Let $\la$ be a preprojective algebra of simply laced Dynkin type $Δ$. We study maximal rigid $\la$-modules, their endomorphism algebras and a mutation operation on these modules. This leads to a representation-theoretic construction of the cluster algebra structure on the ring $\C[N]$ of polynomial functions on a maximal unipotent subgroup $N$ of a complex Lie group of type $Δ$. As an application we obtain that all cluster monomials of $\C[N]$ belong to the dual semicanonical basis.
Let $Q$ be a finite quiver of Dynkin type and $Λ=Λ_Q$ be the preprojective algebra of $Q$ over an algebraically closed field $k$. Let $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ be the mutation graph of maximal rigid $Λ$ modules. Geiss, Leclerc and Schr$\ddot{\rm o}$er conjectured that $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ is connected, see [C.Geiss, B.Leclerc, J.Schröer, Rigid modules over preprojective algebras, Invent.Math., 165(2006), 589-632]. In this paper, we prove that this conjecture is true when $Λ$ is of representation finite type or tame type. Moreover, we also prove that $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ is isomorphic to the tilting graph of ${…
Let $Q$ be a finite type quiver i.e. ADE Dynkin quiver. Denote by $Λ$ its preprojective algebra. It is known that there are finitely many indecomposable $Λ$-modules if and only if $Q$ is of type $A_1,A_2,A_3,A_4$. In this paper, extending Lusztig's construction of $U\frak{n}_+$, we study an algebra generated by these indecomposable submodules. It turns out that it forms the universal enveloping algebra of some nilpotent Lie algebra inside the function algebra on Lusztig's nilpotent scheme. The defining relations of the corresponding nilpotent Lie algebra for type $A_1, A_2,A_3,A_4$ are given h…
We give a geometric construction of the Verma modules of a symmetric Kac-Moody Lie algebra in terms of constructible functions on the varieties of nilpotent finite-dimensional modules of the corresponding preprojective algebra.
We study minimal degenerations between preprojective modules over wild quivers. Asymptotic properties of such degenerations are studied, with respect to codimension and numbers of indecomposable direct summands. We provide families of minimal disjoint degenerations of arbitrary codimension for almost all wild quivers and show that no such examples exist in the remaining cases.
We give a simple proof, using Auslander-Reiten theory, that the preprojective algebra of a basic hereditary algebra of finite representation type is Frobenius. We then describe its Nakayama automorphism, which is induced by the Nakayama functor on the module category of our hereditary algebra.
For any given symmetrizable Cartan matrix $C$ with a symmetrizer $D$, Geiß~ et al. (2016) introduced a generalized preprojective algebra $Π(C, D)$. We study tilting modules and support $τ$-tilting modules for the generalized preprojective algebra $Π(C, D)$ and show that there is a bijection between the set of all cofinite tilting ideals of $Π(C,D)$ and the corresponding Weyl group $W(C)$ provided that $C$ has no component of Dynkin type. When $C$ is of Dynkin type, we also establish a bijection between the set of all basic support $τ$-tilting $Π(C,D)$-modules and the corresponding Weyl group $…
The work of the first author on the moment map for representations of quivers included a classification of the possible dimension vectors of simple modules for deformed preprojective algebras. That classification was later used to solve an additive analogue of the Deligne-Simpson problem. The last step in the proof of the classification involved some general position arguments; here we give a new approach which avoids such arguments.
Let $n$ be a maximal nilpotent subalgebra of a complex symmetric Kac-Moody Lie algebra. Lusztig has introduced a basis of U(n) called the semicanonical basis, whose elements can be seen as certain constructible functions on varieties of nilpotent modules over a preprojective algebra of the same type as $n$. We prove a formula for the product of two elements of the dual of this semicanonical basis, and more generally for the product of two evaluation forms associated to arbitrary modules over the preprojective algebra. This formula plays an important role in our work on the relationship between…
For any valued quiver, by using BGP-reflection functors, an injection from the set of preprojective objects in the cluster category to the set of cluster variables of the corresponding cluster algebra is given, the images are called preprojective cluster variables. It is proved that all preprojective cluster variables have denominators $u^{\underline{dim}M}$ in their irreducible fractions of integral polynomials, where $M$ is the corresponding preprojective module or preinjective module. If the quiver is of Dynkin type, we generalize the denominator theorem in [FZ2] to any seed, and also gener…
For a symmetrizable GCM $C$ and its symmetrizer $D$, Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer [Invent. Math. 209 (2017)] has introduced a generalized preprojective algebra $Π$ associated to $C$ and $D$, that contains a class of modules, called locally free modules. We show that any basic support $τ$-tilting $Π$-module is locally free and gives a classification theorem of torsion-free classes in $\operatorname{\mathbf{rep}}Π$ as the generalization of the work of Mizuno [Math. Z. 277 (2014)].
