We provide an alternative approach to the Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan presentation of the quantum group U_q(g), with L-operators as generators and relations ruled by an R-matrix. We look at U_q(g) as being generated by the quantum Borel subalgebras U_q(b_+) and U_q(b_-), and we use the standard presentation of the latters as quantum function algebras. When g = gl(n) these Borel quantum function algebras are generated by the entries of a triangular q-matrix, thus eventually U_q(gl(n)) is generated by the entries of an upper triangular and a lower triangular q-matrix, which share the same diagonal. The same elements generate over the ring of Laurent polynomials the unrestricted integer form of U_q(gl(n)) of De Concini and Procesi, which we present explicitly, together with a neat description of the associated quantum Frobenius morphisms at roots of 1. All this holds, mutatis mutandis, for g = sl(n) too.
For the Borel part of a quantized enveloping algebra we classify all right coideal subalgebras for which the intersection with the coradical is a Hopf algebra. The result is expressed in terms of characters of the subalgebras $U^+[w]$ of the quantized enveloping algebra, introduced by de Concini, Kac, and Procesi for any Weyl group element $w$. We explicitly determine all characters of $U^+[w]$ building on recent work by Yakimov on prime ideals of $U^+[w]$ which are invariant under a torus action. Key words: Quantum groups, coideal subalgebras
The fundamental example of Gerstenhaber algebra is the space $T_{poly}({\mathbb R}^d)$ of polyvector fields on $\mathbb{R}^d$, equipped with the wedge product and the Schouten bracket. In this paper, we explicitely describe what is the enveloping $G_\infty$ algebra of a Gerstenhaber algebra $\mathcal{G}$. This structure gives us a definition of the Chevalley-Harrison cohomology operator for $\mathcal{G}$. We finally show the nontriviality of a Chevalley-Harrison cohomology group for a natural Gerstenhaber subalgebra in $T_{poly}({\mathbb R}^d)$.
An alternative to the Chevalley description of Lie algebra sl(n+1), of its universal enveloping algebra U[sl(n+1)] and of its q-deformed analogue U_q[sl(n+1)] in terms of generators, called creation and annihilation generators (CAGs), and relations is given. It is indicated (without further discussions) that the representations of the CAGs describe new quantum statistics, which is a particular case of the Haldane exclusion statistics.
For a quantized enveloping algebra of a complex semisimple Lie algebra with deformation parameter not a root of unity, we classify all homogeneous right coideal subalgebras. Any such right coideal subalgebra is determined uniquely by a triple consisting of two elements of the Weyl group and a subset of the set of simple roots satisfying some natural conditions. The essential ingredients of the proof are the Lusztig automorphisms and the classification of homogeneous right coideal subalgebras of the Borel Hopf subalgebras of quantized enveloping algebras obtained previously by H.-J. Schneider a…
We study some elementary properties of the quantum enveloping algebra associated to a parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of a semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. In particular we prove an explicit formula for the degree of this algebra, that extends the well known formula for the quantum enveloping algebra associated to $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathfrak{b}$, where $\mathfrak{b}i$ is a Borel subalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}$.
In this paper, we compute the Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology of the three-dimensionnal Heisenberg Lie algebra with values in its universal enveloping algebra. We also compte the Schouten brackets on cochains and cohomology level in order to write the formality equations. It turns out that there is no formality, ans that the perturbed L-infinity structure on the cohomology has non-trivial terms in infinitely manu degrees.
We shall construct the quantized q-analogues of the birational Weyl group actions arising from nilpotent Poisson algebras, which are conceptual generalizations, proposed by Noumi and Yamada, of the Bäcklund transformations for Painlevé equations. Consider a quotient Ore domain of the lower nilpotent part of a quantized universal enveloping algebra of arbitrary symmetrizable Kac-Moody type. Then non-integral powers of the image of the Chevalley generators generate the quantized q-analogue of the birational Weyl group action. Using the same method, we shall reconstruct the quantized Bäcklund tra…
We introduce a notion of I-factorial quantum torsor, which consists of an integrable ergodic action of a locally compact quantum group on a type I-factor such that also the crossed product is a type I-factor. We show that any such I-factorial quantum torsor is at the same time a I-factorial quantum torsor for the dual locally compact quantum group, in such a way that the construction is involutive. As a motivating example, we show that quantized compact semisimple Lie groups, when amplified via a crossed product construction with the function algebra on the associated weight lattice, admit I-f…
Let ${U}_q(sl_2)$ be the quantized enveloping algebra associated to the simple Lie algebra $sl_2$. In this paper, we study the quantum double $D_q$ of the Borel subalgebra ${U}_q((sl_2)^{\leq 0})$ of ${U}_q(sl_2)$. We construct an analogue of Kostant--Lusztig ${Z}[v,v^{-1}]$-form for $D_q$ and show that it is a Hopf subalgebra. We prove that, over an algebraically closed field, every simple $D_q$-module is the pullback of a simple ${U}_q(sl_2)$-module through certain surjection from $D_q$ onto ${U}_q(sl_2)$, and the category of finite dimensional weight $D_q$-modules is equivalent to a direct …
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a Kac-Moody algebra. We show that every homogeneous right coideal subalgebra $U$ of the multiparameter version of the quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{g}),$ $q^m\neq 1$ containing all group-like elements has a triangular decomposition $U=U^-\otimes_{{\bf k}[F]} {\bf k}[H] \otimes_{{\bf k}[G]} U^+$, where $U^-$ and $ U^+$ are right coideal subalgebras of negative and positive quantum Borel subalgebras. However if $ U_1$ and $ U_2$ are arbitrary right coideal subalgebras of respectively positive and negative quantum Borel subalgebras, then the triangular…
Let $ \mathfrak{g} $ be an untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebra over the field $ K \, $, and let $ U_q(\mathfrak{g}) $ be the associated quantum enveloping algebra; let $ \mathfrak{U}_q(g) $ be the Lusztig's integer form of $ U_q(\mathfrak{g}) \, $, generated by $ q $-divided powers of Chevalley generators over a suitable subring $ R $ of $ K(q) \, $. We prove a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt like theorem for $ \mathfrak{U}_q(\mathfrak{g}) \, $, yielding a basis over $ R $ made of ordered products of $ q $-divided powers of suitable quantum root vectors.
