We propose a entanglement measure for pure $M \otimes N$ bipartite quantum states. We obtain the measure by generalizing the equivalent measure for a $2 \otimes 2$ system, via a $2 \otimes 3$ system, to the general bipartite case. The measure emphasizes the role Bell states have, both for forming the measure, and for experimentally measuring the entanglement. The form of the measure is similar to generalized concurrence. In the case of $2 \otimes 3$ systems, we prove that our measure, that is directly measurable, equals the concurrence. It is also shown that in order to measure the entanglement, it is sufficient to measure the projections of the state onto a maximum of $M(M-1)N(N-1)/2$ Bell states.
Quantum coherence and quantum entanglement are two strong pillars in quantum information theory. We study here for the possibility of any connection between these two important aspects of quantum mechanics while studying the entanglement detection problem for the detection of bipartite higher dimensional entangled states and multipartite entangled states. To achieve our goal, we derive the lower bound $L$ of $l_{1}$ norm of coherence of bipartite qubit-qudit system using the criterion that detect entanglement. Furthermore, we deduce the upper bound $U$ of $l_{1}$ norm of coherence of separable…
Quantum circuit model is the most popular paradigm for implementing complex quantum computation. Based on Cartan decomposition, we show that $2(N-1)$ generalized controlled-$X$ (GCX) gates, $6$ single-qubit rotations about the $y$- and $z$-axes, and $N+5$ single-partite $y$- and $z$-rotation-types which are defined in this paper are sufficient to simulate a controlled-unitary gate $\mathcal{U}_{cu(2\otimes N)}$ with $A$ controlling on $\mathbb{C}^2\otimes \mathbb{C}^N$. In the scenario of the unitary gate $\mathcal{U}_{cd(M\otimes N)}$ with $M\geq3$ that is locally equivalent to a diagonal uni…
We construct a class of entangled states in $\mathcal{H}=\mathcal{H}_{A}\otimes\mathcal{H}_{B}\otimes\mathcal{H}_{C}$ quantum systems with $dim\mathcal{H}_{A}=dim\mathcal{H}_{B}=dim\mathcal{H}_{C}=2$ and classify those states with respect to their distillability properties. The states are bound entanglement for the bipartite split$(AB)-C$. The states are NPT entanglement and $1$-copy undistillable for the bipartite splits $A-(BC)$ and $B-(AC)$. Moreover, we generalize the results of $2\otimes2\otimes2$ systems to the case of $2n\otimes 2n\otimes2n$ systems.
The geometric discord $\mathcal{D}$ of a state is a measure of the quantumness of the state and the negativity $\mathcal{N}$ is a measure of the entanglement of a state. It was proved by D. Girolami and G. Adesso that for states on $\mathbb{C}^2\otimes\mathbb{C}^2$, the geometric discord is always greater than or equal to the square of the negativity and conjectured that this holds in general. S. Rana and P. Parashar showed that this relation does not hold for all states on $\mathbb{C}^2\otimes\mathbb{C}^n$ for $n>2$. We provide several analytic families of states on $\mathbb{C}^2\otimes\mathb…
Witness Operator Provides Better Estimate of the Lower Bound of Concurrence of Bipartite Bound Entangled States in $d_{1}\otimes d_{2}$ Dimensional System
Braunstein et. al. have started the study of entanglement properties of the quantum states through graph theoretical approach. Their idea was to start from a simple unweighted graph $G$ and then they have defined the quantum state from the Laplacian of the graph $G$. A lot of research had already been done using the similar idea. We ask here the opposite one i.e can we generate a graph from the density matrix? To investigate this question, we have constructed a unital map $ϕ$ such that $ϕ(ρ)=L_ρ+ρ$, where the quantum state is described by the density operator $ρ$. The entries of $L_ρ$ depends …
Entanglement distillation is a basic task in quantum information, and the distillable entanglement of three bipartite reduced density matrices from a tripartite pure state has been studied in [Phys. Rev. A 84, 012325 (2011)]. We extend this result to tripartite mixed states by studying a conjectured matrix inequality, namely $\mathop{\rm rank}(\sum_i R_i \otimes S_i)\leq K \mathop{\rm rank}(\sum_i R_i^T \otimes S_i)$ holds for any bipartite matrix $M=\sum_i R_i \otimes S_i$ and Schmidt rank $K$. We prove that the conjecture holds for $M$ with $K=3$ and some special $M$ with arbitrary $K$.
