Let X be a compact manifold with boundary and let L^k be a high power of a hermitian holomorphic line bundle over X. When X has no boundary, Demailly's holomorphic Morse inequalities give asymptotic bounds on the dimensions on the Dolbeault cohomology groups with values in L^k. We extend Demailly's inequalities to the case when X has a boundary by adding a boundary term expressed as a certain average of the curvature of the line bundle and the Levi curvature of the boundary. Examples are given that show that the inequalities are sharp and it is shown that they are compatible with hole filling. The most interesting case is when X is a pseudoconcave manifold with a positive line bundle L. If the curvature of L is conformally equivalent to the Levi curvature of the boundary, the Morse inequalities are shown to be equalities, so that the space of global sections of L have maximal asymptotic growth, i.e. L is big. The sharp examples show that the corresponding cohomology group of (0,1)-forms may have maximal asymptotic growth, as well, unless the conformal equivalence holds.
Let $X$ be a compact connected CR manifold of dimension $2n-1, n\geq 2$ with a transversal CR $S^1$-action on $X$. We study the Fourier components of the Kohn-Rossi cohomology with respect to the $S^1$-action. By studying the Szegö kernel of the Fourier components we establish the Morse inequalities on $X$. Using the Morse inequalities we have established on $X$ we prove that there are abundant CR functions on $X$ when $X$ is weakly pseudoconvex and strongly pseudoconvex at a point.
Transcendental holomorphic Morse inequalities aim at characterizing the positivity of transcendental cohomology classes of type $(1,1)$. In this paper, we prove a weak version of Demailly's conjecture on transcendental Morse inequalities on compact Kähler manifolds. And as a consequence, we partially improve a result of Boucksom-Demailly-Paun-Peternell.
Let $X$ be a compact connected CR manifold of dimension $2n+1, n \geq 1$. Let $\widetilde{X}$ be a paracompact CR manifold with a transversal CR $S^1$-action, such that there is a discrete group $Γ$ acting freely on $\widetilde{X}$ having $X \, = \, \widetilde{X}/Γ$. Based on an asymptotic formula for the Fourier components of the heat kernel with respect to the $S^1$-action, we establish the Morse inequalities for Fourier components of reduced $L^2$-Kohn-Rossi cohomology with values in a rigid CR vector bundle over $\widetilde{X}$. As a corollary, we obtain the Morse inequalities for Fourier …
We give a fully algebraic proof of an important theorem of Demailly, stating the existence of many Green-Griffiths jet differentials on a complex projective manifold of general type. To this end, we introduce a new algebraic version of the Morse inequalities, which we then use in our proof as an algebraic counterpart to Demailly's and Bonavero's holomorphic Morse inequalities.
Let $(X,ω)$ be a Hermitian manifold and let $(E,h^E)$, $(F,h^F)$ be two Hermitian holomorphic line bundle over $X$. Suppose that the maximal rank of the Chern curvature $c(E)$ of $E$ is $r$, and the kernel of $c(E)$ is foliated, i.e. there is a foliation $Y$ of $X$, of complex codimension $r$, such that the tangent space of the leaf at each point $x\in X$ is contained in the kernel of $c(E)$. In this paper, local versions of Demailly-Bouche's holomorphic Morse inequalities (which give asymptotic bounds for cohomology groups $H^{q}(X,E^k\otimes F^l)$ as $k,l,k/l\rightarrow \infty$) are presente…
Let $X$ be a compact connected CR manifold of dimension $2n-1, n\geq 2$. We assume that there is a transversal CR locally free $S^1$ action on $X$. Let $L^k$ be the $k$-th power of a rigid CR line bundle $L$ over $X$. Without any assumption on the Levi-form of $X$, we obtain a scaling upper-bound for the partial Szegő kernel on $(0,q)$-forms with values in $L^k$. After integration, this gives the weak Morse inequalities. By a refined spectral analysis, we also obtain the strong Morse inequalities in CR setting. We apply the strong Morse inequalities to show that the Grauert-Riemenschneider cri…
Let $X$ be a compact complex, not necessarily Kähler, manifold of dimension $n$. We characterise the volume of any holomorphic line bundle $L\to X$ as the supremum of the Monge-Ampère masses $\int_X T_{ac}^n$ over all closed positive currents $T$ in the first Chern class of $L$, where $T_{ac}$ is the absolutely continuous part in the Lebesgue decomposition. This result, new in the non-Kähler context, can be seen as holomorphic Morse inequalities for the cohomology of high tensor powers of line bundles endowed with arbitrarily singular Hermitian metrics. It gives, in particular, a new bigness c…
We provide detailed holomorphic Morse estimates for the cohomology of sheaves of jet differentials and their dual sheaves. These estimates apply on arbitrary directed varieties, and a special attention has been given to the analysis of the singular situation. As a consequence, we obtain existence results for global jet differentials and global differential operators under positivity conditions for the canonical or anticanonical sheaf of the directedstructure.
