A triangular matrix ring A is defined by a triplet (R,S,M) where R and S are rings and M is an S-R-bimodule. In the main theorem of this paper we show that if T is a tilting S-module, then under certain homological conditions on M as an S-module, one can extend T to a tilting complex over A inducing a derived equivalence between A and another triangular matrix ring specified by (S',R,M'), where the ring S' and the R-S'-bimodule M' depend only on T and M, and S' is derived equivalent to S. Note that no conditions on the ring R are needed.
These conditions are satisfied when S is an Artin algebra of finite global dimension and M is finitely generated as an S-module. In this case, $(S',R,M')=(S,R,DM)$ where D is the duality on the category of finitely generated S-modules. They are also satisfied when S is arbitrary, M has a finite projective resolution as an S-module, and $\Ext^n_S(M,S)=0$ for all $n>0$. In this case, $(S',R,M')=(S,R,\Hom_S(M,S))$.
First, we give a new example of silting-discrete algebras. Second, one explores when the algebra of triangular matrices over a finite dimensional algebra is $τ$-tilting finite. In particular, we classify algebras over which triangular matrix algebras are $τ$-tilting finite. Finally, we investigate when a triangular matrix algebra is silting-discrete.
In this paper we study derived equivalences between triangular matrix algebras using certain classical recollements. We show that special properties of these recollements actually characterize triangular matrix algebras, and describe methods to construct tilting modules and tilting complexes inducing derived equivalences between them.
We relate the notions of BB-tilting and perverse derived equivalence at a vertex. Based on these notions, we define mutations of algebras, leading to derived equivalent ones. We present applications to endomorphism algebras of cluster-tilting objects in 2-Calabi-Yau categories and to algebras of global dimension at most 2.
A finite directed category is a $k$-linear category with finitely many objects and an underlying poset structure, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. This concept unifies structures such as $k$-linerizations of posets and finite EI categories, quotient algebras of finite-dimensional hereditary algebras, triangular matrix algebras, etc. In this paper we study representations of finite directed categories, discuss their stratification properties, and show the existence of generalized APR tilting modules for triangular matrix algebras under some assumptions.
The Nakayama conjecture states that an algebra of infinite dominant dimension should be self-injective. Motivated by understanding this conjecture in the context of derived categories, we study dominant dimensions of algebras under derived equivalences induced by tilting modules, specifically, the infinity of dominant dimensions under tilting procedure. We first give a new method to produce derived equivalences from relatively exact sequences, and then establish relationships and lower bounds of dominant dimensions for derived equivalences induced by tilting modules. Particularly, we show that…
We give a proof, based on the rigidity of tilting complexes, that the class of self-injective finite-dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field is closed under derived equivalence.
We prove that a finite dimensional algebra is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if it does not admit large silting modules. Moreover, we show that for a $τ$-tilting finite algebra $A$ there is a bijection between isomorphism classes of basic support $τ$-tilting (that is, finite dimensional silting) modules and equivalence classes of ring epimorphisms $A\longrightarrow B$ with ${\rm Tor}_1^A(B,B)=0$. It follows that a finite dimensional algebra is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if there are only finitely many equivalence classes of such ring epimorphisms.
We show that for two quivers without oriented cycles related by a BGP reflection, the posets of their tilting modules are related by a simple combinatorial construction, which we call flip-flop. We deduce that the posets of tilting modules of derived equivalent path algebras of quivers without oriented cycles are universally derived equivalent.
The space of homomorphisms from a projective object to a Verma module in category O inherits an induced filtration from the Jantzen filtration on the Verma module. On the other hand there is the Andersen filtration on the space of homomorphisms from a Verma module to a tilting module as described in [Soe07]. The tilting equivalence from [Soe98] induces an isomorphism of these kinds of Hom-spaces. We will show that this equivalence even identifies both filtrations.
The notion of mutation plays crucial roles in representation theory of algebras. Two kinds of mutation are well-known: tilting/silting mutation and quiver-mutation. In this paper, we focus on tilting mutation for symmetric algebras. Introducing mutation of SB quivers, we explicitly give a combinatorial description of tilting mutation of symmetric special biserial algebras. As an application, we generalize Rickard's star theorem. We also introduce flip of Brauer graphs and apply our results to Brauer graph algebras.
