In this paper we present a two-component generalization of the C-integrable Calogero equation (see [1]). This system is C-integrable as well, and moreover we show that the Calogero equation and its two-component generalization are solvable by a reciprocal transformation to ODE's. Simultaneously we obtain a generalized Liouville equation (34), determined by two arbitrary functions of one variable.
In previous work, we introduced a class of integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems associated with the classical dynamical r-matrices with spectral parameter, as classified by Etingof and Varchenko for simple Lie algebras. Here the main purpose is to establish the Liouville integrability of these systems by a uniform method.
Liouville integrability of classical Calogero-Moser models is proved for models based on any root systems, including the non-crystallographic ones. It applies to all types of elliptic potentials, i.e. untwisted and twisted together with their degenerations (hyperbolic, trigonometric and rational), except for the rational potential models confined by a harmonic force.
We complete the recent derivation of a Ruijsenaars type system that arises as a reduction of the natural free system on the Heisenberg double of SU(n,n). The previous analysis by Marshall focused on a dense open submanifold of the reduced phase space, and here we describe the full phase space wherein Liouville integrability of the system holds by construction.
We present a general scheme for constructing the Poisson structure of super-integrable dynamical systems of which the rational Calogero-Moser system is one of the most interesting one. This dynamical system is $2N$ dimensional with $2N- 1$ first integrals and our construction yields $2N-1$ degenerate Poisson tensors that each admit $2(N-1)$ Casimirs. Our results are quite generally applicable to all super-integrable systems and form an alternative to the traditional bi-Hamiltonian approach.
This thesis presents our results on Liouville integrable systems of Calogero-Ruijsenaars type: 1. We prove an explicit formula providing canonical spectral coordinates for the rational Calogero-Moser system. 2. We explore action-angle duality for the trigonometric BC(n) Sutherland system using Hamiltonian reduction. 3. We derive a Poisson-Lie deformation of the trigonometric BC(n) Sutherland system using Hamiltonian reduction. 4. We construct a Lax pair for the hyperbolic Ruijsenaars-Schneider system with two couplings. 5. We present an explicit construction of compactified trigonometric and e…
Combining theorems of Halphen, Floquet, and Picard and a Frobenius type analysis, we characterize rational, meromorphic simply periodic, and elliptic KdV potentials. In particular, we explicitly describe the proper extension of the Calogero--Moser locus associated with these three classes of algebro-geometric solutions of the KdV hierarchy with special emphasis on the case of multiple collisions between the poles of solutions.
We prove uniqueness of solutions for the nonlocal Liouville equation $$ (-Δ)^{1/2} w = K e^w \quad \mbox{in $\mathbb{R}$} $$ with finite total $Q$-curvature $\int_{\mathbb{R}} K e^w \, dx< +\infty$. Here the prescribed $Q$-curvature function $K=K(|x|) > 0$ is assumed to be a positive, symmetric-decreasing function satisfying suitable regularity and decay bounds. In particular, we obtain uniqueness of solutions in the Gaussian case with $K(x) = \exp(-x^2)$. Our uniqueness proof exploits a connection of the nonlocal Liouville equation to ground state solitons for Calogero--Moser derivative NLS, …
We consider a class of Hamiltonian systems in 3 degrees of freedom, with a particular type of quadratic integral and which includes the rational Calogero-Moser system as a particular case. For the general class, we introduce separation coordinates to find the general separable (and therefore Liouville integrable) system, with two quadratic integrals. This gives a coupling of the Calogero-Moser system with a large class of potentials, generalising the series of potentials which are separable in parabolic coordinates. Particular cases are {\em superintegrable}, including Kepler and a resonant os…
We show that the three body Calogero model with inverse square potentials can be interpreted as a maximally superintegrable and multiseparable system in Euclidean three-space. As such it is a special case of a family of systems involving one arbitrary function of one variable.
The solitons of affine Toda field theory are related to the spin-generalised Ruijsenaars-Schneider (or relativistic Calogero-Moser) models. This provides the sought after extension of the correspondence between the sine-Gordon solitons and the Ruijsenaars-Schneider model.
We give an explicit and concise formula for higher-degree polynomial first integrals of a family of Calogero-type Hamiltonian systems in dimension three. These first integrals, together with the already known ones, prove the maximal superintegrability of the systems.