The irreducible components of the variety of all modules over the preprojective algebra and MV cycles both index bases of the universal enveloping algebra of the positive part of a semisimple Lie algebra canonically. To relate these two objects Baumann and Kamnitzer associate a cycle in the affine Grassmannian for a given module. It is conjectured that the ring of functions of the T-fixed point subscheme of the associated cycle is isomorphic to the cohomology ring of the quiver Grassmannian of the module. I give a proof of part of this conjecture. Given this conjecture, I give a proof of the r…
This paper studies connections between the preprojective modules over the path algebra of a finite connected quiver without oriented cycles, the (+)-admissible sequences of vertices, and the Weyl group. For each preprojective module, there exists a unique up to a certain equivalence shortest (+)-admissible sequence annihilating the module. A (+)-admissible sequence is the shortest sequence annihilating some preprojective module if and only if the product of simple reflections associated to the vertices of the sequence is a reduced word in the Weyl group. These statements have the following app…
Let L be a preprojective algebra of Dynkin type, and let G be the corresponding complex semisimple simply connected algebraic group. We study rigid modules in subcategories sub(Q) for Q an injective L-module, and we introduce a mutation operation between complete rigid modules in sub(Q). This yields cluster algebra structures on the coordinate rings of the partial flag varieties attached to G.
In this article we study higher preprojective algebras, showing that various known results for ordinary preprojective algebras generalize to the higher setting. We first show that the quiver of the higher preprojective algebra is obtained by adding arrows to the quiver of the original algebra, and these arrows can be read off from the last term of the bimodule resolution of the original algebra. In the Koszul case we are able to obtain the new relations of the higher preprojective algebra by differentiating a superpotential and we show that when our original algebra is $d$-hereditary all the r…

We introduce (n+1)-preprojective algebras of algebras of global dimension n. We show that if an algebra is n-representation-finite then its (n+1)-preprojective algebra is self-injective. In this situation, we show that the stable module category of the (n+1)-preprojective algebra is (n+1)-Calabi-Yau, and, more precisely, it is the (n+1)-Amiot cluster category of the stable n-Auslander algebra of the original algebra. In particular this stable category contains an (n+1)-cluster tilting object. We show that even if the (n+1)-preprojective algebra is not self-injective, under certain assumptions …
For a commutative ring $R$ and an ADE Dynkin quiver $Q$, we prove that the multiplicative preprojective algebra of Crawley-Boevey and Shaw, with parameter $q=1$, is isomorphic to the (additive) preprojective algebra as $R$-algebras if and only if the bad primes for $Q$ (2 in type D, 2 and 3 for $Q = E_{6}$, $E_{7}$ and 2, 3 and 5 for $Q= E_{8}$) are invertible in $R$. We construct an explicit isomorphism over $\mathbb{Z}[1/2]$ in type D, over $\mathbb{Z}[1/2, 1/3]$ for $Q = E_{6}$, $E_{7}$ and over $\mathbb{Z}[1/2, 1/3, 1/5]$ for $Q=E_{8}$. Conversely, if some bad prime is not invertible in $R…
We study support $τ$-tilting modules over preprojective algebras of Dynkin type. We classify basic support $τ$-tilting modules by giving a bijection with elements in the corresponding Weyl groups. Moreover we show that they are in bijection with the set of torsion classes, the set of torsion-free classes and other important objects in representation theory. We also study $g$-matrices of support $τ$-tilting modules, which show terms of minimal projective presentations of indecomposable direct summands. We give an explicit description of $g$-matrices and prove that cones given by $g$-matrices co…
Quivers play an important role in the representation theory of algebras, with a key ingredient being the path algebra and the preprojective algebra. Quiver grassmannians are varieties of submodules of a fixed module of the path or preprojective algebra. In the current paper, we study these objects in detail. We show that the quiver grassmannians corresponding to submodules of certain injective modules are homeomorphic to the lagrangian quiver varieties of Nakajima which have been well studied in the context of geometric representation theory. We then refine this result by finding quiver grassm…
Suppose that $Q$ is a finite quiver and $G\subseteq \Aut(Q)$ is a finite group, $k$ is an algebraic closed field whose characteristic does not divide the order of $G$. For any algebra $Λ=kQ/{\mathcal {I}}$, $\mathcal {I}$ is an arbitrary ideal of path algebra $kQ$, we give all the indecomposable $ΛG$-modules from indecomposable $Λ$-modules when $G$ is abelian. In particular, we apply this result to the deformed preprojective algebra $Π_{Q}^λ$, and get a reflection functor for the module category of $Π_{Q}^λG$. Furthermore, we construct a new quiver $Q_{G}$ and prove that $Π_{Q}^λG$ is Morita e…