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an abelian category and $\mathcal{B}$ be the Happel-Reiten-Smalø tilt of $\mathcal{A}$ with respect to a torsion pair. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a derived equivalence between $\mathcal{B}$ and $\mathcal{A}$, which is compatible with the inclusion of $\mathcal{B}$ into the derived category of $\mathcal{A}$. In particular, any splitting torsion pair induces a derived equivalence. We prove that for the realization functor of any bounded $t$-structure, its denseness implies its fully-faithfulness.
Let $R$ be a ring and $T$ be a good Wakamatsu-tilting module with $S$ the endomorphism ring. We prove that $T$ induces an equivalence between stable categories of repetitive algebras of $R$ and $S$.
Suppose that $\mathcal{A}$ is an abelian category whose derived category $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})$ has $Hom$ sets and arbitrary (small) coproducts, let $T$ be a (not necessarily classical) ($n$-)tilting object of $\mathcal{A}$ and let $\mathcal{H}$ be the heart of the associated t-structure on $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})$. We show that the inclusion functor $\mathcal{H}\hookrightarrow\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})$ extends to a triangulated equivalence of unbounded derived categories $\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{H})\stackrel{\cong}{\longrightarrow}\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})$. The result admits a straightforwa…
Tilting theory in cluster categories of hereditary algebras has been developed in [BMRRT] and [BMR]. These results are generalized to cluster categories of hereditary abelian categories. Furthermore, for any tilting object $T$ in a hereditary abelian category $\mathcal{H}$, we verify that the tilting functor Hom$_\mathcal{H}(T,-)$ induces a triangle equivalence from the cluster category $\mathcal{C(H)}$ to the cluster category $\mathcal{C}(A)$, where $A$ is the quasi-tilted algebra End$_{\mathcal{H}}T.$ Under the condition that one of derived categories of hereditary abelian categories $\mathc…
We propose a new definition of Koszulity for graded algebras where the degree zero part has finite global dimension, but is not necessarily semi-simple. The standard Koszul duality theorems hold in this setting. We give an application to algebras arising from multiplicity free blocks of the BGG category $\mathcal O$.
We consider the problem of comparing t-structures under the derived McKay correspondence and for tilting equivalences. We relate the t-structures using certain natural torsion theories. As an application, we give a criterion for rationality for surfaces with a tilting bundle. In particular we show that every smooth projective surface which admits a full, strong, exceptional collection of line bundles is rational.
Given a set of 'simple-minded' objects in a derived category, Rickard constructed a complex, which over a symmetric algebra provides a derived equivalence sending the 'simple-minded' objects to simple ones. We characterise in terms of t-structures, when this complex is a tilting complex, show that there is an associated natural $t$-structure and we provide an alternative construction of this complex in terms of A-infinity-structures. Our approach is similar to that of Keller--Nicolás.
We show that every two-term tilting complex over an Artin algebra has a tilting module over a certain factor algebra as a homology group. Also, we determine the endomorphism algebra of such a homology group, which is given as a certain factor algebra of the endomorphism algebra of the two-term tilting complex. Thus, every derived equivalence between Artin algebras given by a two-term tilting complex induces a derived equivalence between the corresponding factor algebras.
We show that for two quivers without oriented cycles related by a BGP reflection, the posets of their cluster tilting objects are related by a simple combinatorial construction, which we call a flip-flop. We deduce that the posets of cluster tilting objects of derived equivalent path algebras of quivers without oriented cycles are universally derived equivalent. In particular, all Cambrian lattices corresponding to the various orientations of the same Dynkin diagram are universally derived equivalent.
We construct derived equivalences between group graded self-injective algebras, starting from equivalences between their 1-components, obtained via a construction of J. Rickard and S. Al-Nofayee.
