Integral geometry deals with those integral transforms which associate to ``functions'' on a manifold their integrals along submanifolds parameterized by another manifold. Basic problems in this context are range characterization--where systems of PDE appear--and inversion formulae. As we pointed out in a series of joint papers with Pierre Schapira, the language of sheaves and D-modules provides both a natural framework and powerful tools for the study of such problems. In particular, it provides a general adjunction formula which is a sort of archetypical theorem in integral geometry. Focusing on range characterization, we illustrate this approach with a discussion of the Radon transform, in some of its manifold manifestations.
We define the notions of micro-support and regularity for ind-sheaves, and prove their invariance by contact transformations. We apply the results to the ind-sheaves of temperate holomorphic solutions of D-modules. We prove that the micro-support of such an ind-sheaf is the characteristic variety of the corresponding D-module and that the ind-sheaf is regular if the D-module is regular holonomic.
We survey nearby and vanishing cycles for both perverse sheaves and D-modules under analytic setting. Following ideas of A. Beilinson, M. Kashiwara and M. Saito, we explain in detail the proof of the comparison theorem between them in the sense of Riemann-Hilbert correspondence.
We prove the existence of fine moduli spaces of simple coherent sheaves on families of irreducible curves. Our proof is based on the existence of a universal upper bound of the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of such sheaves, which we provide.
We interprete results of Markman on monodromy operators as a universality statement for descendent integrals over moduli spaces of stable sheaves on $K3$ surfaces. This yields effective methods to reduce these descendent integrals to integrals over the punctual Hilbert scheme of the $K3$ surface. As an application we establish the higher rank Segre-Verlinde correspondence for $K3$ surfaces as conjectured by Göttsche and Kool.
We study the passage from Drinfeld-A'-modules to Drinfeld-A-modules for a given finite flat inclusion A \subset A'. We show that this defines a morphism from the moduli space of Drinfeld-A'-modules to the moduli space of Drinfeld-A-modules which is proper but in general not representable. For Drinfeld-Anderson shtuka and abelian sheaves instead of Drinfeld modules we obtain the same results.
We introduce a class of causal manifolds which contains the globally hyperbolic spacetimes and we prove global propagation theorems for sheaves on such manifolds. As an application, we solve globally the Cauchy problem for hyperfunction solutions of hyperbolic systems.
Recently, the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence was generalized in the context of general holonomic D-modules by A. D'Agnolo and M. Kashiwara. Namely, they proved that their enhanced de Rham functor gives a fully faithfully embedding of the derived category of cohomologically holonomic complexes of D-modules into the derived category of complexes of real constructible enhanced ind-sheaves. In this paper, we study a condition when a complex of real constructible enhanced ind-sheaves $K$ is induced by a cohomologically holonomic complex of D-modules. We characterize such $K$ in terms of the restric…
We construct a moduli scheme for semistable pre-$\D$-modules with prescribed singularities and numerical data on a smooth projective variety. These pre-$\D$-modules are to be viewed as regular holonomic $\D$-modules with `level structure'. We also construct a moduli scheme for perverse sheaves on the variety with prescribed singularities and other numerical data, and represent the de Rham functor (which gives the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence) by an analytic morphism between the two moduli schemes.
The theory of integral, or Fourier-Mukai, transforms between derived categories of sheaves is a well established tool in noncommutative algebraic geometry. General "representation theorems" identify all reasonable linear functors between categories of perfect complexes (or their "large" version, quasi-coherent sheaves) on schemes and stacks over some fixed base with integral kernels in the form of sheaves (of the same nature) on the fiber product. However, for many applications in mirror symmetry and geometric representation theory one is interested instead in the bounded derived category of c…
In this paper we study the second integral cohomology of moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on projective K3 surfaces. If $S$ is a projective K3 surface, $v$ a Mukai vector and $H$ a $v-$generic polarization on $S$, we show that $H^{2}(M_{v},\mathbb{Z})$ is a free $\mathbb{Z}-$module of rank 23 carrying a pure weight-two Hodge structure and a lattice structure, with respect to which $H^{2}(M_{v},\mathbb{Z})$ is Hodge isometric to the Hodge sublattice $v^{\perp}$ of the Mukai lattice of $S$. Similar results are proved for Abelian surfaces.
We define the derived category of quasi--coherent modules for certain Artin stacks as the homotopy category of two Quillen monoidal model structures on the corresponding category of unbounded complexes of quasi--coherent modules.
