For a tripartite pure state superposed by two individual states, the bipartitely shared entanglement can always be achieved by local measurements of the third party. Consider the different aims of the third party, i.e. maximizing or minimizing the bipartitely shared entanglement, we find bounds on both the possible bipartitely shared entanglement of the superposition state in terms of the corresponding entanglement of the two states being superposed. In particular, by choosing the concurrence as bipartite entanglement measure, we obtain calculable bounds for tripartite $(2\otimes 2\otimes n)$ -dimensional cases.
Nonlocality captures one of the counterintuitive features of nature that defies classical intuition. Recent investigations reveal that our physical world's nonlocality is at least tripartite; i.e., genuinely tripartite nonlocal correlations in nature cannot be reproduced by any causal theory involving bipartite nonclassical resources and unlimited shared randomness. Here, by allowing the fair sampling assumption and postselection, we experimentally demonstrate such genuine tripartite nonlocality in a network under strict locality constraints that are ensured by spacelike separating all relevan…

Quantum theory predicts the existence of genuinely tripartite-entangled states, which cannot be obtained from local operations over any bipartite entangled states and unlimited shared randomness. Some of us recently proved that this feature is a fundamental signature of quantum theory. The state $\left|{GHZ}_3\right\rangle=(\left|000\right\rangle+\left|111\right\rangle)/\sqrt{2}$ gives rise to tripartite quantum correlations which cannot be explained by any causal theory limited to bipartite nonclassical common causes of any kind (generalising entanglement) assisted with unlimited shared rando…
We study genuine tripartite entanglement shared among the spins of three localized fermions in the non-interacting Fermi gas at zero temperature. Firstly, we prove analytically with the aid of entanglement witnesses that in a particular configuration the three fermions are genuinely tripartite entangled. Then various three-fermion configurations are investigated in order to quantify and calculate numerically the amount of genuine tripartite entanglement present in the system. Further we give a lower and an upper limit to the maximum diameter of the three-fermion configuration below which genui…
We propose a robust and efficient approach for tripartite-to-bipartite entanglement localization. By using weak measurements and quantum measurement reversal, an almost maximal entangled state shared by two parties can be generated with the assistance of the third party by local quantum operations and classical communication from a W-like state. We show that this approach works well in the presence of losses and phase diffusion. Our method provides an active way to fight against decoherence, and might help for quantum communication and distributed quantum computation.
Entanglement is a well-known resource in quantum information, in particular it can be exploited for quantum key distribution (QKD). In this paper we define a two-way QKD scheme employing GHZ-type states of three qubits obtaining an extension of the standard E91 protocol with a significant increasing of the number of shared bits. Eavesdropping attacks can be detected measuring violation of the CHSH inequality and the secret key rate can be estimated in a device-independent scenario.
We show that some tripartite quantum correlations are inexplicable by any causal theory involving bipartite nonclassical common causes and unlimited shared randomness. This constitutes a device-independent proof that Nature's nonlocality is fundamentally at least tripartite in every conceivable physical theory - no matter how exotic. To formalize this claim we are compelled to substitute Svetlichny's historical definition of genuine tripartite nonlocality with a novel theory-agnostic definition tied to the framework of Local Operations and Shared Randomness (LOSR). A companion article [PRA. 10…
Due to the difficulties present in experimentally preparing genuine tripartite entanglement, it is important to explore the possibility of multiple usage of a single genuine entangled state. In the present paper, we present one such possibility by considering a scenario consisting of three spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ particles shared between Alice, Bob and multiple Charlies. Alice performs measurements on the first particle, Bob performs measurements on the second particle and multiple Charlies perform measurements on the third particle sequentially and independently. In this scenario, we investigate w…
We show how to make quantum networks, both standard and entanglement-based, genuine quantum by providing them with the possibility of handling superposed tasks and superposed addressing. This extension of their functionality relies on a quantum control register, which specifies not only the task of the network, but also the corresponding weights in a coherently superposed fashion. Although adding coherent control to classical tasks, such as sending or measuring -or not doing so-, is in general impossible, we introduce protocols that are able to mimick this behavior under certain conditions. We…
The study of classical and quantum correlations in bipartite and multipartite systems is crucial for the development of quantum information theory. Among the quantifiers adopted in tripartite systems, the genuine tripartite quantum discord (GTQD), estimating the amount of quantum correlations shared among all the subsystems, plays a key role since it represents the natural extension of quantum discord used in bipartite systems. In this paper, we derive an analytical expression of GTQD for three-qubit systems characterized by a subclass of symmetrical X-states. Our approach has been tested on b…
We develop a connection between tripartite information $I_3$, secret sharing protocols and multi-unitaries. This leads to explicit ((2,3)) threshold schemes in arbitrary dimension minimizing tripartite information $I_3$. As an application we show that Page scrambling unitaries simultaneously work for all secrets shared by Alice. Using the $I_3$-Ansatz for imperfect sharing schemes we discover examples of VIP sharing schemes.
