In this paper we prove that the Gorenstein cyclic quotient singularities of type \frac 1l (1,..., 1,l-(r-1)) with $l\geq r\geq 2$, have a \textit{unique}torus-equivariant projective, crepant, partial resolution, which is ``full'' iff either $l\equiv 0$ mod $% (r-1) $ or $l\equiv 1$ mod $(r-1) $. As it turns out, if one of these two conditions is fulfilled, then the exceptional locus of the full desingularization consists of $\lfloor \frac{l}{r-1} \rfloor$ prime divisors, $\lfloor \frac{l}{r-1}\rfloor - 1$ of which are isomorphic to the total spaces of $\Bbb{P}_{\Bbb{C}}^1$-bundles over $\Bbb{P}_{\Bbb{C}%}^{r-2}$. Moreover, it is shown that intersection numbers are computable explicitly and that the resolution morphism can be viewed as a composite of successive (normalized) blow-ups. Obviously, the monoparametrized singularity-series of the above type contains (as its ``first member'') the well-known Gorenstein singularity defined by the origin of the affine cone which lies over the $r$-tuple Veronese embedding of $\Bbb{P}_{\Bbb{C}}^{r-1}$.
In this paper, we show a condition for two-parameter Gorenstein cyclic quotient singularities to have a crepant resolution by using the remainder polynomial in any dimension.
We show a sufficient condition for Fujiki-Oka resolutions of Gorenstein abelian quotient singularities to be crepant in all dimensions by using Ashikaga's continuous fractions. Moreover, we prove that all three dimensional Gorenstein abelian quotient singularities possess a crepant resolution as a corollary. This alternative proof of existence needs only simple computations comparing with the results ever known.
An immediate generalization of the classical McKay correspondence for Gorenstein quotient spaces $\Bbb{C}^{r}/G$ in dimensions $r\geq 4$ would primarily demand the existence of projective, crepant, full desingularizations. Since this is not always possible, it is natural to ask about special classes of such quotient spaces which would satisfy the above property. In this paper we give explicit necessary and sufficient conditions under which 2-parameter series of Gorenstein cyclic quotient singularities have torus-equivariant resolutions of this specific sort in all dimensions.
A necessary condition for the existence of torus-equivariant crepant resolutions of Gorenstein toric singularities can be derived by making use of a variant of the classical Upper Bound Theorem which is valid for simplicial balls.
We give a criterion for the existence of non-commutative crepant resolutions (NCCR's) for certain toric singularities. In particular we recover Broomhead's result that a 3-dimensional toric Gorenstein singularity has a NCCR. Our result also yields the existence of a NCCR for a 4-dimensional toric Gorenstein singularity which is known to have no toric NCCR.
For which finite subgroups G of SL(r,C), r \geq 4, are there crepant desingularizations of the quotient space C^r/G? A complete answer to this question (also known as "Existence Problem" for such desingularizations) would classify all those groups for which the high-dimensional versions of McKay correspondence are valid. In the paper we consider this question in the case of abelian finite subgroups of SL(r,C) by using techniques from toric and discrete geometry. We give two necessary existence conditions, involving the Hilbert basis elements of the cone supporting the junior simplex, and an Up…
Let G be a finite subgroup of SL(n,C), then the quotient C^n/G has a Gorenstein canonical singularity. Bridgeland-King-Reid proved that the G-Hilbert scheme Hilb^G(C^3) gives a crepant resolution of the quotient C^3/G for any finite subgroup G of SL(3,C). However, in dimension 4, very few crepant resolutions are known. In this paper, we will show several examples of crepant resolutions in dimension 4 and show examples in which Hilb^G(C^4) is blow-up of certain crepant resolutions for C^4/G, or Hilb^G(C^4) has singularity.
For Gorenstein quotient spaces $C^d/G$, a direct generalization of the classical McKay correspondence in dimensions $d\geq 4$ would primarily demand the existence of projective, crepant desingularizations. Since this turned out to be not always possible, Reid asked about special classes of such quotient spaces which would satisfy the above property. We prove that the underlying spaces of all Gorenstein abelian quotient singularities, which are embeddable as complete intersections of hypersurfaces in an affine space, have torus-equivariant projective crepant resolutions in all dimensions. We us…
The purpose of this paper is to construct a crepant resolution of quotient singularities by finite subgroups of SL(3,C) of monomial type, and prove that the Euler number of the resolution is equal to the number of conjugacy classes. This result is a part of conjecture II in previous paper "Crepant resolution of trihedral singularities" (alg-geom 9404008). These singularities are different from trihedral, but main idea of the proof is based on the method of trihedral case.
