We derive an analytical lower bound for the concurrence of a bipartite quantum state in arbitrary dimension. A functional relation is established relating concurrence, the Peres-Horodecki criterion and the realignment criterion. We demonstrate that our bound is exact for some mixed quantum states. The significance of our method is illustrated by giving a quantitative evaluation of entanglement for many bound entangled states, some of which fail to be identified by the usual concurrence estimation method.
We derive a lower bound for the concurrence of mixed bipartite quantum states, valid in arbitrary dimensions. As a corollary, a weaker, purely algebraic estimate is found, which detects mixed entangled states with positive partial transpose.
Based on a proposed coherence measure, we show that the local coherence of a bipartite quantum pure state (coherence of its reduced density matrix) is exactly the same as the minimal average co- herence with all potential pure-state realizations under consideration. In particular, it is shown that bipartite concurrence of pure states just captures the maximal difference between local coherence and the average coherence of one subsystem induced by local operations on the other subsystem with the assistance of classical communications, which provides an alternative operational meaning for bipart…
We present a lower bound of concurrence for arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum states. This lower bound may be used to improve all the known lower bounds of concurrence. Moreover, the lower bound gives rise to an operational sufficient criterion of distillability of quantum entanglement. The significance of our result is illustrated by quantitative evaluation of entanglement for entangled states that fail to be identified by the usual concurrence estimation method, and by showing the distillability of mixed states that can not be recognized by other distillability criteria.
We extend the definition of concurrence into a family of entanglement monotones, which we call concurrence monotones. We discuss their properties and advantages as computational manageable measures of entanglement, and show that for pure bipartite states all measures of entanglement can be written as functions of the concurrence monotones. We then show that the concurrence monotones provide bounds on quantum information tasks. As an example, we discuss their applications to remote entanglement distributions (RED) such as entanglement swapping and remote preparation of bipartite entangled state…
Monogamy of entanglement is generally discussed using a bipartite entanglement measure as an upper bound. Here we discuss a new kind of monogamous relation where the upper bound is given by a multipartite measure of entanglement, the generalized concurrence. We show a new monogamous equality involving the multipartite concurrence, all the bipartite concurrences and the genuine tripartite entanglement for pure three qubits system. The result extends to mixed states in an inequality involving the generalized concurrence and all the bipartite concurrences. We provide a counter-example showing tha…
We propose a novel parameterized entanglement measure $α$-concurrence for bipartite systems. By employing positive partial transposition and realignment criteria, we derive analytical lower bounds for the $α$-concurrence. Moreover, we calculate explicitly the analytic expressions of the $α$-concurrence for isotropic states and Werner states.
In this article we investigate the unitary dynamics of squashed entanglement and concurrence measures in Werner state and maximally entangled mixed states (MEMS) under two different Hamiltonians. The aim of the present study is two fold. The first part of the study deals with the dynamics under Heisenberg Hamiltonian and the second part deals under bi-linear bi-quadratic Hamiltonian which is the extension of first Hamiltonian. In both the parts we investigate the dynamical trade off and balancing points for squashed entanglement and concurrence. During the study, we also found the results of e…
In this paper we explore the non-monotonic nature of entanglement of formation with respect to concurrence for pure bipartite states. For pure bipartite system, one of the basic physical reason of this non-monotonicity character is due to the existence of incomparable states, i.e., the pure bipartite states which are not convertible to each other by LOCC with certainty.
In this work we propose the geometric mean of bipartite concurrences as a genuine multipartite entanglement measure. This measure achieves the maximum value for absolutely maximally entangled states and has desirable properties for quantifying potential quantum resources. The simplicity and symmetry in the definition facilitates its computation for various multipartite entangled states including the GHZ states and the $W$ states. With explicit examples we show that our measure results in distinct entanglement orderings from other measures, and can detect differences in certain types of genuine…
The problem on detecting the entanglement of a bipartite state is significant in quantum information theory. In this article, we apply the Ky Fan norm to the revised realignment matrix of a bipartite state. Specifially, we consider a family of separable criteria for bipartite states, and present when the density matrix corresponds to a state is real, the criteria is equivalent to the enhanced realignment criterion. Moreover, we present analytical lower bounds of concurrence and the convex-roof extended negativity for arbitrary dimensional systems.