We construct a density matrix whose elements are written in terms of expectation values of non-Hermitian operators and their products for arbitrary dimensional bipartite states. We then show that any expression which involves matrix elements can be reformulated by the expectation values of these non-Hermitian operators and vice versa. We consider the condition of pure states and pure product states and rewrite them in terms of expectation values and density matrix elements respectively. We utilize expectation values of these operators to present the condition for separability of ${C}^d \otimes…
A distinguishability operator is defined for the continuous-time quantum walk (CTQW) of a bipartite quantum walker on two simply connected graphs, $W_{G_i,G_j} = U_{G_i}\left(t\right) \otimes U_{G_j}\left(t'\right) - U_{G_j}\left(t'\right) \otimes U_{G_i}\left(t\right)$, where $U_{G_i}\left(t\right)$ is the unitary CTQW operator for a labeled graph $G_i$ over a time interval $t$. The null space of $W_{G_i,G_j}$ defines the vector space of initial bipartite states whose time development is either constant or only dependent on $t + t'$ and is invariant to which quantum walker subsystem goes with…
We address the problem of optimising entanglement witnesses when a limited fixed set of local measurements can be performed on a bipartite system, thus providing a procedure, feasible also for experiments, to detect entangled states using only the statistics of these local measurements. We completely characterize the class of entanglement witnesses of the form $W = P ^Γ$, where $Γ$ denotes partial transposition, that can be constructed from the measurements of the bipartite operators $σ_{x}\otimesσ_{x},$ $σ_{y}\otimesσ_{y}$ and $σ_{z}\otimesσ_{z}$ in the case of two-qubit systems. In particula…
Quantum steering describes the ability of one observer to nonlocally affect the other observer's state through local measurements, which represents a new form of quantum nonlocal correlation and has potential applications in quantum information and quantum communication. In this paper, we propose a computable steering criterion that is applicable to bipartite quantum systems of arbitrary dimensions. The criterion can be used to verify a wide range of steerable states directly from a given density matrix without constructing measurement settings. Compared with the existing steering criteria, it…
We propose an explicit protocol for the deterministic transformations of bipartite pure states in any dimension using deterministic transformations in lower dimensions. As an example, explicit solutions for the deterministic transformations of $3\otimes 3$ pure states by a single measurement are obtained, and an explicit protocol for the deterministic transformations of $n\otimes n$ pure states by three-outcome measurements is presented.
