combinatorial interpretation for all of them under admissibility condition. This interpretation was derived in the source papers ([6,7] and references therein to the first author).[7,6,8] include natural enquires to be reported on here. The purpose of this presentation is to report on the progress in solving computational problems which are quite easily formulated for the new class of directed acyclic graphs interpreted as Hasse diagrams. The problems posed there and not yet all solved completely are of crucial importance for the vast class of new partially ordered sets with joint combinatorial interpretation. These so called cobweb posets - are relatives of Fibonacci tree and are labeled by specific number sequences - natural numbers sequence and Fibonacci sequence included. The cobweb posets might be identified with a chain of di-bicliques i.e. by definition - a chain of complete bipartite one direction digraphs [6]. Any chain of relations is therefore obtainable from the cobweb poset chain of complete relations via deleting arcs in di-bicliques of the complete relations chain. In particular we response to one of those problems [1].
The characterization of the large family of cobweb posets as DAGs and oDAGs is given. The dim 2 poset such that its Hasse diagram coincide with digraf of arbitrary cobweb poset is constructed.
The characterization of fibonacci cobweb poset as d.a.g. and o.d.a.g. is given. The dim 2 poset such that its hasse diagram coincide with digraf of fibonacci cobweb poset is constructed.
The explicite formulas for Mobius function and some other important elements of the incidence algebra of an arbitrary cobweb poset are delivered. For that to do one uses Kwasniewski's construction of his cobweb posets . The digraph representation of these cobweb posets constitutes a newly discovered class of orderable DAG's named here down KoDAGs with a kind of universality now being investigated. Namely cobweb posets' and thus KoDAGs's defining di-bicliques are links of any complete relations' chains.
This note is a response to one of problems posed by A.K. Kwasniewski in one of his recent papers. Namely for the sequence of finite cobweb subposets, the looked for explicit formulas for corresponding sequence of characteristic polynomials are discovered and delivered here. The recurrence relation defining arbitrary family of charactristic polynomials of finite cobweb posets is also derived.
The explicite formulas for möbiusien function and some other important elements of the incidence algebra are delivered. For that to do one uses kwaśniewski's construction of his fibonacci cobweb poset in the plane grid coordinate system.
The explicit formula for mobiusien function of fibonacci cobweb poset P is given for the first time by the use of definition of P in plane grid coordinate system.
Kwasniewski's cobweb posets uniquely represented by directed acyclic graphs are such a generalization of the Fibonacci tree that allows joint combinatorial interpretation for all of them under admissibility condition. This interpretation was derived in the source papers and it entailes natural enquieres already formulated therein. In our note we response to one of those problems. This is a tiling problem. Our observations on tiling problem include proofs of tiling's existence for some cobweb-admissible sequences. We show also that not all cobwebs admit tiling as defined below.
A class of new type graded infinite posets with minimal element are considered. These so called cobweb posets introduced recently by the present author provide a wide range of new noncommutative prefab combinatorial schema with characteristic graded subposets as primes. The schema are defined here via relaxing commutativity and associativity requirements imposed on the composition of prefabs by the fathers of this fertile concept. The construction and the very first basic properties of cobweb prefabs are pointed out in what follows. An another single valued commutative amd associative composis…
The main purpose of this article is to pose three problems which are easy to be formulated in an elementary way. These problems which are specifically important also for the new class of partially ordered sets seem to be not yet solved.
F-boxes defined in [6] as hyper-boxes in N^{\infty} discrete space were applied here for the geometric description of the cobweb posetes Hasse diagrams tilings. The F-boxes edges sizes are taken to be values of terms of natural numbers' valued sequence F. The problem of partitions of hyper-boxes represented by graphs into blocks of special form is considered and these are to be called F-tilings. The proof of such tilings' existence for certain sub-family of admissible sequences F is delivered. The family of F-tilings which we consider here includes among others F = Natural numbers, Fibonacci n…
A digraph that represents reasonably a scheduling problem should be a directed acyclic graph. Here down we shall deal with special kind of graded $DAGs$ named $KoDAGs$. For their definition and first primary properties see $ [1]$, where natural join of directed biparted graphs and their corresponding adjacency matrices is defined and then applied to investigate cobweb posets and their $Hasse$ digraphs called $KoDAGs$. In this report we extend the notion of cobweb poset while delivering some elementary consequences of the description and observations established in $[1]$.
