We give proofs of the PBW and duality theorems for the quantum Kac-Moody algebras and quantum current algebras, relying on Lie bialgebra duality. We also show that the classical limit of the quantum current algebras associated with an untwisted affine Cartan matrix is the enveloping algebra of a quotient of the corresponding toroidal algebra; this quotient is trivial in all cases except the $A_1^{(1)}$ case.
Graded quasi-commutative skew PBW extensions are isomorphic to graded iterated Ore extensions of endomorphism type, whence graded quasi-commutative skew PBW extensions with coefficients in AS-regular algebras are skew Calabi-Yau and the Nakayama automorphism exists for these extensions. With this in mind, in this paper we give a description of Nakayama automorphism for these non-commutative algebras using the Nakayama automorphism of the ring of the coefficients.
We give a necessary and sufficient PBW basis criterion for Hopf algebras generated by skew-primitive elements and abelian group of group-like elements with action given via characters. This class of pointed Hopf algebras has shown great importance in the classification theory and can be seen as generalized quantum groups. We apply the criterion to classical examples and liftings of Nichols algebras which were determined in arxiv.org:1003.5882.
The aim of this paper is to establish necessary and sufficient algorithmic conditions to guarantee that an algebra is actually a 3-dimensional skew polynomial algebra in the sense of Bell and Smith.
Let $α$ be a polynomial Poisson bivector on a finite-dimensional vector space $V$ over $\mathbb{C}$. Then Kontsevich [K97] gives a formula for a quantization $f\star g$ of the algebra $S(V)^*$. We give a construction of an algebra with the PBW property defined from $α$ by generators and relations. Namely, we define an algebra as the quotient of the free tensor algebra $T(V^*)$ by relations $x_i\otimes x_j-x_j\otimes x_i=R_{ij}(\hbar)$ where $R_{ij}(\hbar)\in T(V^*)\otimes\hbar \mathbb{C}[[\hbar]]$, $R_{ij}=\hbar \Sym(α_{ij})+\mathcal{O}(\hbar^2)$, with one relation for each pair of $i,j=1...\d…
We show explicitly a generalised Lie algebra embedded in the positive and negative parts of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups of type A_n. Such a generalised Lie algebra satisfy axioms closely related to the ones found by S.L. Woronowicz. For the universal enveloping algebra of such generalised Lie algebras we establish several conditions in order to obtain bases of type Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt. Besides a graded algebra is proposed and some relations with the quantum Yang-Baxter equation are studied.
We continue our investigation of the general notion of universal enveloping algebra introduced in [A. Ardizzoni, \emph{A Milnor-Moore Type Theorem for Primitively Generated Braided Bialgebras}, J. Algebra \textbf{327} (2011), no. 1, 337--365]. Namely we study when such an algebra is of PBW type, meaning that a suitable PBW type theorem holds. We discuss the problem of finding a basis for a universal enveloping algebra of PBW type: As an application we recover the PBW basis both of an ordinary universal enveloping algebra and of a restricted enveloping algebra. We prove that a universal envelop…
The positive part $U^+_q$ of $U_q({\widehat {\mathfrak{sl}}}_2)$ has a presentation with two generators $A,B$ that satisfy the cubic $q$-Serre relations. In 1993 I. Damiani obtained a PBW basis for $U^+_q$, consisting of some elements $\lbrace E_{nδ+α_0}\rbrace_{n=0}^\infty$, $\lbrace E_{nδ+α_1}\rbrace_{n=0}^\infty$, $\lbrace E_{nδ}\rbrace_{n=1}^\infty$ that are defined recursively. Our goal is to describe these elements in closed form. We achieve this goal using Catalan words and a $q$-shuffle algebra.
We show that in characteristic zero all irreducible symmetrically braided Hopf algebras are of PBW type. Consequently, we obtain conditions for a braided Hopf algebra to be of PBW type as module over a braided Hopf subalgebra containing the coradical.