In the general bipartite quantum system $m \otimes n$, Wang \emph{et al.} [Y.-L Wang \emph{et al.}, Phys. Rev. A \textbf{92}, 032313 (2015)] presented $3(m+n)-9$ orthogonal product states which cannot be distinguished by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). In this paper, we aim to construct less locally indistinguishable orthogonal product states in $m\otimes n $. First, in $3\otimes n (3< n)$ quantum system, we construct $3n-2$ locally indistinguishable orthogonal product states which are not unextendible product bases. Then, for $m\otimes n (4\leq m\leq n)$, we present $3n+m…
We describe a criterion for the detection of entanglement between two multi-boson systems. The criterion is based on calculating correlations of Gell-Mann matrices with a fixed boson number on each subsystem. This applies naturally to systems such as two entangled spinor Bose-Einstein condensates. We apply our criterion to several experimentally motivated examples, such as an $ S^z S^z $ entangled BECs, ac Stark shift induced two-mode squeezed BECs, and photons under parametric down conversion. We find that entanglement can be detected for all parameter regions for the most general criterion. …

State space structure of tripartite quantum systems is analyzed. In particular, it has been shown that the set of states separable across all the three bipartitions [say $\mathcal{B}^{int}(ABC)$] is a strict subset of the set of states having positive partial transposition (PPT) across the three bipartite cuts [say $\mathcal{P}^{int}(ABC)$] for all the tripartite Hilbert spaces $\mathbb{C}_A^{d_1}\otimes\mathbb{C}_B^{d_2}\otimes\mathbb{C}_C^{d_3}$ with $\min\{d_1,d_2,d_3\}\ge2$. The claim is proved by constructing state belonging to the set $\mathcal{P}^{int}(ABC)$ but not belonging to $\mathc…
Reduction criterion of separability and limits for a class of protocols of entanglement distillation
分析了高维复合系统中混合态纠缠的蒸馏问题。应用正映射方法[M. Horodecki等人,Phys. Lett. One-qubit pure states, living on the surface of Bloch sphere, can be mapped onto the usual complex plane by using stereographic projection. In this paper, after reviewing the entanglement of two-qubit pure state, it is shown that the \emph{quaternionic} stereographic projection is related to concurrence measure. This is due to the fact that every two-qubit state, in ordinary complex field, corresponds to the one-qubit state in quaternionic skew field, called quaterbit. Like the one-qubit states in complex field, the stereographic projection maps every quaterbit onto a quaternion number whose c…
In this short note we show two completely opposite methods of constructing entangled states. Given a bipartite state $γ\in M_k\otimes M_k$, define $γ_S=(Id+F)γ(Id+F)$, $γ_A=(Id-F)γ(Id-F)$, where $F\in M_k\otimes M_k$ is the flip operator. In the first method, entanglement is a consequence of the inequality $\text{rank}(γ_S)<\sqrt{\text{rank}(γ_A)}$. In the second method, there is no correlation between $γ_S$ and $γ_A$. These two methods show how diverse is quantum entanglement. We prove that any bipartite state $γ\in M_k\otimes M_k$ satisfies $\displaystyle SN(γ)\geq\max \left\{ \frac{\text{ra…
It is known that realignment crierion is necessary but not a sufficient criterion for lower as well as higher dimensional system. In this work, we first consider a two-qubit system and derived the necessary and sufficient condition based on realignment operation for a particular class of two-qubit system. Thus we solved the problem of if and only if condition partially for a particular class of two-qubit state. We have shown that the derived necessary and sufficient condition detects two-qubit entangled states, which are not detected by the realignment criterion. Next, we discuss the higher di…
Usual separability criteria applicable to distinguishable particles are not applicable to identical particles. Here we show that Partial transposition and symmetrization (or anti symmetrization) of density matrix of bipartite boson systems (fermion systems) can be used to check whether a state is separable or not.By using determinant based separability criteria it has been found that bipartite states of identical particles are always separable. It is found that partial transposition and symmetrization is equivalent to realignment criteria proposed by Wu.
Presence of correlations among the constituent quantum systems has a great relevance in thermodynamics. Significant efforts have been devoted to investigate the role of correlations in work extraction, among others. Here, we derive a bound on the difference between global and local extractable work by unitary operations (ergotropic gap), for bipartite separable states. Violation of this bound necessarily certifies the presence of entanglement. This gap is shown to be a monotone under LOCC assisted state transformations for pure bipartite quantum states. Our criterion has an implication in witn…
Entanglement detection problem is one of the important problem in quantum information theory. Gurvit showed that this problem is NP complete and thus this may be the possible reason that only one criterion is not sufficient to detect all entangled states. There are some powerful entanglement detection criterion such as partial transposition criterion, realignment criterion but it may not be possible to implement them successfully in the experiment. This situation can be avoided if the entanglement is detected through the construction of witness operator method. In this work, we take an analyti…
