We investigate covariant first order differential calculi on the quantum complex projective spaces CP_q^{N-1} which are quantum homogeneous spaces for the quantum group SU_q(N). Hereby, one more well-studied example of covariant first order differential calculus on a quantum homogeneous space is given. Since the complex projective spaces are subalgebras of the quantum spheres S_q^{2N-1} introduced by Vaksman and Soibelman, we get also an example of the relations between covariant differential calculus on two closely related quantum spaces.
Two approaches are combined in obtaining covariant first order differential calculi on CP_q^{N-1}: 1. restriction of covariant first order differential calculi from S_q^{2N-1}; 2. classification of calculi under appropriate constraints, using methods from representation theory.
The main result is that under three reasonable settings of dimension constraints, covariant first order differential calculi on CP_q^{N-1} exist and are (for N >= 6) uniquely determined. This is a clear difference as compared to the case of the quantum spheres where several parametrical series of calculi exist. For two of the constraint settings, the covariant first order calculi on CP_q^{N-1} are also obtained by restriction from calculi on S_q^{2N-1} as well as from calculi on the quantum group SU_q(N).
The dual coalgebra of Podleś' quantum sphere O_q(S^2_c) is determined explicitly. This result is used to classify all finite dimensional covariant first order differential calculi over O_q(S^2_c) for all but exceptional values of the parameter c.
Concepts of first order differential calculus (FODC) on a monoidal Hom-algebra and left-covariant FODC over a left Hom-quantum space with respect to a monoidal Hom-Hopf algebra are presented. Then, extension of the universal FODC over a monoidal Hom-algebra to a universal Hom-differential calculus is described. Next, concepts of left(right)-covariant and bicovariant FODC over a monoidal Hom-Hopf algebra are studied in detail. Subsequently, notion of quantum Hom-tangent space associated to a bicovariant Hom-FODC is introduced and equipped with an analogue of Lie bracket (commutator) through Wor…
We study covariant differential calculus on the quantum spheres S_q^{N-1} which are quantum homogeneous spaces with coactions of the quantum groups O_q(N). The first part of the paper is devoted to first order differential calculus. A classification result is proved which says that for N>=6 there exist exactly two covariant first order differential calculi on S_q^{N-1} which satisfy the classification constraint that the bimodule of one-forms is generated as a free left module by the differentials of the generators of S_q^{N-1}. Both calculi exist also for 3<=N<=5. The same calculi can be cons…
We study covariant differential calculus on the quantum spheres S_q^2N-1. Two classification results for covariant first order differential calculi are proved. As an important step towards a description of the noncommutative geometry of the quantum spheres, a framework of covariant differential calculus is established, including a particular first order calculus obtained by factorization, higher order calculi and a symmetry concept.
We show that the standard SU(n)-covariant Poisson sphere $S^{2n-1}$ is embedded in the nonstandard $SU(n+1)$-covariant Poisson complex projective spaces $CP^{n}$.
Covariant first order differential calculus over quantum complex Grassmann manifolds is considered. It is shown by a Pusz-Woronowicz type argument that under restriction to calculi close to classical Kaehler differentials there exist exactly two such calculi for the homogeneous coordinate ring. Complexification and localization procedures are used to induce covariant first order differential calculi over quantum Grassmann manifolds. It is shown that these differential calculi behave in many respects as their classical counterparts. As an example the q-deformed Chern character of the tautologic…
We construct the generalized version of covariant Z_3-graded differential calculus introduced by one of us (R.K.), and then extended to the case of arbitrary Z_N grading. Here our main purpose is to establish the recurrence formulae for the N-th power of covariant q-differential D_q = d_q + A and to analyze more closely the particular case of q being an Nth primitive root of unity. The generalized notions of connection and curvature are introduced and several examples of realization are displayed for N=3 and N=4. Finally we briefly discuss the idea of infinitesimal deformations of the paramete…
We extend projectively equivariant quantization and symbol calculus to symbols of pseudo-differential operators. An explicit expression in terms of hypergeometric functions with noncommutative arguments is given. Some examples are worked out, one of them yielding a quantum length element on $S^3$.