Let $Q$ be a wild $n$-Kronecker quiver, i.e., a quiver with two vertices, labeled by 1 and 2, and $n\geq 3$ arrows from 2 to 1. The indecomposable regular modules with preprojective Gabriel-Roiter submodules, in particular, those $τ^{-i}X$ with $\udim X=(1,c)$ for $i\geq 0$ and some $1\leq c\leq n-1$ will be studied. It will be shown that for each $i\geq 0$ the irreducible monomorphisms starting with $τ^{-i}X$ give rise to a sequence of Gabriel-Roiter inclusions, and moreover, the Gabriel-Roiter measures of those produce a sequence of direct successors. In particular, there are infinitely many…
In this paper, we give sufficient properties for a finite dimensional graded algebra to be a higher preprojective algebra. These properties are of homological nature, they use Gorensteiness and bimodule isomorphisms in the stable category of Cohen-Macaulay modules. We prove that these properties are also necessary for $3$-preprojective algebras using \cite{Kel11} and for preprojective algebras of higher representation finite algebras using \cite{Dugas}.
We apply tilting theory over preprojective algebras $Lambda$ to a study of moduli space of $Lambda$-modules. We define the categories of semistable modules and give an equivalence, so-called reflection functors, between them by using tilting modules over $Lambda$. Moreover we prove that the equivalence induces an isomorphism of algebraic varieties between moduli spaces. In particular, we study in the case when the moduli spaces related to the Kleinian singularity. We generalize a result of Crawley-Boevey which is known another proof of the McKay correspondence of Ito-Nakamura type.
The purpose of this paper is to apply the theory of MV polytopes to the study of components of Lusztig's nilpotent varieties. Along the way, we introduce reflection functors for modules over the non-deformed preprojective algebra of a quiver.
Bialkowski, Erdmann and Skowronski classified those indecomposable self-injective algebras for which the Nakayama shift of every (non-projective) simple module is isomorphic to its third syzygy. It turned out that these are precisely the deformations, in a suitable sense, of preprojective algebras associated to the simply laced ADE Dynkin diagrams and of another graph L_n, which also occurs in the Happel-Preiser-Ringel classification of subadditive but not additive functions. In this paper we study these deformed preprojective algebras of type L via their Kuelshammer spaces, for which we give …
Geiß-Leclerc-Schröer [Invent. Math. 209 (2017)] has introduced a notion of generalized preprojective algebra associated with a generalized Cartan matrix and its symmetrizer. This class of algebra realizes a crystal structure on the set of maximal dimensional irreducible components of the nilpotent variety [Selecta Math. (N.S.) 24 (2018)]. For general finite types, we give stratifications of these components via partial orders of torsion classes in module categories of generalized preprojective algebras in terms of Weyl groups. In addition, we realize Mirković-Vilonen polytopes from generic mod…
The aim of this paper is to clarify the relation between the following objects: $ (a) $ rank 1 projective modules (ideals) over the first Weyl algebra $ A_1(\C)$; $ (b) $ simple modules over deformed preprojective algebras $ Π_λ(Q) $ introduced by Crawley-Boevey and Holland; and $ (c) $ simple modules over the rational Cherednik algebras $ H_{0,c}(S_n) $ associated to symmetric groups. The isomorphism classes of each type of these objects can be parametrized geometrically by the same space (namely, the Calogero-Moser algebraic varieties); however, no natural functors between the corresponding …
Maximal green sequences were introduced as combinatorical counterpart for Donaldson-Thomas invariants for 2-acyclic quivers with potential by B. Keller. We take the categorical notion and introduce maximal green sequences for hearts of bounded t-structures of triangulated categories that can be tilted indefinitely. We study the case where the heart is the category of modules over the preprojective algebra of a quiver without loops. The combinatorical counterpart of maximal green sequences for Dynkin quivers are maximal chains in the Hasse quiver of basic support τ-tilting modules. We show that…
We give an interpretation of the $(q,t)$-deformed Cartan matrices of finite type and their inverses in terms of bigraded modules over the generalized preprojective algebras of Langlands dual type in the sense of Geiß-Leclerc-Schröer [Invent. math. 209 (2017)]. As an application, we compute the first extension groups between the generic kernels introduced by Hernandez-Leclerc [J. Eur. Math. Soc. 18 (2016)], and propose a conjecture that their dimensions coincide with the pole orders of the normalized $R$-matrices between the corresponding Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules.