In this work, we investigate the controlled teleportation protocol using optical qubits within the single-rail logic. The protocol makes use of an entangled tripartite state shared by the controller and two further parties (users) who will perform standard teleportation. The goal of the protocol is to guarantee that the teleportation is successful only with the permission of the controller. Optical qubits based on either superpositions of vacuum and single-photon states or superposition of coherent states are employed here to encode a tripartite maximal slice state upon which the protocol is b…
We present a family of tri-partite entangled states that, in an asymptotical sense, can be reversibly converted into EPR states shared by only two of parties (say B and C), and tripartite GHZ states. Thus we show that bipartite and genuine tripartite entanglement can be reversibly combined in several copies of a single tripartite state. For such states the corresponding fractions of GHZ and of EPR states represent a complete quantification of their (asymptotical) entanglement resources. More generally, we show that the three different kinds of bipartite entanglement (AB, AC and BC EPR states) …
We strengthen the set of Bell-type inequalities presented by Sun & Fei [Phys. Rev. A 74, 032335 (2006)] that give a classification for biseparable correlations and entanglement in tripartite quantum systems. We will furthermore consider the restriction to local orthogonal spin observables and show that this strengthens all previously known such tripartite inequalities. The quadratic inequalities we find indicate a type of monogamy of maximal biseparable three-particle quantum correlations, although the nonmaximal ones can be shared. This is contrasted to recently found monogamy inequalities fo…
In quantum mechanics some spatially separated sub-systems behave as if they are part of a single system, the superposition of states of this single system cannot be written as products of states of individual sub-systems,we say that the state of such system is entangled, such systems give rise to non-local correlations between outcomes of measurements. The non-local correlations are conditional probability distributions of some measurement outcomes given some measurement settings and cannot be explained by shared information. These correlations can be studied using a non-local box(NLB) which ca…
Recently, Harrow et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 187901 (2004)] gave a method for preparing an arbitrary quantum state with high success probability by physically transmitting some qubits, and by consuming a maximally entangled state, together with exhausting some shared random bits. In this paper, we discover that some states are impossible to be perfectly prepared by Alice and Bob initially sharing those entangled states that are superposed by the ground states, as the states to be prepared. In particular, we present a sufficient and necessary condition for the states being enabled to be exactl…
We investigate entanglement of the Hawking radiation in a dispersive model with subluminal dispersion. In this model, feature of the Hawking radiation is represented by three mode Bogoliubov transformation connecting the in-vacuum state and the out-state. We obtain the exact form of the tripartite in-vacuum state which encodes structure of multipartite entanglement. Bogoliubov coefficients are computed by numerical calculation of the wave equation with subluminal dispersion and it is found that genuine tripartite entanglement persists in whole frequency range up to the cutoff arisen from the s…
Many-body states that are invariant under particle relabelling, the permutation symmetric states, occur naturally when the system dynamics is described by symmetric processes or collective spin operators. We derive expressions for the reduced density matrix for arbitrary subsystem decomposition for these states and study properties of permutation symmetric states and their subsystems when the joint system is picked randomly and uniformly. Thus defining a new random matrix ensemble, we find the average linear entropy and von Neumann entropy which implies that random permutation symmetric states…
Steerability is a characteristic of quantum correlations lying in between entanglement and Bell nonlocality. Understanding how these steering correlations can be shared between different parties has profound applications in ensuring security of quantum communication protocols. Here we show that at most two bipartite reduced states of a three qubit state can violate the three settings CJWR linear steering inequality contrary to two settings linear steering inequality. This result explains that quantum steering correlations have limited shareability properties and can sometimes even be nonmonoga…
For a tripartite pure state of three qubits, it is well known that there are two inequivalent classes of genuine tripartite entanglement, namely the GHZ-class and the W-class. Any two states within the same class can be transformed into each other with stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) with a non-zero probability. The optimal conversion probability, however, is only known for special cases. Here, we derive new lower and upper bounds for the optimal probability of transformation from a GHZ-state to other states of the GHZ-class. A key idea in the derivation of the …
Improving the probabilistic quantum teleportation efficiency of arbitrary superposed coherent state using multipartite even and odd j-spin coherent states as resource