We study (support) $τ$-tilting modules over the trivial extensions of finite dimensional algebras. More precisely, we construct two classes of (support)$τ$-tilting modules in terms of the adjoint functors which extend and generalize the results on (support) $τ$-tilting modules over triangular matrix rings given by Gao-Huang.
We study which algebras have tilting modules that are both generated and cogenerated by projective-injective modules. Crawley-Boevey and Sauter have shown that Auslander algebras have such tilting modules; and for algebras of global dimension $2$, Auslander algebras are classified by the existence of such tilting modules. In this paper, we show that the existence of such a tilting module is equivalent to the algebra having dominant dimension at least $2$, independent of its global dimension. In general such a tilting module is not necessarily cotilting. Here, we show that the algebras which ha…
Non-singular weighted surface algebras satisfy the necessary condition found in [6] for existence of cluster tilting modules. We show that any such algebra whose Gabriel quiver is bipartite, has a module satisfying the necessary ext vanishing condition. We show that it is 3-cluster tilting precisely for the non-singular triangular or spherical algebras but not for any other weighted surface algebra with bipartite Gabriel quiver.
We prove that any derived equivalence between derived-discrete algebras of finite global dimension is standard, that is, isomorphic to the derived tensor functor by a two-sided tilting complex.
We will be defining a type of perverse equivalence that always corresponds to a derived equivalence with two-term tilting complexes. We are going to show that the tilting considered by Okuyama and Yoshii for the proof of Broué's conjecture for $SL(2,q)$ in defining characteristic is a composition of such perverse equivalences.
We prove that any derived equivalence between triangular algebras is standard, that is, it is isomorphic to the derived tensor functor given by a two-sided tilting complex.
A new homological symmetry condition is exhibited that extends and unifies several recently defined and widely used concepts. Applications include general constructions of tilting modules and derived equivalences, and characterisations of Gorenstein properties of endomorphism rings.
For a certain Wakamatsu-tilting bimodule over two artin algebras $A$ and $B$, Wakamatsu constructed an explicit equivalence between the stable module categories over the trivial extension algebra of $A$ and that of $B$. We prove that Wakamatsu's functor is a triangle functor, thus a triangle equivalence.
We consider tilting mutations of a weakly symmetric algebra at a subset of simple modules, as recently introduced by T. Aihara. These mutations are defined as the endomorphism rings of certain tilting complexes of length 1. Starting from a weakly symmetric algebra A, presented by a quiver with relations, we give a detailed description of the quiver and relations of the algebra obtained by mutating at a single loopless vertex of the quiver of A. In this form the mutation procedure appears similar to, although significantly more complicated than, the mutation procedure of Derksen, Weyman and Zel…
We study 2-term tilting complexes of Brauer tree algebras in terms of simplicial complexes. We show the symmetry and convexity of the simplicial complexes as lattice polytopes. Via a geometric interpretation of derived equivalences, we show that the $f$-vector of simplicial complexes of Brauer tree algebras only depends the number of the edges of the Brauer trees and hence it is a derived invariant. In particular, this result implies that the number of 2-term tilting complexes, which is in bijection with support $τ$-tilting modules, is a derived invariant. Moreover, we apply our result to the …
We study infinite dimensional tilting modules over a concealed canonical algebra of domestic or tubular type. In the domestic case, such tilting modules are constructed by using the technique of universal localization, and they can be interpreted in terms of Gabriel localizations of the corresponding category of quasi-coherent sheaves over a noncommutative curve of genus zero. In the tubular case, we have to distinguish between tilting modules of rational and irrational slope. For rational slope the situation is analogous to the domestic case. In contrast, for any irrational slope, there is ju…
In this paper, we study the relationship between equivalences of noncommutative projective schemes and cluster tilting modules. In particular, we prove the following result. Let $A$ be an AS-Gorenstein algebra of dimension $d\geq 2$ and ${\mathsf{tails}\,} A$ the noncommutative projective scheme associated to $A$. If $\operatorname{gldim}({\mathsf{tails}\,} A)< \infty$ and $A$ has a $(d-1)$-cluster tilting module $X$ satisfying that its graded endomorphism algebra is $\mathbb N$-graded, then the graded endomorphism algebra $B$ of a basic $(d-1)$-cluster tilting submodule of $X$ is a two-sided …
We introduce the notion of exact tilting objects, which are partial tilting objects $T$ inducing an equivalence between the abelian category generated by $T$ and the category of modules over the endomorphism algebra of $T$. Given a chain of sufficiently negative rational curves on a rational surface, we construct an exceptional sequence whose universal extension is an exact tilting object. For a chain of (-2)-curves, we obtain an equivalence with modules over a well known algebra.