With representation-theoretic applications in mind, we construct a formalism of reduced motives with integral coefficients. These are motivic sheaves from which the higher motivic cohomology of the base scheme has been removed. We show that reduced stratified Tate motives satisfy favorable properties including weight and t-structures. We also prove that reduced motives on cellular (ind-)schemes unify various approaches to mixed sheaves in representation theory, such as Soergel-Wendt's semisimplified Hodge motives, Achar-Riche's complexes of parity sheaves, as well as Ho-Li's recent category of…
In this paper we define tensor modules(sheaves) of Schur type,or of generalized Schur type associated with the give module(sheaf), using the so-called Schur functors. Then using global method we construct canonical homomorphisms between these modules(sheaves). We will get canonical isomorphisms if the original sheaf is locally free using idea of algebraic geometry, which is in fact a generalization of result in linear algebra. In the final section, we give canonical complexes using homomorphisms constructed before, and these complexes will become split exact sequence if further condition holds…
We extend Nadel's results on some conditions for the multiplier ideal sheaves to satisfy which are described in terms of an obstruction defined by the first author. Applying our extension we can determine the multiplier ideal sheaves on toric del Pezzo surfaces which do not admit Kähler-Einstein metrics. We also show that one can define multiplier ideal sheaves for Kähler-Ricci solitons and extend the result of Nadel using the holomorphic invariant defined by Tian and Zhu.
Let A be a del Pezzo order on the projective plane over the field of complex numbers. We prove that every torsion-free A-module of rank one can be deformed into a locally free A-module of rank one.
We prove that the length function for perverse sheaves and algebraic regular holonomic D-modules on a smooth complex algebraic variety Y is an absolute Q-constructible function. One consequence is: for "any" fixed natural (derived) functor F between constructible complexes or perverse sheaves on two smooth varieties X and Y, the loci of rank one local systems L on X whose image F(L) has prescribed length are Zariski constructible subsets defined over Q, obtained from finitely many torsion-translated complex affine algebraic subtori of the moduli of rank one local systems via a finite sequence …
Differential systems of pure Gaussian type are examples of D-modules on the complex projective line with an irregular singularity at infinity, and as such are subject to the Stokes phenomenon. We employ the theory of enhanced ind-sheaves and the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence for holonomic D-modules of A. D'Agnolo and M. Kashiwara to describe the Stokes phenomenon topologically. Using this description, we perform a topological computation of the Fourier-Laplace transform of a D-module of pure Gaussian type in this framework, recovering and generalizing a result of C. Sabbah.
We construct the derived scheme of stable sheaves on a smooth projective variety via derived moduli of finite graded modules over a graded ring. We do this by dividing the derived scheme of actions of Ciocan-Fontanine and Kapranov by a suitable algebraic gauge group. We show that the natural notion of GIT-stability for graded modules reproduces stability for sheaves.
The paper is concerned with cohomology of the small quantum group at a root of unity, and of its upper triangular subalgebra, with coefficients in a tilting module. We relate it to a certain t-structure on the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on the Springer resolution, and to equivariant coherent IC sheaves on the nil-cone. The support of these cohomology is described in terms of cells in affine Weyl groups, and the basis in the Grothendieck group they provide is related to the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis, as predicted by J. Humphreys and V. Ostrik. The proof is based on earlier res…
In this paper we deal with semistable sheaves which can be represented as the cokernel of an injective (or as the kernel of a surjective) morphism $E_1\otimes\CC^m\longrightarrow E_2\otimes\CC^n$ , where $E_1$ and $E_2$ are exceptional bundles. To each such a sheaf we assign the linear map $\CC^m\otimes\hom^*(E_1,E_2)\longrightarrow \CC^n$. We obtain sufficient conditions on the topological invariants of the sheaves for the moduli space of the sheaves to be isomorphic to the quotient of an open subset in $\PP{\cal L}(\CC^m\otimes\hom^*(E_1,E_2),\CC^n)$ under the action of SL$(\CC^m)\times$SL$(…
For a stratified topological space we introduce the category of IC-modules, which are linear algebra devices with the relations described by the equation d^2=0. We prove that the category of (mixed) IC-modules is equivalent to the category of (mixed) perverse sheaves for flag varieties. As an application, we describe an algorithm calculating the quiver underlying the BGG category O for arbitrary simple Lie algebra, thus answering a question which goes back to I. M. Gelfand.
