Cluster algebras were introduced by S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky in connection with dual canonical bases. To a cluster algebra of simply laced Dynkin type one can associate the cluster category. Any cluster of the cluster algebra corresponds to a tilting object in the cluster category. The cluster tilted algebra is the algebra of endomorphisms of that tilting object. Viewing the cluster tilted algebra as a path algebra of a quiver with relations, we prove in this paper that the quiver of the cluster tilted algebra is equal to the cluster diagram. We study also the relations. As an application of these results, we answer several conjectures on the connection between cluster algebras and quiver representations.
Let $Λ$ be a hereditary algebra, $B_0=End_Λ(T_0)$ be a tilted algebra. We will construct tilting $B_0$-modules from tilting $Λ$-modules and use this result to show how tilting quivers of BB-tilted algebras can be obtained from those of $Λ$
We consider $m$-cluster tilted algebras arising from quivers of Euclidean type and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for those algebras to be representation finite. For the case $\widetilde{A}$, using the geometric realization, we get a description of representation finite type in terms of $(m+2)$-angulations. We establish which $m$-cluster tilted algebras arise at the same time from quivers of type $A$ and $\widetilde{A}$. Finally, we characterize representation infinite $m$-cluster tilted algebras arising from a quiver of type $\widetilde{A}$ as $m$-relations extensions of some ite…
In association with a finite dimensional algebra A of global dimension two, we consider the endomorphism algebra of A, viewed as an object in the triangulated hull of the orbit category of the bounded derived category, in the sense of Amiot. We characterize the algebras A of global dimension two such that its endomorphism algebra is isomorphic to a cluster-tilted algebra with a cyclically oriented quiver.Furthermore, in the case that the cluster tilted algebra with a cyclically oriented quiver is of Dynkin or extended Dynkin type then A is derived equivalent to a hereditary algebra of the same…
Given a finite dimensional algebra $C$ (over an algebraically closed field) of global dimension at most two, we define its relation-extension algebra to be the trivial extension $C\ltimes \Ext_C^2(DC,C)$ of $C$ by the $C$-$C$-bimodule $\Ext_C^2(DC,C)$. We give a construction for the quiver of the relation-extension algebra in case the quiver of $C$ has no oriented cycles. Our main result says that an algebra $\tilde C$ is cluster-tilted if and only if there exists a tilted algebra $C$ such that $\tilde C$ is isomorphic to the relation-extension of $C$.
We investigate the cluster-tilted algebras of finite representation type over an algebraically closed field. We give an explicit description of the relations for the quivers for finite representation type. As a consequence we show that a (basic) cluster-tilted algebra of finite type is uniquely determined by its quiver. Also some necessary conditions on the shapes of quivers of cluster-tilted algebras of finite representation type are obtained along the way.
Motivated by work of Barot, Geiss and Zelevinsky, we study a collection of Z-bases (which we call companion bases) of the integral root lattice of a root system of simply-laced Dynkin type. Each companion basis is associated with the quiver of a cluster-tilted algebra of the corresponding type. In type A, we establish that the dimension vectors of the finitely generated indecomposable modules over a cluster-tilted algebra may be obtained, up to sign, by expanding the positive roots in terms of any companion basis for the quiver of that algebra. This generalises part of Gabriel's Theorem. Also,…
In this paper, we compute the Frobenius dimension of any cluster tilted algebra of finite type. Moreover, we give conditions on the bounded quiver of a cluster tilted algebra $Λ$ such that $Λ$ has non-trivial open Frobenius structures.
We give a criterion allowing to verify whether or not two tilted algebras have the same relation-extension (thus correspond to the same cluster-tilted algebra). This criterion is in terms of a combinatorial configuration in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the cluster-tilted algebra, which we call local slice.
We define an operation which associates to a pair (B,M) where B is a cluster-tilted algebra and M is a B-module which lies in a local slice of B, a new cluster-tilted algebra B'. In terms of the quivers, this operation corresponds to adding one vertex (and arrows).
