The notions of almost periodicity in the sense of Weyl and Besicovitch of the order p are extended to holomorphic functions on a strip. We prove that the spaces of holomorphic almost periodic functions in the sense of Weyl for various orders p are the same. These spaces are considerably wider than the space of holomorphic uniformly almost periodic functions and considerably narrower than the spaces of holomorphic almost periodic functions in the sense of Besicovitch. Besides we construct examples showing that the spaces of holomorphic almost periodic functions in the sense of Besicovitch for various orders p are all different.
We prove the following result. Let f be a continuous function in the closed infinite strip in complex plane. Suppose the restriction of f to every circle inscribed in the strip extends holomorphically inside the circle. Then f is holomorphic in the open strip.
We prove that to each almost periodic (in the sense of distributions) divisor in a tube one can assign a first Chern class of a special line bundle over Bohr's compact set generated by the divisor such that the trivial cohomology class represents divisors of all almost periodic holomorphic functions on a tube. This description yields various geometric conditions for an almost periodic divisor to be the divisor of a holomorphic almost periodic function. We also give a complete description for the divisors of homogeneous coordinates for holomorphic almost periodic curves; in particular, we obtai…
We give an alternative representation of the closure of the Bochner transform of a holomorphic almost periodic mapping in a tube domain. For such mappings we introduce a new notion of amoeba and we show that, for mappings which are regular in the sense of Ronkin, this new notion agrees with Favorov's one. We prove that the amoeba complement of a regular holomorphic almost periodic mapping, defined on Cn and taking its values in Cm+1, is a Henriques m-convex subset of Rn. Finally, we compare some different notions of regularity.
Let $f$ be a holomorphic function on the strip $\{z\in C: -α<Im z<α\}, α> 0$, belonging to the class $H(α,-α;ε)$ defined below. It is shown that there exist holomorphic functions $w_1$ on $\{z\in C: 0<Im z <2 α\}$ and $w_2$ on $\{z\in C: -2 α<Im z<2 α\}$ such that $w_1$ and $w_2$ have boundary values of modulus one on the real axis and satisfy the relation $w_1(z)=f(z-αi)w_2(z-2 αi)$ and $w_2(z+2 αi)= \bar{f}(z+αi)w_1(z)$ for $0<Im z<2$, where $\bar{f}(z):=\bar{f(\bar{z})}$. This leads to a "polar decomposition" $f(z)=u_f(z+αi)g_f(z)$ of the function $f(z)$, where $u_f(z+αi)$ and $g_f(z)$ are …
The paper studies semi-almost periodic holomorphic functions on a polydisk which have, in a sense, the weakest possible discontinuities on the boundary torus. The basic result used in the proofs is an extension of the classical Bohr approximation theorem for almost periodic holomorphic functions on a strip to the case of Banach-valued almost periodic holomorphic functions.
Identifying holomorphic functions by moment conditions is a classical problem. This paper explores ideas introduced by Tumanov in a well known paper on the strip problem, and building on the author's previous work, to show that weighted Bergman projections can be computed via asymptotic formulas involving Szegő projections a fixed 1-dimensional family of curves. Various new operators are introduced; in addition, similar formulas are derived via dimension reduction, using the author's CR Hartogs theorem.
H.Bohr in 1930 proved that if a holomorphic bounded function on a strip is almost periodic on a straight line in the strip, then it is almost periodic on the whole strip. We find some conditions when the result is valid for holomorphic mappings of tube domains to various complex manifolds.
We study functions f(z) holomorphic in the upper half plane and having no zeros when the imaginary part of z is between 0 and 1, and we obtain a lower bound for the modulus of f(z) in this strip. In our analysis we deal with scalar functions f(z) as well as with operator valued holomorphic functions I+A(z) assuming that A(z) is a trace class operator in the upper half plane and I+A(z) is invertible in the same strip and is unitary on the real line.
A notion of almost periodic current is introduced, as well as a notion of almost periodic holomorphic chain proceeded from that definition. Such a chain can be defined either as a special case of almost periodic currents or as a holomorphic chain whose trace measure is an almost periodic distribution. It is shown that in general situation almost periodicity of the trace of a current does not imply that for the current itself, even if it is closed and positive. The zero set (regarded as a holomorphic chain) of a holomorphic mapping can be represented as a Monge-Ampere type current, and one coul…
We study the Banach algebras of bounded holomorphic functions on the unit disk whose boundary values, having, in a sense, the weakest possible discontinuities, belong to the algebra of semi-almost periodic functions on the unit circle. The latter algebra contains as a special case an algebra introduced by Sarason in connection with some problems in the theory of Toeplitz operators.
We extend the notion of amoeba to holomorphic almost periodic functions in tube domains. In this setting, the order of a function in a connected component of the complement to its amoeba is just the mean motion of this function. We also find a correlation between the orders in different components.
In this paper, we study the properties of a certain class of Borel measures on $\mathbb{R}^n$ that arise in the integral representation of Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions. In particular, we find that restrictions to certain hyperplanes are of a surprisingly simple form and show that the supports of such measures can not lie within particular geometric regions, e.g. strips with positive slope. Corresponding results are derived for measures on the unit poly-torus with vanishing mixed Fourier coefficients. These measures are closely related to functions mapping the unit polydisk analytically into t…
We prove that if a positive closed current is bounded by another one with bounded, continuous or Hoelder continuous super-potentials, then it inherits the same property. There are two different methods to define wedge-products of positive closed currents of arbitrary bi-degree on compact Kaehler manifolds using super-potentials and densities. When the first method applies, we show that the second method also applies and gives the same result. As an application, we obtain a sharp upper bound for the number of isolated periodic points of holomorphic maps on compact Kaehler manifolds whose action…
This is a brief survey of up-to-date results on holomorphic almost periodic functions and mappings in one and several complex variables, mainly due to the Kharkov mathematical school.
