41 pages. In the previous version, there was a mistake in the proof of old Theorem 5.1 asserting compatibility of mutation of QPs and cluster-tilting mutation. In the present version, the proof is fixed by adding assumptions (see new Theorems 5.3 and 5.3), which are satisfied by large classes of examples, in particular those investigated in section 6
We prove that mutation of cluster-tilting objects in triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau categories is closely connected with mutation of quivers with potentials. This gives a close connection between 2-CY-tilted algebras and Jacobian algebras associated with quivers with potentials.
We show that cluster-tilted algebras are Jacobian and also that they are determined by their quivers. There are similar results when dealing with tilting modules over 3-CY algebras. The nearly Morita equivalence for 2-CY-tilted algebras is shown to hold for the finite length modules over Jacobian algebras.
We relate the notions of BB-tilting and perverse derived equivalence at a vertex. Based on these notions, we define mutations of algebras, leading to derived equivalent ones. We present applications to endomorphism algebras of cluster-tilting objects in 2-Calabi-Yau categories and to algebras of global dimension at most 2.
Let $A$ be a finite dimensional hereditary algebra over an algebraically closed field $k$, $A^{(m)}$ be the $m$-replicated algebra of $A$ and $\mathscr{C}_{m}(A)$ be the $m$-cluster category of $ A$. We investigate properties of complements to a faithful almost complete tilting $A^{(m)}$-module and prove that the $m$-cluster mutation in $\mathscr{C}_{m}(A)$ can be realized in ${\rm mod} A^{(m)}$, which generalizes corresponding results on duplicated algebras established in [Z1].
We show the existence of tilting objects in the singularity category $\mathsf{D}_{\mathsf{ Sg}}^{\mathsf{ gr}}(eAe)$ associated to certain noetherian AS-regular algebras $A$ and idempotents $e$. This gives a triangle equivalence between $\mathsf{D}_{\mathsf{ Sg}}^{\mathsf{ gr}}(eAe)$ and the derived category of a finite-dimensional algebra. In particular, we obtain a tilting object if the Beilinson algebra of $A$ is a levelled Koszul algebra. This generalises the existence of a tilting object in $\mathsf{D}_{\mathsf{ Sg}}^{\mathsf{ gr}}(S^G)$, where $S$ is a Koszul AS-regular algebra and $G$ i…
Mutation of τ-tilting modules is a basic operation to construct a new support τ-tilting module from a given one by replacing a direct summand. The aim of this paper is to give a positive answer to the question posed in [AIR, Question 2.31] about mutation of τ-tilting modules.
The notion of mutation plays crucial roles in representation theory of algebras. Two kinds of mutation are well-known: tilting/silting mutation and quiver-mutation. In this paper, we focus on tilting mutation for symmetric algebras. Introducing mutation of SB quivers, we explicitly give a combinatorial description of tilting mutation of symmetric special biserial algebras. As an application, we generalize Rickard's star theorem. We also introduce flip of Brauer graphs and apply our results to Brauer graph algebras.
The notion of silting mutation was introduced by Iyama and the author. In this paper we mainly study silting mutation for self-injective algebras and prove that any representation-finite symmetric algebra is tilting-connected. Moreover we give some sufficient conditions for a Bongartz-type Lemma to hold for silting objects.
Tilting mutation is a way of producing new tilting complexes from old ones replacing only one indecomposable summand. In this paper, we give a purely combinatorial procedure for performing tilting mutation of suitable algebras. As an application, we recreate a result due to Ladkani, which states that the path algebra of a quiver shaped like a line (with certain relations) is derived equivalent to the path algebra of a quiver shaped like a rectangle. We will do this by producing an explicit series of tilting mutations going between the two algebras.
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be a Hom-finite, Krull-Schmidt, 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category with a rigid object $R$. Let $Λ=\operatorname{End}_{\mathcal{D}}R$ be the endomorphism algebra of $R$. We introduce the notion of mutation of maximal rigid objects in the two-term subcategory $R\ast R[1]$ via exchange triangles, which is shown to be compatible with mutation of support $τ$-tilting $Λ$-modules. In the case that $\mathcal{D}$ is the cluster category arising from a punctured marked surface, it is shown that the graph of mutations of support $τ$-tilting $Λ$-modules is isomorphic to the graph of fli…
We present a graded mutation rule for quivers of cluster-tilted algebras. Furthermore, we give a technique to recover a cluster-tilting object from its graded quiver in the cluster category of coh $\mathbb{X}$.
