We establish a relation between the Schwarz inequality and the generalized concurrence of an arbitrary, pure, bipartite or tripartite state. This relation places concurrence in a geometrical and functional-analytical setting.
We study a relation between the concurrence of assistance and the Mermin inequality on three-qubit pure states. We find that if a given three-qubit pure state has the minimal concurrence of assistance greater than 1/2 then the state violates some Mermin inequality.
For bipartite quantum states we obtain lower bounds on two important entanglement measures, concurrence and negativity, studying the inequalities for the expectation value of a projector on some subspace of the Hilbert space. Several applications, including analysis of stability of entanglement under various perturbations of a state, are discussed.
We obtain an analytical lower bound of entanglement quantified by concurrence for arbitrary bipartite quantum states. It is shown that our bound is tight for some mixed states and is complementary to the previous known lower bounds. On the other hand, it is known that the entanglement monogamy inequality proposed by Coffman, Kundu, and Wootters is in general not true for higher dimensional quantum states. Inducing from the new lower bound of concurrence, we find a proper form of entanglement monogamy inequality for arbitrary quantum states.
We provide detailed proofs of triangle inequalities in coherence measures and entanglement concurrence. If a rank-$2$ state $\varrho$ can be expressed as a convex combination of two pure states, i.e., $\varrho=p_{1}|ψ_{1}\rangle\langleψ_{1}|+p_{2}|ψ_{2}\rangle\langleψ_{2}|$, a triangle inequality can be established as $\big{|}E(|Ψ_{1}\rangle)-E(|Ψ_{2}\rangle)\big{|}\leq E(\varrho)\leq E(|Ψ_{1}\rangle)+E(|Ψ_{2}\rangle)$, where $|Ψ_{1}\rangle=\sqrt{p_{1}}|ψ_{1}\rangle$ and $|Ψ_{2}\rangle=\sqrt{p_{2}}|ψ_{2}\rangle$, $E$ can be considered either coherence measures or entanglement concurrence. This…
Quantum entanglement for multiparty system has a unique feature when it comes to sharing its property among various subsystems. This is famously stated as the monogamy of entanglement. The traditional monogamy of concurrence for tripartite system was proved in a sum form. Recently, it was found that concurrence also respects a monogamy in the product form. Here, we prove a tight monogamy relation in the product form for the concurrence of pure tripartite systems. We illustrate our relation with several examples, including the canonical three qubit states, where this monogamy relation is satura…
It is well known that the maximal violation of the Bell's inequality for a two-qubit system is related to the entanglement formation in terms of a concurrence. However, a generalization of this relation to an $n$-qubit state has not been found. In the paper, we demonstrate some extensions of the relation between the upper bound of the Bell's violation and a {\it generalized} concurrence in several $n$-qubit states. In particular, we show the upper bound of the Bell's violation can be expressed as a function of the generalized concurrence, if a state can be expressed in terms of two variables. …
A generalized Cauchy-Schwarz inequality is derived and applied to uncertainty relation in quantum mechanics. We see a modification in the uncertainty relation and minimum uncertainty wave packet.
Quantum coherence and entanglement orignate from the superposition principle. We derive a rigorous relation between the ${l_1}$-norm of coherence and concurrence, in that we show that the former is always greater than the latter. This result highlights the hierarchical relationship between coherence and concurrence, and proves coherence to be a fundamental and ubiquitous resource. We derive an analogous form of monogamy inequality which is based on the partial coherence of the reduced two-qubit and reduced single qubit of the particular class of three-qubit state. Moreover, we provide coherenc…
We develop a systematic approach to establish Bell inequalities for qubits based on the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. We also use the concept of distinct "roots" of Bell function to classify some well-known Bell inequalities for qubits. As applications of the approach, we present three new and tight Bell inequalities for four and three qubits, respectively.
We have observed a violation of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality in the macroscopic regime by more than 8 standard deviations. The violation has been obtained while filtering out only the low frequency noise of the quantum-correlated beams that results from the technical noise of the laser used to generate them. We use bright intensity-difference squeezed beams produced by four-wave mixing as the source of the correlated fields. We also demonstrate that squeezing does not necessarily imply a violation of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.
