Let $V=\oC^n$ and let $T:=T(V)\otimes T(V^*)$ be the mixed tensor algebra over $V$. We characterize those subsets $A$ of $T$ for which there is a subgroup $G$ of the unitary group $\UU(n)$ such that $A=T^G$. They are precisely the nondegenerate contraction-closed graded $*$-subalgebras of $T$. While the proof makes use of the First Fundamental Theorem for $\GL(n,\oC)$ (in the sense of Weyl), the characterization has as direct consequences First Fundamental Theorems for several subgroups of $\GL(n,\oC)$. Moreover, a Galois connection between linear algebraic $*$-subgroups of $\GL(n,\oC)$ and nondegenerate contraction-closed $*$-subalgebras of $T$ is derived.
By means of a certain module V and its tensor powers in a finite tensor category, we study a question of whether the depth of a Hopf subalgebra R of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra H is finite. The module V is the counit representation induced from R to H, which is then a generalized permutation module, as well as a module coalgebra. We show that if in the subalgebra pair either Hopf algebra has finite representation type, or V is either semisimple with R* pointed, projective, or its tensor powers satisfy a Burnside ring formula over a finite set of Hopf subalgebras including R, then the dep…
We studied the positive representations $P_λ$ of split real quantum groups $U_{q\tilde{q}}(g_R)$ restricted to the Borel subalgebra $U_{q\tilde{q}}(b_R)$. We proved that the restriction is independent of the parameter $λ$. Furthermore, we prove that it can be constructed from the GNS-representation of the multiplier Hopf algebra $U_{q\tilde{q}}^{C^*}(b_R)$ constructed earlier, which enables us to decompose their tensor product using the theory of the "multiplicative unitary". This will be an essential ingredient in the construction of quantum higher Teichmüller theory from the perspective of r…
Study of the quotient module of a finite-dimensional Hopf subalgebra pair in order to compute its depth yields a relative Maschke Theorem, in which semisimple extension is characterized as being separable, and is therefore an ordinary Frobenius extension. We study the core Hopf ideal of a Hopf subalgebra, noting that the length of the annihilator chain of tensor powers of the quotient module is linearly related to the depth, if the Hopf algebra is semisimple. A tensor categorical definition of depth is introduced, and a summary from this new point of view of previous results are included. It i…
The Lie algebra of vector fields on $R^m$ acts naturally on the spaces of differential operators between tensor field modules. Its projective subalgebra is isomorphic to $sl_{m+1}$, and its affine subalgebra is a maximal parabolic subalgebra of the projective subalgebra with Levi factor $gl_m$. We prove two results. First, we realize all injective objects of the parabolic category O$^{gl_m}(sl_{m+1})$ of $gl_m$-finite $sl_{m+1}$-modules as submodules of differential operator modules. Second, we study projective quantizations of differential operator modules, i.e., $sl_{m+1}$-invariant splittin…
In our previous work, we studied the positive representations of split real quantum groups $\mathcal{U}_{q\tilde{q}}(\mathfrak{g}_\mathbb{R})$ restricted to its Borel part, and showed that they are closed under taking tensor products. However, the tensor product decomposition was only constructed abstractly using the GNS-representation of a $C^*$-algebraic version of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups. In this paper, using the recently discovered cluster realization of quantum groups, we write down the decomposition explicitly by realizing it as a sequence of cluster mutations in the correspond…
We consider tensor products of finite-dimensional representations of a coideal subalgebra in $U_{q}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$. We present an explicit expression for the dual of the canonical bases through a diagrammatic presentation. We show that the decomposition of tensor products of dual canonical bases and the action of the coideal subalgebra have integral and positive properties. As an application, we consider the eigensystem of the generator of the coideal subalgebra on the dual canonical bases. We provide all the eigenvalues and obtain an explicit expression of the eigenfunction for the largest…
We establish the submaximal symmetry dimension for Riemannian and Lorentzian conformal structures. The proof is based on enumerating all subalgebras of orthogonal Lie algebras of sufficiently large dimension and verifying if they stabilize a non-zero Weyl tensor up to scale. Our main technical tools include Dynkin's classification of maximal subalgebras in complex simple Lie algebras, a theorem of Mostow, and Kostant's Bott-Borel-Weil theorem.