We discuss properties of entanglement measures called I-concurrence and tangle. For a bipartite pure state, I-concurrence and tangle are simply related to the purity of the marginal density operators. The I-concurrence (tangle) of a bipartite mixed state is the minimum average I-concurrence (tangle) of ensemble decompositions of pure states of the joint density operator. Terhal and Vollbrecht [Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 2625 (2000)] have given an explicit formula for the entanglement of formation of isotropic states in arbitrary dimensions. We use their formalism to derive comparable expressions for…
We propose an entanglement measure for two qudits based on the covariances of a set of generators of the su(N) algebra. In particular, we represent this measure in terms of the mutually unbiased projectors for N prime. For pure states this measure quantify entanglement, we obtain an explicit expression which relates it to the concurrence hierarchy, specifically the I-concurrence and the 3-concurrence. For mixed states we propose a separability criterion.
We argue that a complete characterisation of quantum correlations in bipartite systems of many dimensions may require a quantity which, even for pure states, does not reduce to a single number. Subsequently, we introduce multi-dimensional generalizations of concurrence and find evidence that they may provide useful tools for the analysis of quantum correlations in mixed bipartite states. We also introudce {\it biconcurrence} that leads to a necessary and sufficient condition for separability.
We derive an analytic approximation for the concurrence of weakly mixed bipartite quantum states - typical objects in state of the art experiments. This approximation is shown to be a lower bound of the concurrence of arbitrary states.
We establish a relation between the Schwarz inequality and the generalized concurrence of an arbitrary, pure, bipartite or tripartite state. This relation places concurrence in a geometrical and functional-analytical setting.
The problems of genuine multipartite entanglement detection and classification are challenging. We show that a multipartite quantum state is genuine multipartite entangled if the multipartite concurrence is larger than certain quantities given by the number and the dimension of the subsystems. This result also provides a classification of various genuine multipartite entanglement. Then, we present a lower bound of the multipartite concurrence in terms of bipartite concurrences. While various operational approaches are available for providing lower bounds of bipartite concurrences, our results …
Detection of entanglement in bipartite states is a fundamental task in quantum information. The first method to verify entanglement in mixed states was the partial-transpose criterion. Subsequently, numerous quantifiers for bipartite entanglement were introduced, among them concurrence and negativity. Surprisingly, these quantities are often treated as distinct or independent of each other. The aim of this contribution is to highlight the close relations between these concepts, to show the connections between seemingly independent results, and to present various estimates for the mixed-state c…
Witness Operator Provides Better Estimate of the Lower Bound of Concurrence of Bipartite Bound Entangled States in $d_{1}\otimes d_{2}$ Dimensional System
One-qubit pure states, living on the surface of Bloch sphere, can be mapped onto the usual complex plane by using stereographic projection. In this paper, after reviewing the entanglement of two-qubit pure state, it is shown that the \emph{quaternionic} stereographic projection is related to concurrence measure. This is due to the fact that every two-qubit state, in ordinary complex field, corresponds to the one-qubit state in quaternionic skew field, called quaterbit. Like the one-qubit states in complex field, the stereographic projection maps every quaterbit onto a quaternion number whose c…
We consider the maximum bipartite entanglement that can be distilled from a single copy of a multipartite mixed entangled state, where we focus mostly on $d\times d\times n$-dimensional tripartite mixed states. We show that this {\em assisted entanglement}, when measured in terms of the generalized concurrence (named G-concurrence) is (tightly) bounded by an entanglement monotone, which we call the G-concurrence of assistance. The G-concurrence is one of the possible generalizations of the concurrence to higher dimensions, and for pure bipartite states it measures the {\em geometric mean} of t…
In this work, we study the numerical optimization of nearest-neighbor concurrence of bipartite one and two dimensional lattices, as well as non bipartite two dimensional lattices. These systems are described in the framework of a tight-binding Hamiltonian while the optimization of concurrence was performed using genetic algorithms. Our results show that the concurrence of the optimized lattice structures is considerably higher than that of non optimized systems. In the case of one dimensional chains the concurrence is maximized when the system begins to dimerize, i.e. it undergoes a structural…
We show that each entanglement witness detecting given bipartite entangled state provides an estimation of its concurrence. We illustrate our result with several well known examples of entanglement witnesses and compare the corresponding estimation of concurrence with other estimations provided by the trace norm of partial transposition and realignment.
