We show that there are precisely two, up to conjugation, anti-involutions sigma_{\pm} of the algebra of differential operators on the circle preserving the principal gradation. We classify the irreducible quasifinite highest weight representations of the central extension \hat{D}^{\pm} of the Lie subalgebra of this algebra fixed by - sigma_{\pm}, and find the unitary ones.
We realize them in terms of highest weight representations of the central extension of the Lie algebra of infinite matrices with finitely many non-zero diagonals over the truncated polynomial algebra C[u] / (u^{m+1}) and its classical Lie subalgebras of B, C and D types. Character formulas for positive primitive representations of \hat{D}^{\pm} (including all the unitary ones) are obtained. We also realize a class of primitive representations of \hat{D}^{\pm} in terms of free fields and establish a number of duality results between these primitive representations and finite-dimensional irreducible representations of finite-dimensional Lie groups and supergroups. We show that the vacuum module V_c of \hat{D}^+ carries a vertex algebra structure and establish a relationship between V_c for half-integral central charge c and W-algebras.
We classify the quasifinite highest weight modules over a family of subalgebras W_{\infty}^{n} of the central extension W_{1+\infty} of the Lie algebra of differential operators on the circle consisting of operators of order \geq n. We classify the unitary quasifinite highest weight modules over W_{\infty}=W_{\infty}^{1} and realize them in terms of unitary highest weight representations of the Lie algebra of infinite matrices with finitely many non-zero diagonals.
It is proved that an irreducible quasifinite $W_\infty$-module is a highest or lowest weight module or a module of the intermediate series; a uniformly bounded indecomposable weight $W_\infty$-module is a module of the intermediate series. For a nondegenerate additive subgroup $G$ of $F^n$, where $F$ is a field of characteristic zero, there is a simple Lie or associative algebra $W(G,n)^{(1)}$ spanned by differential operators $uD_1^{m_1}... D_n^{m_n}$ for $u\in F[G]$ (the group algebra), and $m_i\ge0$ with $\sum_{i=1}^n m_i\ge1$, where $D_i$ are degree operators. It is also proved that an ind…
We classify positive energy representations with finite degeneracies of the Lie algebra $W_{1+\infty}\/$ and construct them in terms of representation theory of the Lie algebra $\hatgl ( \infty R_m )\/$ of infinite matrices with finite number of non-zero diagonals over the algebra $R_m = \C [ t ] / ( t^{m + 1} )\/$. The unitary ones are classified as well. Similar results are obtained for the sin-algebras.
We classify anti-involutions of Lie superalgebra $\hsd$ preserving the principal gradation, where $\hsd$ is the central extension of the Lie superalgebra of differential operators on the super circle $S^{1|1}$. We clarify the relations between the corresponding subalgebras fixed by these anti-involutions and subalgebras of $\hat{gl}_{\infty|\infty}$ of types $OSP$ and $P$. We obtain a criterion for an irreducible highest weight module over these subalgebras to be quasifinite and construct free field realizations of a distinguished class of these modules. We further establish dualities between …
The infinite affine Lie algebras of type ABCD, also called $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{o}}(\infty)$, $\widehat{\mathfrak{sp}}(\infty)$, are equivalent to subalgebras of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ algebras. They have well-known representations on the Fock space of either a Dirac fermion ($\hat A_\infty$), a Majorana fermion ($\hat B_\infty$ and $\hat D_\infty$) or a symplectic boson ($\hat C_\infty$). Explicit formulas for the action of the quantum $W_{1+\infty}$ subalgebras on the Fock states are proposed for each representation. These formulas are the equivalent of …
In this paper, we explore natural connections among the representations of the extended affine Lie algebra $\widehat{sl_N}(\mathbb{C}_q)$ with $\mathbb{C}_q=\mathbb{C}_q[t_0^{\pm1},t_1^{\pm1}]$ an irrational quantum 2-torus, the simple affine vertex algebra $L_{\widehat{sl_{\infty}}}(\ell,0)$ with $\ell$ a positive integer, and Levi subgroups $G$ of $GL_\ell(\mathbb{C})$. First, we give a canonical isomorphism between the category of integrable restricted $\widehat{sl_N}(\mathbb{C}_q)$-modules of level $\ell$ and that of equivariant quasi $L_{\widehat{sl_{\infty}}}(\ell,0)$-modules. Second, we…
Classical W-algebras in higher dimensions have been recently constructed. In this letter we show that there is a finitely generated subalgebra which is isomorphic to the algebra of local diffeomorphisms in D dimensions. Moreover, there is a tower of infinitely many fields transforming under this subalgebra as symmetric tensorial one-densities. We also unravel a structure isomorphic to the Schouten symmetric bracket, providing a natural generalization of w_\infty in higher dimensions.