Let $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$ be a quantum affine algebra of arbitrary type and let $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ be Hernandez-Leclerc's category. We can associate the quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor $F_D$ to a duality datum $D$ in $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$. We introduce the notion of a strong (complete) duality datum $D$ and prove that, when $D$ is strong, the induced duality functor $F_D$ sends simple modules to simple modules and preserves the invariants $Λ$ and $Λ^\infty$ introduced by the authors. We next define the reflections $\mathcal{S}_k$ and $\mathcal{S}^{-1}_k$ acting on str…
Let $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$ be a quantum affine algebra of untwisted affine ADE type and let $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$ be Hernandez-Leclerc's category. For a duality datum $\mathcal{D}$ in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$, we denote by $\mathcal{F}_{\mathcal{D}}$ the quantum affine Weyl-Schur duality functor. We give sufficient conditions for a duality datum $\mathcal{D}$ to provide the functor $\mathcal{F}_{\mathcal{D}}$ sending simple modules to simple modules. Then we introduce the notion of cuspidal modules in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$, and show that all simple modules in $\mathcal{C}…
Recently Pascal Baseilhac and Stefan Kolb obtained a PBW basis for the $q$-Onsager algebra $\mathcal O_q$. They defined the PBW basis elements recursively, and it is obscure how to express them in closed form. To mitigate the difficulty, we bring in the universal Askey-Wilson algebra $Δ_q$. There is a natural algebra homomorphism $\natural \colon \mathcal O_q \to Δ_q$. We apply $\natural $ to the above PBW basis, and express the images in closed form. Our results make heavy use of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.
We obtain a presentation by generators and relations of any Nichols algebra of diagonal type with finite root system. We prove that the defining ideal is finitely generated. The proof is based in Kharchenko's theory of PBW basis of Lyndon words. We prove that the lexicographic order on Lyndon words is convex for such PBW generators and so the PBW basis is orthogonal with respect to the canonical non-degenerate form associated to the Nichols algebra.
Given a symmetric operad $\mathcal{P}$ and a $\mathcal{P}$-algebra $V$, the associative universal enveloping algebra ${\mathsf{U}_{\mathcal{P}}}$ is an associative algebra whose category of modules is isomorphic to the abelian category of $V$-modules. We study the notion of PBW property for universal enveloping algebras over an operad. In case $\mathcal{P}$ is Koszul a criterion for the PBW property is found. A necessary condition on the Hilbert series for $\mathcal{P}$ is discovered. Moreover, given any symmetric operad $\mathcal{P}$, together with a Gröbner basis $G$, a condition is given in…
We classify PBW-deformations of quadratic-constant type of certain quantizations of exterior algebras. These correspond to the fundamental modules of quantum $\mathfrak{sl}_N$, their duals, and their direct sums. We show that the first two cases do not admit any deformation, while in the third case we obtain an essentially unique algebra with good properties. We compare this algebra with other quantum Clifford algebras appearing in the literature.
We generalize the theory of Koszul complexes and Koszul algebras (in particular, Koszul duality between symmetric and exterior algebras) to symmetric tensor categories. In characteristic $p\ge 5$, this theory exhibits peculiar effects, not observed in the classical theory. In particular, we show that the symmetric and exterior algebras of a non-invertible simple object in the Verlinde category ${\rm Ver}_p$ are almost Koszul (although not Koszul), and show how this gives examples of $(r,s)$-Koszul algebras with any $r,s\ge 2$. We also develop a theory of Lie algebras in symmetric tensor catego…
We examine PBW deformations of finite group extensions of skew polynomial rings, in particular the quantum Drinfeld orbifold algebras defined by the first author. We give a homological interpretation, in terms of Gerstenhaber brackets, of the necessary and sufficient conditions on parameter functions to define a quantum Drinfeld orbifold algebra, thus clarifying the conditions. In case the acting group is trivial, we determine conditions under which such a PBW deformation is a generalized enveloping algebra of a color Lie algebra; our PBW deformations include these algebras as a special case.
We prove that the Yangian associated to an untwisted symmetric affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra is isomorphic to the Drinfeld double of a shuffle algebra. The latter is constructed by the authors in arXiv:1407.7994 as an algebraic formalism of the cohomological Hall algebras. As a consequence, we obtain the Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt (PBW) theorem for this class of affine Yangians. Another independent proof of the PBW theorem is given recently by Guay-Regelskis-Wendlandt.
We develop an elementary method for proving the PBW theorem for associative algebras with an ascending filtration. The idea is roughly the following. At first, we deduce a proof of the PBW property for the {\it ascending} filtration (with the filtered degree equal to the total degree in $x_i$'s) to a suitable PBW-like property for the {\it descending} filtration (with the filtered degree equal to the power of a polynomial parameter $\hbar$, introduced to the problem). This PBW property for the descending filtration guarantees the genuine PBW property for the ascending filtration, for almost al…
Koszul and homogeneous Koszul algebras were defined by Priddy in \cite{Priddy1970}. There exist some relations between these algebras and the skew PBW extensions introduced in \cite{LezamaGallego}. In this paper we give conditions to guarantee that skew PBW extensions over fields are Koszul or homogeneous Koszul. We also show that a constant skew PBW extension of a field is a PBW deformation of its homogeneous version.