In recent Kwasniewski's papers inspired by O. V. Viskov it was shown that the $ψ$-calculus in parts appears to be almost automatic, natural extension of classical operator calculus of Rota - Mullin or equivalently - of umbral calculus of Roman and Rota. At the same time this calculus is an example of the algebraization of the analysis - here restricted to the algebra of polynomials. The first part of the article is the review of the recent author's contribution. The main definitions and theorems of Finite Fibonomial Operator Calculus which is a special case of $ψ$-extented Rota's finite operat…
Primary definitions, notation and general observations of finite fibonomial operator calculus (ffoc) are presented. Kwasniewski's combinatorial interpretation of fibonomial coefficients by the use of fibonacci cobweb poset is given. Some elements of incidence algebra of fibonacci cobweb poset are defined.
We introduce a natural partial order in structurally natural finite subsets of the cobweb prefabs sets recently constructed by the present author. Whitney numbers of the second kind of the corresponding subposet which constitute Stirling like numbers triangular array are then calculated and the explicit formula for them is provided. Next, in the second construction we endow the set sums of prefabiants with such an another partial order that their Bell like numbers include Fibonacci triad sequences introduced recently by the present author in order to extend famous relation between binomial New…
Natural join of $di-bigraphs$ that is directed biparted graphs and their corresponding adjacency matrices is defined and then applied to investigate the so called cobweb posets and their $Hasse$ digraphs called $KoDAGs$. $KoDAGs$ are special orderable directed acyclic graphs which are cover relation digraphs of cobweb posets introduced by the author few years ago. $KoDAGs$ appear to be distinguished family of $Ferrers$ digraphs which are natural join of a corresponding ordering chain of one direction directed cliques called $di-bicliques$. These digraphs serve to represent faithfully correspon…
One considers here orderable acyclic digraphs named KoDAGs which represent the outmost general chains of dibicliques denoting thus the outmost general chains of binary relations. Because of this fact KoDAGs start to become an outstanding concept of nowadays investigation. We propose here examples of codings of KoDAGs looked upon as infinite hyper-boxes as well as chains of rectangular hyper-boxes in N^\infty. Neither of KoDAGs codings considered here is a poset isomorphism with Pi = <P, \leq>. Nevertheless every example of coding supplies a new view on possible investigation of KoDAGs properti…
In addition to the three standard operations on posets which are dual of poset or ordinal and cardinal sums of partial ordered sets one adds the natural join of posets. This is especially natural natural join operation for graded posets including very special and important the so called cobweb posets. The main aims of this article are the presentation of the authors update applications of natural join of posets in the domain of graded posets and summary of the general properties of natural join of posets with posing some questions arising on the way. Thus in this note apart from revealing some…

The notion of the Fibonacci cobweb poset from [1] has been naturally extended to any admissible sequence $F$ in [2] where it was also recognized that the celebrated prefab notion of Bender and Goldman [3] - (see also [4,5]) - admits such an extension so as to encompass the new type combinatorial objects from [2] as leading examples. Recently the present author had introduced also [6] two natural partial orders in there: one $\leq$ in grading-natural subsets of cobweb`s prefabs sets [2] and in the second proposal one endows the set sums of the so called "prefabiants" with such another partial o…
Dimension is a standard and well-studied measure of complexity of posets. Recent research has provided many new upper bounds on the dimension for various structurally restricted classes of posets. Bounded dimension gives a succinct representation of the poset, admitting constant response time for queries of the form "is $x<y$?". This application motivates looking for stronger notions of dimension, possibly leading to succinct representations for more general classes of posets. We focus on two: boolean dimension, introduced in the 1980s and revisited in recent research, and local dimension, a v…
It has been known for more than 40 years that there are posets with planar cover graphs and arbitrarily large dimension. Recently, Streib and Trotter proved that such posets must have large height. In fact, all known constructions of such posets have two large disjoint chains with all points in one chain incomparable with all points in the other. Gutowski and Krawczyk conjectured that this feature is necessary. More formally, they conjectured that for every $k\geq 1$, there is a constant $d$ such that if $P$ is a poset with a planar cover graph and $P$ excludes $\mathbf{k}+\mathbf{k}$, then $\…
We develop a theory of limits of finite posets in close analogy to the recent theory of graph limits. In particular, we study representations of the limits by functions of two variables on a probability space, and connections to exchangeable random infinite posets.
In recent years we have worked on a project involving poset topology, various analogues of Eulerian polynomials, and a refinement of Richard Stanley's chromatic symmetric function. Here we discuss how Stanley's ideas and results have influenced and inspired our own work.
