We consider a stochastic delay differential equation driven by a general Levy process. Both, the drift and the noise term may depend on the past, but only the drift term is assumed to be linear. We show that the segment process is eventually Feller, but in general not eventually strong Feller on the Skorokhod space. The existence of an invariant measure is shown by proving tightness of the segments using semimartingale characteristics and the Krylov-Bogoliubov method. A counterexample shows that the stationary solution in completely general situations may not be unique, but in more specific cases uniqueness is established.
This paper considers the martingale problem for a class of weakly coupled Lévy type operators. It is shown that under some mild conditions, the martingale problem is well-posed and uniquely determines a strong Markov process $(X,Λ)$. The process $(X,Λ)$, called a regime-switching jump diffusion with Lévy type jumps, is further shown to posses Feller and strong Feller properties under non-Lipschitz conditions via the coupling method.
We present a simple construction method for Feller processes and a framework for the generation of sample paths of Feller processes. The construction is based on state space dependent mixing of Lévy processes. Brownian Motion is one of the most frequently used continuous time Markov processes in applications. In recent years also Lévy processes, of which Brownian Motion is a special case, have become increasingly popular. Lévy processes are spatially homogeneous, but empirical data often suggest the use of spatially inhomogeneous processes. Thus it seems necessary to go to the next level of ge…
Let $(L_t)_{t \geq 0}$ be a $k$-dimensional Lévy process and $σ: \mathbb{R}^d \to \mathbb{R}^{d \times k}$ a continuous function such that the Lévy-driven stochastic differential equation (SDE) $$dX_t = σ(X_{t-}) \, dL_t, \qquad X_0 \sim μ$$ has a unique weak solution. We show that the solution is a Feller process whose domain of the generator contains the smooth functions with compact support if, and only if, the Lévy measure $ν$ of the driving Lévy process $(L_t)_{t \geq 0}$ satisfies $$ν(\{y \in \mathbb{R}^k; |σ(x)y+x|<r\}) \xrightarrow[]{|x| \to \infty} 0.$$
We characterize various forms of positive dependence, such as association, positive supermodular association and dependence, and positive orthant dependence, for jump-Feller processes. Such jump processes can be studied through their state-space dependent Levy measures. It is through these Levy measures where we will provide our characterization. Finally, we present applications of these results to stochastically monotone Feller processes, including Levy processes, the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, pseudo-Poisson processes, and subordinated Feller processes.
In this note we generalise the Phillips theorem on the subordination of Feller processes by Levy subordinators to the class of additive subordinators (i.e. subordinators with independent but possibly nonstationary increments). In the case where the original Feller process is Levy we also express the time-dependent characteristics of the subordinated process in terms of the characteristics of the Levy process and the additive subordinator.
These lecture notes are an extended version of my lectures on Lévy and Lévy-type (Feller) processes given at the "Second Barcelona Summer School on Stochastic Analysis" 2014 organized by the Centre de Recerca Matemaatica (CRM). The lectures are aimed at advanced graduate and PhD students. In order to read these notes, one should have sound knowledge of measure theoretic probability theory and some background in stochastic processes, as it is covered in my books "Measures, Integals and Martingales" (Cambridge University Press) and "Brownian Motion" (de Gruyter). My purpose in these lectures is …
In this paper, as a main result, we derive a Chung-Fuchs type condition for the recurrence of Feller processes associated with pseudo-differential operators. In the Lévy process case, this condition reduces to the classical and well-known Chung-Fuchs condition. Further, we also discuss the recurrence and transience of Feller processes with respect to the dimension of the state space and Pruitt indices and the recurrence and transience of Feller-Dynkin diffusions and stable-like processes. Finally, in the one-dimensional symmetric case, we study perturbations of Feller processes which do not af…
This paper considers multidimensional jump type stochastic differential equations with super linear growth and non-Lipschitz coefficients. After establishing a sufficient condition for nonexplosion, this paper presents sufficient non-Lipschitz conditions for pathwise uniqueness. The non confluence property for solutions is investigated. Feller and strong Feller properties under non-Lipschitz conditions are investigated via the coupling method. Sufficient conditions for irreducibility and exponential ergodicity are derived. As applications, this paper also studies multidimensional stochastic di…
The program of studying general nonlinear Markov processes was put forward in V. N. Kolokoltsov "Nonlinear Markov Semigroups and Interacting Lévy Type Processes" (Journ. Stat. Physics 126:3 (2007), 585-642), and was developed by the author in monograph "Nonlinear Markov processes and kinetic equations". Cambridge University Press, 2010, where, in particular, nonlinear Lévy processes were introduced. The present paper is an invitation to the rapidly developing topic of noninear Markov processes. We provide a quick (and at the same time more abstract) introduction to the basic analytical aspects…
By using lower bound conditions of the Lévy measure w.r.t. a nice reference measure, the coupling and strong Feller properties are investigated for the Markov semigroup associated with a class of linear SDEs driven by (non-cylindrical) Lévy processes on a Banach space. Unlike in the finite-dimensional case where these properties have also been confirmed for Lévy processes without drift, in the infinite-dimensional setting the appearance of a drift term is essential to ensure the quasi-invariance of the process by shifting the initial data. Gradient estimates and exponential convergence are als…
We consider the Euler scheme for stochastic differential equations with jumps, whose intensity might be infinite and the jump structure may depend on the position. This general type of SDE is explicitly given for Feller processes and a general convergence condition is presented. In particular the characteristic functions of the increments of the Euler scheme are calculated in terms of the symbol of the Feller process in a closed form. These increments are increments of Lévy processes and thus the Euler scheme can be used for simulation by applying standard techniques from Lévy processes.