We prove the existence of a basis of Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt type for braided Hopf algebras R generated by a braided subspace V of P(R) if the braiding on V fulfils a triangularity condition. We apply our result to pointed Hopf algebras with abelian coradical and to Nichols algebras of low dimensional simple U_q(sl_2) modules.
Recently, Kuniba, Okado and Yamada proved that the transition matrix of PBW-type bases of the positive-half of a quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ coincides with a matrix coefficients of the intertwiner between certain irreducible modules over the corresponding quantized coordinate ring $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$, introduced by Soibelman. In the present article, we give a new proof of their result, by using representation theory of the $q$-boson algebra, and the Drinfeld paring of $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$.
This note has two purposes. First we establish that the map defined in [L, $§40.2.5$ (a)] is an isomorphism for certain admissible sequences. Second we show the map gives rise to a convex basis of Poincaré--Birkhoff--Witt (PBW) type for $\bup$, an affine untwisted quantized enveloping algebra of Drinfel$'$d and Jimbo. The computations in this paper are made possible by extending the usual braid group action by certain outer automorphisms of the algebra.
In this paper, we give a recursive formula for the interesting PBW basis $E_{A}$ of composition subalgebras of Ringel-Hall algebras $\fkH_\vartri(n)$ of cyclic quivers after \cite{DengDuXiao2007generic}, and another construction of canonical bases of $\U_v^+(\wih{\fks\fkl}_n)$ from the monomial bases $m^{(A)}$ follow \cite{DuZhaomultiplication}. As an application, we will determined all the canonical basis of $\U_v^+(\wih{\fks\fkl}_2)$ associated with modules of Lowery length $\leqs3$. Finally, we will discuss the relation of canonical bases of Ringel-Hall algebras and those of affine quantum …
Around 1990 Soibelman constructed certain irreducible modules over the quantized coordinate algebra. A. Kuniba, M. Okado, Y. Yamada recently found that the relation among natural bases of Soibelman's irreducible module can be described using the relation among the PBW-type bases of the positive part of the quantized enveloping algebra, and proved this fact using case-by-case analysis in rank two cases. In this paper we will give a realization of Soibelman's module as an induced module, and give a unified proof of the above result of Kuniba, Okado, Yamada. We also verify Conjecture 1 of Kuniba,…
We study minimal generating subspaces of "weak PBW type" for vertex operator algebras that satisfy a certain condition on the grading, and we develop a procedure for finding such subspaces. As applications, we derive some results on generalized modules and produce a minimal generating space of weak PBW type for the vertex operator algebra $V_L$ associated with any positive-definite even lattice $L$.
We investigate the notions of weak annihilator and nilpotent associated prime defined by Ouyang and Birkenmeier \cite{OuyangBirkenmeier2012} in the setting of noncommutative rings having PBW bases. We extend several results formulated in the literature concerning annihilators and associated primes of commutative rings and skew polynomial rings to a more general setting of algebras not considered before. We exemplify our results with families of algebras appearing in the theory of enveloping algebras, differential operators on noncommutative spaces, noncommutative algebraic geometry, and theore…
The Connes-Kreimer renormalization Hopf algebras are examples of a canonical quantization procedure for pre-Lie algebras. We give a simple construction of this quantization using the universal enveloping algebra for so-called twisted Lie algebras (Lie algebras in the category of symmetric sequences of k-modules). As an application, we obtain a simple proof of the (quantized) PBW theorem for Lie algebras which come from a pre-Lie product (over an arbitrary commutative ring). More generally, we observe that the quantization and the PBW theorem extend to pre-Lie algebras in arbitrary abelian symm…
We determine convex PBW-type Lyndon bases for two-parameter quantum groups $U_{r,s}(F_4)$ with detailed commutation relations. We construct a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $\mathfrak u_{r,s}(F_4)$, as a quotient of $U_{r,s}(F_4)$ by a Hopf ideal generated by certain central elements, which is pointed, and of a Drinfel'd double structure under a certain condition. All of Hopf isomorphisms of $\mathfrak u_{r,s}(F_4)$ are determined which are important for seeking the possible new pointed objects in low order with $(\ell, 210)\ne 1$. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions for $\mathfrak u…
We present new examples of deformations of smash product algebras that arise from Hopf algebra actions on pairs of module algebras. These examples involve module algebras that are Koszul, in which case a PBW theorem we established previously applies. Our construction generalizes several `double' constructions appearing in the literature, including Weyl algebras and some types of Cherednik algebras, and it complements the braided double construction of Bazlov and Berenstein. Many suggestions of further directions are provided at the end of the work.