We give an explicit description of the mutation classes of quivers of type \tilde{A}_n. Furthermore, we provide a complete classification of cluster tilted algebras of type \tilde{A}_n up to derived equivalence. We show that the bounded derived category of such an algebra depends on four combinatorial parameters of the corresponding quiver.
Cluster-tilted algebras are trivial extensions of tilted algebras. This correspondence induces a surjective map from tilted algebras to cluster-tilted algebras. If B is a cluster-tilted algebra, we use the fibre of B under this map to study the module category of B. In particular, we introduce the notion of reflections of tilted algebras and define an algorithm that constructs the transjective component of the Auslander-Reiten quiver of cluster-tilted algebras of tree type.
Let C be a finite dimensional algebra of global dimension at most two. A partial relation extension is any trivial extension of C by a direct summand of its relation C-C-bimodule. When C is a tilted algebra, this construction provides an intermediate class of algebras between tilted and cluster tilted algebras. The text investigates the representation theory of partial relation extensions. When C is tilted, any complete slice in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of C embeds as a local slice in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the partial relation extension; Moreover, a systematic way of producing part…
We prove that all gentle 2-Calabi-Yau tilted algebras (over an algebraically closed field) are Jacobian, moreover their bound quiver can be obtained via block decomposition. Related families of gentle $(m+1)$-Calabi-Yau tilted algebras are the $m$-cluster-tilted algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$ and $\widetilde{\mathbb{A}}$. For these algebras we prove that a module $M$ is stable Cohen-Macaulay if and only if $Ω^{m+1} τM \simeq M$.
We prove that mutation of cluster-tilting objects in triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau categories is closely connected with mutation of quivers with potentials. This gives a close connection between 2-CY-tilted algebras and Jacobian algebras associated with quivers with potentials. We show that cluster-tilted algebras are Jacobian and also that they are determined by their quivers. There are similar results when dealing with tilting modules over 3-CY algebras. The nearly Morita equivalence for 2-CY-tilted algebras is shown to hold for the finite length modules over Jacobian algebras.
Let $Λ$ be a cluster-tilted algebra of finite type over an algebraically closed field and $B$ be one of the associated tilted algebras. We show that the $B$-modules, ordered form right to left in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of $Λ$ form a maximal forward hom-orthogonal sequence of $Λ$-modules whose dimension vectors form the $c$-vectors of a maximal green sequence for $Λ$. Thus we give a proof of Igusa-Todorov's conjecture.
Any cluster-tilted algebra is the relation extension of a tilted algebra. We present a method to, given the distribution of a cluster-tilting object in the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the cluster category, construct all tilted algebras whose relation extension is the endomorphism ring of this cluster-tilting object.
We give a new characterization of tilted algebras by the existence of certain special subquivers in their Auslander-Reiten quiver. This result includes the existent characterizations of this kind and yields a way to obtain more tilted quotient algebras from a given algebra.
In this paper, we characterize all the finite dimensional algebras that are m-cluster tilted algebras of type A tilde. We show that these algebras are gentle and we give an explicit description of their quivers with relations.
Given a cluster-tilted algebra B, we study its first Hochschild cohomology group HH^1(B) with coefficients in the B-B-bimodule B. If C is a tilted algebra such that B is the relation extension of C, then we show that if C is constrained, or else if B is tame, then HH^1(B) is isomorphic, as a k-vector space, to the direct sum of HH^1(C) with k^{n\_{B,C}}, where n\_{B,C} is an invariant linking the bound quivers of B and C. In the representation-finite case, HH^1(B) can be read off simply by looking at the quiver of B.