We view Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology H^{p,q}_η(X) as the cohomology of the sheaf Ω_{X,η}^p of η-holomorphic p-forms and give several bimeromorphic invariants. Analogue to Dolbeault cohomology, we establish the Leray-Hirsch theorem and the blow-up formula for Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology. At last, we consider the relations between Morse-Novikov cohomology and Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology, moreover, investigate stabilities of their dimensions under the deformations of complex structures. In some aspects, Morse-Novikov and Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology behave similarly with…
For functions $p(z) = 1 + \sum_{n=1}^\infty p_n z^n$ holomorphic in the unit disk, satisfying $ {\rm Re}\, p(z) > 0$, we generalize two inequalities proved by Livingston in 1969 and 1985, and simplify their proofs. One of our results states that $|p_n -w p_k p_{n-k}|\leq 2\max\{1, |1-2w|\}, w\in\mathbb{C}$. Another result involves certain determinants whose entries are the coefficients $p_n$. Both results are sharp. As applications we provide a simple proof of a theorem of J.E. Brown and various inequalities for the coefficients of holomorphic self-maps of the unit disk.
The purpose of this paper is to develop some methods to study Riesz type inequalities, Hardy-Littlewood type theorems and smooth moduli of holomorphic, pluriharmonic and harmonic functions in high-dimensional cases. Initially, we prove some sharp Riesz type inequalities of pluriharmonic functions on bounded symmetric domains. The obtained results extend the main results in (\textit{Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.} {\bf 372} (2019)~ 4031--4051). Furthermore, some Hardy-Littlewood type theorems of holomorphic and pluriharmonic functions on John domains are established. Additionally, we also discuss the …
Answering a question of Lindholm, we prove strict density inequalities for sampling and interpolation in Fock spaces of entire functions in several complex variables defined by a plurisubharmonic weight. In particular, these spaces do not admit a set that is simultaneously sampling and interpolating. To prove optimality of the density conditions, we construct sampling sets with a density arbitrarily close to the critical density. The techniques combine methods from several complex variables (estimates for $\bar \partial$) and the theory of localized frames in general reproducing kernel Hilbert…
This paper studies first the differential inequalities that make it possible to build a global theory of pseudo-holomorphic functions in the case of one or several complex variables. In the case of one complex dimension, we prove that the differential inequalities describing pseudo-holomorphic functions can be used to define a one-real-dimensional manifold (by the vanishing of a function with nonzero gradient), which is here a 1-parameter family of plane curves. On studying the associated envelopes, such a parameter can be eliminated by solving two nonlinear partial differential equations. The…
Morse-Novikov cohomology of locally conformally Kähler manifolds
Our goal in this work is to develop aspects of Bialynicki-Birula and Morse-Bott theory that can be extended from the classical setting of smooth manifolds to that of complex analytic spaces with a holomorphic $\mathbb{C}^*$ action. We extend prior results on existence of Bialynicki-Birula decompositions for compact, complex Kähler manifolds to non-compact complex manifolds and develop functorial properties of the Bialynicki-Birula decomposition, in particular with respect to blowup along a $\mathbb{C}^*$-invariant, embedded complex submanifold. We deduce the existence of a Bialynicki-Birula de…
Let $X$ be an abstract orientable not necessarily compact CR manifold of dimension $2n+1$, $n\geq1$, and let $L^k$ be the $k$-th tensor power of a CR complex line bundle $L$ over $X$. Suppose that condition $Y(q)$ holds at each point of $X$, we establish asymptotics of the heat kernel of Kohn Laplacian with values in $L^k$. As an application, we give a heat kernel proof of Morse inequalities on compact CR manifolds. When $X$ admits a transversal CR $\mathbb R$-action, we also establish asymptotics of the $\mathbb R$-equivariant heat kernel of Kohn Laplacian with values in $L^k$. As an applicat…