Quantum mechanics ensures that the information stored in a quantum state is secure and the ability to send private information through a quantum channel is at least as great as the coherent information. We derive trade-off relations between quantum privacy, information gain by Eve and the disturbance caused by Eve to the quantum state that is being sent through a noisy channel. For tripartite quantum states, we show that monogamy of privacy exists in the case of a single sender and multiple receivers. When Alice prepares a tripartite entangled state and shares it with Bob and Charlie through t…
We investigate the possibility of multiple use of a single copy of three-qubit states for genuine tripartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering. A pure three-qubit state of either the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ)-type or W-type is shared between two fixed observers in two wings and a sequence of multiple observers in the third wing who perform unsharp or non-projective measurements. The choice of measurement settings for each of the multiple observers in the third wing is independent and uncorrelated with the measurement settings and outcomes of the previous observers. We investigate …
A scheme to generate shared tripartite entangled states, with two-trapped atoms in a cavity held by Alice (qubits A1 and A2) entangled to a single trapped atom in a remote lab owned by Bob (B), is proposed. The entanglement is generated through interaction of trapped atoms with two mode squeezed light shared by the two cavities. The proposed scheme is an extension of the proposal of ref. [W. Son, M. S. Kim, J. Lee, and D. Ahn, J. Mod. Opt. 49, 1739 (2002)], where the possibility of entangling two remote qubits using a bipartite continuous variable state was examined. While the global negativit…
In an effort to simplify the classification of pure entangled states of multi (m) -partite quantum systems, we study exactly and asymptotically (in n) reversible transformations among n'th tensor powers of such states (ie n copies of the state shared among the same m parties) under local quantum operations and classical communication (LOCC). With regard to exact transformations, we show that two states whose 1-party entropies agree are either locally-unitarily (LU) equivalent or else LOCC-incomparable. In particular we show that two tripartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states are LOCC-…
One of the fundamental differences between classical and quantum mechanics is in the ways correlations can be distributed among the many parties that compose a system. While classical correlations can be shared among many subsystems, in general quantum correlations cannot be freely shared. This unique property is known as monogamy of quantum correlations. In this work, we study the monogamy properties of the correlated coherence for the l 1 -norm and relative entropy measures of coherence. For the l 1 -norm the correlated coherence is monogamous for a particular class of quantum states. For th…
While quantum entanglement is known to be monogamous (i.e. shared entanglement is restricted in multi-partite settings), here we show that distributed entanglement (or the potential for entanglement) is by nature polygamous. By establishing the concept of one-way unlocalizable entanglement (UE) and investigating its properties, we provide a polygamy inequality of distributed entanglement in tripartite quantum systems of arbitrary dimension. We also provide a polygamy inequality in multi-qubit systems, and several trade offs between UE and other correlation measures.
We consider implementations of a bipartite unitary on many pairs of unknown input states by local operation and classical communication assisted by shared entanglement. We investigate to what extent the entanglement cost and the classical communication cost can be compressed by allowing nonzero but vanishing error in the asymptotic limit of infinite pairs. We show that a lower bound on the minimal entanglement cost, the forward classical communication cost, and the backward classical communication cost per pair is given by the Schmidt strength of the unitary. We also prove that an upper bound …
We address measurement-based generation of quantum coherence in continuous variable systems. We consider Gaussian measurements performed on Gaussian states and focus on two scenarios. In the first one, we assume an initially correlated bipartite state shared by two parties and study how correlations may be exploited to remotely create quantum coherence via measurement back-action. In particular, we focus on conditional states with zero first moments, so as to address coherence due to properties of the covariance matrix. We consider different classes of bipartite states with incoherent marginal…
We present a deterministic secure direct communication scheme via entanglement swapping, where a set of ordered maximally entangled three-particle states (GHZ states), initially shared by three spatially separated parties, Alice, Bob and Charlie, functions as a quantum information channel. After ensuring the safety of the quantum channel, Alice and Bob apply a series local operations on their respective particles according to the tripartite stipulation and the secret message they both want to send to Charlie. By three Alice, Bob and Charlie's Bell measurement results, Charlie is able to infer …
State redistribution is the protocol in which, given an arbitrary tripartite quantum state, with two of the subsystems initially being with Alice and one being with Bob, the goal is for Alice to send one of her subsystems to Bob, possibly with the help of prior shared entanglement. We derive an upper bound on the second order asymptotic expansion for the quantum communication cost of achieving state redistribution with a given finite accuracy. In proving our result, we also obtain an upper bound on the quantum communication cost of this protocol in the one-shot setting, by using the protocol o…