De Concini, Kac and Procesi defined a family of subalgebras U^w_+ of a quantized universal enveloping algebra U_q(g), associated to the elements of the corresponding Weyl group W. They are deformations of the universal enveloping algebras U(n_+ \cap Ad_w(n_-)) where n_\pm are the nilradicals of a pair of dual Borel subalgebras. Based on results of Gorelik and Joseph and an interpretation of U^w_+ as quantized algebras of functions on Schubert cells, we construct explicitly the H invariant prime ideals of each U^w_+ and show that the corresponding poset is isomorphic to W^{\leq w}, where H is t…
We give a complete classification of bicovariant first order differential calculi on the quantum enveloping algebra U_q(b+) which we view as the quantum function algebra C_q(B+). Here, b+ is the Borel subalgebra of sl_2. We do the same in the classical limit q->1 and obtain a one-to-one correspondence in the finite dimensional case. It turns out that the classification is essentially given by finite subsets of the positive integers. We proceed to investigate the classical limit from the dual point of view, i.e. with ``function algebra'' U(b+) and ``enveloping algebra'' C(B+). In this case ther…
We find the general solution to the twisting equation in the tensor bialgebra $T({\bf R})$ of an associative unital ring ${\bf R}$ viewed as that of fundamental representation for a universal enveloping Lie algebra and its quantum deformations. We suggest a procedure of constructing twisting cocycles belonging to a given quasitriangular subbialgebra ${\cal H}\subset T({\bf R})$. This algorithm generalizes Reshetikhin's approach, which involves cocycles fulfilling the Yang-Baxter equation. Within this framework we study a class of quantized inhomogeneous Lie algebras related to associative ring…
New solutions of twist equations for universal enveloping algebras U(A_{n-1}) are found. They can be presented as products of full chains F_c of extended Jordanian twists, Abelian factors (rotations) F^R and sets of quasi-Jordanian twists F^J. The latter are the generalizations of Jordanian twists (with 2-dimensional Borel carrier b^2) for special deformed extensions of the Hopf algebra U(b^2). The carrier subalgebra g_P for the composition of these three twists is a nonminimal parabolic subalgebra in sl(n). The parabolic twisting elements F_P are obtained in the explicit form. The details of …
We study graded right coideal subalgebras of Nichols algebras of semisimple Yetter-Drinfeld modules. Assuming that the Yetter-Drinfeld module admits all reflections and the Nichols algebra is decomposable, we construct an injective order preserving and order reflecting map between morphisms of the Weyl groupoid and graded right coideal subalgebras of the Nichols algebra. Here morphisms are ordered with respect to right Duflo order and right coideal subalgebras are ordered with respect to inclusion. If the Weyl groupoid is finite, then we prove that the Nichols algebra is decomposable and the a…
We consider finite-dimensional Hopf algebras $u$ which admit a smooth deformation $U\to u$ by a Noetherian Hopf algebra $U$ of finite global dimension. Examples of such Hopf algebras include small quantum groups over the complex numbers, restricted enveloping algebras in finite characteristic, and Drinfeld doubles of height $1$ group schemes. We provide a means of analyzing (cohomological) support for representations over such $u$, via the singularity categories of the hypersurfaces $U/(f)$ associated to functions $f$ on the corresponding parametrization space. We use this hypersurface approac…
In 1978 Kostant suggested the Whittaker model of the center of the universal enveloping algebra U(g) of a complex simple Lie algebra g. The main result is that the center of U(g) is isomorphic to a commutative subalgebra in U(b), where b is a Borel subalgebra in g. This observation is used in the theory of principal series representations of the corresponding Lie group G and in the proof of complete integrability of the quantum Toda lattice. In this paper we generalize the Kostant's construction to quantum groups. In our construction we use quantum analogues of regular nilpotent elements defin…