To every minimal model of a complete local isolated cDV singularity Donovan--Wemyss associate a finite dimensional symmetric algebra known as the contraction algebra. We construct the first known standard derived equivalences between these algebras and then use the structure of an associated hyperplane arrangement to control the compositions, obtaining a faithful group action on the bounded derived category. Further, we determine precisely those standard equivalences which are induced by two-term tilting complexes and show that any standard equivalence between contraction algebras (up to algeb…
We define tilting subcategories in arbitrary exact categories to archieve the following. Firstly: Unify existing definitions of tilting subcategories to arbitrary exact categories. Discuss standard results for tilting subcategories: Auslander correspondence, Bazzoni description of the perpendicular category. Secondly: We treat the question of induced derived equivalences separately - given a tilting subcategory T, we ask if a functor on the perpendicular category induces a derived equivalence to a (certain) functor category over T. If this is the case, we call the tilting subcategory ideq tilt…
The aim of this paper is mainly to build a new representation-theoretic realization of finite root systems through the so-called Frobenius-type triangular matrix algebras by the method of reflection functors over any field. Finally, we give an analog of APR-tilting module for this class of algebras. The major conclusions contains the known results as special cases, e.g. that for path algebras over an algebraically closed field and for path algebras with relations from symmetrizable cartan matrices. Meanwhile, it means the corresponding results for some other important classes of algebras, that…
Motivated by understanding the Broué's abelian defect group conjecture from algebraic point of view, we consider the question of how to lift a stable equivalence of Morita type between arbitrary finite dimensional algebras to a derived equivalence. In this paper, we present a machinery to solve this question for a class of stable equivalences of Morita type. In particular, we show that every stable equivalence of Morita type between Frobenius-finite algebras over an algebraically closed field can be lifted to a derived equivalence. %Thus Frobenius-finite algebras share many common %invariants …
We apply tilting theory over preprojective algebras $Lambda$ to a study of moduli space of $Lambda$-modules. We define the categories of semistable modules and give an equivalence, so-called reflection functors, between them by using tilting modules over $Lambda$. Moreover we prove that the equivalence induces an isomorphism of algebraic varieties between moduli spaces. In particular, we study in the case when the moduli spaces related to the Kleinian singularity. We generalize a result of Crawley-Boevey which is known another proof of the McKay correspondence of Ito-Nakamura type.