Quantum secret sharing is one of the most important and interesting quantum information processing task. In quantum secret sharing, information is split among several parties such that only one of them is able to recover the qubit exactly provided all the other parties agree to cooperate. To achieve this task, all the parties need to share entangled state. As far as my knowledge, all the previous quantum secret sharing protocol used either pure tripartite or pure bipartite entangled state. In this work we use for the first time bipartite two qubit mixed state (formed due to noisy environment) …
We study a generalization of nonlocal games---which we call extended nonlocal games---in which the players, Alice and Bob, initially share a tripartite quantum state with the referee. In such games, the winning conditions for Alice and Bob may depend on outcomes of measurements made by the referee, on its part of the shared quantum state, in addition to Alice and Bob's answers to randomly selected questions. Our study of this class of games was inspired by the monogamy-of-entanglement games introduced by Tomamichel, Fehr, Kaniewski, and Wehner, which they also generalize. We prove that a natur…
We study multi-partite entanglement, the generation of EPR states and quantum steering in a three-mode optomechanical system composed of an atomic ensemble located inside a single-mode cavity with a movable mirror. The cavity mode is driven by a short laser pulse, has a nonlinear parametric-type interaction with the mirror and a linear beamsplitter-type interaction with the atomic ensemble. There is no direct interaction of the mirror with the atomic ensemble. A threshold effect for the dynamics of the system is found, above which the system works as an amplifier and below which as an attenuat…
The uncertainty principle sets lower bound on the uncertainties of two incompatible observables measured on a particle. The uncertainty lower bound can be reduced by considering a particle as a quantum memory entangled with the measured particle. In this paper, we consider a tripartite scenario in which a quantum state has been shared between Alice, Bob, and Charlie. The aim of Bob and Charlie is to minimize Charlie's lower bound about Alice's measurement outcomes. To this aim, they concentrate their correlation with Alice in Charlie's side via a cooperative strategy based on local operations …
We analyze implementations of bipartite unitaries by means of local operations and classical communication (LOCC) assisted by shared entanglement. We employ concepts and techniques developed in quantum Shannon theory to study an asymptotic scenario, in which two distant parties perform the same bipartite unitary on infinitely many pairs of inputs. We analyze minimum cost of entanglement and classical communication per copy. For two-round LOCC protocols, we derive a single-letter formula for the minimum cost of entanglement and classical communication, under an additional requirement that the e…
We propose an entanglement sharing protocol based on separable states. Initially, two parties, Alice and Bob, share a two-mode separable Gaussian state. Alice then splits her mode into two separable modes and distributes them between two players. Bob is separable from the players but he can create entanglement with either of the players if the other player moves to his location and collaborates with him. Any two parties are separable and the creation of entanglement is thus mediated by transmission of a mode which is separable from individual modes on Alice's and Bob's side. For the state shar…
Monogamy inequalities for the way bipartite EPR steering can be distributed among N systems are derived. One set of inequalities is based on witnesses with two measurement settings, and may be used to demonstrate correlation of outcomes between two parties, that cannot be shared with more parties. It is shown that the monogamy for steering is directional. Two parties cannot independently demonstrate steering of a third system, using the same two-setting steering witness, but it is possible for one party to steer two independent systems. This result explains the monogamy of two-setting Bell ine…
Quantum key distribution uses public discussion protocols to establish shared secret keys. In the exploration of ultimate limits to such protocols, the property of symmetric extendibility of underlying bipartite states $ρ_{AB}$ plays an important role. A bipartite state $ρ_{AB}$ is symmetric extendible if there exits a tripartite state $ρ_{ABB'}$, such that the $AB$ marginal state is identical to the $AB'$ marginal state, i.e. $ρ_{AB'}=ρ_{AB}$. For a symmetric extendible state $ρ_{AB}$, the first task of the public discussion protocol is to break this symmetric extendibility. Therefore to char…
Quantum state merging is one of the most important protocols in quantum information theory. In this task two parties aim to merge their parts of a pure tripartite state by making use of additional singlets while preserving correlations with a third party. We study a variation of this scenario where the shared state is not necessarily pure, and the merging parties have free access to local operations, classical communication, and PPT entangled states. We provide general conditions for a state to admit perfect merging, and present a family of fully separable states which cannot be perfectly merg…