Mirkovic-Vilonen (MV) polytopes have proven to be a useful tool in understanding and unifying many constructions of crystals for finite-type Kac-Moody algebras. These polytopes arise naturally in many places, including the affine Grassmannian, pre-projective algebras, PBW bases, and KLR algebras. There has recently been progress in extending this theory to the affine Kac-Moody algebras. A definition of MV polytopes in symmetric affine cases has been proposed using pre-projective algebras. In the rank-2 affine cases, a combinatorial definition has also been proposed. Additionally, the theory of…
We generalize Lusztig's geometric construction of the PBW bases of finite quantum groups of type $\mathsf{ADE}$ under the framework of [Varagnolo-Vasserot, J. reine angew. Math. 659 (2011)]. In particular, every PBW basis of such quantum groups is proven to yield a semi-orthogonal collection in the module category of the KLR-algebras. This enables us to prove Lusztig's conjecture on the positivity of the canonical (lower global) bases in terms of the (lower) PBW bases in the $\mathsf{ADE}$ case. In addition, we verify Kashiwara's problem on the finiteness of the global dimensions of the KLR-al…
We develop the homological theory of KLR algebras of symmetric affine type. For each PBW basis, a family of standard modules is constructed which categorifies the PBW basis.
Let $k$ be a field of characteristic zero, $\g$ a $k$-Lie algebra, $e:S\g@>>>U\g$ the symmetrization map. The PBW quantization is the one parameter family of associative products: $$ x\star_t y=\sum_{p=0}^\infty B_p(x,y)t^p\qquad (t\in k) $$ where $B_p$ is the homogeneous component of degree $-p$ of the map $B:S\g\otimes_kS\g@>>>S\g$, $B(x,y)=e^{-1}(exey)$. In this paper we give an explicit formula for $B$. As an application, we prove that for each $p\ge 0$, $B_p$ is a bidifferential operator of order $\le p$.
An integral PBW-basis of type $A_1^{(1)}$ has been constructed by Zhang [Z] and Chen [C] using the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the Kronecker quiver. We associate a geometric order to elements in this basis following an idea of Lusztig [L1] in the case of finite type. This leads to an algebraic realization of a bar-invariant basis of $\uq2$. For any affine symmetric type, we obtain an integral PBW-basis of the generic composition algebra, by using an algebraic construction of the integral basis for a tube in [DDX], an embedding of the module category of the Kronecker quiver into the module categ…
Let $L$ be the basic (level one vacuum) representation of the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak g}$. The $m$-th space $F_m$ of the PBW filtration on $L$ is a linear span of vectors of the form $x_1... x_lv_0$, where $l\le m$, $x_i\in \hat{\mathfrak g}$ and $v_0$ is a highest weight vector of $L$. In this paper we give two descriptions of the associated graded space $L^{\rm gr}$ with respect to the PBW filtration. The "top-down" description deals with a structure of $L^{\rm gr}$ as a representation of the abelianized algebra of generating operators. We prove that the ideal of relatio…
We will introduce an $\mathbb{N}$-filtration on the negative part of a quantum group of type $A_n$, such that the associated graded algebra is a q-commutative polynomial algebra. This filtration is given in terms of the representation theory of quivers, by realizing the quantum group as the Hall algebra of a quiver. We show that the induced associated graded module of any simple finite-dimensional module (of type 1) is isomorphic to a quotient of this polynomial algebra by a monomial ideal, and we provide a monomial basis for this associated graded module. This construction can be viewed as a …
Let ${\mathbf U}^-_q$ be the negative part of the quantum enveloping algebra associated to a simply laced Kac-Moody Lie algebra ${\mathfrak g}$, and $\underline{\mathbf U}^-_q$ the algebra corresponding to the fixed point subalgebra of ${\mathfrak g}$ obtained from a diagram automorphism $σ$ on ${\mathfrak g}$. Let ${\mathbf B}^σ$ be the set of $σ$-fixed elements in the canonical basis of ${\mathbf U}_q^-$, and $\underline{\mathbf B}$ the canonical basis of $\underline{\mathbf U}_q^-$. Lusztig proved that there exists a canonical bijection ${\mathbf B}^σ \simeq \underline{\mathbf B}$ based on …
We propose a notion of a quantum universal enveloping algebra for an arbitrary Lie algebra defined by generators and relations which is based on the quantum Lie operation concept. This enveloping algebra has a PBW basis that admits the Kashiwara crystalization. We describe all skew primitive elements of the quantum universal enveloping algebra for the classical nilpotent algebras of the infinite series defined by the Serre relations and prove that the set of PBW-generators for each of these enveloping algebras coincides with the Lalonde-Ram basis of the ground Lie algebra with a skew commutato…