This paper is about lower and upper bounds for the Hausdorff dimension of the level and collision sets of a class of Feller processes. Our approach is motivated by analogous results for Lévy processes by Hawkes (for level sets), Taylor and Jain & Pruitt (for collision sets). Since Feller processes lack independent or stationary increments, the methods developed for Lévy processes cannot be used in a straightforward manner. Under the assumption that the Feller process possesses a transition probability density, which admits lower and upper bounds of a certain type, we derive sufficient conditio…
We characterize various forms of positive dependence for a general class of time-inhomogeneous Markov processes called Feller evolution processes (FEPs) and for jump-FEPs. General FEPs can be studied through their time and state-space dependent (extended) generators. We will use the time and state-space dependent (extended) generators and time and state-space dependent Levy measures to characterize the positive dependence of general FEPs and jump-FEPs, respectively. Finally, we present applications of these results to additive processes, which are time-inhomogeneous Levy processes, often arisi…
We present a satisfactory definition of the important class of Lévy processes indexed by a general collection of sets. We use a new definition for increment stationarity of set-indexed processes to obtain different characterizations of this class. As an example, the set-indexed compound Poisson process is introduced. The set-indexed Lévy process is characterized by infinitely divisible laws and a Lévy-Khintchine representation. Moreover, the following concepts are discussed: projections on flows, Markov properties, and pointwise continuity. Finally the study of sample paths leads to a Lévy-Itô…
We characterise the convergence of a certain class of discrete time Markov processes toward locally Feller processes in terms of convergence of associated operators. The theory of locally Feller processes is applied to Lévy-type processes in order to obtain convergence results on discrete and continuous time indexed processes, simulation methods and Euler schemes. We also apply the same theory to a slightly different situation, in order to get results of convergence of diffusions or random walks toward singular diffusions. As a consequence we deduce the convergence of random walks in random me…
For general (1+1)-affine Markov processes, we prove the ergodicity and exponential ergodicity in total variation distances. Our methods follow the arguments of ergodic properties for Lévy-driven OU-processes and a coupling of CBI-processes constructed by stochastic equations driven by time-space noises. Then the strong Feller property is considered.