In representation theory of algebras the notion of `mutation' often plays important roles, and two cases are well known, i.e. `cluster tilting mutation' and `exceptional mutation'. In this paper we focus on `tilting mutation', which has a disadvantage that it is often impossible, i.e. some of summands of a tilting object can not be replaced to get a new tilting object. The aim of this paper is to take away this disadvantage by introducing `silting mutation' for silting objects as a generalization of `tilting mutation'. We shall develope a basic theory of silting mutation. In particular, we int…
For a finite dimensional hereditary algebra, we consider: exceptional sequences in the category of finite dimensional modules, silting objects in the bounded derived category, and m-cluster tilting objects in the m-cluster category. There are mutation operations on both the set of m-cluster tilting objects and the set of exceptional sequences. It is also possible to define a mutation operation for silting objects. We compare these three different notions of mutation.
Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a weighted projective line of tubular type and $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ the category of coherent sheaves on $\mathbb{X}$. The main purpose of this note is to show that the subgraph of the tilting graph consisting of all basic tilting bundles in $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ is connected. This yields an alternative proof for the connectedness of the tilting graph of $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$. Our approach leads to the investigation of the change of slopes of a tilting sheaf in $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ under (co-)APR mutations, which may be of independent in…
This paper shows a new phenomenon in higher cluster tilting theory. For each positive integer d, we exhibit a triangulated category C with the following properties. On the one hand, the d-cluster tilting subcategories of C have very simple mutation behaviour: Each indecomposable object has exactly d mutations. On the other hand, the weakly d-cluster tilting subcategories of C which lack functorial finiteness can have much more complicated mutation behaviour: For each 0 <= \ell <= d-1, we show a weakly d-cluster tilting subcategory T_{\ell} which has an indecomposable object with precisely \ell…
We study the quiver with relations of the endomorphism algebra of an APR tilting module. We give an explicit description of the quiver with relations by graded quivers with potential (QPs) and mutations. The result also implies that mutations of QPs with algebraic cuts induce tilting mutations between the associated truncated Jacobian algebras. Consequently, mutations of QPs provide a rich source of derived equivalence classes of algebras. As an application, we give a sufficient condition of QPs such that Derksen-Weyman-Zelevinsky's question has a positive answer.
We define mutation on coloured quivers associated to tilting objects in higher cluster categories. We show that this operation is compatible with the mutation operation on the tilting objects. This gives a combinatorial approach to tilting in higher cluster categories and especially an algorithm to determine the Gabriel quivers of tilting objects in such categories.
We consider tilting mutations of a weakly symmetric algebra at a subset of simple modules, as recently introduced by T. Aihara. These mutations are defined as the endomorphism rings of certain tilting complexes of length 1. Starting from a weakly symmetric algebra A, presented by a quiver with relations, we give a detailed description of the quiver and relations of the algebra obtained by mutating at a single loopless vertex of the quiver of A. In this form the mutation procedure appears similar to, although significantly more complicated than, the mutation procedure of Derksen, Weyman and Zel…
Let $A$ be a finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field $k$. We investigate the structure properties of the endomorphism algebras of semi-tilting $A$-modules, and prove that the endomorphism algebras arising from the mutations of semi-tilting $A$-modules can be realized as the endomorphism algebras of BB-tilting modules.
APR tilts for path algebra $kQ$ can be realized as the mutation of the quiver $Q$ in $\mathbb Z Q$ with respect to the translation. In this paper, we show that we have similar results for the quadratic dual of truncations of $n$-translation algebras, that is, under certain condition, the $n$-APR tilts of such algebras are realized as $τ$-mutations.For the dual $τ$-slice algebras with bound quiver $Q^{\perp}$, we show that their iterated $n$-APR tilts are realized by the iterated $τ$-mutations in $\mathbb Z|{n-1}Q^{\perp}$.