We give an example of a cluster-tilted algebra A with quiver Q, such that the associated cluster algebra has a denominator vector which is not the dimension vector of any indecomposable A-module. This answers a question posed by T. Nakanishi. The relevant example is a cluster-tilted algebra associated with a tame hereditary algebra. We show that for such a cluster-tilted algebra A, we can write any denominator vector as a sum of the dimension vectors of at most three indecomposable rigid A-modules. In order to do this it is necessary, and of independent interest, to first classify the indecomp…
We show how a cluster-tilted algebra of finite representation type is related to the corresponding tilted algebra, in the case of algebras defined over an algebraically closed field.
In this work we study the connection between iterated tilted algebras and m-cluster tilted algebras. We show that an iterated tilted algebra induces an m-cluster tilted algebra. This m-cluster tilted algebra can be seen as a trivial extension of another iterated tilted algebra which is derived equivalent to the original one. We give a procedure to find this new iterated tilted algebra. These m-cluster tilted algebras are quotients of higher relation extensions.
In this paper, we prove that relation-extensions of quasi-tilted algebras are 2-Calabi-Yau tilted. With the objective of describing the module category of a cluster-tilted algebra of euclidean type, we define the notion of reflection so that any two local slices can be reached one from the other by a sequence of reflections and coreflections. We then give an algorithmic procedure for constructing the tubes of a cluster-tilted algebra of euclidean type. Our main result characterizes quasi-tilted algebras whose relation-extensions are cluster-tilted of euclidean type.
We use the maximal faces of the $m$-cluster complex of type A to describe the m-cluster tilted algebras of type A as quivers with relations. We then classify connected components of m-cluster tilted algebras of type A up to derived equivalence using tilting complexes directly related to the combinatorics of the m-cluster complex of type A. This generalizes a result of Buan and Vatne.
We characterize the syzygies and co-syzygies over 2-Calabi-Yau tilted algebras in terms of the Auslander-Reiten translation and the syzygy functor. We explore connections between the category of syzygies, the category of Cohen-Macaulay modules, the representation dimension of algebras and the Igusa-Todorov functions. In particular, we prove that the Igusa-Todorov dimensions of d-Gorenstein algebras are equal to d. For cluster-tilted algebras of Dynkin type D, we give a geometric description of the stable Cohen-Macaulay category in terms of tagged arcs in the punctured disc. We also describe th…
We derive an algorithm for mutating quivers of 2-CY tilted algebras that have loops and 2-cycles, under certain specific conditions. Further, we give the classification of the 2-CY tilted algebras coming from standard algebraic 2-CY triangulated categories with a finite number of indecomposables. These form a class of algebras that satisfy the setup for our mutation algorithm.
In this paper we give the derived equivalence classification of cluster-tilted algebras of type An. We show that the bounded derived category of such an algebra depends only on the number of 3-cycles in the quiver of the algebra.
For a finite dimensional algebra $R$, we give an explicit description of quivers with relations of block extension of $R$. As an application, we describe quivers with relations of Harada algebras by using those of the corresponding quasi-Frobenius algebras.
We study the module category of a certain Galois covering of a cluster-tilted algebra which we call the cluster repetitive algebra. Our main result compares the module categories of the cluster repetitive algebra of a tilted algebra C and the repetitive algebra of C, in the sense of Hughes and Waschbuesch.
We construct the intermediate coverings of cluster-tilted algebras by defining the generalized cluster categories. These generalized cluster categories are Calabi-Yau triangulated categories with fraction CY-dimension and have also cluster tilting objects (subcategories). Furthermore we study the representations of these intermediate coverings of cluster-tilted algebras.
We study the connection between two combinatorial notions associated to a quiver: the quiver algebra and the path coalgebra. We show that the quiver coalgebra can be recovered from the quiver algebra as a certain type of finite dual, and we show precisely when the path coalgebra is the classical finite dual of the quiver algebra, and when all finite dimensional quiver representations arise as comodules over the path coalgebra. We discuss when the quiver algebra can be recovered as the rational part of the dual of the path coalgebra. Similar results are obtained for incidence (co)algebras. We a…
In this paper, we introduce multi-layer quiver and show how to construct an $(n+1)$-slice algebras of infinite type from an $n$-slice algebra of infinite type using the bound quivers. This leads to constructing $(n+1)$-slice algebras of infinite type as matrix algebra and as tensor algebra of an $n$-slice algebra and equivalences of their module categories as the module categories of diagram of some quiver of type $\widetilde{A}_{n+1}$.