Let A be a basic connected finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field k and with ordinary quiver Q without oriented cycle. To any presentation of A by quiver and admissible relations, Martinez-Villa and de La Pena have associated the fundamental group of the presentation. Assem and de La Pena have constructed an injective mapping from the additive characters of this fundamental group (with values in the ground field) to the first Hochschild cohomology group HH^1(A). We study the image of these mappings associated to the different presentations of A in terms of diagonalizable…
We study how tensor products of representations decompose when restricted from a compact Lie algebra to one of its subalgebras. In particular, we are interested in tensor squares which are tensor products of a representation with itself. We show in a classification-free manner that the sum of multiplicities and the sum of squares of multiplicities in the corresponding decomposition of a tensor square into irreducible representations has to strictly grow when restricted from a compact semisimple Lie algebra to a proper subalgebra. For this purpose, relevant details on tensor products of represe…
Let $V\subseteq A$ be a conformal inclusion of vertex operator algebras and let $\mathcal{C}$ be a category of grading-restricted generalized $V$-modules that admits the vertex algebraic braided tensor category structure of Huang-Lepowsky-Zhang. We give conditions under which $\mathcal{C}$ inherits semisimplicity from the category of grading-restricted generalized $A$-modules in $\mathcal{C}$, and vice versa. The most important condition is that $A$ be a rigid $V$-module in $\mathcal{C}$ with non-zero categorical dimension, that is, we assume the index of $V$ as a subalgebra of $A$ is finite a…
This is a note for constructing fundamental invariants and computing the Hilbert series of the invariant subalgebras of tensor products of polynomial rings under the action by a direct product of symmetric groups. Our computation relies on Schur functions bringing together several identities of combinatorial generating functions including that of plane partitions.
We construct a family of maximal commutative subalgebras in the tensor product of n copies of the universal enveloping algebra U(g) of a semisimple Lie algebra g. This family is parameterized by collections μ; z_1,...,z_n, where μ\in g^*, and z_1,...,z_n are pairwise distinct complex numbers. The construction presented here generalizes the famous construction of the higher Gaudin hamiltonians due to Feigin, Frenkel, and Reshetikhin. For n=1, our construction gives a quantization of the family of maximal Poisson-commutative subalgebras in S(g) obtained by the argument shift method. Next, we des…
The aim of this paper is to establish a first and second fundamental theorem for $GL(V)$ equivariant polynomial maps from $k$--tuples of matrix variables $End(V)^{ k} $ to tensor spaces $End(V)^{ \otimes n}$ in the spirit of H. Weyl's book {\em The classical groups} \cite{Weyl} and of symbolic algebra.
This paper is a review of results on generalized Harish-Chandra modules in the framework of cohomological induction. The main results, obtained during the last 10 years, concern the structure of the fundamental series of $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{k})-$modules, where $\mathfrak{g}$ is a semisimple Lie algebra and $\mathfrak{k}$ is an arbitrary algebraic reductive in $\mathfrak{g}$ subalgebra. These results lead to a classification of simple $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{k})-$modules of finite type with generic minimal $\mathfrak{k}-$types, which we state. We establish a new result about the Fernando-…
The Green ring of the half quantum group $H=U_n(q)$ is computed in [Chen, Van Oystaeyen, Zhang]. The tensor product formulas between indecomposables may be used for a generalized subgroup depth computation in the setting of quantum groups -- to compute depth of the Hopf subalgebra $H$ in its Drinfeld double $D(H)$. In this paper the Hopf subalgebra quotient module $Q$ (a generalization of the permutation module of cosets for a group extension) is computed and, as $H$-modules, $Q$ and its second tensor power are decomposed into a direct sum of indecomposables. We note that the least power $n$, …
In recent years, algebras and modules of differential operators have been extensively studied. Equivariant quantization and dequantization establish a tight link between invariant operators connecting modules of differential operators on tensor densities, and module morphisms that connect the corresponding dequantized spaces. In this paper, we investigate dequantized differential operators as modules over a Lie subalgebra of vector fields that preserve an additional structure. More precisely, we take an interest in invariant operators between dequantized spaces, viewed as modules over the Lie …
Let $\g$ be a simple Lie algebra of type A or C. We show that the coadjoint representation of any seaweed subalgebra of $\g$ has some properties similar to that of the adjoint representation of a reductive Lie algebra. Namely, a) the field of invariants is rational and b) there exists a generic stabiliser whose identity component is a torus. Our main tool for this is a result about coadjoint representations of some N-graded Lie algebras, which can be regarded as an extension of Rais' theorem for the index of semi-direct products. For all other simple types, we give a uniform description of a p…
We give closed formulae for the q-characters of the fundamental representations of the quantum loop algebra of a classical Lie algebra in terms of a family of partitions satisfying some simple properties. We also give the multiplicities of the eigenvalues of the imaginary subalgebra in terms of these partitions.