Assume that $\D$ is a Krull-Schmidt, Hom-finite triangulated category with a Serre functor and a cluster-tilting object $T$. We introduce the notion of relative cluster tilting objects, and $T[1]$-cluster tilting objects in $\D$, which are a generalization of cluster-tilting objects. When $\D$ is $2$-Calabi-Yau, the relative cluster tilting objects are cluster-tilting. Let $\la={\rm End}^{op}_{\D}(T)$ be the opposite algebra of the endomorphism algebra of $T$. We show that there exists a bijection between $T[1]$-cluster tilting objects in $\D$ and support $τ$-tilting $\la$-modules, which gener…
Important objects of study in $τ$-tilting theory include the $τ$-tilting pairs over an algebra on the form $kQ/I$, with $kQ$ being a path algebra and $I$ an admissible ideal. In this paper, we study aspects of the combinatorics of mutation quivers of support $τ$-tilting pairs, simply called mutation quivers. In particular, we are interested in identifying connected components of the underlying graphs of such quivers. We give a class of algebras with two simple modules such that every algebra in the class has at most two connected components in its mutation quiver, generalizing a result by Demo…
Let $Γ$ be a split extension of a finite-dimensional algebra $Λ$ by a nilpotent bimodule $_ΛE_Λ$, and let $(T,P)$ be a pair in $\modΛ$ with $P$ projective. We prove that $(T\otimes_ΛΓ_Γ, P\otimes_ΛΓ_Γ)$ is a support $τ$-tilting pair in $\mod Γ$ if and only if $(T,P)$ is a support $τ$-tilting pair in $\mod Λ$ and $\Hom_Λ(T\otimes_ΛE,τT_Λ)=0=\Hom_Λ(P,T\otimes_ΛE)$. As applications, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition such that $(T\otimes_ΛΓ_Γ, P\otimes_ΛΓ_Γ)$ is support $τ$-tilting pair for a cluster-tilted algebra $Γ$ corresponding to a tilted algebra $Λ$; and we also get that if $T_…
In this paper we introduce mutation of Brauer trees. We show that our mutation of Brauer trees explicitly describes the tilting mutation of Brauer tree algebras introduced by Okuyama and Rickard.
Matrix mutation appears in the definition of cluster algebras of Fomin and Zelevinsky. We give a representation theoretic interpretation of matrix mutation, using tilting theory in cluster categories of hereditary algebras. Using this, we obtain a representation theoretical interpretation of cluster mutation in case of acyclic cluster algebras of finite type.
We study cluster tilting modules in mesh algebras of Dynkin type, providing a new proof for their existence. In all but one case, we show that these are precisely the maximal rigid modules, and that they are equivariant for a certain automorphism. We further study their mutation, providing an example of mutation in an abelian category which is not stably 2-Calabi-Yau, and explicitly describe the combinatorics.
We say that an algebra $Λ$ over a commutative noetherian ring $R$ is Calabi-Yau of dimension $d$ ($d$-CY) if the shift functor $[d]$ gives a Serre functor on the bounded derived category of the finite length $Λ$-modules. We show that when $R$ is $d$-dimensional local Gorenstein the $d$-CY algebras are exactly the symmetric $R$-orders of global dimension $d$. We give a complete description of all tilting modules of projective dimension at most one for 2-CY algebras, and show that they are in bijection with elements of affine Weyl groups, preserving various natural partial orders. We show that t…
Let $A$ be a finite dimensional algebra over an algebraically closed field $k$, $\mathcal {D}^b(A)$ be the bounded derived category of $A$-mod and $A^{(m)}$ be the $m$-replicated algebra of $A$. In this paper, we investigate the structure properties of endomorphism algebras arising from silting mutation in $\mathcal {D}^b(A)$ and tilting mutation in $A^{(m)}$-mod.
In this note, we consider the $d$-cluster-tilted algebras, the endomorphism algebras of $d$-cluster-tilting objects in $d$-cluster categories. We show that a tilting module over such an algebra lifts to a $d$-cluster-tilting object in this $d$-cluster category.
From the viewpoint of mutation, we will give a brief survey of tilting theory and cluster-tilting theory together with a motivation from cluster algebras. Then we will give an introdution to τ-tilting theory which was recently developed in [AIR].
In this paper, we show that the tilting modules over a cluster-tilted algebra $A$ lift to tilting objects in the associated cluster category $\mathcal{C}_H$. As a first application, we describe the induced exchange relation for tilting $A$-modules arising from the exchange relation for tilting object in $\mathcal{C}_H$. As a second application, we exhibit tilting $A$-modules having cluster-tilted endomorphism algebras.