Recent articles have shown the connection between representation theory of quivers and the theory of cluster algebras. In this article, we prove that some cluster algebras of type ADE can be recovered from the data of the corresponding quiver representation category. This also provides some explicit formulas for cluster variables.
We compute the Euler characteristics of quiver Grassmannians and quiver flag varieties of tree and band modules and prove their positivity. This generalizes some results by G.C. Irelli [arXiv:0910.2592]. As an application we consider the Ringel-Hall algebra $C(A)$ of some string algebras $A$ and compute in combinatorial terms the products of arbitrary functions in $C(A)$.
Let $A$ be a truncated quiver algebra over an algebraically closed field such that any oriented cycle in the ordinary quiver of $A$ is zero in $A$. We give the number of the indecomposable direct summands of the middle term of an almost split sequence for a class of Hochschild extension algebras of $A$ by the standard duality module $D(A)$.
This is an overview article on finite-dimensional algebras and quivers, written for the Encyclopedia of Mathematical Physics. We cover path algebras, Ringel-Hall algebras and the quiver varieties of Lusztig and Nakajima.
For a truncated quiver algebra over a field of arbitrary characteristic, its Hochschild cohomology is calculated. Moreover, it is shown that its Hochschild cohomology algebra is finite-dimensional if and only if its global dimension is finite if and only if its quiver has no oriented cycles.
The motivation of this paper is to study the natural quiver of an artinian algebra, a new kind of quivers, as a tool independing upon the associated basic algebra. In \cite{Li}, the notion of the natural quiver of an artinian algebra was introduced and then was used to generalize the Gabriel theorem for non-basic artinian algebras splitting over radicals and non-basic finite dimensional algebras with 2-nilpotent radicals via pseudo path algebras and generalized path algebras respectively. In this paper, firstly we consider the relationship between the natural quiver and the ordinary quiver of …
We consider the bound quiver algebras whose ordinary quiver is that of a canonical algebra. We determine which of those algebras are hereditary, tilted, quasitilted, weakly shod or laura algebras.
This paper has been withdrawn by the authors because it has been combined with "Higher Auslander Algebras Admitting Trivial Maximal Orthogonal Subcategories" (arXiv:0903.0761) together. Please see the new version of the latter paper for the details.
In this paper, we show that the tilting modules over a cluster-tilted algebra $A$ lift to tilting objects in the associated cluster category $\mathcal{C}_H$. As a first application, we describe the induced exchange relation for tilting $A$-modules arising from the exchange relation for tilting object in $\mathcal{C}_H$. As a second application, we exhibit tilting $A$-modules having cluster-tilted endomorphism algebras.
Given a cluster-tilted algebra B we study its first Hochschild cohomology group HH^1(B) with coefficients in the B-B-bimodule B. We find several consequences when B is representation-finite, and also in the case where B is cluster-tilted of type \tilde{\mathbb{A}}.
Happel and Unger defined a partial order on the set of basic tilting modules. The tilting quiver is the Hasse diagram of the poset of basic tilting modules. We determine the number of arrows in the tilting quiver over a path algebra of type $A$ or $D$.
The objective of this paper is to give a concrete interpretation of the dimension of the first Hochschild cohomology space of a cyclically oriented or tame cluster tilted algebra in terms of a numerical invariant arising from the potential.
Over any field of positive characteristic we construct 2-CY-tilted algebras that are not Jacobian algebras of quivers with potentials. As a remedy, we propose an extension of the notion of a potential, called hyperpotential, that allows to prove that certain algebras defined over fields of positive characteristic are 2-CY-tilted even if they do not arise from potentials. In another direction, we compute the fractionally Calabi-Yau dimensions of certain orbit categories of fractionally CY triangulated categories. As an application, we construct a cluster category of type $G_2$.