We solve the eigenvalue problem of the $D_N$ type of Calogero model by mapping it to a set of decoupled quantum harmonic oscillators through a similarity transformation. In particular, we construct the eigenfunctions of this Calogero model from those of bosonic harmonic oscillators having either all even parity or all odd parity. It turns out that the eigenfunctions of this model are orthogonal with respect to a nontrivial inner product, which can be derived from the quasi-Hermiticity property of the corresponding conserved quantities.
Calogero-Moser systems can be generalized for any root system (including the non-crystallographic cases). The algebraic linearization of the generalized Calogero-Moser systems and of their quadratic (resp. quartic) perturbations are discussed.
We consider the classical Calogero-Sutherland system with two types of interacting spin variables. It can be reduced to the standard Calogero-Sutherland system, when one of the spin variables vanishes. We describe the model in the Hitchin approach and prove complete integrability of the system by constructing the Lax pair and the classical $r$-matrix with the spectral parameter on a singular curve.
The Calogero type matrix discretization scheme is applied to constructing the Lax type integrable discretizations of one wide enough class of nonlinear integrable dynamical systems on functional manifolds. Their Lie-algebraic structure and complete integrability related with co-adjoint orbits on the Markov co-algebras is discussed. It is shown that a set of conservation laws and the associated Poisson structure ensue as a byproduct of the approach devised. Based on the Lie algebras quasi-representation property the limiting procedure of finding the nonlinear dynamical systems on the correspond…
We investigate algebraic structure for the $B_N$-type Calogero model by using the exchange-operator formalism. We show that the set of the Jack polynomials whose arguments are Dunkl-type operators provides an orthogonal basis.
New classical integrable systems of Camassa-Holm peakon type are proposed. They realize the maximal even piecewise-D_2 generalization of the Calogero-Francoise flows, yielding periodic and pseudoperiodic trigonometric/hyperbolic potentials. The associated r-matrices are computed. They are dynamical and depend on both sets {p_i} and {q_i} of canonical variables.
We construct a class of interacting spin Calogero-Moser type systems. They can be regarded as a many particle system with spin degrees of freedom and as an integrable spin chain of Gaudin type. We prove that these Hamiltonian systems are superintegrable.
An exactly solvable many-particle quantum system is proposed by adding some nonhermitian but PT invariant interactions to the $B_N$ Calogero model. We have shown that such extended $B_N$ Calogero model leads to completely real spectrum which obey generalised exclusion statistics. It is also found that the corresponding exchange statistics parameter exhibit `reflection symmetry' provided the strength of a PT invariant interaction exceeds a critical value.
We establish the exact correspondence of the Calogero-Marchioro-Wolfes model and several of its generalizations with free oscillators. This connection yields the eigenstates and leads to a proof of the quantum integrability. The usefulness of our method for finding new solvable models is then demonstrated by an example.
The Bianchi type I cosmological model is brought into a form where the evolution of observables is governed by the unconstrained Hamiltonian that coincides with the Hamiltonian describing the relative motion of particles in the integrable three-body hyperbolic Euler-Calogero-Sutherland system.
A new family of A_N-type Dunkl operators preserving a polynomial subspace of finite dimension is constructed. Using a general quadratic combination of these operators and the usual Dunkl operators, several new families of exactly and quasi-exactly solvable quantum spin Calogero-Sutherland models are obtained. These include, in particular, three families of quasi-exactly solvable elliptic spin Hamiltonians.
We give the construction of quantum Lax equations for IRF models and difference versions of Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models introduced by Ruijsenaars. We solve the equations using factorization properties of the underlying face Hopf algebras/elliptic quantum groups. This construction is in the spirit of the Adler-Kostant-Symes method and generalizes our previous work to the case of face Hopf algebras/elliptic quantum groups with dynamical R-matrices.
We study a one-dimensional model with F interacting families of Calogero-type particles. The model includes harmonic, two-body and three-body interactions. We emphasize the universal SU(1,1) structure of the model. We show how SU(1,1) generators for the whole system are composed of SU(1,1) generators of arbitrary subsystems. We find the exact eigenenergies corresponding to a class of the exact eigenstates of the F-family model. By imposing the conditions for the absence of the three-body interaction, we find certain relations between the coupling constants. Finally, we establish some relations…
We consider the inequivalent quantizations of a $N$-body rational Calogero model with a Coulomb type interaction. It is shown that for certain range of the coupling constants, this system admits a one-parameter family of self-adjoint extensions. We analyze both the bound and scattering state sectors and find novel solutions of this model. We also find the ladder operators for this system, with which the previously known solutions can be constructed.
