We use the injective envelope to study quasimultipliers of operator spaces. We prove that all representable operator algebra products that an operator space can be endowed with are induced by quasimultipliers. We obtain generalizations of the Banach-Stone theorem.
We show that there is an operator space notion of Lipschitz embeddability between operator spaces which is strictly weaker than its linear counterpart but which is still strong enough to impose linear restrictions on operator space structures. This shows that there is a nontrivial theory of nonlinear geometry for operator spaces and it answers a question in [BCD21]. For that, we introduce the operator space version of Lipschitz-free Banach spaces and prove several properties of it. In particular, we show that separable operator spaces satisfy a sort of isometric Lipschitz-lifting property in t…
We introduce unbounded multipliers on operator spaces. These multipliers generalize both, regular operators on Hilbert C*-modules and (bounded) multipliers on operator spaces.
We provide an operator space version of Maurey's factorization theorem. The main tool is an embedding result of independent interest. Applications for operator spaces and noncommutative Lp spaces are included.
The nonlinear geometry of operator spaces has recently started to be investigated. Many notions of nonlinear embeddability have been introduced so far, but, as noticed before by other authors, it was not clear whether they could be considered ``correct notions''. The main goal of these notes is to provide the missing evidence to support that \emph{almost complete coarse embeddability} is ``a correct notion''. This is done by proving results about the complete isomorphic theory of $\ell_1$-sums of certain operators spaces. Several results on the complete isomorphic theory of $c_0$-sums of opera…
We construct nontrivial examples of weak-$C_p$ ($1\leq p \leq \infty$) operator spaces with the local operator space structure very close to $C_p = [R, C]_{\frac{1}{p}}$. These examples are non-homogeneous Hilbertian operator spaces, and their constructions are similar to that of 2-convexified Tsirelson's space by W. B. Johnson.
We prove a version of Holder's inequality with a constant for p-th roots of symmetric operator spaces of operators affiliated to a semifinite von Neumann algebra factor, and with constant equal to 1 for strongly symmetric operator spaces.
We extend some inequalities for normal matrices and positive linear maps related to the Russo-Dye theorem. The results cover the case of some positive linear maps on a von Neumann algebra mapping any nonzero operator to an unbounded operator.
In this work we study the following three space problem for operator spaces: if X is an operator space with base space isomorphic to a Hilbert space and X contains a completely isomorphic copy of the operator Hilbert space OH with respective quotient also completely isomorphic to OH, must X be completely isomorphic to OH? This problem leads us to the study of short exact sequences of operator spaces, more specifically those induced by complex interpolation, and their splitting. We show that the answer to the three space problem is negative, giving two different solutions.
In this paper we study the product of Toeplitz operators on the harmonic Bergman space of the unit disk of the complex plane C. Mainly, we discuss when the product of two quasihomogeneous Toeplitz operators is also a Toeplitz operator, and when such operators commute.
Boundedness and compactness properties of multiplication operators on quantum (non-commutative) function spaces are investigated. For endomorphic multiplication operators these properties can be characterized in the setting of quantum symmetric spaces. For non-endomorphic multiplication operators these properties can be completely characterized in the setting of quantum $L^p$-spaces and a partial solution obtained in the more general setting of quantum Orlicz spaces.
This paper is devoted to the study of operator-valued Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. We develop some Fourier multiplier theorems for square functions as our main tool, and then study the operator-valued Triebel-Lizorkin spaces on $\mathbb{R}^d$. As in the classical case, we connect these spaces with operator-valued local Hardy spaces via Bessel potentials. We show the lifting theorem, and get interpolation results for these spaces. We obtain Littlewood-Paley type, as well as the Lusin type square function characterizations in the general way. Finally, we establish smooth atomic decompositions for th…
We consider two operator space versions of type and cotype, namely $S_p$-type, $S_q$-cotype and type $(p,H)$, cotype $(q,H)$ for a homogeneous Hilbertian operator space $H$ and $1\leq p \leq 2 \leq q\leq \infty$, generalizing "$OH$-cotype 2" of G. Pisier. We compute type and cotype of some Hilbertian operator spaces and $L_p$ spaces, and we investigate the relationship between a homogeneous Hilbertian space $H$ and operator spaces with cotype $(2,H)$. As applications we consider operator space versions of generalized little Grothendieck's theorem and Maurey's extension theorem in terms of thes…
In this note, we consider the smallest submaximal space structure μ(X) on a Banach space X. We derive a characterization of μ(X) up to complete isometric isomorphism in terms of a universal property. Also, we show that an injective Banach space has a unique submaximal space structure and we explore some duality relations of μ-spaces. Key Words: operator spaces, maximal operator spaces, submaximal spaces, μ- spaces.
We prove that an operator space is completely isometric to a ternary ring of operators if and only if the open unit balls of all of its matrix spaces are bounded symmetric domains. From this we obtain an operator space characterization of C*-algebras.
In this short note, we propose a concrete analogue of the space $\cL(H)$ for local operator spaces, the multinormed $C^*$-algebra $\displaystyle\prod_α \cL(H_α)$.
We generalize an important class of Banach spaces, namely the $M$-embedded Banach spaces, to the non-commutative setting of operator spaces. The one-sided $M$-embedded operator spaces are the operator spaces which are one-sided $M$-ideals in their second dual. We show that several properties from the classical setting, like the stability under taking subspaces and quotients, unique extension property, Radon Nikod$\acute {\rm{y}}$m Property and many more, are retained in the non-commutative setting. We also discuss the dual setting of one-sided $L$-embedded operator spaces.