We show that a tilting module over the endomorphism algebra of a cluster-tilting object in a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category lifts to a cluster-tilting object in this 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category. This generalizes a recent work of D. Smith for cluster categories.
We show that the endomorphism ring of each cluster tilting object in a tubular cluster category is a finite dimensional Jacobian algebra which is tame of polynomial growth. Moreover, these Jacobian algebras are given by a quiver with a non-degenerate potential and mutation of cluster tilting objects is compatible with mutation of QPs.
We introduce and study mutation of torsion pairs, as a generalization of mutation of cluster tilting objects, rigid objects and maximal rigid objects. It is proved that any mutation of a torsion pair is again a torsion pair. A geometric realization of mutation of torsion pairs in the cluster category of type $A_n$ or $A_{\infty}$ is given via rotation of Ptolemy diagrams.
Using cluster tilting theory, we investigate tilting objects in the stable category of vector bundles on a weighted projective line of weight type $(2, 2, 2, 2)$. More precisely, a tilting object consisting of rank-two bundles is constructed via cluster tilting mutation. Moreover, the cluster tilting approach also provides a new method to classify the endomorphism algebras of tilting objects in the category of coherent sheaves and the associated bounded derived category.
In this article, we initiate the study of hereditary extriangulated categories. Many important categories arising in representation theory in connection with various theories of mutation are hereditary extriangulated. Special cases include homotopy categories of 2-term complexes with projective components, which are related to silting mutation, and cluster categories (with relevant relative extriangulated structures) where cluster tilting mutation take place. We prove that there is a theory of irreducible mutation for maximal rigid objects and subcategories in hereditary extriangulated categor…
Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a connected hereditary abelian category with tilting objects. It is proved that the cluster-tilting graph associated with $\mathcal{H}$ is always connected. As a consequence, we establish the connectedness of the tilting graph for the category $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of wild type. The connectedness of tilting graphs for such categories was conjectured by Happel-Unger, which has immediately applications in cluster algebras. For instance, we deduce that there is a bijection between the set of indecomposa…
We develop silting theory of a noetherian algebra $Λ$ over a commutative noetherian ring $R$. We study mutation theory of $2$-term silting complexes of $Λ$, and as a consequence, we see that mutation exists. As in the case of finite dimensional algebras, functorially finite torsion classes of $Λ$ bijectively correspond to silting $Λ$-modules, if $R$ is complete local. We show a reduction theorem of $2$-term silting complexes of $Λ$, and by using this theorem, we study torsion classes of the module category of $Λ$. When $R$ has Krull dimension one, we describe the set of torsion classes of $Λ$ …
We consider the general notion of coloured quiver mutation and show that the mutation class of a coloured quiver $Q$, arising from an $m$-cluster tilting object associated with $H$, is finite if and only if $H$ is of finite or tame representation type, or it has at most 2 simples. This generalizes a result known for 1-cluster categories.
We survey results on mutations of Jacobian algebras, while simultaneously extending them to the more general setup of frozen Jacobian algebras, which arise naturally from dimer models with boundary and in the context of the additive categorification of cluster algebras with frozen variables via Frobenius categories. As an application, we show that the mutation of cluster-tilting objects in various such categorifications, such as the Grassmannian cluster categories of Jensen-King-Su, is compatible with Fomin-Zelevinsky mutation of quivers. We also describe an extension of this combinatorial mut…
In this paper, we study the relationship between equivalences of noncommutative projective schemes and cluster tilting modules. In particular, we prove the following result. Let $A$ be an AS-Gorenstein algebra of dimension $d\geq 2$ and ${\mathsf{tails}\,} A$ the noncommutative projective scheme associated to $A$. If $\operatorname{gldim}({\mathsf{tails}\,} A)< \infty$ and $A$ has a $(d-1)$-cluster tilting module $X$ satisfying that its graded endomorphism algebra is $\mathbb N$-graded, then the graded endomorphism algebra $B$ of a basic $(d-1)$-cluster tilting submodule of $X$ is a two-sided …
