In this work we study the equation $(E) \ddot x + f(x) \dot x^2 + g(x) = 0$ with a center at 0 and investigate conditions of its isochronicity. When $f$ and $g$ are analytic (not necessary odd) a necessary and sufficient condition for the isochronicity of 0 is given. This approach allows us to present an algorithm for obtained conditions for a point of (E) to be an isochronous center. In particular, we find again by another way the isochrones of the quadratic Loud systems $(L_{D,F})$. Some classes of Kukles are also considered. Moreover, we classify a 5-parameters family of reversible cubic systems with isochronous centers.

An oscillator is called isochronous if all motions have a common period. When the system is forced by a time-dependent perturbation with the same period the dynamics may change and the phenomenon of resonance can appear. In this context, resonance means that all solutions are unbounded. The theory of resonance is well known for the harmonic oscillator and we extend it to nonlinear isochronous oscillators.
The isochronicity problem is a classical problem in the qualitative theory of planar vector fields which consists in characterizing whether a center is isochronous or not, that is, if all the trajectories in a neighbourhood of the center have the same period. This problem is usually investigated by means of the so-called period function. In this paper, we are interested in exploring the isochronicity problem for tangential centers of planar Filippov vector fields. By computing the period function for planar Filippov vector fields around tangential centers, we show that such centers are never i…
The aim of this paper is to give a sufficient and necessary condition of the generalized polynomial Liénard system with a global center (including linear typer and nilpotent type). Recently, Llibre and Valls [J. Differential Equations, 330 (2022), 66-80] gave a sufficient and necessary condition of the generalized polynomial Liénard system with a linear type global center. It is easy to see that our sufficient and necessary condition is more easy by comparison. In particular, we provide the explicit expressions of all the generalized polynomial Liénard differential systems of degree 5 having a…
Using the mould formalism introduced by Jean Ecalle, we define and study the geometric complexity of an isochronous center condition. The role played by several Lie ideals is discussed coming from the interplay between the universal mould of the correction and the different Lie algebras generated by the comoulds. This strategy enters in the general program proposed by J. Ecalle and D. Schlomiuk in \cite{es} to study the size and splitting of some Lie ideals for the linearisability problem.
In this paper, we study the integrability and linearization of a class of quadratic quasi-analytic switching systems. We improve an existing method to compute the focus values and periodic constants of quasi-analytic switching systems. In particular, with our method, we demonstrate that the dynamical behaviors of quasi-analytic switching systems are more complex than that of continuous quasi-analytic systems, by showing the existence of six and seven limit cycles in the neighborhood of the origin and infinity, respectively, in a quadratic quasi-analytic switching system. Moreover, explicit con…
These last years an increasing interest appeared for studying the planar discontinuous piecewise differential systems motivated by the rich applications in modelling real phenomena. One of the difficulties for understanding the dynamics of these systems is the study their limit cycles. In this paper we study the maximum number of crossing limit cycles of some classes of planar discontinuous piecewise differential systems separated by a straight line, and formed by combinations of linear centers (consequently isochronous) and cubic isochronous centers with homogeneous nonlinearities. For these …
We study the conjecture of Jarque and Villadelprat stating that every center of a planar polynomial Hamiltonian system of even degree is nonisochronous. This conjecture is proved for quadratic and quartic systems. Using the correction of a vector field to characterize isochronicity and explicit computations of this quantity for polynomial vector fields, wa are able to describe a very large class of nonisochronous Hamiltonian system of even degree of degree arbitrary large.
Let $X$ be a polynomial vector field in $\mathbb{R}^2$ which, after one-point compactification of the plane, has a punctured neighbourhood $\dot U$ of the point at infinity which is foliated by closed orbits of $X$. If the period function of $X$ in $\dot U$ is bounded from below by a positive constant, $X$ is necessarily linear, hence conjugated, up to a nonzero constant factor, to $-y \frac{\partial}{\partial x} + x \frac{\partial}{\partial y}$. This result answers to a question posed by J. Llibre , proving e.g. that a global isochronous center is linear.
In this paper we investigate the isochronicity and linearizability problem for a cubic polynomial differential system which can be considered as a generalization of the Riccati system. Conditions for isochronicity and linearizability are found. The global structure of systems of the family with an isochronous center is determined. Furthermore, we find the order of weak center and study the problem of local bifurcation of critical periods in a neighborhood of the center.