We give a complete classification of quadratic algebras A, with Hilbert series $H_A=(1-t)^{-3}$, which is the Hilbert series of commutative polynomials on 3 variables. Koszul algebras as well as algebras with quadratic Gröbner basis among them are identified. We also give a complete classification of cubic algebras A with Hilbert series $H_A=(1+t)^{-1}(1-t)^{-3}$. These two classes of algebras contain all Artin-Schelter regular algebras of global dimension 3. As far as the latter are concerned, our results extend well-known results of Artin and Schelter by providing a classification up to an a…
We construct finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras \mathfrak u_{r,s}(G_2) (i.e. restricted 2-parameter quantum groups) from the 2-parameter quantum group U_{r,s}(G_2) defined in \cite{HS}, which turn out to be of Drinfel'd doubles, where a crucial point is to give a detailed combinatorial construction of the convex PBW-type Lyndon basis for type G_2 in 2-parameter quantum version. After furnishing possible commutation relations among quantum root vectors, we show that the restricted quantum groups are ribbon Hopf algebras under certain conditions through determining their left and right int…
For a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, let $U^+_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the positive part of the quantized universal enveloping algebra, and $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the quantized algebra of functions. We show that the transition matrix of the PBW bases of $U^+_q(\mathfrak{g})$ coincides with the intertwiner between the irreducible $A_q(\mathfrak{g})$-modules labeled by two different reduced expressions of the longest element of the Weyl group of $\mathfrak{g}$. This generalizes the earlier result by Sergeev on $A_2$ related to the tetrahedron equation and endows a new represent…
We study quadratic algebras over a field $\textbf{k}$. We show that an $n$-generated PBW algebra $A$ has finite global dimension and polynomial growth \emph{iff} its Hilbert series is $H_A(z)= 1 /(1-z)^n$. Surprising amount can be said when the algebra $A$ has \emph{quantum binomial relations}, that is the defining relations are nondegenerate square-free binomials $xy-c_{xy}zt$ with non-zero coefficients $c_{xy}\in \textbf{k}$. In this case various good algebraic and homological properties are closely related. The main result shows that for an $n$-generated quantum binomial algebra $A$ the fol…
Let G be either of Mat(n), GL(n) or SL(n), let O_q(G) be the quantum function algebra - over Z[q,q^{-1}] - associated to G, and let O_e(G) be the specialisation of O_q(G) at a root of unity, of odd order l. Then O_e(G) is a module over the corresponding classical function algebra O(G) via the quantum Frobenius morphism, which embeds O(G) as a central subbialgebra of O_e(G). In this note we prove a PBW-like theorem for O_q(G) - more or less known in literature, but not in this form (to the best of the author's knowledge) - and we show that it yields explicit bases of O_e(G) over O(G) when G is …
Let h \subset g be an inclusion of Lie algebras with quotient h-module n. There is a natural degree filtration on the h-module U(g)/U(g)h whose associated graded h-module is isomorphic to S(n). We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a splitting of this filtration. In turn such a splitting yields an isomorphism between the h-modules U(g)/U(g)h and S(n). For the diagonal embedding h \subset h \oplus h the condition is automatically satisfied and we recover the classical Poincae-Birkhoff-Witt theorem. The main theorem and its proof are direct translations of results in …
Let $G$ be a connected simply-connected simple complex algebraic group and $\mathfrak{g}$ the corresponding simple Lie algebra. In the first half of the present paper, we study the relation between the positive part $U_q(\mathfrak{n^+})$ of the quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ and the specific irreducible representations of the quantized function algebra $\mathbb{Q}_q[G]$, taking into account the right $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$-algebra structure of $\mathbb{Q}_q[G]$. This work is motivated by Kuniba, Okado and Yamada's result together with Tanisaki and Saito's results. In the latter …
Let $ \mathfrak{g} $ be an untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebra over the field $ K \, $, and let $ U_q(\mathfrak{g}) $ be the associated quantum enveloping algebra; let $ \mathfrak{U}_q(g) $ be the Lusztig's integer form of $ U_q(\mathfrak{g}) \, $, generated by $ q $-divided powers of Chevalley generators over a suitable subring $ R $ of $ K(q) \, $. We prove a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt like theorem for $ \mathfrak{U}_q(\mathfrak{g}) \, $, yielding a basis over $ R $ made of ordered products of $ q $-divided powers of suitable quantum root vectors.