Given a bicovariant differential calculus $(\mathcal{E}, d)$ such that the braiding map is diagonalisable in a certain sense, the bimodule of two-tensors admits a direct sum decomposition into symmetric and anti-symmetric tensors. This is used to prove the existence of a bicovariant torsionless connection on $\mathcal{E}$. Following Heckenberger and Schm{ü}dgen, we study invariant metrics and the compatibility of covariant connections with such metrics. A sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of bicovariant Levi-Civita connections is derived. This condition is shown to hold for…
Let (G,d) be a first order differential *-calculus on a *-algebra A. We say that a pair (π,F) of a *-representation πof A on a dense domain D of a Hilbert space and a symmetric operator F on D gives a commutator representation of G if there exists a linear mapping t:G -> L(D) such that t(adb)=π(a)i[F,π(b)], a,b in A. Among others, it is shown that each left-covariant *-calculus G of a compact quantum group Hopf *-algebra A has a faithful commutator representation. For a class of bicovariant *-calculi on A there is a commutator representation such that F is the image of a central element of the…
We investigate a particular realization of generalized q-differential calculus of exterior forms on a smooth manifold based on the assumption that the N-th power (N>2) of exterior differential is equal to zero. It implies the existence of cyclic commutation relations for the differentials of first order and their generalization for the differentials of higher order. Special attention is paid to the cases N=3 and N=4. A covariant basis of the algebra of such q-grade forms is introduced, and the analogues of torsion and curvature of higher order are considered. We also study a graded exterior ca…
For transcendental values of q the quantum tangent spaces of all left-covariant first order differential calculi of dimension less than four on the quantum group $\SLq 2$ are given. All such differential calculi $Γ$ are determined and investigated for which the left-invariant differential one-forms $ω(u^1_2)$, $ω(u^2_1)$ and $ω(u^1_1-u^2_2)$ generate $Γ$ as a bimodule and the universal higher order differential calculus has the same dimension as in the classical case. Important properties (cohomology spaces, *-structures, braidings, generalized Lie brackets) of these calculi are examined as we…
We study $N^2-1$ dimensional left-covariant differential calculi on the quantum group $SL_q(N)$ for which the generators of the quantum Lie algebras annihilate the quantum trace. In this way we obtain one distinguished calculus on $SL_q(2)$ (which corresponds to Woronowicz' 3D-calculus on $SU_q(2)$) and two distinguished calculi on $SL_q(3)$ such that the higher order calculi give the ordinary differential calculus on $SL(2)$ and $SL(3)$, respectively, in the limit $q\rightarrow 1$. Two new differential calculi on $SL_q(3)$ are introduced and developed in detail.
Using the fact that the algebra M(3,C) of 3 x 3 complex matrices can be taken as a reduced quantum plane, we build a differential calculus Omega(S) on the quantum space S defined by the algebra C^\infty(M) \otimes M(3,C), where M is a space-time manifold. This calculus is covariant under the action and coaction of finite dimensional dual quantum groups. We study the star structures on these quantum groups and the compatible one in M(3,C). This leads to an invariant scalar product on the later space. We analyse the differential algebra Omega(M(3,C)) in terms of quantum group representations, an…
Let A be a cosemisimple Hopf *-algebra with antipode S and let $Γ$ be a left-covariant first order differential *-calculus over A such that $Γ$ is self-dual and invariant under the Hopf algebra automorphism S^2. A quantum Clifford algebra $\Cl(Γ,σ,g)$ is introduced which acts on Woronowicz' external algebra $Γ^\wedge$. A minimal left ideal of $\Cl(Γ,σ,g)$ which is an A-bimodule is called a spinor module. Metrics on spinor modules are investigated. The usual notion of a linear left connection on $Γ$ is extended to quantum Clifford algebras and also to spinor modules. The corresponding Dirac ope…
The spaces of linear differential operators on ${\mathbb{R}}^n$ acting on tensor densities of degree $λ$ and the space of functions on $T^*{\mathbb{R}}^n$ which are polynomial on the fibers are not isomorphic as modules over the Lie algebra $\Vect({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ of vector fields on ${\mathbb{R}}^n$. However, these modules are isomorphic as $sl(n+1,{\mathbb{R}})$-modules where $sl(n+1,{\mathbb{R}})\subset \Vect({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ is the Lie algebra of infinitesimal projective transformations. In addition, such an $sl_{n+1}$-equivariant bijection is unique (up to normalization). This leads to a …
For differential calculi over certain right coideal subalgebras of quantum groups the notion of quantum tangent space is introduced. In generalization of a result by Woronowicz a one to one correspondence between quantum tangent spaces and covariant first order differential calculi is established. This result is used to classify differential calculi over quantum Grassmann manifolds. It turns out that up to special cases in low dimensions there exists exactly one such calculus of classical dimension 2r(N-r). Keywords: Quantum groups, quantum spaces, quantum Grassmann manifolds, differential cal…
We construct a two-parameter covariant differential calculus on the quantum $h$-exterior plane. We also give a deformation of the two-dimensional fermionic phase space.