A poset is (3+1)-free if it does not contain the disjoint union of chains of length 3 and 1 as an induced subposet. These posets are the subject of the (3+1)-free conjecture of Stanley and Stembridge. Recently, Lewis and Zhang have enumerated \emph{graded} (3+1)-free posets, but until now the general enumeration problem has remained open. We enumerate all (3+1)-free posets by giving a decomposition into bipartite graphs, and obtain generating functions for (3+1)-free posets with labelled or unlabelled vertices.
Several recent papers have examined a rational polyhedron $P_m$ whose integer points are in bijection with the numerical semigroups (cofinite, additively closed subsets of the non-negative integers) containing $m$. A combinatorial description of the faces of $P_m$ was recently introduced, one that can be obtained from the divisibility posets of the numerical semigroups a given face contains. In this paper, we study the faces of $P_m$ containing arithmetical numerical semigroups and those containing certain glued numerical semigroups, as an initial step towards better understanding the full fac…
Recently, Chang and Hyun obtained some classes of binary optimal codes via simplicial complexes. In this letter, we utilize posets of the disjoint union of two chains to construct binary optimal linear codes.
We study the equivalence relation on the set of acyclic orientations of an undirected graph G generated by source-to-sink conversions. These conversions arise in the contexts of admissible sequences in Coxeter theory, quiver representations, and asynchronous graph dynamical systems. To each equivalence class we associate a poset, characterize combinatorial properties of these posets, and in turn, the admissible sequences. This allows us to construct an explicit bijection from the equivalence classes over G to those over G' and G", the graphs obtained from G by edge deletion and edge contractio…
Partially ordered sets (posets) are fundamental combinatorial objects with important applications in computer science. Perhaps the most natural algorithmic task, given a size-$n$ poset, is to compute its number of linear extensions. In 1991 Brightwell and Winkler showed this problem to be $\#P$-hard. In spite of extensive research, the fastest known algorithm is still the straightforward $O(n 2^n)$-time dynamic programming (an adaptation of the Bellman-Held-Karp algorithm for the TSP). Very recently, Dittmer and Pak showed that the problem remains $\#P$-hard for two-dimensional posets, and no …
Given a finite poset P, we consider the largest size La(n,P) of a family of subsets of $[n]:=\{1,...,n\}$ that contains no subposet P. This problem has been studied intensively in recent years, and it is conjectured that $π(P):= \lim_{n\rightarrow\infty} La(n,P)/{n choose n/2}$ exists for general posets P, and, moreover, it is an integer. For $k\ge2$ let $\D_k$ denote the $k$-diamond poset $\{A< B_1,...,B_k < C\}$. We study the average number of times a random full chain meets a $P$-free family, called the Lubell function, and use it for $P=\D_k$ to determine $π(\D_k)$ for infinitely many valu…
This is a brief survey of some open problems on permutation patterns, with an emphasis on subjects not covered in the recent book by Kitaev, \emph{Patterns in Permutations and words}. I first survey recent developments on the enumeration and asymptotics of the pattern 1324, the last pattern of length 4 whose asymptotic growth is unknown, and related issues such as upper bounds for the number of avoiders of any pattern of length $k$ for any given $k$. Other subjects treated are the Möbius function, topological properties and other algebraic aspects of the poset of permutations, ordered by conta…
There is much recent interest in excluded subposets. Given a fixed poset $P$, how many subsets of $[n]$ can found without a copy of $P$ realized by the subset relation? The hardest and most intensely investigated problem of this kind is when $P$ is a diamond, i.e. the power set of a 2 element set. In this paper, we show infinitely many asymptotically tight constructions using random set families defined from posets based on Abelian groups. They are provided by the convergence of Markov chains on groups. Such constructions suggest that the diamond problem is hard.
A well-known theorem of Sperner describes the largest collections of subsets of an $n$-element set none of which contains another set from the collection. Generalising this result, Erdős characterised the largest families of subsets of an $n$-element set that do not contain a chain of sets $A_1 \subset \dotsc \subset A_k$ of an arbitrary length $k$. The extremal families contain all subsets whose cardinalities belong to an interval of length $k-1$ centred at $n/2$. In a far-reaching extension of Sperner's theorem, Kleitman determined the smallest number of chains of length two that have to app…
Motivated by recent work on mixtures of classical and free probabilities, we introduce and study the notion of $ε$-noncrossing partitions. It is shown that the set of such partitions forms a lattice, which interpolates as a poset between the poset of partitions and the one of noncrossing partitions. Moreover, $ε$-cumulants are introduced and shown to characterize the notion of $ε$-independence.