Whenever all differences between zeros of two holomorphic almost periodic functions in a strip form a discrete set, then both functions are infinite products of periodic functions with commensurable periods. In particular, the result is valid for some classes of Dirichlet series.
Let $M$ be a three-dimensional contact manifold and $ψ:D\setminus\{0\}\to M\times{\Bbb R}$ a finite-energy pseudoholomorphic map from a punctured disc in ${\Bbb C}$, that is asymptotic to a periodic orbit of the Reeb vector field. This article examines conditions under which smooth coordinates may be defined in a tubular neighbourhood of the orbit such that $ψ$ resembles a holomorphic curve, invoking comparison with the theory of topological linking of plane complex algebroid curves near a singularity. Examples of this behaviour which are studied in some detail include pseudoholomorphic maps i…
We establish basic results of complex function theory within certain algebras of holomorphic functions on coverings of Stein manifolds (such as algebras of Bohr's holomorphic almost periodic functions on tube domains or algebras of all fibrewise bounded holomorphic functions arising, e.g., in the corona problem for $H^\infty$). In particular, in this context we obtain results on holomorphic extension from complex submanifolds, properties of divisors, corona type theorems, holomorphic analogues of the Peter-Weyl approximation theorem, Hartogs type theorems, characterizations of uniqueness sets,…
We develop complex function theory within certain algebras of holomorphic functions on coverings of Stein manifolds. This, in particular, includes the results on holomorphic extension from complex submanifolds, corona type theorems, properties of divisors, holomorphic analogs of the Peter-Weyl approximation theorem, Hartogs type theorems, characterization of uniqueness sets. The model examples of these algebras are: (1) Bohr's algebra of holomorphic almost periodic functions on tube domains; (2) algebra of all fibrewise bounded holomorphic functions (e.g., arising in the corona problem for $H^…
Let $Δ^{2}$ be a ball in the complex vector space $\mathbb{C}^{2}$ centered at the origin, let $f:Δ^{2}\to \mathbb{C}^{2}$ be a holomorphic mapping$,$ with $f(0)=0$, and let $M$ be a positive integer. If the origin 0 is an isolated fixed point of the $M$ th iteration $f^{M}$ of $f,$ then one can define the number $\mathcal{O}_{M}(f,0)$ of periodic orbits of $f$ with period $M$ hidden at the fixed point 0, which has the meaning: any holomorphic mapping $g:Δ^{2}\to \mathbb{C}^{2}$ sufficiently close to $f$ in a neighborhood of the origin has exactly $% \mathcal{O}_{M}(f,0)$ distinct periodic orb…
Let $Δ^{n}$ be the ball $|x|<1$ in the complex vector space $\mathbb{C}% ^{n}$, let $f:Δ^{n}\to \mathbb{C}^{n}$ be a holomorphic mapping and let $M$ be a positive integer. Assume that the origin $% 0=(0,..., 0)$ is an isolated fixed point of both $f$ and the $M$-th iteration $f^{M}$ of $f$. Then for each factor $m$ of $M,$ the origin is again an isolated fixed point of $f^{m}$ and the fixed point index $μ_{f^{m}}(0)$ of $f^{m}$ at the origin is well defined, and so is the (local) Dold's index (see [\ref{Do}]) at the origin:% \begin{equation*} P_{M}(f,0)=\sum_{τ\subset P(M)}(-1)^{#τ}μ_{f^{M:τ}}…
Uniqueness theorems are considered for various types of almost periodic objects: functions, measures, distributions, multisets, holomorphic and meromorphic functions.
We establish an approximation of the activity current $T_c$ in the parameter space of a holomorphic family $f$ of rational functions having a marked critical point $c$ by parameters for which $c$ is periodic under $f$, i.e., is a superattracting periodic point. This partly generalizes a Dujardin--Favre theorem for rational functions having preperiodic points, and refines a Bassanelli--Berteloot theorem on a similar approximation of the bifurcation current $T_f$ of the holomorphic family $f$. The proof is based on a dynamical counterpart of this approximation.
Tête-à-tête graphs were introduced by N. A'Campo in 2010 with the goal of modeling the monodromy of isolated plane curves. Mixed tête-à-tête graphs provide a generalization which define mixed tête-à-tête twists, which are pseudo-periodic automorphisms on surfaces. We characterize the mixed tête-à-tête twists as those pseudo-periodic automorphisms that have a power which is a product of right-handed Dehn twists around disjoint simple closed curves, including all boundary components. It follows that the class of tête-à-tête twists coincides with that of monodromies associated with reduced functi…
We study meromorphic functions in a strip almost periodic with respect to the spherical metric. Then we get a complete description of zeros and poles for this class of functions, find a condition for a meromorphic almost periodic function to be a quotient of two holomorphic almost periodic function, find a necessary and suficient condition for sum and product of almost periodic meromorphic functions to be almost periodic.