We present and develop a recursion scheme to construct joint eigenfunctions for the commuting analytic difference operators associated with the integrable N-particle systems of hyperbolic relativistic Calogero-Moser type. The scheme is based on kernel identities we obtained in previous work. In this first paper of a series we present the formal features of the scheme, show explicitly its arbitrary-N viability for the `free' cases, and supply the analytic tools to prove the joint eigenfunction properties in suitable holomorphy domains.
We present a relationship between the Calogero-Moser particles confined in harmonic oscillator potentials and a representation theory of the infinite dimensional Lie algebra which is a semi-direct sum of Virasoro algebra and its module. More precisely, it is a correspondence of excited states of the model and singular vectors in Verma modules over the algebra. This is found by a free field realization of the time evolution operator of the model. We investigate the Verma modules and some explicit example of singular vectors are given.
We make a new multivariate generalization of the type A monomial space of a single variable. It is different from the previously introduced type A space of several variables which is an sl(M+1) module, and we thus call it type A'. We construct the most general quasi-solvable operator of (at most) second-order which preserves the type A' space. Investigating directly the condition under which the type A' operators can be transformed to Schroedinger operators, we obtain the complete list of the type A' quasi-solvable quantum many-body systems. In particular, we find new quasi-solvable models of …
The classical $R$-matrix structure for the $n$-particle Calogero-Moser models with (type IV) elliptic potentials is investigated. We show there is no momentum independent $R$-matrix (without spectral parameter) when $n\ge4$. The assumption of momentum independence is sufficient to reproduce the dynamical $R$-matrices of Avan and Talon for the type I,II,III degenerations of the elliptic potential. The inclusion of a spectral parameter enables us to find $R$-matrices for the general elliptic potential.
We review a recent construction of an explicit analytic series representation for symmetric polynomials which up to a groundstate factor are eigenfunctions of Calogero-Sutherland type models. We also indicate a generalisation of this result to polynomials which give the eigenfunctions of so-called 'deformed' Calogero-Sutherland type models.
There exists a large class of quantum many-body systems of Calogero-Sutherland type where all particles can have different masses and coupling constants and which nevertheless are such that one can construct a complete (in a certain sense) set of exact eigenfunctions and corresponding eigenvalues, explicitly. Of course there is a catch to this result: if one insists on these eigenfunctions to be square integrable then the corresponding Hamiltonian is necessarily non-hermitean (and thus provides an example of an exactly solvable PT-symmetric quantum-many body system), and if one insists on the …
In the two preceding parts of this series of papers, we introduced and studied a recursion scheme for constructing joint eigenfunctions $J_N(a_+, a_-,b;x,y)$ of the Hamiltonians arising in the integrable $N$-particle systems of hyperbolic relativistic Calogero-Moser type. We focused on the first steps of the scheme in Part I, and on the cases $N=2$ and $N=3$ in Part II. In this paper, we determine the dominant asymptotics of a similarity transformed function $\rE_N(b;x,y)$ for $y_j-y_{j+1}\to\infty$, $j=1,\ldots, N-1$, and thereby confirm the long standing conjecture that the particles in the …
Two families (type $A$ and type $B$) of confluent hypergeometric polynomials in several variables are studied. We describe the orthogonality properties, differential equations, and Pieri type recurrence formulas for these families. In the one-variable case, the polynomials in question reduce to the Hermite polynomials (type $A$) and the Laguerre polynomials (type $B$), respectively. The multivariable confluent hypergeometric families considered here may be used to diagonalize the rational quantum Calogero models with harmonic confinement (for the classical root systems) and are closely connect…
We construct several new families of exactly and quasi-exactly solvable BC_N-type Calogero-Sutherland models with internal degrees of freedom. Our approach is based on the introduction of two new families of Dunkl operators of B_N type which, together with the original B_N-type Dunkl operators, are shown to preserve certain polynomial subspaces of finite dimension. We prove that a wide class of quadratic combinations involving these three sets of Dunkl operators always yields a spin Calogero-Sutherland model, which is (quasi-)exactly solvable by construction. We show that all the spin Calogero…
I obtain the exact ground state of $N$-fermions in $D$-dimensions $(D \geq 2)$ in case the $N$ particles are interacting via long-ranged two-body and three-body interactions and further they are also interacting via the harmonic oscillator potential. I also obtain the $N$-fermion ground state in case the oscillator potential is replaced by an $N$-body Coulomb-like interaction.