In this paper, we discuss a generalization of log canonical singularities in the non-$\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein setting. We prove that if a normal complex projective variety has a non-invertible polarized endomorphism, then it has log canonical singularities in our sense. As a corollary, we give an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Broustet and Höring.
Using the theory of dimer models Broomhead proved that every 3-dimensional Gorenstein affine toric variety Spec R admits a toric non-commutative crepant resolution (NCCR). We give an alternative proof of this result by constructing a tilting bundle on a (stacky) crepant resolution of Spec R using standard toric methods. Our proof does not use dimer models.
Let $R$ be a Cohen--Macaulay normal domain with a canonical module $ω_R$. It is proved that if $R$ admits a noncommutative crepant resolution (NCCR), then necessarily it is $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein. Writing $S$ for a Zariski local canonical cover of $R$, then a tight relationship between the existence of noncommutative (crepant) resolutions on $R$ and $S$ is given. A weaker notion of Gorenstein modification is developed, and a similar tight relationship is given. There are three applications: non-Gorenstein quotient singularities by connected reductive groups cannot admit an NCCR, the centre of…
For orbifolds admitting a crepant resolution and satisfying a hard Lefschetz condition, we formulate a conjectural equivalence between the Gromov-Witten theories of the orbifold and the resolution. We prove the conjecture for the equivariant Gromov-Witten theories of the nth symmetric product of the complex plane and the Hilbert scheme of n points in the plane.
Let G be the group A_4 or Z_2xZ_2. We compute the integral of λ_g on the Hurwitz locus H_G\subset M_g of curves admitting a degree 4 cover of P^1 having monodromy group G. We compute the generating functions for these integrals and write them as a trigonometric expression summed over the positive roots of the E_6 and D_4 root systems respectively. As an application, we prove the Crepant Resolution Conjecture for the orbifolds [C^3/A_4] and [C^3/(Z_2xZ_2)].
In this paper, we study splitting (or toric) non-commutative crepant resolutions (= NCCRs) of some toric rings. In particular, we consider Hibi rings, which are toric rings arising from partially ordered sets, and show that Gorenstein Hibi rings with class group $\mathbb{Z}^2$ have a splitting NCCR. In the appendix, we also discuss Gorenstein toric rings with class group $\mathbb{Z}$, in which case the existence of splitting NCCRs is already known. We especially observe the mutations of modules giving splitting NCCRs for the three dimensional case, and show the connectedness of the exchange gr…
We present an algorithm that finds all toric noncommutative crepant resolutions of a given toric 3-dimensional Gorenstein singularity. The algorithm embeds the quivers of these algebras inside a real 3-dimensional torus such that the relations are homotopy relations. One can project these embedded quivers down to a 2-dimensional torus to obtain the corresponding dimer models. We discuss some examples and use the algorithm to show that all toric noncommutative crepant resolutions of a finite quotient of the conifold singularity can be obtained by mutating one basic dimer model. We also discuss …
We introduce the notion of a ``non-commutative crepant'' resolution of a singularity and show that it exists in certain cases. We also give some evidence for an extension of a conjecture by Bondal and Orlov, stating that different crepant resolutions of a Gorenstein singularity have the same derived category.
We prove that a crepant resolution of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone X admits a complete Ricci-flat Kähler metric asymptotic to the cone metric in every Kähler class in H^2_c(Y,R). This result contains as a subcase the existence of ALE Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on crepant resolutions of X=C^n /G, where G is a finite subgroup of SL(n,C). We consider the case in which X is toric. A result of A. Futaki, H. Ono, and G. Wang guarantees the existence of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone metric if X is Gorenstein. We use toric geometry to construct crepant resolutions.