We characterize the indecomposable transjective modules over an arbitrary cluster-tilted algebra that do not lie on a local slice, and we provide a sharp upper bound for the number of (isoclasses of) these modules.
We introduce a new class of algebras, which we call cluster-tilted. They are by definition the endomorphism algebras of tilting objects in a cluster category. We show that their representation theory is very close to the representation theory of hereditary algebras. As an application of this, we prove a generalised version of so-called APR-tilting.
Let $T$ be a Hochschild extension algebra of a finite dimensional algebra $A$ over a field $K$ by the standard duality $A$-bimodule ${\rm Hom}_K(A,\,K)$. In this paper, we determine the ordinary quiver of $T$ if $A$ is a self-injective Nakayama algebra by means of the $\mathbb{N}$-graded second Hochschild homology group $HH_2(A)$ in the sense of Sköldberg.
The purpose of this paper is to give an explicit formula for the number of non-isomorphic cluster-tilted algebras of type $A_n$, by counting the mutation class of any quiver with underlying graph $A_n$. It will also follow that if $T$ and $T'$ are cluster-tilting objects in a cluster category $\mathcal{C}$, then $\End_{\mathcal{C}}(T)$ is isomorphic to $\End_{\mathcal{C}}(T')$ if and only if $T=τ^i T'$.
We prove that indecomposable transjective modules over cluster-tilted algebras are uniquely determined by their dimension vectors. Similarly, we prove that for cluster-concealed algebras, rigid modules lifting to rigid objects in the corresponding cluster category are uniquely determined by their dimension vectors. Finally, we apply our results to a conjecture of Fomin and Zelevinsky on denominators of cluster variables.
The concept of modulation is generalized to pseudo-modulation and its subclasses including pre-modulation, generalized modulation and regular modulation. The motivation is to define the valued analogue of natural quiver, called {\em natural valued quiver}, of an artinian algebra so as to correspond to its valued Ext-quiver when this algebra is not $k$-splitting over the field $k$. Moreover, we illustrate the relation between the valued Ext-quiver and the natural valued quiver. The interesting fact we find is that the representation categories of a pseudo-modulation and of a pre-modulation are …
We determine the minimal lower bound $n$, with $n \geq 1$, where the $n$-th power of the radical of the module category of a representation-finite cluster tilted algebra vanishes. We give such a bound in terms of the number of vertices of the underline quiver. Consequently, we get the nilpotency index of the radical of the module category for representation-finite self-injective cluster tilted algebras. We also study the non-zero composition of $m$, $m \ge 2$, irreducible morphisms between indecomposable modules in representation-finite cluster tilted algebras lying in the $(m+1)$-th power of …
We define a class of finite-dimensional Jacobian algebras, which are called (simple) polygon-tree algebras, as a generalization of cluster-tilted algebras of type $\D$. They are $2$-CY-tilted algebras. Using a suitable process of mutations of quivers with potentials (which are also BB-mutations) inducing derived equivalences, and one-pointed (co)extensions which preserve singularity equivalences, we find a connected selfinjective Nakayama algebra whose stable category is equivalent to the singularity category of a simple polygon-tree algebra. Furthermore, we also give a classification of algeb…
We show that the generic Hall algebra of nilpotent representations of an oriented cycle specialised at $q=0$ is isomorphic to the generic extension monoid in the sense of Reineke. This continues the work of Reineke.
We count the $\mathbb{F}_q$-rational points of GIT quotients of quiver representations with relations. We focus on two types of algebras -- one is one-point extended from a quiver $Q$, and the other is the Dynkin $A_2$ tensored with $Q$. For both, we obtain explicit formulas. We study when they are polynomial-count. We follow the similar line as in the first paper but algebraic manipulations in Hall algebra will be replaced by corresponding geometric constructions.