In this paper we construct and prove superintegrability of spin Calogero-Moser type systems on symplectic leaves of $K_1\backslash T^*G/K_2$ where $K_1,K_2\subset G$ are subgroups. We call them two sided spin Calogero-Moser systems. One important type of such systems correspond to $K_1=K_2=K$ where $K$ is a subgroup of fixed points of Chevalley involution $θ: G\to G$. The other important series of examples come from pair $G\subset G\times G$ with the diagonal embedding. We explicitly describe examples of such systems corresponding to symplectic leaves of rank one when $G=SL_n$.
All Painlevé equations can be written as a time-dependent Hamiltonian system, and as such they admit a natural generalization to the case of several particles with an interaction of Calogero type (rational, trigonometric or elliptic). Recently, these systems of interacting particles have been proved to be relevant in the study of $β$-models. An almost two decade old open question by Takasaki asks whether these multi-particle systems can be understood as isomonodromic equations, thus extending the Painlevé correspondence. In this paper we answer in the affirmative by displaying explicitly suita…
Yang-Mills gauge theory models on a cylinder coupled to external matter charges provide powerful means to find and solve certain non-linear integrable systems. We show that, depending on the choice of gauge group and matter charges, such a Yang-Mills model is equivalent to trigonometric Calogero-Moser systems and certain known spin generalizations thereof. Choosing a more general ansatz for the matter charges allows us to obtain and solve novel integrable systems. The key property we use to prove integrability and to solve these systems is gauge invariance of the corresponding Yang-Mills model…
Calogero-Moser models and Toda models are well-known integrable multi-particle dynamical systems based on root systems associated with Lie algebras. The relation between these two types of integrable models is investigated at the levels of the Hamiltonians and the Lax pairs. The Lax pairs of Calogero-Moser models are specified by the representations of the reflection groups, which are not the same as those of the corresponding Lie algebras. The latter specify the Lax pairs of Toda models. The Hamiltonians of the elliptic Calogero-Moser models tend to those of Toda models as one of the periods …
A new formulation of Calogero-Moser models based on root systems and their Weyl group is presented. The general construction of the Lax pairs applicable to all models based on the simply-laced algebras (ADE) are given for two types which we call `root' and `minimal'. The root type Lax pair is new; the matrices used in its construction bear a resemblance to the adjoint representation of the associated Lie algebra, and exist for all models, but they do not contain elements associated with the zero weights corresponding to the Cartan subalgebra. The root type provides a simple method of construct…
We consider the variational principle for the Lagrangian 1-form structure for long-range models of Calogero-Moser (CM) type. The multiform variational principle involves variations with respect to both the field variables as well as the independent variables corresponding to deformations of the time-curves in a multi-time space. The ensuing generalised Euler-Lagrange (gEL) equations comprise a system of multi-time EL equations, as well as constraints from so-called `alien derivatives' and `corner equations' arising from how variations on different coordinate curves match up. The closure relati…
Quantum Calogero-Sutherland model of $A_n$ type is completely integrable. Using this fact, we give an elementary construction of lowering an raising operators for the trigonometric case. This is similar, but more complicated (due to the fact that the energy spectrum is not equidistant) than the construction for the rational case.
Calogero-Sutherland models associated to the Weyl groups of type A and B with exchange terms included in the Hamiltonians systems have non-symmetric eigenfunctions, which are products of the ground state with members of a family of orthogonal polynomials. These polynomials can be defined and studied by using the differential-difference operators introduced by the author in TAMS 1989 (311), 167-183. There is a study of polynomials which are invariant or alternating for parabolic subgroups of the symmetric group. The detailed analysis depends on using two bases of polynomials, one of which trans…
We show that the integrability of the dynamical system recently proposed by Calogero and characterized by the Hamiltonian $ H = \sum_{j,k}^{N} p_j p_k \{λ+ μcos [ ν( q_j - q_k)] \} $ is due to a simple algebraic structure . It is shown that the integrals of motion are related to the Casimiar invariants of of the $su(1,1)$ algebra. Our method shows clearly how these types of systems can be generalized .