We show that the vertex algebra W{1+ \infty} with central charge -1 is isomorphic to a tensor product of the simple W_3 algebra with central charge -2 and a Heisenberg vertex algebra generated by a free bosonic field. We construct a family of irreducible modules of the W_3 algebra with central charge -2 in terms of free fields and calculate the full character formulas of these modules with respect to the full Cartan subalgebra of the W_3 algebra.
Using the symmetry properties of two-dmensional sigma models, we introduce a notion of the Beltrami-Courant differential, so that there is a natural homotopy Gerstenhaber algebra related to it. We conjecture that the generalized Maurer-Cartan equation for the corresponding $L_{\infty}$ subalgebra gives solutions to the Einstein equations.
We investigate in detail relationships between the set ${\mathfrak B}^\infty$ of all infinite ``biconvex'' sets in the positive root system $Δ_+$ of an arbitrary untwisted affine Lie algebra ${\mathfrak g}$ and the set ${\mathcal W}^\infty$ of all infinite ``reduced word'' of the Weyl group of ${\mathfrak g}$. The study is applied to the classification of ``convex orders'' on $Δ_+$ (cf. \cite{kI}), which are indispensable to construct ``convex bases'' of Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt type of the upper triangular subalgebra $U_q^+$ of the quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q({\mathfrak g})$. We…
Given a simple vertex algebra A and a reductive group G of automorphisms of A, the invariant subalgebra A^G is strongly finitely generated in most examples where its structure is known. This phenomenon is subtle, and is generally not true of the classical limit of A^G, which often requires infinitely many generators and infinitely many relations to describe. Using tools from classical invariant theory, together with recent results on the structure of the W_{1+\infty} algebra, we establish the strong finite generation of a large family of invariant subalgebras of βγ-systems, bc-systems, and bcβ…
We define the Hopf algebra structure on the Grothendieck group of finite-dimensional polynomial representations of $U_q \hat{gl}_N$ in the limit $N \to \infty$. The resulting Hopf algebra $Rep U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$ is a tensor product of its Hopf subalgebras $Rep_a U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$, $a\in\C^\times/q^{2\Z}$. When $q$ is generic (resp., $q^2$ is a primitive root of unity of order $l$), we construct an isomorphism between the Hopf algebra $Rep_a U_q \hat{gl}_\infty$ and the algebra of regular functions on the prounipotent proalgebraic group $SL_\infty^-$ (resp., $\tilde{GL}_l^-$). When $q$ is …
To any finite group G of automorphisms of a symplectic vector space V we associate a new multi-parameter deformation, H_k, of the smash product of G with the polynomial algebra on V. The algebra H_k, called a symplectic reflection algebra, is related to the coordinate ring of a universal Poisson deformation of the quotient singularity V/G. If G is the Weyl group of a root system in a vector space h and V=h\oplus h^*, then the algebras H_k are `rational' degenerations of Cherednik's double affine Hecke algebra. Let G=S_n, the Weyl group of g=gl_n. We construct a 1-parameter deformation of the H…
Let $\D$ be the Lie algebra of regular differentialoperators on ${\C} \setminus \{0\}$, and ${\hD}= {\D} + {\C} C$ be the central extension of ${\D}$. Let $W_{1+\infty,-N}$ be the vertex algebra associated to the irreducible vacuum $\hD$-module with the central charge $c=-N$. We show that $W_{1+\infty,-N}$ is a subalgebra of the Heisenberg vertex algebra M(1) with $2 N$ generators, and construct 2N-dimensional family of irreducible $W_{1+\infty,-N}$-modules. Considering these modules as $\hD$-modules, we identify the corresponding highest weights.