We study the entanglement of a multipartite quantum state. An inequality between the bipartite concurrence and the multipartite concurrence is obtained. More effective lower and upper bounds of the multipartite concurrence are obtained. By using the lower bound, the entanglement of more multipartite states are detected.
Entanglement concurrence has been widely used for featuring entanglement in quantum experiments. As an entanglement monotone it is related to specific quantum Tsallis entropy. Our goal in this paper is to propose a new parameterized bipartite entanglement monotone which is named as $q$-concurrence inspired by general Tsallis entropy. We derive an analytical lower bound for the $q$-concurrence of any bipartite quantum entanglement state by employing positive partial transposition criterion and realignment criterion, which shows an interesting relationship to the strong separability criteria. Th…
We study the dynamics of upper and lower bounds of squared concurrence. Our results are similar to that of Konard et al. and can help the estimation of high-dimension bipartite entanglement in experiments.
Concurrence is an entanglement measure characterizing the {\it mixed} state bipartite correlations inside of a pure state of an $n$-qubit system. We show that after organizing the charges and the moduli in the STU model of $N=2$, $d=4$ supergravity to a three-qubit state, for static extremal spherically symmetric BPS black hole solutions the vanishing condition for all of the bipartite concurrences on the horizon is equivalent to the attractor equations. As a result of this the macroscopic black hole entropy given by the three-tangle can be reinterpreted as a linear entropy characterizing the …
We introduce a complete set of complementary quantities in bipartite, two-dimensional systems. Complementarity then relates the quantitative entanglement measure concurrence which is a bipartite property to the single-particle quantum properties predictability and visibility, for the most general quantum state of two qubits. Consequently, from an interferometric point of view, the usual wave-particle duality relation must be extended to a ``triality'' relation containing, in addition, the quantitative entanglement measure concurrence, which has no classical counterpart and manifests a genuine …
For bipartite quantum states we obtain lower bounds on two important entanglement measures, concurrence and negativity, studying the inequalities for the expectation value of a projector on some subspace of the Hilbert space. Several applications, including analysis of stability of entanglement under various perturbations of a state, are discussed.
We study the concurrence of arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum systems. By using a positive but not completely positive map, we present an analytical lower bound of concurrence. Detailed examples are used to show that our bound can detect entanglement better and can improve the well known existing lower bounds.
We study the concurrence of arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum systems. An explicit analytical lower bound of concurrence is obtained, which detects entanglement for some quantum states better than some well-known separability criteria, and improves the lower bounds such as from the PPT, realignment criteria and the Breuer's entanglement witness.
We study the concurrence of arbitrary multipartite mixed quantum states. An explicit lower bound of the concurrence is derived, which detects quantum entanglement of some states better than some separability criteria, and gives sufficient conditions for distilling GHZ states from tripartite states. An interesting relations between the lower bound of the concurrence for bipartite states and for tripartite states has been presented.
We study the dynamics of two lower bounds of concurrence in bipartite quantum systems when one party goes through an arbitrary channel. We show that these lower bounds obey the factorization law similar to that of [Konrad et al., Nat. Phys. 4, 99 (2008)]. We also, discuss the application of this property, in an example.
In this paper, we propose concurrence classes for an arbitrary multi-qubit state based on orthogonal complement of a positive operator valued measure, or POVM in short, on quantum phase. In particular, we construct concurrence for an arbitrary two-qubit state and concurrence classes for the three- and four-qubit states. And finally, we construct $W^{m}$ and $GHZ^{m}$ class concurrences for multi-qubit states. The unique structure of our POVM enables us to distinguish different concurrence classes for multi-qubit states.
Two measures of entanglement, negativity and concurrence are studied for two arbitrary qudits. We obtain negativity as an expectation value of an operator. The differences of the squares of negativity and concurrence are invariants of multilevel entanglement. Explicit results for qutrits and quadrits are obtained.
We study generalized concurrences as a tool to detect the entanglement of bipartite quantum systems. By considering the case of 2 X 4 states of rank 2, we prove that generalized concurrences do not, in general, give a necessary and sufficient condition of separability. We identify a set of entangled states which are undetected by this method.
