The aim of this paper is to establish a first and second fundamental theorem for $GL(V)$ equivariant polynomial maps from $k$--tuples of matrix variables $End(V)^{ k} $ to tensor spaces $End(V)^{ \otimes n}$ in the spirit of H. Weyl's book {\em The classical groups} \cite{Weyl} and of symbolic algebra.
For $\mathfrak{g}$ a simple Lie algebra and $G$ its adjoint group, the Chevalley map and work of Coxeter gives a concrete description of the algebra of $G$-invariant polynomials on $\mathfrak{g}$ in terms of traces over various representations. Here we provide an extension of this description to $G$-invariant tensors on $\mathfrak{g}$, although restricted to only providing generators and only for the classical Lie algebras.
We describe a correspondence between GL_n-invariant tensors and graphs, and show how this correspondence accomodates various types of symmetries and orientations.
The space of invariants of a tensor product of representations of SL(n) is provided with the basis parametrized by wave graphs introduced here especially for this purpose. The proof utilizes a game similar to Tetris, named here L-tris.
For a connected simply connected semisimple algebraic group $G$ we prove existence of invariant tensors in tensor powers of rational $G$-modules and establish relations between existence of such invariant tensors and stability of diagonal actions of $G$ on affine algebraic varieties.
This is a note for constructing fundamental invariants and computing the Hilbert series of the invariant subalgebras of tensor products of polynomial rings under the action by a direct product of symmetric groups. Our computation relies on Schur functions bringing together several identities of combinatorial generating functions including that of plane partitions.
The spaces of invariants of tensor powers of the defining representation of Sp(2n) are provided with the bases parametrized by symplectic wave graphs introduced here especially for this purpose. The proof utilizes a game similar to Tetris, named here S-tris. This work continues my previous work on the tensor invariants of SL(n), wave graphs and L-tris.
We construct a pivotal category by a finite presentation and show that it is an integral form of the category of invariant tensors of the spin representation of the quantum group U_q(B_3) over the field of rational functions in q.
In this paper we give an asymptotic formula for a matrix integral which plays a crucial role in the approach of Diaconis et al. to random matrix eigenvalues. The choice of parameter for the asymptotic analysis is motivated by an invariant theoretic interpretation of this type of integral. For arbitrary regular irreducible representations of arbitrary connected semisimple compact Lie groups, we obtain an asymptotic formula for the trace of certain operators on the space of tensor invariants, thus extending a result of Biane on the dimension of these spaces.
Berenstein, Fomin and Zelevinsky defined functions on double Bruhat cells which they called generalized minors. By relating certain double Bruhat cells to configuration spaces of flags, we give formulas for these generalized minors as tensor invariants. This allows us to verify certain weight identities. The weights of the tensor invariants can then be used to construct the quiver for the cluster structure on the configuration space of three flags. We also show a converse statement--that the weights of tensor invariants can by computed from the structure of the quiver. The weight identities ar…
Using the Grosshans Principle, we develop a method for proving lower bounds for the maximal degree of a system of generators of an invariant ring. This method also gives lower bounds for the maximal degree of a set of invariants that define Hilbert's null cone. We consider two actions: The first is the action of ${\rm SL}(V)$ on ${\rm Sym}^3(V)^{\oplus 4}$, the space of $4$-tuples of cubic forms, and the second is the action of ${\rm SL}(V) \times {\rm SL}(W) \times {\rm SL}(Z)$ on the tensor space $(V \otimes W \otimes Z)^{\oplus 9}$. In both these cases, we prove an exponential lower degree …
The structure of r-fold tensor products of irreducible tame representations of the inductive limit U(\infty) of unitary groups U(n) are are described, versions of contragredient representations and invariants are realized on Bargmann-Segal-Fock spaces.
In this paper, we consider the necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor product of the fundamental representations for the restricted quantum loop algebras of type A at roots of unity to be irreducible.