We study the Borel-Moore homology of stacks of representations of preprojective algebras $Π_Q$, via the study of the DT theory of the undeformed 3-Calabi-Yau completion $Π_Q[x]$. Via a result on the supports of the BPS sheaves for $Π_Q[x]$-mod, we prove purity of the BPS cohomology for the stack of $Π_Q[x]$-modules, and define BPS sheaves for stacks of $Π_Q$-modules. These are mixed Hodge modules on the coarse moduli space of $Π_Q$-modules that control the Borel-Moore homology and geometric representation theory associated to these stacks. We show that the hypercohomology of these objects is p…

The aim of this paper is to study the space of stability conditions on the bounded derived category of nilpotent modules over the preprojective algebra associated with a quiver without loops. We describe this space as a covering space of some open set determined by the root system of the Kac-Moody Lie algebra associated with the quiver.
In this paper, we study two-term tilting complexes for preprojective algebras of non-Dynkin type. We show that there exist two families of two-term tilting complexes, which are respectively parameterized by the elements of the corresponding Coxeter group. Moreover, we provide the complete classification in the case of affine type by showing that any two-term silting complex belongs one of them. For this purpose, we also discuss the Krull-Schmidt property for the homotopy category of finitely generated projective modules over a complete ring.
Using a representation theoretical approach we give an explicit numerical characterization in terms of Kronecker invariants of the subfactor relation between two preinjective (and dually preprojective) Kronecker modules, describing explicitly a so called linking module as well. Preinjective (preprojective) Kronecker modules correspond to matrix pencils having only minimal indices for columns (respectively for rows). Thus our result gives a solution to the subpencil problem in these cases (including the completion), moreover the required computations are straightforward and can be carried out e…
With a grading previously introduced by the second-named author, the multiplication maps in the preprojective algebra satisfy a maximal rank property that is similar to the maximal rank property proven by Hochster and Laksov for the multiplication maps in the commutative polynomial ring. The result follows from a more general theorem about the maximal rank property of a minimal almost split morphism, which also yields a quadratic inequality for the dimensions of indecomposable modules involved.
We study the multiplicative properties of the dual of Lusztig's semicanonical basis. The elements of this basis are naturally indexed by theirreducible components of Lusztig's nilpotent varieties, whichcan be interpreted as varieties of modules over preprojective algebras. We prove that the product of two dual semicanonical basis vectorsis again a dual semicanonical basis vector provided the closure ofthe direct sum of thecorresponding two irreducible components is again an irreducible component. It follows that the semicanonical basis and the canonical basiscoincide if and only if we are in Dynk…
We define evaluation forms associated to objects in a module subcategory of Ext-symmetry generated by finitely many simple modules over a path algebra with relations and prove a multiplication formula for the product of two evaluation forms. It is analogous to a multiplication formula for the product of two evaluation forms associated to modules over a preprojective algebra given by Geiss, Leclerc and Schröer in \cite{GLS2006}.