By focusing on the X-matrix part of a density matrix of two qubits we provide an algebraic lower bound for the concurrence. The lower bound is generalized for cases beyond two qubits and can serve as a sufficient condition for non-separability for bipartite density matrices of arbitrary dimension. Experimentally, our lower bound can be used to confirm non-separability without performing a complete state tomography.
While the detection of entanglement has been proved already to be quite a difficult task, experimental quantification of entanglement is even more challenging. In this work, we derive an analytical lower bound for the concurrence of a bipartite mix quantum state in arbitrary dimension. The lower bound is experimentally implementable in a feasible way, which enabling quantification of entanglement in a broad variety of cases
We propose a entanglement measure for pure $M \otimes N$ bipartite quantum states. We obtain the measure by generalizing the equivalent measure for a $2 \otimes 2$ system, via a $2 \otimes 3$ system, to the general bipartite case. The measure emphasizes the role Bell states have, both for forming the measure, and for experimentally measuring the entanglement. The form of the measure is similar to generalized concurrence. In the case of $2 \otimes 3$ systems, we prove that our measure, that is directly measurable, equals the concurrence. It is also shown that in order to measure the entanglemen…
We consider multi-qubit systems and relate quantitatively the problems of generating cluster states with high value of concurrence of assistance, and that of generating states with maximal bipartite entanglement. We prove an upper bound for the concurrence of assistance. We consider dynamics of spin-1/2 systems that model qubits, with different couplings and possible presence of magnetic field to investigate the appearance of the discussed entanglement properties. We find that states with maximal bipartite entanglement can be generated by an XY Hamiltonian, and their generation can be controll…
The entanglement content of superpositions of quantum states is investigated based on a measure called {\it concurrence}. Given a bipartite pure state in arbitrary dimension written as the quantum superposition of two other such states, we find simple inequalities relating the concurrence of the state to that of its components. We derive an exact expression for the concurrence when the component states are biorthogonal, and provide elegant upper and lower bounds in all other cases. For quantum bits, our upper bound is tighter than the previously derived bound in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 100502 (2…
For a given pure state of multipartite system, the concurrence vector is defined by employing the defining representation of generators of the corresponding rotation groups. The norm of concurrence vector is considered as a measure of entanglement. For multipartite pure state, the concurrence vector is regarded as the direct sum of concurrence subvectors in the sense that each subvector is associated with a pair of particles. It is proposed to use the norm of each subvector as the contribution of the corresponding pair in entanglement of the system.
We study the concurrence of arbitrary-dimensional multipartite quantum states. Analytical lower bounds of concurrence for tripartite quantum states are derived by projecting high-dimensional states to $2\otimes 2\otimes 2$ substates. The results are then generalized to arbitrary multipartite quantum systems. Furthermore, the scheme enables us obtain lower bounds of concurrence for arbitrary four-partite quantum states by projecting high-dimensional states to arbitrary given lower dimensional substates. By detailed examples we show that our results improve the existing lower bounds of concurren…
The entanglement of hard-core bosons in square and honeycomb lattices with nearest-neighbor interactions is estimated by means of quantum Monte Carlo simulations and spin-wave analysis. The particular U(1)-invariant form of the concurrence is used to establish a connection with observables such as density and superfluid density. For specific regimes the concurrence is expressed as a combination of boson density and superfluid density.
We derive measurable lower bounds on concurrence of arbitrary mixed states, for both bipartite and multipartite cases. First, we construct measurable lower bonds on the purely algebraic bounds of concurrence [F. Mintert et al. (2004), Phys. Rev. lett., 92, 167902]. Then, using the fact that the sum of the square of the algebraic bounds is a lower bound of the squared concurrence, we sum over our measurable bounds to achieve a measurable lower bound on concurrence. With two typical examples, we show that our method can detect more entangled states and also can give sharper lower bonds than the …
We obtain an analytical lower bound of entanglement quantified by concurrence for arbitrary bipartite quantum states. It is shown that our bound is tight for some mixed states and is complementary to the previous known lower bounds. On the other hand, it is known that the entanglement monogamy inequality proposed by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters is in general not true for higher dimensional quantum states. Inducing from the new lower bound of concurrence, we find a proper form of entanglement monogamy inequality for arbitrary quantum states.
