By utilizing known theorems, and calculating the order of vanishing, we can compute the eta-quotients for a given level. Using this count, knowing how many eta-quotients are linearly independent and using the dimension formula, we can figure out a subspace spanned by the eta-quotients. The results of the computer investigation of the sign changes of the difference between the number of twin primes $π_2(x)$ and the Hardy--Littlewood conjecture $C_2\Li_2(x)$ are reported. It turns out that $d_2(x)=π_2(x) - C_2\Li_2(x)$ changes the sign at unexpectedly low values of $x$ and for $x<2^{48}=2.81\...\times10^{14}$ there are 477118 sign changes of this difference. We prove several results regarding the distribution of numbers that are the product of a prime and a $k$-th power. First, we prove an asymptotic formula for the counting function of such numbers; this generalises a result of E. Cohen. We then show that the error term in this formula can be sharpened on the assumption of the Riemann hypothesis. Finally, we prove an asymptotic formula for these counting functions in short intervals.