We realise Heckenberger and Kolb's canonical calculus on quantum projective (n-1)-space as the restriction of a distinguished quotient of the standard bicovariant calculus for Cq[SUn]. We introduce a calculus on the quantum (2n-1)-sphere in the same way. With respect to these choices of calculi, we present quantum projective (N-1)-space as the base space of two different quantum principal bundles, one with total space Cq[SUn], and the other with total space Cq[S^(2n-1)]. We go on to give Cq[CP^n] the structure of a quantum framed manifold. More specifically, we describe the module of one-forms…
We introduce a noncommutative differential calculus on the two-parameter $h$-superplane via a contraction of the (p,q)-superplane. We manifestly show that the differential calculus is covariant under $GL_{h_1,h_2}(1| 1)$ transformations. We also give a two-parameter deformation of the (1+1)-dimensional phase space algebra.
The bicovariant differential calculus on the four-dimensional kappa-Poincare group and the corresponding Lie-algebra like structure are described. The deifferential calculus on the n-dimensional kappa-Minkowski space covariant under the action of the kappa-Poincare group is constructed.
A method of constructing covariant differential calculi on a quantum homogeneous space is devised. The function algebra X of the quantum homogeneous space is assumed to be a left coideal of a coquasitriangular Hopf algebra H and to contain the coefficients of any matrix over H which is the two-sided inverse of one with entries in X. The method is based on partial derivatives. For the quantum sphere of Podles and the quantizations of symmetric spaces due to Noumi, Dijkhuizen and Sugitani the construction produces the subcalculi of the standard bicovariant calculus on the quantum group.
A three-dimensional $q$-Lie algebra of $SU_q(2)$ is realized in terms of first- and second-order differential operators. Starting from the $q$-Lie algebra one has constructed a left-covariant differential calculus on the quantum group. The proposed construction is inverse to the standard Woronowicz approach; the left-invariant vector fields are introduced as initial objects whereas the differential 1-forms are defined in a dual manner.
We show that the pure state evaluation map from $ M_{n}(\mathbb{C}) $ to $ C(\mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^{n-1}) $ (a completely positive map of $ C^{*} $-algebras) extends to a cochain map from the universal calculus on $ M_{n}(\mathbb{C} ) $ to the holomorphic $ \bar{\partial} $ calculus on $ \mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^{n-1} $. The method uses connections on Hilbert $ C^{*} $-bimodules. This implies the existence of various functors, including one from $ M_{n}(\mathbb{C}) $ modules to holomorphic bundles on $ \mathbb{C} \mathbb{P}^{n-1} $.
We construct a noncommutative Cartan calculus on any braided commutative algebra and study its applications in noncommutative geometry. The braided Lie derivative, insertion and de Rham differential are introduced and related via graded braided commutators, also incorporating the braided Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. The resulting braided Cartan calculus generalizes the Cartan calculus on smooth manifolds and the twisted Cartan calculus. While it is a necessity of derivation based Cartan calculi on noncommutative algebras to employ central bimodules our approach allows to consider bimodules over…
The non-commutative differential calculus on quantum groups can be extended by introducing, in analogy with the classical case, inner product operators and Lie derivatives. For the case of $\GL$ we show how this extended calculus induces by coaction a similar extended calculus, covariant under $\GL$, on the quantum plane. In this way, inner product operators and Lie derivatives can be introduced on the plane as well. The situation with other quantum groups and quantum spaces is briefly discussed. Explicit formulas are given for the two dimensional quantum plane.
