Let $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)^{\geq 0}$ denote the Borel subalgebra of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$. We show that the following hold for any choice of scalars $ε_0, ε_1$ from the set ${1,-1}$.
(i) Let $V$ be a finite-dimensional irreducible $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)^{\geq 0}$-module of type $(ε_0,ε_1)$. Then the action of $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)^{\geq 0}$ on $V$ extends uniquely to an action of $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$ on $V$. The resulting $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$-module structure on $V$ is irreducible and of type $(ε_0,ε_1)$.
(ii) Let $V$ be a finite-dimensional irreducible $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$-module of type $(ε_0,ε_1)$. When the $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$-action is restricted to $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)^{\geq 0}$, the resulting $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)^{\geq 0}$-module structure on $V$ is irreducible and of type $(ε_0,ε_1)$.
We prove a bijection between finite-dimensional irreducible modules for an arbitrary quantum affine algebra $U_q(g)$ and finite-dimensional irreducible modules for its Borel subalgebra $U_q(g)^{\geq 0}$.
We construct a family of right coideal subalgebras of quantum groups, which have the property that all irreducible representations are one-dimensional, and which are maximal with this property. The obvious examples for this are the standard Borel subalgebras expected from Lie theory, but in a quantum group there are many more. Constructing and classifying them is interesting for structural reasons, and because they lead to unfamiliar induced (Verma-)modules for the quantum group. The explicit family we construct in this article consists of quantum Weyl algebras combined with parts of a standar…
A well-known Peterson's theorem says that the number of abelian ideals in a Borel subalgebra of a rank-$r$ finite dimensional simple Lie algebra is exactly $2^r$. In this paper, we determine the dimensional distribution of abelian ideals in a Borel subalgebra of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras, which is a refinement of the Peterson's theorem capturing more Lie algebra invariants.
In our previous work, we studied the positive representations of split real quantum groups $\mathcal{U}_{q\tilde{q}}(\mathfrak{g}_\mathbb{R})$ restricted to its Borel part, and showed that they are closed under taking tensor products. However, the tensor product decomposition was only constructed abstractly using the GNS-representation of a $C^*$-algebraic version of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum groups. In this paper, using the recently discovered cluster realization of quantum groups, we write down the decomposition explicitly by realizing it as a sequence of cluster mutations in the correspond…
For the Borel part of a quantized enveloping algebra we classify all right coideal subalgebras for which the intersection with the coradical is a Hopf algebra. The result is expressed in terms of characters of the subalgebras $U^+[w]$ of the quantized enveloping algebra, introduced by de Concini, Kac, and Procesi for any Weyl group element $w$. We explicitly determine all characters of $U^+[w]$ building on recent work by Yakimov on prime ideals of $U^+[w]$ which are invariant under a torus action. Key words: Quantum groups, coideal subalgebras
We give a construction of Drienfeld's quantum double for a nonstandard deformation of Borel subalgebra of $sl(2)$. We construct explicitly some simple representations of this quantum algebra and from the universal R-matrix we obtain the explicit solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation in those cases.
In this paper we describe the right coideal subalgebras containing all group-like elements of the multiparameter quantum group Uq+(g), where g is a simple Lie algebra of type G2, while the main parameter of quantization q is not a root of 1. If the multiplicative order t of q is finite, t>4, t different from 6, then the same classification remains valid for homogeneous right coideal subalgebras of the positive part uq+(g) of the multiparameter version of the small Lusztig quantum group.
Let $\mathcal{O}$ be the category of representations of the Borel subalgebra of a quantum affine algebra introduced by Jimbo and the first author. We show that the Grothendieck ring of a certain monoidal subcategory of $\mathcal{O}$ has the structure of a cluster algebra of infinite rank, with an initial seed consisting of prefundamental representations. In particular, the celebrated Baxter relations for the 6-vertex model get interpreted as Fomin-Zelevinsky mutation relations.