For a finite group G and a finite-dimensional G-module V, we prove a general result on the Poincaré series for the G-invariants in the tensor algebra T(V). We apply this result to the finite subgroups G of the 2-by-2 special unitary matrices and their natural module V of 2-by-1 column vectors. Because these subgroups are in one-to-one correspondence with the simply laced affine Dynkin diagrams by the McKay correspondence, the Poincaré series obtained are the generating functions for the number of walks on the simply laced affine Dynkin diagrams.
We study polynomial SL-invariants of tensors, mainly focusing on fundamental invariants which are of smallest degrees. In particular, we prove that certain 3-dimensional analogue of the Alon--Tarsi conjecture on Latin cubes considered previously by Bürgisser and Ikenmeyer, implies positivity of (generalized) Kronecker coefficients at rectangular partitions and as a result provides values for degree sequences of fundamental invariants.
In the first part of the book, we classify the automorphic representations of {\rm GSp}(2) which are invariant under tensor product with a given quadratic idèle class character, via the lifting of automorphic representations of twisted endoscopic groups. In the second part of the book, we classify the admissible representations of {\rm GSp}(2, k), k a p-adic field, which are invariant under tensor product with a given quadratic character of k^\times. This classification is given in terms of twisted character identities among the admissible representations of {\rm GSp}(2, k) and those of its tw…
Let G be a connected almost simple algebraic group with a Dynkin automorphism σ. Let G_σ be the connected almost simple algebraic group associated to G and σ. We prove that the dimension of the tensor invariant space of G_σ is equal to the trace of σ on the corresponding tensor invariant space of G. We prove that if G has the saturation property then so does Gσ. As a consequence, we show that the spin group Spin(2n + 1) is of saturation property with factor 2, which strengthens the results of Belkale-Kumar and Sam in the case of type B_n.
Let K be the product O(n_1) x O(n_2) x ... x O(n_r) of orthogonal groups. Let V the r-fold tensor product of defining representations of each orthogonal factor. We compute a stable formula for the dimension of the K-invariant algebra of degree d homogeneous polynomial functions on V. To accomplish this, we compute a formula for the number of matchings which commute with a fixed permutation. Finally, we provide formulas for the invariants and describe a bijection between a basis for the space of invariants and the isomorphism classes of certain r-regular graphs on d vertices, as well as a metho…
We use Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier (KLR) algebras to categorify a crystal isomorphism between a fundamental crystal and the tensor product of a Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal and another fundamental crystal, all in affine type. The nodes of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal correspond to a family of "trivial" modules. The nodes of the fundamental crystal correspond to simple modules of the corresponding cyclotomic KLR algebra. The crystal operators correspond to socle of restriction and behave compatibly with the rule for tensor product of crystal graphs.
Let U be the quantised enveloping algebra associated to a Cartan matrix of finite type. Let W be the tensor product of a finite list of highest weight representations of U. Then the centraliser algebra of W has a basis called the dual canonical basis which gives an integral form. We show that this integral form is cellular by using results due to Lusztig.
We derive several tools for classifying tensor ideals in monoidal categories. We use these results to classify tensor ideals in Deligne's universal categories RepO, RepGL and RepP. These results are then used to obtain new insight into the second fundamental theorem of invariant theory for the algebraic supergroups of types A,B,C,D,P. We also find short proofs for the classification of tensor ideals in RepS and in the category of tilting modules for SL2(k) with char(k)>0 and for Uq(sl2) with q a root of unity. In general, for a simple Lie algebra g of type ADE, we show that the lattice of such…
We define what is a generic separating set of invariant functions (a.k.a. a weak functional basis) for tensors. We produce then two generic separating sets of polynomial invariants for 3D elasticity tensors, one made of 19 polynomials and one made of 21 polynomials (but easier to compute) and a generic separating set of 18 rational invariants. As a byproduct, a new integrity basis for the fourth-order harmonic tensor is provided.