We introduce spin Calogero-Moser systems associated with root systems of simple Lie algebras and give the associated Lax representations (with spectral parameter) and fundamental Poisson bracket relations. The associated integrable models (called integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems in the paper) and their Lax pairs are then obtained via Poisson reduction and gauge transformations. For Lie algebras of $A_{n}$-type, this new class of integrable systems includes the usual Calogero-Moser systems as subsystems. Our method is guided by a general framework which we develop here using dynamical Lie…
We show that the supersymmetric rational Calogero-Moser-Sutherland (CMS) model of A_{N+1}-type is equivalent to a set of free super-oscillators, through a similarity transformation. We prescribe methods to construct the complete eigen-spectrum and the associated eigen-functions, both in supersymmetry preserving as well as supersymmetry breaking phases, from the free super-oscillator basis. Further we show that a wide class of super-Hamiltonians realizing dynamical OSp(2|2) supersymmetry, which also includes all types of rational super-CMS as a small subset, are equivalent to free super-oscilla…
We consider the generalised Calogero-Moser-Sutherland quantum integrable system associated to the configuration of vectors $AG_2$, which is a union of the root systems $A_2$ and $G_2$. We establish the existence of and construct a suitably defined Baker-Akhiezer function for the system, and we show that it satisfies bispectrality. We also find two corresponding dual difference operators of rational Macdonald-Ruijsenaars type in an explicit form.
We study complex integrable systems on quiver varieties associated with the cyclic quiver, and prove their superintegrability by explicitly constructing first integrals. We interpret them as rational Calogero-Moser systems endowed with internal degrees of freedom called spins. They encompass the usual systems in type $A_{n-1}$ and $B_n$, as well as generalisations introduced by Chalykh and Silantyev in connection with the multicomponent KP hierarchy. We also prove that superintegrability is preserved when a harmonic oscillator potential is added.
The reductions of the free geodesic motion on a non-compact simple Lie group G based on the $G_+ \times G_+$ symmetry given by left- and right multiplications for a maximal compact subgroup $G_+ \subset G$ are investigated. At generic values of the momentum map this leads to (new) spin Calogero type models. At some special values the `spin' degrees of freedom are absent and we obtain the standard $BC_n$ Sutherland model with three independent coupling constants from SU(n+1,n) and from SU(n,n). This generalization of the Olshanetsky-Perelomov derivation of the $BC_n$ model with two independent …
Universal Lax pairs (the root type and the minimal type) are presented for Calogero-Moser models based on simply laced root systems, including E_8. They exist with and without spectral parameter and they work for all of the four choices of potentials: the rational, trigonometric, hyperbolic and elliptic. For the elliptic potential, the discrete symmetries of the simply laced models, originating from the automorphism of the extended Dynkin diagrams, are combined with the periodicity of the potential to derive a class of Calogero-Moser models known as the `twisted non-simply laced models'. For u…
Hamiltonian reduction is used to project a trivially integrable system on the Heisenberg double of $SU(n,n)$, to obtain a system of Ruijsenaars type on a suitable quotient space. This system possesses $BC_n$ symmetry and is shown to be equivalent to the standard three-parameter $BC_n$ hyperbolic Sutherland model in the cotangent bundle limit.
Multivariable generalizations of the classical Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials occur as the polynomial part of the eigenfunctions of certain Schrödinger operators for Calogero-Sutherland-type quantum systems. For the generalized Hermite and Laguerre polynomials the multidimensional analogues of many classical results regarding generating functions, differentiation and integration formulas, recurrence relations and summation theorems are obtained. We use this and related theory to evaluate the global limit of the ground state density, obtaining in the Hermite case the Wigner semi-circl…
We give detailed description for continuous version of the classical IRF-Vertex relation, where on the IRF side we deal with the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models. Our study is based on constructing modifications of the Higgs bundles of infinite rank over elliptic curve and its degenerations. In this way the previously predicted gauge equivalence between L-A pairs of the Landau-Lifshitz type equations and 1+1 field theory generalization of the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models is described. In this paper the ${\rm sl}_2$ case is studied. Explicit changes of variables are obtained between the rat…
The Heun equation can be rewritten as an eigenvalue equation for an ordinary differential operator of the form $-d^2/dx^2+V(g;x)$, where the potential is an elliptic function depending on a coupling vector $g\in{\mathbb R}^4$. Alternatively, this operator arises from the $BC_1$ specialization of the $BC_N$ elliptic nonrelativistic Calogero-Moser system (a.k.a. the Inozemtsev system). Under suitable restrictions on the elliptic periods and on $g$, we associate to this operator a self-adjoint operator $H(g)$ on the Hilbert space ${\mathcal H}=L^2([0,ω_1],dx)$, where $2ω_1$ is the real period of …