We provide an alternative approach to the Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan presentation of the quantum group U_q(g), with L-operators as generators and relations ruled by an R-matrix. We look at U_q(g) as being generated by the quantum Borel subalgebras U_q(b_+) and U_q(b_-), and we use the standard presentation of the latters as quantum function algebras. When g = gl(n) these Borel quantum function algebras are generated by the entries of a triangular q-matrix, thus eventually U_q(gl(n)) is generated by the entries of an upper triangular and a lower triangular q-matrix, which share the same diag…
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a Kac-Moody algebra. We show that every homogeneous right coideal subalgebra $U$ of the multiparameter version of the quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{g}),$ $q^m\neq 1$ containing all group-like elements has a triangular decomposition $U=U^-\otimes_{{\bf k}[F]} {\bf k}[H] \otimes_{{\bf k}[G]} U^+$, where $U^-$ and $ U^+$ are right coideal subalgebras of negative and positive quantum Borel subalgebras. However if $ U_1$ and $ U_2$ are arbitrary right coideal subalgebras of respectively positive and negative quantum Borel subalgebras, then the triangular…
Right coideal subalgebras are interesting substructures of Hopf algebras such as quantum groups. Examples of right coideal subalgebras are the quantum Borel part as well as quantum symmetric pairs. Classifying right coideal subalgebras is a difficult question with notable results by Schneider, Heckenberger and Kolb. After reviewing these results, as main result we prove that an arbitrary right coideal subalgebras has a particularly nice set of generators. This allows in principle to specify the set of right coideal subalgebras in a given case. As application we determine right coideal subalgeb…
We define two subalgebras which can be seen as the quantization of the coordinate rings of the unipotent radical of the standard positive (respectively negative) Borel subgroup of $SL_{n+1}$. We give a presentation for these algebras and show they are isomorphic. Moreover, we show that these algebras are the conivariants of a natural $O_q(T)$-coaction on $O_q(B^\pm)$. Finally, using a dual pairing, we show that these algebras are isomorphic to the quantum nilpotent Lie subalgebra of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$.
The following integrability theorem for vertex operator algebras V satisfying some finiteness conditions(C_2-cofinite and CFT-type) is proved: the vertex operator subalgebra generated by a simple Lie subalgebra {\frak g} of the weight one subspace V_1 is isomorphic to the irreducible highest weight \hat{\frak g}-module L(k, 0) for a positive integer k, and V is an integrable \hat{\frak g}-module. The case in which {\frak g} is replaced by an abelian Lie subalgebra is also considered, and several consequences of integrability are discussed.
Let $U_ζ$ be the quantum group (Lusztig form) associated to the simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, with parameter $ζ$ specialized to an $\ell$-th root of unity in a field of characteristic $p>0$. In this paper we study certain finite-dimensional normal Hopf subalgebras $U_ζ(G_r)$ of $U_ζ$, called Frobenius-Lusztig kernels, which generalize the Frobenius kernels $G_r$ of an algebraic group $G$. When $r=0$, the algebras studied here reduce to the small quantum group introduced by Lusztig. We classify the irreducible $U_ζ(G_r)$-modules and discuss their characters. We then study the cohomology ri…
We show that there are precisely two, up to conjugation, anti-involutions sigma_{\pm} of the algebra of differential operators on the circle preserving the principal gradation. We classify the irreducible quasifinite highest weight representations of the central extension \hat{D}^{\pm} of the Lie subalgebra of this algebra fixed by - sigma_{\pm}, and find the unitary ones. We realize them in terms of highest weight representations of the central extension of the Lie algebra of infinite matrices with finitely many non-zero diagonals over the truncated polynomial algebra C[u] / (u^{m+1}) and its…
A construction of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(g)$ is given in two steps. We explain how to obtain the algebra from its positive Borel subalgebra $U_q(b^+)$, using a construction similar to Drinfeld's quantum double. Then we show how the positive Borel subalgebra can be constructed with quantum shuffles.