Stacks were introduced by Grothendieck and Giraud and are, roughly speaking, sheaves of categories. Kashiwara developed the theory of twisted modules, which are objects of stacks locally equivalent to stacks of modules over sheaves of rings. In this paper we recall these notions, and we develop the formalism of operations for stacks of twisted modules. As an application, we state a twisted version of an adjunction formula which is of use in the theory of integral transforms for sheaves and D-modules.
We describe a noncommutative deformation theory for presheaves and sheaves of modules that generalizes the commutative deformation theory of these global algebraic structures, and the noncommutative deformation theory of modules over algebras due to Laudal. In the first part of the paper, we describe a noncommutative deformation functor for presheaves of modules on a small category, and an obstruction theory for this functor in terms of global Hochschild cohomology. An important feature of this obstruction theory is that it can be computed in concrete terms in many interesting cases. In the la…
Real blow-ups and more refined "zooms" play a key role in the analysis of singularities of complex-analytic differential modules. They do not change the underlying topology, but the uniform structure. This suggests to revisit the cohomology theory of differential modules with help of a suitable new notion of uniform sheaves based on the uniformity rather than the topology. We also investigate the $p$-adic situation (in particular, an analog of real blow-ups) from this uniform viewpoint.
Let X be a projective scheme; let M and N be two coherent O_X-modules. Given an integer m, we present an algorithm for computing the global extension module Ext^m(X;M,N). In particular, this allows one to compute the sheaf cohomology H^m(X,N) and to construct the sheaf corresponding to an element of the module Ext^1(X;M,N). This algorithm can be implemented using only the computation of Grobner bases ans syzygies, and it has been implemented in the computer algebra system Macaulay2.
A. D'Agnolo and M. Kashiwara proved that their enhanced solution functor induces a fully faithful embedding of the triangulated category of holonomic D-modules into the one of R-constructible enhanced ind-sheaves. In this paper, we define C-constructible enhanced ind-sheaves and show that the triangulated category of them is equivalent to its essential image. Moreover we show that there exists a t-structure on it whose heart is equivalent to the abelian category of holonomic D-modules.
We classify coherent modules on $k[x,y]$ of length at most $4$ and supported at the origin. We compare our calculation with the motivic class of the moduli stack parametrizing such modules, extracted from the Feit-Fine formula. We observe that the natural torus action on this stack has finitely many fixed points, corresponding to connected skew Ferrers diagrams.
We study the singularities of algebraic difference equations on curves from the point of view of equivariant sheaves. We propose a definition for the formal local type of an equivariant sheaf at a point in the case of a reduced curve acted on by a group which is virtually the integers. We show that with this definition, equivariant sheaves can be glued from an "open cover". Precisely, we show that an equivariant sheaf can be uniquely recovered from the following data: the restriction to the complement of a point, the local type at the point itself, and an isomorphism between the two over the p…
We prove that on a nonsingular quadric hypersurface Q in $P^4_k$ even CI liaison classes of ACM curves are in bijective correspondence with the stable equivalence classes (up to shift in degree) of maximal Cohen-Macaulay graded modules over the coordinate ring R of Q, which in turn, are in bijective correspondence with stable equivalence classes (up to shift in degree) of ACM sheaves on Q . In the situation of a nonsingular quadric hypersurface Q in $P^4_k$ work of Knorrer shows that there is a unique nonfree indecomposable MCM module over R. We also describe the ACM sheaf corresponding to thi…
Let $X$ be a complex manifold. In "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity", M. Kashiwara e P. Schapira made the conjecture that a holonomic D-module $\shm$ is regular holonomic if and only if $R\mathcal{I}{hom}_{β_X\shd_X}(β_X\shm,\sho_X^t)$ is regular (in the sense of "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity"), the "only if" part of this conjecture following immediately from "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity". Our aim is to prove this conjecture in dimension one.
We study torsion free sheaves on integral projective curves with at most ordinary cusps as singularities. Adjusting Seshadri's structure from the nodal case to this one, we describe these sheaves by means of a triple defined in the normalization of the curve.