We show that bipartite concurrence for rank-2 mixed states of qubits is written by an observable which can be exactly and directly measurable in experiment by local projective measurements, provided that four copies of the composite quantum system are available. In addition, for a tripartite quantum pure state of qubits, the 3-tangle is also shown to be measurable only by projective measurements on the reduced density matrices of a pair of qubits conditioned on four copies of the state.
The Schmidt coefficients capture all entanglement properties of a pure bipartite state and therefore determine its usefulness for quantum information processing. While the quantification of the corresponding properties in mixed states is important both from a theoretical and a practical point of view, it is considerably more difficult, and methods beyond estimates for the concurrence are elusive. In particular this holds for a quantitative assessment of the most valuable resource, the maximum possible Schmidt number of an arbitrary mixed state. We derive a framework for lower bounding the appr…
We propose a general scheme to measure the concurrence of an arbitrary two-qubit pure state in atomic systems. The protocol is based on one- and two-qubit operations acting on two available copies of the bipartite system, and followed by a global qubit readout. We show that it is possible to encode the concurrence in the probability of finding all atomic qubits in the ground state. Two possible scenarios are considered: atoms crossing 3D microwave cavities and trapped ion systems.
It is shown that for a given bipartite density matrix and by choosing a suitable separable set (instead of product set) on the separable-entangled boundary, optimal Lewenstein-Sanpera (L-S) decomposition can be obtained via optimization for a generic entangled density matrix. Based on this, We obtain optimal L-S decomposition for some bipartite systems such as $2\otimes 2$ and $2\otimes 3$ Bell decomposable states, generic two qubit state in Wootters basis, iso-concurrence decomposable states, states obtained from BD states via one parameter and three parameters local operations and classical …
In this paper, we study the concurrence of arbitrary dimensional tripartite quantum systems. An explicit operational lower bound of concurrence is obtained in terms of the concurrence of sub-states. A given example show that our lower bound may improve the well known existing lower bounds of concurrence. The significance of our result is to get a lower bound when we study the concurrence of arbitrary dimensional multipartite quantum systems.
Concurrence is an important entanglement measure for states in finite-dimensional quantum systems that was explored intensively in the last decade. In this paper, we extend the concept of concurrence to infinite-dimensional bipartite systems and show that it is continuous and does not increase under local operation and classical communication (LOCC). Moreover, based on the partial Hermitian conjugate (PHC) criterion proposed in [Chin. Phys. Lett. \textbf{26}, 060305(2009); Chin. Sci. Bull. \textbf{56}(9), 840--846(2011)], we introduce a concept of the PHC measure and show that it coincides wit…
The concurrence vectors are proposed by employing the fundamental representation of $A_n$ Lie algebra, which provides a clear criterion to evaluate the entanglement of bipartite system of arbitrary dimension for both pure and mixed states. Accordingly, a state is separable if the norm of its concurrence vector vanishes. The state vectors related to SU(3) states and SO(3) states are discussed in detail. The sign situation of nonzero components of concurrence vectors of entangled bases presents a simple criterion to judge whether the whole Hilbert subspace spanned by those bases is entangled, or…
We investigate some properties of multipartite entanglement of hypergraph states in purely hypergraph theoretical terms. We first introduce an approach for computing the concurrence between two specific qubits of a hypergraph state by using the so-called Hamming weights of several special subhypergraphs of the corresponding hypergraph. Then we quantify and characterize bipartite entanglement between each qubit pair of several special hypergraph states in terms of the concurrence obtained by using the above approach. Our main results include that (i) a graph g has a component with the vertex se…
Wootters [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 2245 (1998)] has given an explicit formula for the entanglement of formation of two qubits in terms of what he calls the concurrence of the joint density operator. Wootters's concurrence is defined with the help of the superoperator that flips the spin of a qubit. We generalize the spin-flip superoperator to a "universal inverter," which acts on quantum systems of arbitrary dimension, and we introduce the corresponding concurrence for joint pure states of (D1 X D2) bipartite quantum systems. The universal inverter, which is a positive, but not completely positive…
We investigate the generation of multipartite entangled SU(k+1) coherent states using a quantum network involving a sequence of k beam splitters. We particularly investigate the entanglement in multipartite SU(2) coherent states (k = 1). We employ the concurrence as measure of the degree of bipartite entanglement.