Let $X$ be an algebraic variety with Gorenstein singularities. We define the notion of a wonderful resolution of singularities of $X$ by analogy with the theory of wonderful compactifications of semi-simple linear algebraic groups. We prove that if $X$ has rational singularities and has a wonderful resolution of singularities, then $X$ admits a categorical crepant resolution of singularities. As an immediate corollary, we get that all determinantal varieties defined by the minors of a generic square/symmetric/skew-symmetric matrix admit categorical crepant resolution of singularities. We also …

The three-dimensional McKay correspondence seeks to relate the geometry of crepant resolutions of Gorenstein $3$-fold quotient singularities $\mathbb{A}^3/G$ with the representation theory of the group $G$. The first crepant resolution studied in depth was the $G$-Hilbert scheme $G\text{-Hilb}\,\mathbb{A}^3$, which is also a moduli space of $θ$-stable representations of the McKay quiver associated to $G$. As the stability parameter $θ$ varies, we obtain many other crepant resolutions. In this paper we focus on the case where $G$ is abelian, and compute explicit inequalities for the chamber of …
In this note the geography of minimal surfaces of general type admitting $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-actions is studied. More precisely, it is shown that Gieseker's moduli space $\mathfrak{M}_{K^2,χ}$ contains surfaces admitting a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-action for every admissible pair $(K^2, χ)$ such that $2χ-6\leq K^2\leq 8χ-8$ or $K^2=8χ$. The examples considered allow to prove that the locus of Gorenstein stable surfaces is not closed in the KSBA-compactification $\overline{\mathfrak{M}}_{K^2,χ}$ of Gieseker's moduli space $\mathfrak{M}_{K^2,χ}$ for every admissible pair $(K^2, χ)$ such that $2χ-6\leq K^2\…
We give an expository account of a conjecture, developed by Coates--Corti--Iritani--Tseng and Ruan, which relates the quantum cohomology of a Gorenstein orbifold X to the quantum cohomology of a crepant resolution Y of X. We explore some consequences of this conjecture, showing that it implies versions of both the Cohomological Crepant Resolution Conjecture and of the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan--Graber. We also give a "quantized" version of the conjecture, which determines higher-genus Gromov--Witten invariants of X from those of Y.
The first goal of the present paper is to study the class groups of the edge rings of complete multipartite graphs, denoted by $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$, where $1 \leq r_1 \leq \cdots \leq r_n$. More concretely, we prove that the class group of $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$ is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}^n$ if $n =3$ with $r_1 \geq 2$ or $n \geq 4$, while it turns out that the excluded cases can be deduced into Hibi rings. The second goal is to investigate the special class of divisorial ideals of $\Bbbk[K_{r_1,\ldots,r_n}]$, called conic divisorial ideals. We describe conic divisorial ideals fo…
In this note, we consider crepant resolutions of the quotient varieties of smooth quintic threefolds by Gorenstein group actions. We compute their Hodge numbers via McKay correspondence. In this way, we find some new pairs $(h^{1,1},\;h^{2,1})$ of Hodge numbers of Calabi-Yau threefolds.
Let $X$ and $Y$ be two analytic canonical Gorenstein orbifolds. A resolution of singularities $Y\to X$ is called an Euler resolution if $Y$ and $X$ have the same orbifold Euler number. If $Y$ is only terminal rather than smooth, it is called an Euler terminalisation. It is proved that Euler terminalisations exist for toric varieties in any dimension, for 4-dimensional toroidal varieties, and for singularities $\C^4/G$ where $G$ belongs to certain classes of $\SL(4)$ subgroups. The method of proof is expected to be applicable to a sizeable number of finite $\SL(4)$ subgroups and to lead to a ge…
Let X be a Gorenstein orbifold and let Y be a crepant resolution of X. We state a conjecture relating the genus-zero Gromov--Witten invariants of X to those of Y, which differs in general from the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan--Graber, and prove our conjecture when X = P(1,1,2) and X = P(1,1,1,3). As a consequence, we see that the original form of the Bryan--Graber Conjecture holds for P(1,1,2) but is probably false for P(1,1,1,3). Our methods are based on mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds.
Dimer models are a combinatorial tool to describe certain algebras that appear as noncommutative crepant resolutions of toric Gorenstein singularities. Unfortunately, not every dimer model gives rise to a noncommutative crepant resolution. Several notions of consistency have been introduced to deal with this problem. In this paper we study the major different notions in detail and show that for dimer models on a torus they are all equivalent.