We show how Hölder estimates for Feller semigroups can be used to obtain regularity results for solutions to the Poisson equation $Af=g$ associated with the (extended) infinitesimal generator $A$ of a Feller process. The regularity of $f$ is described in terms of Hölder-Zygmund spaces of variable order and, moreover, we establish Schauder estimates. Since Hölder estimates for Feller semigroups have been intensively studied in the last years, our results apply to a wide class of Feller processes, e.g. random time changes of Lévy processes and solutions to Lévy-driven stochastic differential equ…
In this paper we study the domain of stable processes, stable-like processes and more general pseudo- and integro-differential operators which naturally arise both in analysis and as infinitesimal generators of Lévy- and Lévy-type (Feller) processes. In particular we obtain conditions on the symbol of the operator ensuring that certain (variable order) Hölder and Hölder-Zygmund spaces are in the domain. We use tools from probability theory to investigate the small-time asymptotics of the generalized moments of a Lévy or Lévy-type process $(X_t)_{t \geq 0}$, \begin{equation*} \lim_{t \to 0} \fr…
A time and space inhomogeneous Markov process is a Feller evolution process, if the corresponding evolution system on the continuous functions vanishing at infinity is strongly continuous. We discuss generators of such systems and show that under mild conditions on the generators a Feller evolution can be approximated by Markov chains with Lévy increments. The result is based on the approximation of the time homogeneous space-time process corresponding to a Feller evolution process. In particular, we show that a $d$-dimensional Feller evolution corresponds to a $d+1$-dimensional Feller process…
The transition law of every exchangeable Feller process on the space of countable graphs is determined by a $σ$-finite measure on the space of $\{0,1\}\times\{0,1\}$-valued arrays. In discrete-time, this characterization amounts to a construction from an independent, identically distributed sequence of exchangeable random functions. In continuous-time, the behavior is enriched by a Lévy--Itô-type decomposition of the jump measure into mutually singular components that govern global, vertex-level, and edge-level dynamics. Furthermore, every such process almost surely projects to a Feller proces…
Let $A$ be a pseudo-differential operator with negative definite symbol $q$. In this paper we establish a sufficient condition such that the well-posedness of the $(A,C_c^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^d))$-martingale problem implies that the unique solution to the martingale problem is a Feller process. This provides a proof of a former claim by van Casteren. As an application we prove new existence and uniqueness results for Lévy-driven stochastic differential equations and stable-like processes with unbounded coefficients.
We consider the exploration process associated to the continuous random tree (CRT) built using a Levy process with no negative jumps. This process has been studied by Duquesne, Le Gall and Le Jan. This measure-valued Markov process is a useful tool to study CRT as well as super-Brownian motion with general branching mechanism. In this paper we prove this process is Feller, and we compute its infinitesimal generator on exponential functionals and give the corresponding martingale.
We find necessary and sufficient conditions for a finite $K$-bi-invariant measure on a compact Gelfand pair $(G, K)$ to have a square-integrable density. For convolution semigroups, this is equivalent to having a continuous density in positive time. When $(G,K)$ is a compact Riemannian symmetric pair, we study the induced transition density for $G$-invariant Feller processes on the symmetric space $X = G/K$. These are obtained as projections of $K$-bi-invariant Lévy processes on $G$, whose laws form a convolution semigroup. We obtain a Fourier series expansion for the density, in terms of sphe…
We present sufficient conditions for the transience and the existence of local times of a Feller process, and the ultracontractivity of the associated Feller semigroup; these conditions are sharp for Lévy processes. The proof uses a local symmetrization technique and a uniform upper bound for the characteristic function of a Feller process. As a byproduct, we obtain for stable-like processes (in the sense of R.\ Bass) on $\R^d$ with smooth variable index $α(x)\in(0,2)$ a transience criterion in terms of the exponent $α(x)$; if $d=1$ and $\inf_{x\in\R} α(x)\in (1,2)$, then the stable-like proce…
We show that the SDE $dX_t = σ(X_{t-}) \, dL_t$, $X_0 \sim μ$ driven by a one-dimensional symnmetric $α$-stable Lévy process $(L_t)_{t \geq 0}$, $α\in (0,2]$, has a unique weak solution for any continuous function $σ: \mathbb{R} \to (0,\infty)$ which grows at most linearly. Our approach relies on random time changes of Feller processes. We study under which assumptions the random-time change of a Feller process is a conservative $C_b$-Feller process and prove the existence of a class of Feller processes with decomposable symbols. In particular, we establish new existence results for Feller pro…
The characteristic measure of excursions away from a regular point is studied for a class of symmetric Lévy processes without Gaussian part. It is proved that the harmonic transform of the killed process enjoys Feller property. The result is applied to prove extremeness of the excursion measure and to prove several sample path behaviors of the excursion and the $ h $-path processes.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing that the coupling for Lévy processes (with non-degenerate jump part) is successful. Our method relies on explicit formulae for the transition semigroup of a compound Poisson process and earlier results by Mineka and Lindvall-Rogers on couplings of random walks. In particular, we obtain that a Lévy process admits a successful coupling, if it is a strong Feller process or if the Lévy (jump) measure has an absolutely continuous component.