Exploring an analytical expression for the convex roof of the pure state squared concurrence for rank 2 mixed states the entanglement of a system of three particles under decoherence is studied, using the monogamy inequality for mixed states and the residual entanglement obtained from it. The monogamy inequality is investigated both for the concurrence and the negativity in the case of local independent phase damping channel acting on generalized GHZ states of three particles and the local independent amplitude damping channel acting on generalized W state of three particles. It is shown that …
The concepts of concurrence and mode concurrence are the measures of entanglement for spin-1/2 and spinless fermion systems respectively. Based on the Jordan-Wigner transformation, any spin-1/2 system is always associated with a fermion system (called counterpart system). The comparison of concurrence and mode concurrence can be made with the aid of the Marshall's sign rule for the ground states of spin-1/2 $XXZ$ and spinless fermion chain systems. We observe that there exists an inequality between concurrence and mode concurrence for the ground states of the two corresponding systems. The spi…
We study the monogamy and polygamy inequalities of quantum correlations in arbitrary dimensional multipartite quantum systems. We first derive the monogamy inequality of the $α$th ($0\leqα\leq\frac{r}{2}, r\geq2$) power of concurrence for any $2\otimes2\otimes2^{n-2}$ tripartite states and generalize it to the $n$-qubit quantum states. In addition to concurrence, we show that the monogamy relations are satisfied by other quantum correlation measures such as entanglement of formation. Moreover, the polygamy inequality of the $β$th ($β\leq0$) power of concurrence and the $β$th ($β\geq s, 0\leq s…
In quantum resource theories (QRTs), there exists evidences of intrinsic connections among different measures of quantum resources, including entanglement, coherence, quantum steering, and so on. However, building the relations among different quantum resources is a vital yet challenging task in multipartite quantum systems. Here, we focus on a unified framework of interpreting the interconversions among different quantum resources in tripartite systems. In particular, an exact relation between the generalized geometric measure and the genuinely multipartite concurrence are derived for tripart…

In classical coding, a single quantum state is encoded into classical information. Decoding this classical information in order to regain the original quantum state is known to be impossible. However, one can attempt to construct a state which comes as close as possible. We give bounds on the smallest possible trace distance between the original and the decoded state which can be reached. We give two approaches to the problem: one starting from Keyl and Werner's no-cloning theorem, and one starting from an operator-valued Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering is the ability that an observer persuades a distant observer to share entanglement by making local measurements. Determining a quantum state is steerable or unsteerable remains an open problem. Here, we derive a new steering inequality with infinite measurements corresponding to an arbitrary two-qubit T state, from consideration of EPR steering inequalities with N projective measurement settings for each side. In fact, the steering inequality is also a sufficient criterion for guaranteering that the T state is unsteerable. Hence, the steering inequality c…
We highlight overlap as one of the simplest inequalities in linear space that yields a number of useful results. One obtains the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality as a special case. More importantly, a variant of it is seen to work desirably in certain singular situations where the celebrated inequality appears to be useless. The basic tenet generates a few other interesting relations, including the improvements over certain common uncertainty bounds. Role of projection operators in modifying the Cauchy-Schwarz relation is noted. Selected applications reveal the efficacy.
The Glauber-Sudarshan $P$-representation is used in quantum optics to distinguish between semi-classical and genuinely quantum electromagnetic fields. We employ the analog of the $P$-representation to show that the violation of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality for the second-order correlation function is a proof of entanglement between identical massive bosons. The presented derivation is valid both in systems with fixed and fluctuating number of particles. Thanks to the recent advances in techniques of detecting positions of separate particles, the violation of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality can …
We propose an alternative evaluation of quantum entanglement by measuring the maximum violation of the Bell's inequality without performing a partial trace operation. This proposal is demonstrated by bridging the maximum violation of the Bell's inequality and the concurrence of a pure state in an $n$-qubit system, in which one subsystem only contains one qubit and the state is a linear combination of two product states. We apply this relation to the ground states of four qubits in the Wen-Plaquette model and show that they are maximally entangled. A topological entanglement entropy of the Wen-…
We introduce a concept of Kadison-Schwarz divisible dynamical maps. It turns out that it is a natural generalization of the well known CP-divisibility which characterizes quantum Markovian evolution. It is proved that Kadison-Schwarz divisible maps are fully characterized in terms of time-local dissipative generators. Simple qubit evolution illustrates the concept.
We introduce a complete set of complementary quantities in bipartite, two-dimensional systems. Complementarity then relates the quantitative entanglement measure concurrence which is a bipartite property to the single-particle quantum properties predictability and visibility, for the most general quantum state of two qubits. Consequently, from an interferometric point of view, the usual wave-particle duality relation must be extended to a ``triality'' relation containing, in addition, the quantitative entanglement measure concurrence, which has no classical counterpart and manifests a genuine …
The Cauchy-Schwarz (CS) inequality -- one of the most widely used and important inequalities in mathematics -- can be formulated as an upper bound to the strength of correlations between classically fluctuating quantities. Quantum mechanical correlations can, however, exceed classical bounds. Here we realize four-wave mixing of atomic matter waves using colliding Bose-Einstein condensates, and demonstrate the violation of a multimode CS inequality for atom number correlations in opposite zones of the collision halo. The correlated atoms have large spatial separations and therefore open new oppo…
A maximally entangled state is a quantum state which has maximum von Neumann entropy for each bipartition. Through proposing a new method to classify quantum states by using concurrences of pure states of a region, one can apply Bell's inequality to study intensity of quantum entanglement of maximally entangled states. We use a class of seven-qubit quantum states to demonstrate the method, where we express all coefficients of the quantum states in terms of concurrences of pure states of a region. When a critical point of an upper bound of Bell's inequality occurs in our quantum states, one of …
Quantum resources play crucial roles for displaying superiority in many quantum communication and computation tasks. To reveal the intrinsic relations hidden in these quantum resources, many efforts have been made in recent years. In this work, we investigate the correlations of the tripartite W-type states based on bipartite quantum resources. The interrelations among the degree of coherence, concurrence, Bell nonlocality and purity are presented. Considering Bell nonlocal and Bell local (satisfied the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality) states for the two-qubit subsystems derived from the…
We derive an inequality for three fermions with six single particle states which reduces to the sum of the famous Coffman-Kundu-Wootters inequalities when an embedded three qubit system is considered. We identify the quantities which are playing the role of the concurrence, the three-tangle and the invariant $\det ρ_A+\det ρ_B+\det ρ_C$ for this tripartite system. We show that this latter one is almost interchangeable with the von Neumann entropy and conjecture that it measures the entanglement of one fermion with the rest of the system. We prove that the vanishing of the fermionic "concurrenc…
Let rho_k, k=1,2,...,m, be the critical Werner state in a bipartite d_k by d_k quantum system, i.e., the one that separates the 1-distillable Werner states from those that are 1-indistillable. We propose a new conjecture (GDC) asserting that the tensor product of rho_k is 1-indistillable. This is much stronger than the familiar conjecture saying that a single critical Werner state is indistillable. We prove that GDC is true for arbitrary m provided that d_k is bigger than 2 for at most one index k. We reformulate GDC as an intriguing inequality for four arbitrary complex hypermatrices of type …