Let X be a projective irreducible smooth algebraic variety. A "fine moduli space" of sheaves on X is a family F of coherent sheaves on X parametrized by an integral variety M such that : F is flat on M; for all distinct points x, y of M the sheaves F_x, F_y on X are not isomorphic and F is a complete deformation of F_x; F has an obvious local universal property. We define also a "fine moduli space defined locally", where F is replaced by a family (F_i), where F_i is defined on an open subset U_i of M, the U_i covering M. This paper is devoted to the study of such fine moduli spaces. We first g…
A construction of braid group actions on coherent sheaves using mixed Hodge modules and some well known constructions from geometric representation theory is given.
Let M be a smooth and compact moduli space of stable coherent sheaves on a projective surface S with an effective (or trivial) anti-canonical line bundle. We find generators for the cohomology ring of M, with integral coefficients. When S is simply connected and a universal sheaf E exists over SxM, then its class [E] admits a Kunneth decomposition as a class in the tensor product of the topological K-rings K(S) and K(M). The generators are the Chern classes of the Kunneth factors of [E] in K(M). The general case is similar
We study equivariant sheaves over profinite spaces, where the group is also taken to be profinite. We resolve a serious deficit in the existing theory by constructing a good notion of equivariant presheaves, with a suitable equivariant sheafification functor. Using equivariant sheafification, we develop the general theory of equivariant sheaves of modules over a ring, give explicit constructions of infinite products and introduce an equivariant analogue of skyscraper sheaves. These results underlie recent work by the authors which proves that there is an algebraic model for rational G-spectra …
We consider coherent and cohesive sheaves of $\cO$--modules over open sets $Ω\subset\bC^n$. We prove that coherent sheaves, and certain other sheaves derived from them, are cohesive; and conversely, certain sheaves derived from cohesive sheaves are coherent. An important tool in all this, also proved here, is that the sheaf of Banach space valued holomorphic germs is flat.
We develop a theory of perverse sheaves on the semi-infinite flag manifold $G((t))/N((t))\cdot T[[t]]$, and show that the subcategory of Iwahori-monodromy perverse sheaves is equivalent to the regular block of the category of representations of the small quantum group at an even root of unity.
The Fourier-Mukai transform is lifted to the derived category of sheaves with connection on abelian varieties. The case of flat connections (D-modules) is discussed in detail.
We classify all Gieseker semi-stable sheaves on the complex projective plane that have dimension 1, multiplicity 6 and Euler characteristic 3. We show that their moduli space is birational to the blow-up at a special point of a certain moduli space of semi-stable Kronecker modules.
Let X be the toric scheme over a ring R associated with a fan Sigma. It is shown that there are a group B, a B-graded R-algebra S and a graded ideal I of S such that there is an essentially surjective, exact functor ~ from the category of B-graded S-modules to the category of quasicoherent O_X-modules that vanishes on I-torsion modules and that induces for every B-graded S-module F a surjection Xi_F from the set of I-saturated graded sub-S-modules of F onto the set of quasicoherent sub-O_X-modules of ~F. If Sigma is simplicial, the above data can be chosen such that ~ vanishes precisely on I-t…
We describe the complex of solutions of the algebraic Mellin transform of a $\mathcal{D}$-module $\mathcal{M}$ in terms of the solutions of $\mathcal{M}$. In order to do that, we define a Mellin functor on sheaves. We show the Mellin transform of the complex of rapid decay solutions of a regular holonomic $\mathcal{D}$-module $\mathcal{M}$ is quasi-isomorphic to the complex of solutions of the algebraic Mellin transform of $\mathcal{M}$, the assumption of regularity not being necessary in the one variable case.
These three lectures present some fundamental and classical aspects of microlocal analysis. Starting with the Sato's microlocalization functor and the microsupport of sheaves, we then construct a microlocal analogue of the Hochschild homology for sheaves and apply it to recover index theorems for D-modules and elliptic pairs. In the third lecture, we construct the ind-sheaves of temperate and Whitney holomorphic functions and give some applications to the study of irregular holonomic D-modules.
Using the concept of a cohesive module defined by Block, we use the theory of superconnections in the sense of Quillen to construct natural superconnections on Hermitian cohesive modules. By the Chern-Weil construction, we obtain characteristic classes with values in Bott-Chern cohomology which refines the usual deRham cohomology. The main result of this paper shows that such characteristic classes are independent of the Hermitian metric and only dependent on the homotopy class of the cohesive module in the homotopy category. This extends the Bott-Chern cohomology to the bounded derived catego…