We consider geometrical problems on Gorenstein hypersurface orbifolds of dimension $n \geq 4$ through the theory of Hilbert scheme of group orbits. For a linear special group $G$ acting on $\CZ^n$, we study the $G$-Hilbert scheme, $\hl^G(\CZ^n)$, and crepant resolutions of $\CZ^n/G$ for $G$=the $A$-type abelian group $ A_r(n)$. For $n=4$, we obtain the explicit structure of $\hl^{A_r(4)}(\CZ^4)$. The crepant resolutions of $\CZ^4/A_r(4)$ are constructed through their relation with $\hl^{A_r(4)}(\CZ^4)$, and the connections between these crepant resolutions are found by the "flop" procedure of …
Homological mirror symmetry for crepant resolutions of Gorenstein toric singularities leads to a pair of conjectures on certain hypergeometric systems of PDEs. We explain these conjectures and verify them in some cases.
We investigate the relationship between the Lagrangian Floer superpotentials for a toric orbifold and its toric crepant resolutions. More specifically, we study an open string version of the crepant resolution conjecture (CRC) which states that the Lagrangian Floer superpotential of a Gorenstein toric orbifold $\mathcal{X}$ and that of its toric crepant resolution $Y$ coincide after analytic continuation of quantum parameters and a change of variables. Relating this conjecture with the closed CRC, we find that the change of variable formula which appears in closed CRC can be explained by relat…
It is known that every three dimensional Gorenstein toric singularity has a crepant resolution. Although it is not unique, all crepant resolutions are connected by repeating the operation "flop". On the other hand, this singularity also has a non-commutative crepant resolution (= NCCR) which is constructed from a consistent dimer model. Such an NCCR is given as the endomorphism ring of a certain module which we call splitting maximal modifying module. In this paper, we show that all splitting maximal modifying modules are connected by repeating the operation "mutation" of splitting maximal mod…
The author has proved that a crepant resolution Y of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone X admits a complete Ricci-flat Kähler metric asymptotic to the cone metric in every Kähler class in H^2_c(Y,\R). These manifolds are generalizations of the Ricci-flat ALE Kähler spaces known by the work of P. Kronheimer, D. Joyce and others. This article considers further the problem of constructing examples. We show that every 3-dimensional Gorenstein toric Kähler cone admits a crepant resolution for which the above theorem applies. This gives infinitely many examples of asymptotically conical Ricci-flat manifolds. …
We show that all toric noncommutative crepant resolutions (NCCRs) of affine GIT quotients of "weakly symmetric" unimodular torus representations are derived equivalent. This yields evidence for a non-commutative extension of a well known conjecture by Bondal and Orlov stating that all crepant resolutions of a Gorenstein singularity are derived equivalent. We prove our result by showing that all toric NCCRs of the affine GIT quotient are derived equivalent to a fixed Deligne-Mumford GIT quotient stack associated to a generic character of the torus. This extends a result by Halpern-Leistner and …
By associating a `motivic integral' to every complex projective variety X with at worst canonical, Gorenstein singularities, Kontsevich proved that, when there exists a crepant resolution of singularities Y of X, the Hodge numbers of Y do not depend upon the choice of the resolution. In this article we provide an elementary introduction to the theory of motivic integration, leading to a proof of the result described above. We calculate the motivic integral of several quotient singularities and discuss these calculations in the context of the cohomological McKay correspondence.
Crepant resolutions of three-dimensional toric Gorenstein singularities are derived equivalent to noncommutative algebras arising from consistent dimer models. By choosing a special stability parameter and hence a distinguished crepant resolution $Y$, this derived equivalence generalises the Fourier-Mukai transform relating the $G$-Hilbert scheme and the skew group algebra $\CC[x,y,z]\ast G$ for a finite abelian subgroup of $\SL(3,\CC)$. We show that this equivalence sends the vertex simples to pure sheaves, except for the zero vertex which is mapped to the dualising complex of the compact exc…
We present our recent understanding on resolutions of Gorenstein orbifolds, which involves the finite group representation theory. We shall concern only the quotient singularity of hypersurface type. The abelian group $A_r(n)$ for $A$-type hypersurface quotient singularity of dimension $n$ is introduced. For $n=4$, the structure of Hilbert scheme of group orbits and crepant resolutions of $A_r(4)$-singularity are obtained. The flop procedure of 4-folds is explicitly constructed through the process.