Let $Λ,Γ$ be rings and $R=\left(\begin{array}{cc}Λ& 0 \\ M & Γ\end{array}\right)$ the triangular matrix ring with $M$ a $(Γ,Λ)$-bimodule. Let $X$ be a right $Λ$-module and $Y$ a right $Γ$-module. We prove that $(X, 0)$$\oplus$$(Y\otimes_ΓM, Y)$ is a silting right $R$-module if and only if both $X_Λ$ and $Y_Γ$ are silting modules and $Y\otimes_ΓM$ is generated by $X$. Furthermore, we prove that if $Λ$ and $Γ$ are finite dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field and $X_Λ$ and $Y_Γ$ are finitely generated, then $(X, 0)$$\oplus$$(Y\otimes_ΓM, Y)$ is a support $τ$-tilting $R$-module i…
Derived equivalences for Artin algebras (and almost $ν$-stable derived equivalences for finite-dimensional algebras) are constructed from Milnor squares of algebras. Particularly, three operations of gluing vertices, unifying arrows and identifying socle elements on derived equivalent algebras are presented to produce new derived equivalences of the resulting algebras from the given ones. As a byproduct, we construct a series of derived equivalences, showing that derived equivalences may change Frobenius type of algebras in general, though both tilting procedure and almost $ν$-stable derived e…
Let $\mathbf{G}$ be a connected reductive group over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{F}$ of good characteristic, satisfying some mild conditions. In this paper we relate tilting objects in the heart of Bezrukavnikov's exotic t-structure on the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on the Springer resolution of $\mathbf{G}$, and Iwahori-constructible $\mathbb{F}$-parity sheaves on the affine Grassmannian of the Langlands dual group. As applications we deduce in particular the missing piece for the proof of the Mirkovic-Vilonen conjecture in full generality (i.e. for good chara…
We discuss tilting modules of affine quasi-hereditary algebras. We present an existence theorem of indecomposable tilting modules when the algebra has a large center and use it to deduce a criterion for an exact functor between two affine highest weight categories to give an equivalence. As an application, we prove that the Arakawa-Suzuki functor [Arakawa-Suzuki, J. of Alg. 209 (1998)] gives a fully faithful embedding of a block of the deformed BGG category of $\mathfrak{gl}_{m}$ into the module category of a suitable completion of degenerate affine Hecke algebra of $GL_{n}$.
Happel constructed a fully faithful functor $\mathcal{H} :\mathsf{D}^{\mathrm{b}}(\text{mod} \ Λ) \to \underline{\text{mod}}^{\Bbb{Z}} \ \text{T}(Λ)$ for a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$. He also showed that this functor $\mathcal{H}$ gives an equivalence precisely when $\text{gldim } Λ< \infty$. Thus if $\mathcal{H}$ gives an equivalence, then it provides a canonical tilting object $\mathcal{H} (Λ)$ of $\underline{\text{mod}}^{\mathbb{Z}} \ \text{T}(Λ)$. In this paper we generalize Happel's functor $\mathcal{H}$ in the case where $\text{T}(Λ)$ is replaced with a finitely graded IG algebra $A$…
In this paper we introduce a new approach for organizing algebras of global dimension at most 2. We introduce the notion of cluster equivalence for these algebras, based on whether their generalized cluster categories are equivalent. We are particularly interested in the question how much information about an algebra is preserved in its generalized cluster category, or, in other words, how closely two algebras are related if they have equivalent generalized cluster categories. Our approach makes use of the cluster-tilting objects in the generalized cluster categories: We first observe that clu…
We show that the difference of the extension dimensions of two derived equivalent algebras is bounded above by the minimal length of a tilting complex associated with a derived equivalence, and that the extension dimension is an invariant under the stable equivalence. In addition, we provide two sufficient conditions such that the extension dimension is an invariant under particular derived equivalences.
We classify, up to derived (equivalently, tilting-cotilting) equivalence all nondegenerate gentle two-cycle algebras. We also give a partial classification and formulate a conjecture in the degenerate case.
We classify 1-tilting classes over an arbitrary commutative ring. As a consequence, we classify all resolving subcategories of finitely presented modules of projective dimension at most 1. Both these collections are in 1-1 correspondence with faithful Gabriel topologies of finite type, or equivalently, with Thomason subsets of the spectrum avoiding a set of primes associated in a specific way to the ring. We also provide a generalization of the classical Fuchs and Salce tilting modules, and classify the equivalence classes of all 1-tilting modules. Finally we characterize the cases when tiltin…
We study necessary and sufficient conditions for a dg bimodule to yield triangle equivalences between (quotients of) the corresponding derived categories. This is related to recent work by Bazzoni-Mantese-Tonolo, Yang, Angeleri Hügel-Koenig-Liu, Chen-Xi, Bazzoni-Pavarin,... on large tilting modules, homological epimorphisms and recollements.
We establish a character formula for indecomposable tilting modules for connected reductive groups in characteristic p in terms of p-Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, for p>h the Coxeter number. Using results of Andersen, one may deduce a character formula for simple modules if p>2h-3. Our results are a consequence of an extension to modular coefficients of a monoidal Koszul duality equivalence established by Bezrukavnikov and Yun.