Given a a Hopf algebra $H$, its left coideal subalgebra $A$ and a non-zero multiplicative functional $μ$ on $A$, we define the space of left $μ$-integrals $L^A_μ\subset A$. We observe that $\dim L^A_μ=1$ if $A$ is a Frobenius algebra and we conclude this equality for finite dimensional left coideal subalgebras of a weakly finite Hopf algebra. In general we prove that if $\dim L^A_μ>0$ then $\dim A <\infty$. Given a group-like element $g\in H$ we define the space $L^g_{ A}\subset A'$ of $g$-cointegrals on $ A$ and linking this concept with the theory of $μ$-integrals we observe that: - every se…
The present paper establishes a connection between the Lie algebra W_{1+infty} and the bispectral problem. We show that the manifolds of bispectral operators obtained by Darboux transformations on powers of Bessel operators are in one to one correspondence with the manifolds of tau-functions lying in the W_{1+infty}-modules M_beta introduced in our previous paper hep-th/9510211. An immediate corollary is that they are preserved by hierarchies of symmetries generated by subalgebras of W_{1+infty}. This paper is the last of a series of papers (hep-th/9510211, q-alg/9602010, q-alg/9602011) on the…
We define the tensor product of filtered $A_\infty$-algebras. establish some of its properties and give a partial description of the space of bounding cochains in the tensor product. Furthermore we show that in the case of classical $A_\infty$-algebras our definition recovers the one given by Markl and Shnider. We also give a criterion that implies that a given $A_\infty$-algebra is quasi-isomorphic to the tensor product of two subalgebras. This will be used in a sequel to prove a Künneth Theorem for the Fukaya algebra of a product of Lagrangian submanifolds.
In this paper, we study the two-parameter quantum group $U_{r,s}(\mathfrak sl_{\infty})$ associated to the Lie algebra $\mathfrak sl_{\infty}$ of infinite rank. We shall prove that the two-parameter quantum group $U_{r,s}(\mathfrak sl_{\infty})$ admits both a Hopf algebra structure and a triangular decomposition. In particular, it can be realized as the Drinfeld double of it's certain Hopf subalgebras. We will also study a two-parameter twisted Ringel-Hall algebra $H_{r,s}(A_{\infty})$ associated to the category of all finite dimensional representations of the infinite linear quiver $A_{\infty…
The $L_\infty$-algebra is an algebraic structure suitable for describing deformation problems. In this paper we construct one $L_\infty$-algebra, which turns out to be a differential graded Lie algebra, to control the deformations of Lie algebroids and a second one to control the deformations of Lie subalgebroids. We also combine these two $L_\infty$-algebras into one to control the simultaneous deformations of a Lie algebroid and its Lie subalgebroids. The results generalize the deformation theory of Lie algebra and Lie subalgebras. Applications of our results include deformations of foliatio…
We introduce and study a construction of higher derived brackets generated by a (not necessarily inner) derivation of a Lie superalgebra. Higher derived brackets generated by an element of a Lie superalgebra were introduced in our earlier work. Examples of higher derived brackets naturally appear in geometry and mathematical physics. From a totally different viewpoint, we show that higher derived brackets arise when one wants to turn the inclusion map of a subalgebra of a differential Lie superalgebra, with a given complementary subalgebra, into a fibration. (For a non-Abelian complementary su…
We prove that we have an isomorphism of type $A_{aut}(\mathbb C_σ[G])\simeq A_{aut}(\mathbb C[G])^σ$, for any finite group $G$, and any 2-cocycle $σ$ on $G$. In the particular case $G=\mathbb Z_n^2$, this leads to a Haar-measure preserving identification between the subalgebra of $A_o(n)$ generated by the variables $u_{ij}^2$, and the subalgebra of $A_s(n^2)$ generated by the variables $X_{ij}=\sum_{a,b=1}^np_{ia,jb}$. Since $u_{ij}$ is "free hyperspherical" and $X_{ij}$ is "free hypergeometric", we obtain in this way a new free probability formula, which at $n=\infty$ corresponds to the well-…
We consider the Whittaker modules $M_{1}(λ,μ)$ for the Weyl vertex algebra $M$, constructed in arXiv:1811.04649, where it was proved that these modules are irreducible for each finite cyclic orbifold $M^{\Bbb Z_n}$. In this paper, we consider the modules $M_{1}(λ,μ)$ as modules for the ${\Bbb Z}$-orbifold of $M$, denoted by $M^0$. $M^0$ is isomorphic to the vertex algebra $\mathcal W_{1+\infty, c=-1} = \mathcal M(2) \otimes M_1(1)$ which is the tensor product of the Heisenberg vertex algebra $M_1(1)$ and the singlet algebra $\mathcal M(2)$. Furthermore, these modules are also modules of the Li…