The natural generalization of the notion of bundle in quantum geometry is that of bimodule. If the base space has quantum group symmetries one is particularly interested in bimodules covariant (equivariant) under these symmetries. Most attention has so far been focused on the case with maximal symmetry -- where the base space is a quantum group and the bimodules are bicovariant. The structure of bicovariant bimodules is well understood through their correspondence with crossed modules. We investigate the ``next best'' case -- where the base space is a quantum homogeneous space and the bimodule…
Let (Γ,d) be the 3D-calculus or the 4D_{\pm}-calculus on the quantum group SU_q(2). We describe all pairs (π, F) of a *-representation πof O(SU_q(2)) and of a symmetric operator F on the representation space satisfying a technical condition concerning its domain such that there exist a homomorphism of first order differential calculi which maps dx into the commutator [iF,π(x)] for x\in O(SU_q(2)). As an application commutator representations of the 2-dimensional left-covariant calculus on Podles' quantum 2-sphere S^2_{qc} with c=0 are given.
In this paper, we construct a covariant differential calculus on quantum plane with two-parametric quantum group as a symmetry group. The two cases $d^2=0$ and $d^3=0$ are completly established. We also construct differential calculi $n=2$ and $n=3$ nilpotent on super quantum space with one and two-parametric symmetry quantum supergroup.
A complete Fock space representation of the covariant differential calculus on quantum space is constructed. The consistency criteria for the ensuing algebraic structure, mapping to the canonical fermions and bosons and the consequences of the new algebra for the statistics of quanta are analyzed and discussed. The concept of statistical transmutation between bosons and fermions is introduced.
We propose a sheaf-theoretic approach to the theory of differential calculi on quantum principal bundles over non-affine bases. After recalling the affine case we define differential calculi on sheaves of comodule algebras as sheaves of covariant bimodules together with a morphism of sheaves -- the differential -- such that the Leibniz rule and surjectivity hold locally. The main class of examples is given by covariant calculi over quantum flag manifolds, which we provide via an explicit Ore extension construction. In a second step we introduce principal covariant calculi by requiring a local …
We discuss the left-covariant 3-dimensional differential calculus on the quantum sphere $SU_q (2)/U(1) $. The $SU_q (2)$-spinor harmonics are treated as coordinates of the quantum sphere. We consider the gauge theory for the quantum group $SU_q (2)\times U(1) $ on the deformed Euclidean space $E_q (4)$. A $q$-generalization of the harmonic-gauge-field formalism is suggested . This formalism is applied for the harmonic (twistor) interpretation of the quantum-group self-duality equation (QGSDE). We consider the zero-curvature representation and the general construction of QGSDE-solutions in term…
A constructive approach to differential calculus on quantum principal bundles is presented. The calculus on the bundle is built in an intrinsic manner, starting from given graded (differential) *-algebras representing horizontal forms on the bundle and differential forms on the base manifold, together with a family of antiderivations acting on horizontal forms, playing the role of covariant derivatives of regular connections. In this conceptual framework, a natural differential calculus on the structure quantum group is described.
Gauge theory on the q-deformed two-dimensional Euclidean plane R^2_q is studied using two different approaches. We first formulate the theory using the natural algebraic structures on R^2_q, such as a covariant differential calculus, a frame of one-forms and invariant integration. We then consider a suitable star product, and introduce a natural way to implement the Seiberg-Witten map. In both approaches, gauge invariance requires a suitable ``measure'' in the action, breaking the E_q(2)-invariance. Some possibilities to avoid this conclusion using additional terms in the action are proposed.
