The Dirichlet form associated with the intrinsic gradient on Poisson space is known to be quasi-regular on the complete metric space $\ddotΓ=$ $\{Z_+$-valued Radon measures on $\IR^d\}$. We show that under mild conditions, the set $\ddotΓ\setminusΓ$ is $\e$-exceptional, where $Γ$ is the space of locally finite configurations in $\IR^d$, that is, measures $γ\in\ddotΓ$ satisfying $\sup_{x\in\IR^d}γ(\{x\})\leq 1$. Thus, the associated diffusion lives on the smaller space $Γ$. This result also holds for Gibbs measures with superstable interactions.
We present a central limit theorem for stationary random fields that are short-range dependent and asymptotically independent. As an application, we present a central limit theorem for an infinite family of interacting Itô-type diffusion processes.
We show that the Schaeffer's tree for an infinite quadrangulation only changes locally when changing the root of the quadrangulation. This follows from one property of distances in the infinite uniform random quadrangulation.
We develop and implement new probabilistic strategy for proving basic results about long time behaviour for interacting diffusion processes on unbounded lattice. The concept of the solution used is rather weak as we construct the process as a solution to suitable infinite dimensional martingale problem. However the techniques allow us to consider cases where the generator of the particle is degenerate elliptic operator. As a model example we present situation, where the operator arises from Heisenberg group. In the last section we mention some further examples that can be handled using our met…
We show the heat kernel type variance decay $t^{-\frac{d}{2}}$, up to a logarithmic correction, for the semigroup of an infinite particle system on $\mathbb{R}^d$, where every particle evolves following a divergence-form operator with diffusivity coefficient that depends on the local configuration of particles. The proof relies on the strategy from $\mathbb{Z}^d$ zero range model, and generalizes the localization estimate to the continuum configuration space introduced by S. Albeverio, Y.G. Kondratiev and M. Röckner.
We consider an interacting particle system on $\Z^d$ with finite state space and interactions of infinite range in a high-noise regime. Assuming that the rate of change is continuous and that a Dobrushin-like condition holds, we show that the process is recurrent in the sense of Harris and construct explicit regeneration times for the process in restriction to finite cylinder sets. We show that the length of a regeneration period admits exponential moments. The proof that regeneration times are almost surely finite relies on a coupled construction of generalized house-of-cards chains.
We characterize the finite variation property for stationary increment mixed moving averages driven by infinitely divisible random measures. Such processes include fractional and moving average processes driven by Levy processes, and also their mixtures. We establish two types of zero-one laws for the finite variation property. We also consider some examples to illustrate our results.
The Dirichlet forms related to various infinite systems of interacting Brownian motions are studied. For a given random point field $ μ$, there exist two natural infinite-volume Dirichlet forms $ (\mathcal{E}^{\mathsf{upr}},\mathcal{D}^{\mathsf{upr}})$ and $(\mathcal{E}^{\mathsf{lwr}},\mathcal{D}^{\mathsf{lwr}})$ on $ L^2(\mathsf{S} ,μ) $ describing interacting Brownian motions each with unlabeled equilibrium state $ μ$. The former is a decreasing limit of a scheme of such finite-volume Dirichlet forms, and the latter is an increasing limit of another scheme of such finite-volume Dirichlet for…
We introduce and study a class of infinite-horizon non-zero-sum non-cooperative stochastic games with infinitely many interacting agents using ideas of statistical mechanics. First we show, in the general case of asymmetric interactions, the existence of a strategy that allows any player to eliminate losses after a finite random time. In the special case of symmetric interactions, we also prove that, as time goes to infinity, the game converges to a Nash equilibrium. Moreover, assuming that all agents adopt the same strategy, using arguments related to those leading to perfect simulation algor…
Let $\mathcal{U}$ be the uniform spanning tree on $\mathbb{Z}^3$, whose probability law is denoted by $\mathbf{P}$. For $\mathbf{P}$-a.s. realization of $\mathcal{U}$, the recurrence of the the simple random walk on $\mathcal{U}$ is proved in [5] and it is also demonstrated in [8] that two independent simple random walks on $\mathcal{U}$ collide infinitely often. In this article, we will give a quantitative estimate on the number of collisions of two independent simple random walks on $\mathcal{U}$, which provides another proof of the infinite collision property of $\mathcal{U}$.