From the viewpoint of higher homological algebra, we introduce pure semisimple $n$-abelian category, which is analogs of pure semisimple abelian category. Let $Λ$ be an Artin algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ be an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory of $Mod$-$Λ$. We show that $\mathcal{M}$ is pure semisimple if and only if each module in $\mathcal{M}$ is a direct sum of finitely generated modules. Let $\mathfrak{m}$ be an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory of $mod$-$Λ$. We show that $Add(\mathfrak{m})$ is an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory of $Mod$-$Λ$ if and only if $\mathfrak{m}$ has an additive generator…
We introduce a new category C, which we call the cluster category, obtained as a quotient of the bounded derived category D of the module category of a finite-dimensional hereditary algebra H over a field. We show that, in the simply-laced Dynkin case, C can be regarded as a natural model for the combinatorics of the corresponding Fomin-Zelevinsky cluster algebra. In this model, the tilting modules correspond to the clusters of Fomin-Zelevinsky. Using approximation theory, we investigate the tilting theory of C, showing that it is more regular than that of the module category itself, and demon…
We study the maximal rigid subcategories in $2-$CY triangulated categories and their endomorphism algebras. Cluster tilting subcategories are obviously maximal rigid; we prove that the converse is true if the $2-$CY triangulated categories admit a cluster tilting subcategory. As a generalization of a result of [KR], we prove that any maximal rigid subcategory is Gorenstein with Gorenstein dimension at most 1. Similar as cluster tilting subcategory, one can mutate maximal rigid subcategories at any indecomposable object. If two maximal rigid objects are reachable via mutations, then their endom…
Let $Q$ be a finite quiver of Dynkin type and $Λ=Λ_Q$ be the preprojective algebra of $Q$ over an algebraically closed field $k$. Let $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ be the mutation graph of maximal rigid $Λ$ modules. Geiss, Leclerc and Schr$\ddot{\rm o}$er conjectured that $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ is connected, see [C.Geiss, B.Leclerc, J.Schröer, Rigid modules over preprojective algebras, Invent.Math., 165(2006), 589-632]. In this paper, we prove that this conjecture is true when $Λ$ is of representation finite type or tame type. Moreover, we also prove that $\mathcal {T}_Λ$ is isomorphic to the tilting graph of ${…
We introduce the notion of mutation of $n$-cluster tilting subcategories in a triangulated category with Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality. Using this idea, we are able to obtain the complete classifications of rigid Cohen-Macaulay modules over certain Veronese subrings.
We study higher cluster tilting objects in generalized higher cluster categories arising from dg algebras of higher Calabi-Yau dimension. Taking advantage of silting mutations of Aihara-Iyama, we obtain a class of $m$-cluster tilting objects in generalized $m$-cluster categories. For generalized $m$-cluster categories arising from strongly ($m+2$)-Calabi-Yau dg algebras, by using truncations of minimal cofibrant resolutions of simple modules, we prove that each almost complete $m$-cluster tilting $P$-object has exactly $m+1$ complements with periodicity property. This leads us to the conjectur…
Let $\C$ be a triangulated category with a cluster tilting subcategory $\T$. We introduce the notion of $\T[1]$-cluster tilting subcategories (also called ghost cluster tilting subcategories) of $\C$, which are a generalization of cluster tilting subcategories. We first develop a basic theory on ghost cluster tilting subcategories. Secondly, we study links between ghost cluster tilting theory and $τ$-tilting theory: Inspired by the work of Iyama, Jørgensen and Yang \cite{ijy}, we introduce the notion of $τ$-tilting subcategories and tilting subcategories of $\mod\T$. We show that there exists …
Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a triangulated category with shift functor $[1]$ and $\mathcal{R}$ a rigid subcategory of $\mathcal{C}$. We introduce the notions of two-term $\mathcal{R}[1]$-rigid subcategories, two-term (weak) $\mathcal{R}[1]$-cluster tilting subcategories and two-term maximal $\mathcal{R}[1]$-rigid subcategories, and discuss relationship between them. Our main result shows that there exists a bijection between the set of two-term $\mathcal{R}[1]$-rigid subcategories of $\mathcal{C}$ and the set of $τ$-rigid subcategories of $\mod\mathcal{R}$, which induces a one-to-one correspondence b…
In this study, we consider the positive cluster complex, a full subcomplex of a cluster complex the vertices of which are all non-initial cluster variables. In particular, we provide a formula for the difference in face vectors of positive cluster complexes caused by a mutation for finite type. Moreover, we explicitly describe specific positive cluster complexes of finite type and calculate their face vectors. We also provide a method to compute the face vector of an arbitrary positive cluster complex of finite type using these results. Furthermore, we apply our results to the $τ$-tilting theo…