The coset $G$-space of a finite group and a subgroup is a fundamental module of study of Schur and others around 1930; for example, its endomorphism algebra is a Hecke algebra of double cosets. We study and review its generalization $Q$ to Hopf subalgebras, especially the tensor powers and similarity as modules over a Hopf algebra, or what's the same, Morita equivalence of the endomorphism algebras. We prove that $Q$ has a nonzero integral if and only if the modular function restricts to the modular function of the Hopf subalgebra. We also study and organize knowledge of $Q$ and its tensor pow…
We consider contractions of Lie and Poisson algebras and the behaviour of their centres under contractions. A polynomial Poisson algebra A=K[W] is said to be of Kostant type, if its centre Z(A) is freely generated by homogeneous polynomials F_1,...,F_r such that they give Kostant's regularity criterion on W (d_xF_i are linear independent if and only if the Poisson tensor has the maximal rank at x). If the initial Poisson algebra is of Kostant type and F_i satisfy a certain degree-equality, then the contraction is also of Kostant type. The general result is illustrated by two examples. Both are…
Let $\fg$ be a symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebra with the standard Cartan subalgebra $\fh$ and the Weyl group $W$. Let $P_+$ be the set of dominant integral weights. For $λ\in P_+$, let $L(λ)$ be the irreducible, integrable, highest weight representation of $\fg$ with highest weight $λ$. For a positive integer $s$, define the {\em saturated tensor semigroup} as \begin{align*} Γ_s:= \{(λ_1, \dots, λ_s,μ)\in P_+^{s+1}: \exists\, N>1 \,\,\text{with}\,\, L(Nμ)\subset L(Nλ_1)\otimes \dots \otimes L(Nλ_s)\}. \end{align*} The aim of this paper is to begin a systematic study of $Γ_s$ in the infinite…
In this paper, we consider the necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor product of the fundamental representations for the restricted quantum loop algebras of type A at roots of unity to be irreducible.
We develop the non-commutative polynomial version of the invariant theory for the quantum general linear supergroup ${\rm{ U}}_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$. A non-commutative ${\rm{ U}}_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$-module superalgebra $\mathcal{P}^{k|l}_{\,r|s}$ is constructed, which is the quantum analogue of the supersymmetric algebra over $\mathbb{C}^{k|l}\otimes \mathbb{C}^{m|n}\oplus \mathbb{C}^{r|s}\otimes (\mathbb{C}^{m|n})^{\ast}$. We analyse the structure of the subalgebra of ${\rm{ U}}_q(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$-invariants in $\mathcal{P}^{k|l}_{\,r|s}$ by using the quantum super analogue of Howe…
We use Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier (KLR) algebras to categorify a crystal isomorphism between a fundamental crystal and the tensor product of a Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal and another fundamental crystal, all in affine type. The nodes of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal correspond to a family of "trivial" modules. The nodes of the fundamental crystal correspond to simple modules of the corresponding cyclotomic KLR algebra. The crystal operators correspond to socle of restriction and behave compatibly with the rule for tensor product of crystal graphs.
We study polynomial SL-invariants of tensors, mainly focusing on fundamental invariants which are of smallest degrees. In particular, we prove that certain 3-dimensional analogue of the Alon--Tarsi conjecture on Latin cubes considered previously by Bürgisser and Ikenmeyer, implies positivity of (generalized) Kronecker coefficients at rectangular partitions and as a result provides values for degree sequences of fundamental invariants.