We consider the exploration process associated to the continuous random tree (CRT) built using a Levy process with no negative jumps. This process has been studied by Duquesne, Le Gall and Le Jan. This measure-valued Markov process is a useful tool to study CRT as well as super-Brownian motion with general branching mechanism. In this paper we prove this process is Feller, and we compute its infinitesimal generator on exponential functionals and give the corresponding martingale.
A recurrent graph $G$ has the infinite collision property if two independent random walks on $G$, started at the same point, collide infinitely often a.s. We give a simple criterion in terms of Green functions for a graph to have this property, and use it to prove that a critical Galton-Watson tree with finite variance conditioned to survive, the incipient infinite cluster in $\Z^d$ with $d \ge 19$ and the uniform spanning tree in $\Z^2$ all have the infinite collision property. For power-law combs and spherically symmetric trees, we determine precisely the phase boundary for the infinite coll…
We prove that any stationary random graph satisfying a growth condition and having positive entropy almost surely admits an infinite dimensional space of bounded harmonic functions. Applications to random infinite planar triangulations and Delaunay graphs are given.
Consider a system of interacting particles indexed by the nodes of a graph whose vertices are equipped with marks representing parameters of the model such as the environment or initial data. Each particle takes values in a countable state space and evolves according to a (possibly non-Markovian) continuous-time pure jump process whose jump intensities depend only on its own state (or history) and marks as well as the states (or histories) and marks of particles and edges in its neighborhood in the graph. Under mild conditions on the jump intensities, it is shown that the trajectories of the i…
We consider a new class of non Markovian processes with a countable number of interacting components. At each time unit, each component can take two values, indicating if it has a spike or not at this precise moment. The system evolves as follows. For each component, the probability of having a spike at the next time unit depends on the entire time evolution of the system after the last spike time of the component. This class of systems extends in a non trivial way both the interacting particle systems, which are Markovian, and the stochastic chains with memory of variable length which have fi…
We obtain the hydrodynamic limit of one-dimensional interacting particle systems describing the macroscopic evolution of the density of mass in infinite volume from the microscopic dynamics. The processes are weak pertubations of the symmetric exclusion process by shift operators describing the spread of particles around positions where new sites are created.
We observe a multilinearity preserving property of conditional expectation for infinite dimensional independent increment processes defined on some abstract Banach space $B$. It is similar in nature to the polynomial preserving property analysed greatly for finite dimensional stochastic processes and thus offers an infinite dimensional generalisation. However, while polynomials are defined using the multiplication operator and as such require a Banach algebra structure, the multilinearity preserving property we prove here holds even for processes defined on a Banach space which is not necessar…
Fractional Brownian motion belongs to a class of long memory Gaussian processes that can be represented as linear functionals of an infinite dimensional Markov process. This representation leads naturally to: - An efficient algorithm to approximate the process. - An infinite dimensional ergodic theorem which applies to functionals of the type $integral_0^t phi(V_h(s)) ds $ where $V_h(s)=integral_0^t h(t-u) dB_u$ and $B$ is a standard Brownian motion.
The propagation of chaos property for a system of interacting particles, describing the spatial evolution of a network of interacting filaments is studied. The creation of a network of mycelium is analyzed as representative case, and the generality of the modeling choices are discussed. Convergence of the empirical density for the particle system to its mean field limit is proved, and a result of regularity for the solution is presented.