From the viewpoint of higher dimensional Auslander-Reiten theory, we introduce a new class of finite dimensional algebras of global dimension n, which we call n-representation infinite. They are a certain analog of representation infinite hereditary algebras, and we study three important classes of modules: n-preprojective, n-preinjective and n-regular modules. We observe that their homological behaviour is quite interesting. For instance they provide first examples of algebras having infinite Ext^1-orthogonal families of modules. Moreover we give general constructions of n-representation infi…
For an element $w$ of the simply-laced Weyl group, Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott defined a subcategory $\mathcal{F}(w)$ of a module category over a preprojective algebra of Dynkin type. This paper aims at studying categorical properties of $\mathcal{F}(w)$ via its connection with the root system. We show that by taking dimension vectors, simple objects in $\mathcal{F}(w)$ bijectively correspond to Bruhat inversion roots of $w$. As an application, we obtain a combinatorial criterion for $\mathcal{F}(w)$ to satisfy the Jordan-Hölder property (JHP). To achieve this, we develop a method to find simple o…
We determine the Z-module structure of the preprojective algebra and its zeroth Hochschild homology, for any non-Dynkin quiver (and hence the structure working over any base commutative ring, of any characteristic). This answers (and generalizes) a conjecture of Hesselholt and Rains, producing new $p$-torsion classes in degrees 2p^l, l >= 1, We relate these classes by p-th power maps and interpret them in terms of the kernel of Verschiebung maps from noncommutative Witt theory. An important tool is a generalization of the Diamond Lemma to modules over commutative rings, which we give in the ap…
We describe a categorification of the cluster algebra structure of multi-homogeneous coordinate rings of partial flag varieties of arbitrary Dynkin type using Cohen-Macaulay modules over orders. This completes the categorification of Geiss-Leclerc-Schröer by adding the missing coefficients. To achieve this, for an order $A$ and an idempotent $e \in A$, we introduce a subcategory $\operatorname{CM}\nolimits_e A$ of $\operatorname{CM}\nolimits A$ and study its properties. In particular, under some mild assumptions, we construct an equivalence of exact categories $(\operatorname{CM}\nolimits_e A)…
Motivated by the goal of studying cluster algebras in infinite type, we study the stability domains of modules for the preprojective algebra in the corresponding infinite types. Specifically, we study real bricks: those modules whose endomorphism algebra is a division ring and which have no self-extensions. We define "shard modules" to be those real bricks whose stability domain is as large as possible (meaning, of dimension one less than the rank of the preprojective algebra). We show that all real bricks are obtained by applying the Baumann-Kamnitzer reflection functors to simple modules, an…
Let S(n) be the category of invariant subspaces of nilpotent operators with nilpotency index at most n. Such submodule categories have been studied already in 1936 by Birkhoff, they have attracted a lot of attention in recent years, for example in connection with some weighted projective lines (Kussin, Lenzing, Meltzer). On the other hand, we consider the preprojective algebra of type A_n; the preprojective algebras were introduced by Gelfand and Ponomarev, they are now of great interest, for example they form an important tool to study quantum groups (Lusztig) or cluster algebras (Geiss, Lecl…
Let $Q$ be an acyclic quiver and $Λ$ be the complete preprojective algebra of $Q$ over an algebraically closed field $k$. To any element $w$ in the Coxeter group of $Q$, Buan, Iyama, Reiten and Scott have introduced and studied in \cite{Bua2} a finite dimensional algebra $Λ_w=Λ/I_w$. In this paper we look at filtrations of $Λ_w$ associated to any reduced expression $\mathbf{w}$ of $w$. We are especially interested in the case where the word $\mathbf{w}$ is $c$-sortable, where $c$ is a Coxeter element. In this situation, the consecutive quotients of this filtration can be related to tilting $kQ…
We study finiteness conditions on large tilting modules over arbitrary rings. We then turn to a hereditary artin algebra R and apply our results to the (infinite dimensional) tilting module L that generates all modules without preprojective direct summands. We show that the behaviour of L over its endomorphism ring determines the representation type of R. A similar result holds true for the (infinite dimensional) tilting module W that generates the divisible modules. Finally, we extend to the wild case some results on Baer modules and torsion-free modules proven in [AHT] for tame hereditary al…
We study modules with 1-dimensional socle for preprojective algebras for type A quivers. In particular, we classify such modules, determine all homomorphisms between them, and then explain how they may be used to describe the components of Lusztig quiver varieties.
We introduce a central extension of the preprojective algebra of a finite Dynkin quiver (depending on a regular weight for the corresponding root system), whose natural deformed version is flat (unlike that for the preprojective algebra). We calculate the Hilbert polynomial of the central extension, and show that it is a Frobenius algebra. As a corollary, we obtain the Hilbert series of the usual deformed preprojective algebra in which the deformation parameters are variables, and show that this algebra is Gorenstein (although it is not a flat module over the ring of parameters). The proofs ar…
We show that if H is a hereditary finite dimensional algebra, M is a finitely generated H-module and B is a semisimple subalgebra of the endomorphism algebra of M, then the representation dimension of the corresponding triangular matrix algebra is less or equal to 3 whenever one of the following conditions hold: i) H is of finite representation type; ii) H is tame and M is a direct sum of regular and preprojective modules; iii) M has no self-extensions