In this paper, we first show the well-posedness of the SDEs driven by Lévy noises under mild conditions. Then, we consider the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of the SDEs. To establish the ergodicity and uniqueness of periodic solutions, we investigate the strong Feller property and the irreducibility of the corresponding time-inhomogeneous semigroups when both small and large jumps are allowed in the equations. Some examples are presented to illustrate our results.
Exponential functionals of Lévy processes appear as stationary distributions of generalized Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (GOU) processes. In this paper we obtain the infinitesimal generator of the GOU process and show that it is a Feller process. Further we use these results to investigate properties of the mapping Φ, which maps two independent Lévy processes to their corresponding exponential functional, where one of the processes is assumed to be fixed. We show that in many cases this mapping is injective and give the inverse mapping in terms of (Lévy) characteristics. Also, continuity of Φis treated …
In this paper, we study recurrence and transience of Lévy-type processes, that is, Feller processes associated with pseudo-differential operators. Since the recurrence property of Lévy-type processes in dimensions greater than two is vacuous and the recurrence and transience of one-dimensional Lévy-type processes have been very well investigated, in this paper we are focused on the two-dimensional case only. In particular, we study perturbations of two-dimensional Lévy-type processes which do not affect their recurrence and transience properties, we derive sufficient conditions for their recur…
We show the existence of Lévy-type stochastic processes in one space dimension with characteristic triplets that are either discontinuous at thresholds, or are stable-like with stability index functions for which the closures of the discontinuity sets are countable. For this purpose, we formulate the problem in terms of a Skorokhod-space martingale problem associated with non-local operators with discontinuous coefficients. These operators are approximated along a sequence of smooth non-local operators giving rise to Feller processes with uniformly controlled symbols. They converge uniformly o…
In this paper, we study weak and strong transience of a class of Feller processes associated with pseudo-differential operators, the so-called Lévy-type processes. As a main result, we derive Chung-Fuchs type conditions (in terms of the symbol of the corresponding pseudo-differential operator) for these properties, which are sharp for Lévy processes. Also, as a consequence, we discuss the weak and strong transience with respect to the dimension of the state space and Pruitt indices, thus generalizing some well-known results related to elliptic diffusion and stable Lévy processes. Finally, in t…
Let $(U_t,V_t)$ be a bivariate Lévy process, where $V_t$ is a subordinator and $U_t$ is a Lévy process formed by randomly weighting each jump of $V_t$ by an independent random variable $X_t$ having cdf $F$. We investigate the asymptotic distribution of the self-normalized Lévy process $U_t/V_t$ at 0 and at $\infty$. We show that all subsequential limits of this ratio at 0 ($\infty$) are continuous for any nondegenerate $F$ with finite expectation if and only if $V_t$ belongs to the centered Feller class at 0 ($\infty$). We also characterize when $U_t/V_t$ has a non-degenerate limit distributio…
Let $(X_t)_{t\ge0}$ be a Feller process generated by a pseudo-differential operator whose symbol satisfies $\|p(\cdot,ξ)\|_\infty\le c(1+|ξ|^2)$ and $p(\cdot,0)\equiv0.$ We prove that, for a large class of examples, the Hausdorff dimension of the set $\{X_t: t\in E\}$ for any analytic set $E\subset [0,\infty)$ is almost surely bounded below by $\betalower \Dh E$, where \begin{align*} \betalower&:=\sup\left\{δ>0: \lim_{|ξ|\to \infty} \frac{\inf_{z\in\R^d} \Re p(z,ξ)}{|ξ|^δ}=\infty\right\}. \end{align*}This, along with the upper bound $ \betaupperstar \Dh E$ with \begin{align*} \betaupperstar &:…
We analyse analytic properties of nonlocal transition semigroups associated with a class of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) in $\mathbb{R}^d$ driven by pure jump--type Lévy processes. First, we will show under which conditions the semigroup will be analytic on the Besov space $B_{p,q}^ m(\mathbb{R}^d)$ with $1\le p, q<\infty$ and $m\in\mathbb{R}$. Secondly, we present some applications by proving the strong Feller property and give weak error estimates for approximating schemes of the SDEs over the Besov space $B_{\infty,\infty}^ m(\mathbb{R}^d)$.
