We consider the method of topological quantization for conservative systems with a finite number of degrees of freedom. Maupertuis' formalism for classical mechanics provides an appropriate scenario which permit us to adapt the method of topological quantization, originally formulated for gravitational field configurations. We show that any conservative system in classical mechanics can be associated with a principal fiber bundle. As an application of topological quantization we derive expressions for the topological spectra of some simple mechanical systems and show that they reproduce the discrete behavior of the corresponding canonical spectra.
We prove that the topological recursion formalism can be used to compute the WKB expansion of solutions of second order differential operators obtained by quantization of any hyper-elliptic curve. We express this quantum curve in terms of spectral Darboux coordinates on the moduli space of meromorphic $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-connections on $\mathbb{P}^1$ and argue that the topological recursion produces a $2g$-parameter family of associated tau functions, where $2g$ is the dimension of the moduli space considered. We apply this procedure to the 6 Painlevé equations which correspond to $g=1$ and cons…
The symplectic analysis for the four dimensional Pontryagin and Euler invariants is performed within the Faddeev-Jackiw context. The Faddeev-Jackiw constraints and the generalized Faddeev-Jackiw brackets are reported; we show that in spite of the Pontryagin and Euler classes give rise the same equations of motion, its respective symplectic structures are different to each other. In addition, a quantum state that solves the Faddeev-Jackiw constraints is found, and we show that the quantum states for these invariants are different to each other. Finally, we present some remarks and conclusions.
We analyze the polymer representation of quantum mechanics within the deformation quantization formalism. In particular, we construct the Wigner function and the star-product for the polymer representation as a distributional limit of the Schrödinger representation for the Weyl algebra in a Gaussian weighted measure, and we observe that the quasi-probability distribution limit of this Schrödinger representation agrees with the Wigner function for Loop Quantum Cosmology. Further, the introduced polymer star-product fulfills Bohr's correspondence principle even though not all the operators are w…
In the previous paper arXiv:2003.06470 we introduced the notion of ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded classical mechanics and presented a general framework to construct, in the Lagrangian setting, the worldline sigma models invariant under a ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded superalgebra. In this work we discuss at first the classical Hamiltonian formulation of some of these models and later present their canonical quantization. As the simplest application of the construction we recover the ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded quantum Hamiltonian introduced by Bruce and Dup…
Physical problems for which the existence of non-trivial topological Pauli phase (i.e. fractional quantization of angular orbital angular momenta that is possible in 2D case) is essential are discussed within the framework of two-dimensional Helmholtz, Schroedinger and Dirac equations. As examples in classical field theory we consider a "wedge problem" -- a description of a field generated by a point charge between two conducting half-planes -- and a Fresnel diffraction from knife-edge. In few-electron circular quantum dots the choice between integer and half-integer quantization of orbital an…
Quantization together with quantum dynamics can be simultaneously formulated as the problem of finding an appropriate flat connection on a Hilbert bundle over a contact manifold. Contact geometry treats time, generalized positions and momenta as points on an underlying phase-spacetime and reduces classical mechanics to contact topology. Contact quantization describes quantum dynamics in terms of parallel transport for a flat connection; the ultimate goal being to also handle quantum systems in terms of contact topology. Our main result is a proof of local, formal gauge equivalence for a broad …
The Schrodinger variational approach (1926) to quantization of the natural Hamilton mechanics in $2n$-dimensional phase space is revised in the modern paradigm of quantum mechanics in application to the system the Hamilton function of which is a positive-definite quadratic form of the n momenta with the coefficients depending on coordinates in the generic configuration space $V_n$. The quantum Hamilonian thus obtained has a paradoxical potential term depending on choice of coordinates in $V_n$, which was discovered first by B. DeWitt in 1952 in the framework of canonical quantization of the sy…
In his pioneering paper [Phys. Rev. E 7, 2405 (1973)], Nambu proposed the idea of multiple Hamiltonian systems. The explicit example examined there is equivalent to the so(3) Lie-Poisson system, which represents noncanonical Hamiltonian dynamics with a Casimir; the Casimir corresponds to the second Hamiltonian of Nambu's formulation. The vortex dynamics of ideal fluid, while it is infinite dimensional, has a similar structure, in which the Casimir is the helicity. These noncanonical Poisson algebras are derived by the reduction, i.e., restricting the phase space to some submanifold embedded in…