A theory of principal bundles possessing quantum structure groups and classical base manifolds is presented. Structural analysis of such quantum principal bundles is performed. A differential calculus is constructed, combining differential forms on the base manifold with an appropriate differential calculus on the structure quantum group. Relations between the calculus on the group and the calculus on the bundle are investigated. A concept of (pseudo)tensoriality is formulated. The formalism of connections is developed. In particular, operators of horizontal projection, covariant derivative an…
A differential calculus of the first order over multi-braided quantum groups is developed. In analogy with the standard theory, left/right-covariant and bicovariant differential structures are introduced and investigated. Furthermore, antipodally covariant calculi are studied. The concept of the *-structure on a multi-braided quantum group is formulated, and in particular the structure of left-covariant *-covariant calculi is analyzed. A special attention is given to differential calculi covariant with respect to the action of the associated braid system. In particular it is shown that the lef…
The notion of a Kähler structure for a differential calculus was recently introduced by the second author as a framework in which to study the noncommutative geometry of the quantum flag manifolds. It was subsequently shown that any covariant positive definite Kähler structure has a canonically associated triple satisfying, up to the compact resolvent condition, Connes' axioms for a spectral triple. In this paper we begin the development of a robust framework in which to investigate the compact resolvent condition, and moreover, the general spectral behaviour of covariant Kähler structures. Th…
We begin with a deformation of a differential graded algebra by adding time and using a homotopy. It is shown that the standard formulae of Itô calculus are an example, with four caveats: First, it says nothing about probability. Second, it assumes smooth functions. Third, it deforms all orders of forms, not just first order. Fourth, it also deforms the product of the DGA. An isomorphism between the deformed and original DGAs may be interpreted as the transformation rule between the Stratonovich and classical calculus (again no probability). The isomorphism can be used to construct covariant d…
The differential calculus on n-dimensional quantum Minkowski space covariant with respect to left action of Kappa-Poincar'e group is constructed and its uniqueness is shown.
A Dirac operator D on the standard Podles sphere is defined and investigated. It yields a spectral triple such that |D|^{-z} is of trace class for Re z>0. Commutators with the Dirac operator give the distinguished 2-dimensional covariant differential calculus on the standard Podles sphere. The twisted cyclic cocycle associated with the volume form of the differential calculus is expressed by means of the Dirac operator.
The quantum deformation $CP_q(N)$ of complex projective space is discussed. Many of the features present in the case of the quantum sphere can be extended. The differential and integral calculus is studied and $CP_q(N)$ appears as a quantum Kähler manifold. The braiding of several copies of $CP_q(N)$ is introduced and the anharmonic ratios of four collinear points are shown to be invariant under quantum projective transformations. They provide the building blocks of all projective invariants. The Poisson limit is also described.
We construct a quantum frame bundle of the quantum plane $C^2_p$ by requiring that a $GL_{q,p}(2)$-covariant differential calculus on $C^2_p$ be isomorphic as a bimodule to the space of sections of the associated quantum cotangent bundle. We also construct the section space of the associated quantum tangent bundle, and show that it is naturally dual to the differential calculus.
We review some of the geometry of the quantum projective plane with emphasis on the construction of a differential calculus and of the Dirac operator (of a spin^c-structure). We also report on anti-self-dual connections on line bundles, the spectrum of associated (gauged) Laplacian operators, and on classical and quantum characteristic classes.
Using the Hecke $\hat R$-matrix, we give a definition of the lattice $(l,q)$-deformed $n$-component boson and Grassmann fields. Here $l$ is a deformation parameter for the commutation relations of "values" of these fields in two arbitrary lattice sites and $q$ is a deformation parameter for $n$-component $q$-boson or $q$-Grassmann variable. In framework of the Wess-Zumino approach to the noncommutative differential calculus the commutation relations between differentials and derivatives of these fields are determined. The $SL_q(n,C)$-invariant generalization of the Berezin integration for the …
This paper presents an analysis of the set of connections and covariant derivatives on a U(1) quantum Hopf bundle on the standard Podles sphere, whose total space quantum SU(2) is equipped with the 3d left covariant differential calculus by Woronowicz. The introduction of a Hodge duality on the exterior algebras on both total and base space of the bundle allows for the study of Laplacians and of gauged Laplacians.
We describe Laplacian operators on the quantum group SUq (2) equipped with the four dimensional bicovariant differential calculus of Woronowicz as well as on the quantum homogeneous space S2q with the restricted left covariant three dimensional differential calculus. This is done by giving a family of Hodge dualities on both the exterior algebras of SUq (2) and S2q . We also study gauged Laplacian operators acting on sections of line bundles over the quantum sphere.
Using a non canonical braiding over the 3d left covariant calculus we present a family of Hodge operators on the quantum SU(2) and its homogeneous quantum two-sphere.
We present several results on the geometry of the quantum projective plane CP2q. They include: explicit generators for the K-theory and the K-homology; a real calculus with a Hodge star operator; anti-selfdual connections on line bundles with explicit computation of the corresponding 'monopoles' and 'instanton' charges; complete diagonalization of gauged Laplacians on these line bundles; quantum invariants via equivariant K-theory and q-indices.