We prove smoothing properties of nonlocal transition semigroups associated to a class of stochastic differential equations (SDE) driven by additive pure-jump Lévy noise. In particular, we assume that the Lévy process driving the SDE is the sum of a subordinated Wiener process and of an independent arbitrary Lévy process, that the drift coefficient is continuous (but not necessarily Lipschitz continuous) and grows not faster than a polynomial, and that the SDE admits a Feller weak solution. By a combination of probabilistic and analytic methods, we provide sufficient conditions for the Markovia…
We consider isotropic Lévy processes on a compact Riemannian manifold, obtained from an $\mathbb{R}^d$-valued Lévy process through rolling without slipping. We prove that the Feller semigroups associated with these processes extend to strongly continuous contraction semigroups on $L^p$, for $1\leq p<\infty$, and that they are self-adjoint when $p=2$. When the motion has a non-trivial Brownian part, we prove that the generator has a discrete spectrum of eigenvalues and that the semigroup is trace-class.
In his seminal work from the 1950s, William Feller classified all one-dimensional diffusions on $-\infty\leq a<b\leq \infty$ in terms of their ability to access the boundary (Feller's test for explosions) and to enter the interior from the boundary. Feller's technique is restricted to diffusion processes as the corresponding differential generators allow explicit computations and the use of Hille-Yosida theory. In the present article we study exit and entrance from infinity for the most natural generalization, that is, jump diffusions of the form \[ dZ_t=σ(Z_{t-})\,dX_t, \] driven by stable Lé…
We extend the Ruzhansky-Turunen theory of pseudo differential operators on compact Lie groups into a tool that can be used to investigate group-valued Markov processes in the spirit of the work in Euclidean spaces of N.Jacob and collaborators. Feller semigroups, their generators and resolvents are exhibited as pseudo-differential operators and the symbols of the operators forming the semigroup are expressed in terms of the Fourier transform of the transition kernel. The symbols are explicitly computed for some examples including the Feller processes associated to stochastic flows arising from …
A general continuous-state branching processes in random environment (CBRE-process) is defined as the strong solution of a stochastic integral equation. The environment is determined by a Lévy process with no jump less than $-1$. We give characterizations of the quenched and annealed transition semigroups of the process in terms of a backward stochastic integral equation driven by another Lévy process determined by the environment. The process hits zero with strictly positive probability if and only if its branching mechanism satisfies Grey's condition. In that case, a characterization of the …
We study a time-inhomogeneous SDE in $\R^d$ driven by a cylindrical Lévy process with independent coordinates which may have different scaling properties. Such a structure of the driving noise makes it strongly spatially inhomogeneous and complicates the analysis of the model significantly. We prove that the weak solution to the SDE is uniquely defined, is Markov, and has the strong Feller property. The heat kernel of the process is presented as a combination of an explicit `principal part' and a `residual part', subject to certain $L^\infty(dx)\otimes L^1(dy)$ and $L^\infty(dx)\otimes L^\inft…
We connect boundary conditions for one-sided pseudo-differential operators with the generators of modified one-sided Lévy processes. On one hand this allows modellers to use appropriate boundary conditions with confidence when restricting the modelling domain. On the other hand it allows for numerical techniques based on differential equation solvers to obtain fast approximations of densities or other statistical properties of restricted one-sided Lévy processes encountered, for example, in finance. In particular we identify a new nonlocal mass conserving boundary condition by showing it corre…

The central result of this paper is an analytic duality relation for real-valued Lévy processes killed upon exiting a half-line. By Nagasawa's theorem, this yields a remarkable time-reversal identity involving the Lévy process conditioned to stay positive. As examples of applications, we construct a version of the Lévy process indexed by the entire real line and started from $-\infty$ which enjoys a natural spatial-stationarity property, and point out that the latter leads to a natural Lamperti-type representation for self-similar Markov processes in $(0,\infty)$ started from the entrance poin…
Every exchangeable Feller process taking values in a suitably nice combinatorial state space can be constructed by a system of iterated random Lipschitz functions. In discrete time, the construction proceeds by iterated application of independent, identically distributed functions, while in continuous time the random functions occur as the atoms of a time homogeneous Poisson point process. We further show that every exchangeable Feller process projects to a Feller process in an appropriate limit space, akin to the projection of partition-valued processes into the ranked-simplex and graph-value…