We classify Drinfeld twists for the quantum Borel subalgebra u_q(b) in the Frobenius-Lusztig kernel u_q(g), where g is a simple Lie algebra over C and q an odd root of unity. More specifically, we show that alternating forms on the character group of the group of grouplikes for u_q(b) generate all twists for u_q(b), under a certain algebraic group action. This implies a simple classification of Hopf algebras whose categories of representations are tensor equivalent to that of u_q(b). We also show that cocycle twists for the corresponding De Concini-Kac algebra are in bijection with alternating…
The infinite affine Lie algebras of type ABCD, also called $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{o}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{sp}}(\infty)$, are equivalent to subalgebras of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ algebras. They have well-known representations on the Fock space of either a Dirac fermion ($\hat A_\infty$), a Majorana fermion ($\hat B_\infty$ and $\hat D_\infty$) or a symplectic boson ($\hat C_\infty$). Explicit formulas for the action of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ subalgebras on the Fock states are proposed for each representation. These formulas are the equivalent of …
Let ${U}_q(sl_2)$ be the quantized enveloping algebra associated to the simple Lie algebra $sl_2$. In this paper, we study the quantum double $D_q$ of the Borel subalgebra ${U}_q((sl_2)^{\leq 0})$ of ${U}_q(sl_2)$. We construct an analogue of Kostant--Lusztig ${Z}[v,v^{-1}]$-form for $D_q$ and show that it is a Hopf subalgebra. We prove that, over an algebraically closed field, every simple $D_q$-module is the pullback of a simple ${U}_q(sl_2)$-module through certain surjection from $D_q$ onto ${U}_q(sl_2)$, and the category of finite dimensional weight $D_q$-modules is equivalent to a direct …
For the Klein group $K$, $k\in\mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant 1}$ and $m\in\mathbb{Z}_{\geqslant 4}$, we study the representations of the orbifold vertex operator algebra $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$ and the commutant vertex operator algebra of $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(3,0)$ in $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(1,0)^{\otimes 3}$ which can be realized as the orbifold vertex operator subalgebra $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(2m,0)^{K}$ or its extension. All the irreducible modules for $L_{\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}(k,0)^{K}$ and $C_{{L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(1,0)}^{\otimes 3}}({L_{\hat{\mathfrak{so}_m}}(3,0)}…
We continue the development of the homological theory of quantum general linear groups previously considered by the first author. The development is used to transfer information to the representation theory of quantised Schur algebras. The acyclicity of induction from some rank-one modules for quantised Borel-Schur subalgebras is deduced. This is used to prove the exactness of the complexes recently constructed by Boltje and Maisch, giving resolutions of the co-Specht modules for Hecke algebras.
We compare the reduced Drinfeld doubles of the composition subalgebras of the category of representations of the Kronecker quiver $\overr{Q}$ and of the category of coherent sheaves on ${\mathbb P}^1$. Using this approach, we show that the Drinfeld--Beck isomorphism for the quantized enveloping algebra $U_v(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ is a corollary of an equivalence between the derived categories $D^b\bigl(\Rep(\overr{Q})\bigr)$ and $D^b\bigl(\Coh({\mathbb P}^1)\bigr)$. This technique also allows to reprove several technical results on the integral form of $U_v(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$.
For a quantized enveloping algebra of a complex semisimple Lie algebra with deformation parameter not a root of unity, we classify all homogeneous right coideal subalgebras. Any such right coideal subalgebra is determined uniquely by a triple consisting of two elements of the Weyl group and a subset of the set of simple roots satisfying some natural conditions. The essential ingredients of the proof are the Lusztig automorphisms and the classification of homogeneous right coideal subalgebras of the Borel Hopf subalgebras of quantized enveloping algebras obtained previously by H.-J. Schneider a…
The spaces of coinvariants are quotient spaces of integrable $\hat{sl_2}$ modules by subspaces generated by actions of certain subalgebras labeled by a set of points on a complex line. When all the points are distinct, the spaces of coinvariants essentially coincide with the spaces of conformal blocks in the WZW conformal field theory and their dimensions are given by the Verlinde rule. We describe monomial bases for the $\wsl$ spaces of coinvariants, In particular, we prove that the spaces of coinvariants have the same dimensions when all the points coincide. We establish recursive relations …
A universal weight function for a quantum affine algebra is a family of functions with values in a quotient of its Borel subalgebra, satisfying certain coalgebraic properties. In representations of the quantum affine algebra it gives off-shell Bethe vectors and is used in the construction of solutions of the qKZ equations. We construct a universal weight function for each untwisted quantum affine algebra, using projections onto the intersection of Borel subalgebras of different types, and study its functional properties.
We study some elementary properties of the quantum enveloping algebra associated to a parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of a semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. In particular we prove an explicit formula for the degree of this algebra, that extends the well known formula for the quantum enveloping algebra associated to $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathfrak{b}$, where $\mathfrak{b}i$ is a Borel subalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}$.