This paper is based on the talk in "Probability Symposium" at Research Institute of Mathematical Sciences (Kyoto University) on 2013/12/18, and gives an announcement of some parts of the results in [1,8,10,11]. We show two instances of dynamical rigidity of Ginibre interacting Brownian motion in infinite dimensions. This stochastic dynamics is given by the infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equation describing infinite-many Brownian particles in the plane interacting through two-dimensional Coulomb potential. The first dynamical rigidity is that the Ginibre interacting Brownian motio…
We solve infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations (ISDEs) describing an infinite number of Brownian particles interacting via two-dimensional Coulomb potentials. The equilibrium states of the associated unlabeled stochastic dynamics are the Ginibre random point field and Dyson's measures, which appear in random matrix theory. To solve the ISDEs we establish an integration by parts formula for these measures. Because the long-range effect of two-dimensional Coulomb potentials is quite strong, the properties of Brownian particles interacting with two-dimensional Coulomb potentials …
We consider a class of multi-particle reinforced interacting random walks. In this model, there are some (finite or infinite) particles performing random walks on a given (finite or infinite) connected graph, so that each particle has higher probability to visit neighboring vertices or edges which have been seldom visited by the other particles. Specifically we investigate two particles' vertex-reinforced interacting random walks on finite complete graphs. By a dynamical approach we prove that the two particles' occupation measure asymptotically has small joint support almost surely if the rei…
We investigate the construction of diffusions consisting of infinitely numerous Brownian particles moving in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and interacting via logarithmic functions (two-dimensional Coulomb potentials). These potentials are very strong and act over a long range in nature. The associated equilibrium states are no longer Gibbs measures. We present general results for the construction of such diffusions and, as applications thereof, construct two typical interacting Brownian motions with logarithmic interaction potentials, namely the Dyson model in infinite dimensions and Ginibre interacting Bro…
A countable discrete group $G$ is called Choquet-Deny if for every non-degenerate probability measure $μ$ on $G$ it holds that all bounded $μ$-harmonic functions are constant. We show that a finitely generated group $G$ is Choquet-Deny if and only if it is virtually nilpotent. For general countable discrete groups, we show that $G$ is Choquet-Deny if and only if none of its quotients has the infinite conjugacy class property. Moreover, when $G$ is not Choquet-Deny, then this is witnessed by a symmetric, finite entropy, non-degenerate measure.
Rational weak mixing is a measure theoretic version of Krickeberg's strong ratio mixing property for infinite measure preserving transformations. It requires "{\tt density}" ratio convergence for every pair of measurable sets in a dense hereditary ring. Rational weak mixing implies weak rational ergodicity and (spectral) weak mixing. It is enjoyed for example by Markov shifts with Orey's strong ratio limit property. The power, subsequence version of the property is generic.
We present general theorems solving the long-standing problem of the existence and pathwise uniqueness of strong solutions of infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations (ISDEs) called interacting Brownian motions. These ISDEs describe the dynamics of infinite-many Brownian particles moving in $ \mathbb{R}^d $ with free potential $ Φ$ and mutual interaction potential $ Ψ$. We apply the theorems to essentially all interaction potentials of Ruelle's class such as the Lennard-Jones 6-12 potential and Riesz potentials, and to logarithmic potentials appearing in random matrix theory. We …
We give a new sufficient condition of the quasi-Gibbs property. This result is a refinement of one given in a previous paper (\cite{o.rm}), and will be used in a forth coming paper to prove the quasi-Gibbs property of Airy random point fields (RPFs) and other RPFs appearing under soft-edge scaling. The quasi-Gibbs property of RPFs is one of the key ingredients to solve the associated infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equation (ISDE). Because of the divergence of the free potentials and the interactions of the finite particle approximation under soft-edge scaling, the result of the p…
A stochastic dynamics $({\bf X}(t))_{t\ge0}$ of a classical continuous system is a stochastic process which takes values in the space $Γ$ of all locally finite subsets (configurations) in $\Bbb R$ and which has a Gibbs measure $μ$ as an invariant measure. We assume that $μ$ corresponds to a symmetric pair potential $ϕ(x-y)$. An important class of stochastic dynamics of a classical continuous system is formed by diffusions. Till now, only one type of such dynamics--the so-called gradient stochastic dynamics, or interacting Brownian particles--has been investigated. By using the theory of Dirich…
An infinite system of point particles placed in $\mathds{R}^d$ is studied. Its constituents perform random jumps with mutual repulsion described by a translation-invariant jump kernel and interaction potential, respectively. The pure states of the system are locally finite subsets of $\mathds{R}^d$, which can also be interpreted as locally finite Radon measures. The set of all such measures $Γ$ is equipped with the vague topology and the corresponding Borel $σ$-field. For a special class $\mathcal{P}_{\rm exp}$ of (sub-Poissonian) probability measures on $Γ$, we prove the existence of a unique…