A maximal inequality is an inequality which involves the (absolute) supremum $\sup_{s\leq t}|X_{s}|$ or the running maximum $\sup_{s\leq t}X_{s}$ of a stochastic process $(X_t)_{t\geq 0}$. We discuss maximal inequalities for several classes of stochastic processes with values in an Euclidean space: Martingales, Lévy processes, Lévy-type - including Feller processes, (compound) pseudo Poisson processes, stable-like processes and solutions to SDEs driven by a Lévy process -, strong Markov processes and Gaussian processes. Using the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequalities we als discuss some relation…
In this paper we study pseudo-processes related to odd-order heat-type equations composed with Lévy stable subordinators. The aim of the article is twofold. We first show that the pseudo-density of the subordinated pseudo-process can be represented as an expectation of damped oscillations with generalized gamma distributed parameters. This stochastic representation also arises as the solution to a fractional diffusion equation, involving a higher-order Riesz-Feller operator, which generalizes the odd-order heat-type equation. We then prove that, if the stable subordinator has a suitable expone…
We consider stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by Feller processes which are themselves solutions of multivariate Levy driven SDEs. The solutions of these 'iterated SDEs' are shown to be non-Markovian. However, the process consisting of the driving process and the solution is Markov and even Feller in the case of bounded coefficients. The generator as well as the semimartingale characteristics of this process are calculated explicitly and fine properties of the solution are derived via the stochastic symbol. A short simulation study and an outlook in the direction of stochastic mo…
We study the large deviation behaviour of the trajectories of empirical distributions of independent copies of time-homogeneous Feller processes on locally compact metric spaces. Under the condition that we can find a suitable core for the generator of the Feller process, we are able to define a notion of absolutely continuous trajectories of measures in terms of some topology on this core. Also, we define a Hamiltonian in terms of the linear generator and a Lagrangian as its Legendre transform. We prove the large deviation principle and show that the rate function can be decomposed as a rate …
We analyze the long-term stability of a stochastic model designed to illustrate the adaptation of a population to variation in its environment. A piecewise-deterministic process modeling adaptation is coupled to a Feller logistic diffusion modeling population size. As the individual features in the population become further away from the optimal ones, the growth rate declines, making population extinction more likely. Assuming that the environment changes deterministically and steadily in a constant direction, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of the quasi-stationary distribution, the ass…
In this paper we investigate the argmin process of Brownian motion $B$ defined by $α_t:=\sup\left\{s \in [0,1]: B_{t+s}=\min_{u \in [0,1]}B_{t+u} \right\}$ for $t \geq 0$. The argmin process $α$ is stationary, with invariant measure which is arcsine distributed. We prove that $(α_t; t \geq 0)$ is a Markov process with the Feller property, and provide its transition kernel $Q_t(x,\cdot)$ for $t>0$ and $x \in [0,1]$. Similar results for the argmin process of random walks and Lévy processes are derived. We also consider Brownian extrema of a given length. We prove that these extrema form a delayed…
In the present paper we study a stochastic evolution equation for shell (SABRA \& GOY) models with pure jump \levy noise $L=\sum_{k=1}^\infty l_k(t)e_k$ on a Hilbert space $\h$. Here $\{l_k, k\in \mathbb{N}\}$ is a family of independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) real-valued pure jump \levy processes and $\{e_k, k\in \mathbb{N}\}$ is an orthonormal basis of $\h$. We mainly prove that the stochastic system has a unique invariant measure. For this aim we show that if the \levy measure of each component $l_k(t)$ of $L$ satisfies a certain order and a non-{degeneracy} condition and is ab…
We study a real-valued Lévy-type process $X$, which is locally $α$-stable in the sense that its jump kernel is a combination of a `principal' (state dependent) $α$-stable part with a `residual' lower order part. We show that under mild conditions on the local characteristics of a process (the jump kernel and the velocity field) the process is uniquely defined, is Markov, and has the strong Feller property. We approximate $X$ in law by a non-linear regression $\widetilde X^x_{t}=\mathfrak{f}_t(x)+t^{1/α}U^{x}_t$ with a deterministic regressor term $\mathfrak{f}_t(x)$ and $α$-stable innovation t…
We consider a spectrally positive Lévy process $X$ that does not drift to $+\infty$, viewed as coding for the genealogical structure of a (sub)critical branching process, in the sense of a contour or exploration process \cite{GaJa98,Lam10}. We denote by $I$ the past infimum process defined for each $t\geq 0$ by $I_t:= \inf_{[0,t]} X$ and we let $γ$ be the unique time at which the excursion of the reflected process $X-I$ away from 0 attains its supremum. We prove that the pre-$γ$ and the post-$γ$ subpaths of this excursion are invariant under space-time reversal, which has several other consequ…