We give a precise expression for the universal weight function of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_3)$. The calculations use the technique of projecting products of Drinfeld currents on the intersections of Borel subalgebras.
We define the Hopf algebra structure on the Grothendieck group of finite-dimensional polynomial representations of $U_q \hat{gl}_N$ in the limit $N \to \infty$. The resulting Hopf algebra $Rep U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$ is a tensor product of its Hopf subalgebras $Rep_a U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$, $a\in\C^\times/q^{2\Z}$. When $q$ is generic (resp., $q^2$ is a primitive root of unity of order $l$), we construct an isomorphism between the Hopf algebra $Rep_a U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$ and the algebra of regular functions on the prounipotent proalgebraic group $SL_\infty^-$ (resp., $\tilde{GL}_l^-$). When $q$ is …
A triangular quantum deformation of $ osp(2/1) $ from the classical $r$-matrix including an odd generator is presented with its full Hopf algebra structure. The deformation maps, twisting element and tensor operators are considered for the deformed $ osp(2/1)$. It is also shown that its subalgebra generated by the Borel subalgebra is self-dual.
We study graded right coideal subalgebras of Nichols algebras of semisimple Yetter-Drinfeld modules. Assuming that the Yetter-Drinfeld module admits all reflections and the Nichols algebra is decomposable, we construct an injective order preserving and order reflecting map between morphisms of the Weyl groupoid and graded right coideal subalgebras of the Nichols algebra. Here morphisms are ordered with respect to right Duflo order and right coideal subalgebras are ordered with respect to inclusion. If the Weyl groupoid is finite, then we prove that the Nichols algebra is decomposable and the a…
Let $g$ be an exceptional Lie superalgebra, and let $p$ be the maximal parabolic subalgebra which contains the distinguished Borel subalgebra and has a purely even Levi subalgebra. For any parabolic Verma module in the parabolic category $O^p$, it is shown that the Jantzen filtration is the unique Loewy filtration, and the decomposition numbers of the layers of the filtration are determined by the coefficients of inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. An explicit description of the submodule lattices of the parabolic Verma modules is given, and formulae for characters and dimensions of the finit…
The decompositions of the Fock and Basic modules of the affine Lie algebra \hat{sl(N)} into irreducible submodules of the Yangian algebra Y(gl(N)) are constructed. Each of the irreducible submodules admits the unique up to normalization eigenbasis of the maximal commutative subalgebra of the Yangian. The elements of this eigenbasis are identified with specializations of Macdonald symmetric functions where both parameters of these functions approach an N-th primitive root of unity.
We offer a complete classification of right coideal subalgebras which contain all group-like elements for the multiparameter version of the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$ provided that the main parameter $q$ is not a root of 1. As a consequence, we determine that for each subgroup $Σ$ of the group $G$ of all group-like elements the quantum Borel subalgebra $U_q^+ (\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$ containes $(n+1)!$ different homogeneous right coideal subalgebras $U$ such that $U\cap G=Σ.$ If $q$ has a finite multiplicative order $t>2,$ the classification remains valid for homogeneous right coid…
We study highest weight representations of the Borel subalgebra of the quantum toroidal gl(1) algebra with finite-dimensional weight spaces. In particular, we develop the q-character theory for such modules. We introduce and study the subcategory of `finite type' modules. By definition, a module over the Borel subalgebra is finite type if the Cartan like current ψ^+(z) has a finite number of eigenvalues, even though the module itself can be infinite dimensional. We use our results to diagonalize the transfer matrix T_{V,W}(u;p) analogous to those of the six vertex model. In our setting T_{V,W}…
In this paper we review the coset construction for winding subalgebras of affine Lie algebras. We classify all cosets of central charge $\hat c<1$ and calculate their branching rules. The corresponding character identities give certain `doubling formulae' for the affine characters. We discuss some applications of our construction, in particular we find a simple proof of a crucial identity needed for the computation of the level-2 root multiplicities of the hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebra $E_{10}$.
For symplectic Lie algebras $\mathfrak{sp}(2n,\mathbb{C})$, denote by $\mathfrak{b}$ and $\mathfrak{n}$ its Borel subalgebra and maximal nilpotent subalgebra, respectively. We construct a relationship between the abelian ideals of $\mathfrak{b}$ and the cohomology of $\mathfrak{n}$ with trivial coefficients. By this relationship, we can enumerate the number of abelian ideals of $\mathfrak{b}$ with certain dimension via the Poincare polynomials of Weyl groups of type $A_{n-1}$ and $C_n$.