We establish a relationship between Schreiner's matrix regular operator space and Werner's (nonunital) operator system. For a matrix ordered operator space $V$ with complete norm, we show that $V$ is completely isomorphic and complete order isomorphic to a matrix regular operator space if and only if both $V$ and its dual space $V^*$ are (nonunital) operator systems.
These notes have the intent to introduce the study of the nonlinear aspects of operator space theory. We investigate some results on the nonlinear theory of Banach spaces which remain valid in the noncommutative case. In particular, we show that Ribe's theorem has a complete analog to preduals of von Neumann algebras and introduce the concept of the Lipschitz free operator space of an operator space. We use those to prove results about injective von Neumann algebras, Pisier's operator space OH, and the existence of complete linear isometric embeddings between operator spaces.
Given a Banach space $X$, there are many operator space structures possible on $X$, which all have $X$ as their first matrix level. Blecher and Paulsen identified two extreme operator space structures on $X$, namely $Min(X)$ and $Max(X)$ which represents respectively, the smallest and the largest operator space structures admissible on $X$. In this note, we consider the subspace and the quotient space structure of minimal and maximal operator spaces.
We give some new characterizations of unitaries, isometries, unital operator spaces, unital function spaces, operator systems, C*-algebras, and related objects. These characterizations only employ the vector space and operator space structure.
We introduce the notion of $Δ$ and $σ\,Δ-$ pairs for operator algebras and characterise $Δ-$ pairs through their categories of left operator modules over these algebras. Furthermore, we introduce the notion of $Δ$-Morita equivalent operator spaces and prove a similar theorem about their algebraic extensions. We prove that $σΔ$-Morita equivalent operator spaces are stably isomorphic and vice versa. Finally, we study unital operator spaces, emphasising their left (resp. right) multiplier algebras, and prove theorems that refer to $Δ$-Morita equivalence of their algebraic extensions.
Conditions $C$, $C'$, and $C"$ were introduced for operator spaces in an attempt to study local reflexivity and exactness of operator spaces (Effros and Ruan, 2000). For example, it is known that an operator space $W$ is locally reflexive if and only if $W$ satisfies condition $C"$ (Effros and Ruan, 2000) and an operator space $V$ is exact if and only if $V$ satisfies condition $C'$ (Effros and Ruan, 2000). It is also known that an operator space $V$ satisfies condition $C$ if and only if it satisfies conditions $C'$ and $C"$ (Effros and Ruan, 2000, and Han, 2007). In this paper, we define $p$…
We introduce a numerical radius operator space $(X, \mathcal{W}_n)$. The conditions to be a numerical radius operator space are weaker than the Ruan's axiom for an operator space $(X, \mathcal{O}_n)$. Let $w(\cdot)$ be the numerical radius norm on $\mathbb{B}(\mathcal{H})$. It is shown that if $X$ admits a norm $\mathcal{W}_n(\cdot)$ on the matrix space $\mathbb{M}_n(X)$ which satisfies the conditions, then there is a complete isometry, in the sense of the norms $\mathcal{W}_n(\cdot)$ and $w_n(\cdot)$, from $(X, \mathcal{W}_n)$ into $(\mathbb{B}(\mathcal{H}), w_n)$. We study the relationship b…
We characterize weak* closed unital vector spaces of operators on a Hilbert space $H$. More precisely, we first show that an operator system, which is the dual of an operator space, can be represented completely isometrically and weak* homeomorphically as a weak* closed operator subsystem of $B(H)$. An analogous result is proved for unital operator spaces. Finally, we give some somewhat surprising examples of dual unital operator spaces.
We introduce weighted cb maps and $Λ_μ$-cb maps on operator spaces which are generalizations of completely bounded maps and a certain class of bilinear maps on operator spaces which we call $λ_μ$-cb bilinear maps. Some basic properties of these maps and an operator space tensor product associated to $λ_μ$-cb bilinear maps have been studied.
We extend the $λ$-theory of operator spaces given by Defant and Wiesner (2014), that generalizes the notion of the projective, Haagerup and Schur tensor norm for operator spaces to matrix ordered spaces and Banach $*$-algebras. Given matrix regular operator spaces and operator systems, we introduce cones related to $λ$ for the algebraic tensor product that respect the matricial structure of matrix regular operator spaces and operator systems, respectively. The ideal structure of $λ$-tensor product of $C^*$-algebras has also been discussed.
The Gurarij operator space $\mathbb{NG}$ introduced by Oikhberg is the unique separable $1$-exact operator space that is approximately injective in the category of $1$-exact operator spaces and completely isometric linear maps. We prove that a separable operator space $X$ is nuclear if and only if there exist a linear complete isometry $φ:X\rightarrow \mathbb{NG}$ and a completely contractive projection from $\mathbb{NG}$ onto the range of $φ$. This can be seen as the operator space analog of Kirchberg's nuclear embedding theorem. We also establish the natural operator system analog of Kirchbe…
Resolvents of quasi-linear operators and operator algebras in Banach spaces over the quaternion field are investigated. Spectral theory of unbounded nonlinear operators in quaternion Banach spaces is studied. Strongly continuous semigroups of quaternion quasi-linear operators are investigated and the polar decomposition theorem for them is proved.