We study a class of representations of the Lie algebra of Laurent polynomials with values in the nilpotent subalgebra of sl(3). We derive Weyl-type (bosonic) character formulas for these representations. We establish a connection between the bosonic formulas and the Whittaker vector in the Verma module for the quantum group $U_v sl(3)$. We also obtain a fermionic formula for an eigenfunction of the sl(3) quantum Toda Hamiltonian.
We identify generating functionals that satisfy dynamical exchange relations with the Lax matrices defining the face-type elliptic quantum algebra ${\mathcal{B}}_{q,λ}(\hat{gl}_{2})_c$, when the central charge takes the two possible values $c =\pm 2$. These generating functionals are constructed as quadratic trace-like objects in terms of the Lax matrices. The obtained structures are characterized as "dynamical centers", i.e. the centrality property is deformed by dynamical shifts. For these values, the functionals define (genuine) abelian subalgebras of ${\mathcal{B}}_{q,λ}(\hat{gl}_{2})_c$.
For the simple Lie algebra $ \frak{so}_m$, we study the commutant vertex operator algebra of $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(n,0)$ in the $n$-fold tensor product $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(1,0)^{\otimes n}$. It turns out that this commutant vertex operator algebra can be realized as a fixed point subalgebra of $L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{n}}(m,0)$ (or its simple current extension) associated with a certain abelian group. This result may be viewed as a version of level-rank duality.
The two isomorphic Borel subalgebras of gl(n), realized on upper and lower triangular matrices, allow us to consider the gl(n) \opus t_n algebra as a self-dual Drinfeld double. Compatibility conditions impose the choice of an orthonormal basis in the Cartan subalgebra and fix the basis of gl(n). A natural Lie bialgebra structure on gl(n) is obtained, that offers a new perspective for its standard quantum deformation.
We prove a dual version of Øystein Ore's theorem on distributive intervals in the subgroup lattice of finite groups, having a nonzero dual Euler totient $\hatφ$. For any Boolean group-complemented interval, we observe that $\hatφ = φ\neq 0$ by the original Ore's theorem. We also discuss some applications in representation theory. We conjecture that $\hatφ$ is always nonzero for Boolean intervals. In order to investigate it, we prove that for any Boolean group-complemented interval $[H,G]$, the graded coset poset $\hat{P} = \hat{C}(H,G)$ is Cohen-Macaulay and the nontrivial reduced Betti number…
We show that for some Hopf subalgebras in U_F(so(M)) nontrivially deformed by a twist F it is possible to find the nonlinear primitive copies. This enlarges the possibilities to construct chains of twists. For orthogonal algebra U(so(M)) we present a method to compose the full chains with carrier space as large as the Borel subalgebra B(so(M)). These chains can be used to construct the new deformed Yangians.
The conformal field theory based on the $g/u(1)^d$ coset construction is treated as the WZNW theory for the affine Lie algebra $\hat g$ with the constrained $\hat u(1)^d$ subalgebra.Using a modification of the generalized canonical quantization method generators and primary fields of an extended symmetry algebra are found for arbitrary d.
We introduce systems of objects and operators in linear monoidal categories called $\hat Ψ$-systems. A $\hat Ψ$-system satisfying several additional assumptions gives rise to a topological invariant of triples (a closed oriented 3-manifold $M$, a principal bundle over $M$, a link in $M$). This construction generalizes the quantum dilogarithmic invariant of links appearing in the original formulation of the volume conjecture. We conjecture that all quantum groups at odd roots of unity give rise to $\hat Ψ$-systems and we verify this conjecture in the case of the Borel subalgebra of quantum $sl_…
In this paper we construct a compact quantum semigroup structure on the Toeplitz algebra $\mathcal{T}$. The existence of a subalgebra, isomorphic to the algebra of regular Borel's measures on a circle with convolution product, in the dual algebra $\mathcal{T}^*$ is shown. The existence of Haar functionals in the dual algebra and in the above-mentioned subalgebra is proved. Also we show the connection between $\mathcal{T}$ and the structure of weak Hopf algebra.
