Albeit essential corrections are required both in his claim and in his argument, N.V. Kuznetsov observed in his Bombay article (*) of 1989 a highly interesting transformation formula for spectral sums of products of four values of modular Hecke L-functions. A complete proof of a corrected version of the formula was later supplied by the present author in 1991, which has, however, remained unpublished for more than a decade, except for a limited distribution. The aim of the present paper is to reproduce this proof of the author with some sophistications, retaining the original style as much as possible. (*) He claimed a resolution of the eighth moment problem of the Riemann zeta-function. But his argument is fatally incorrect. Our paper here concerns an essential ingredient in his argument, but we claim nothing about the eighth moment itself.
We obtain an asymptotic formula for the fourth moment of central values of a family of quadratic Hecke $L$-functions in the Gaussian field under the generalized Riemann hypothesis (GRH). We also establish lower bounds unconditionally and upper bounds under GRH for higher moments of the same family.
We prove that the fourth moment of holomorphic Hecke cusp forms is bounded provided that the Riemann Hypothesis holds for an appropriate degree 8 L-function. We accomplish this using Watson's formula, which translates the question in hand into a moment problem for L-functions which is amenable to the techniques of Soundararajan and Harper on obtaining sharp bounds for moments of the Riemann zeta function.
We calculate the effect of simple Hecke operators on u-expansions of higher rank Drinfeld modular forms, the eigenvalue for the Drinfeld discriminant function $Δ_t$ and show that a certain natural class of Hecke operators is completely multiplicative.
We construct a Taylor-Wiles system using a family of $p$-adically completed modular Jacobians over suitable Hecke algebras and prove that certain $p$-adically completed Mordell-Weil groups of these Jacobians is free of finite rank over a Hecke algebra.
We investigate non-vanishing properties of $L(f,s)$ on the real line, when $f$ is a Hecke eigenform of half-integral weight $k+{1\over 2}$ on $Γ_0(4).$
In this paper we outline the Hecke theory for Hermitian modular forms in the sense of Hel Braun for arbitrary class number of the attached imaginary-quadratic number field. The Hecke algebra turns out to be commutative. Its inert part has a structure analogous to the case of the Siegel modular group and coincides with the tensor product of its $p$-components for inert primes $p$. This leads to a characterization of the associated Siegel-Eisenstein series. The proof also involves Hecke theory for particular congruence subgroups.
We prove that Cohen's Maass wave form and Li-Ngo-Rhoades' Maass wave form are Hecke eigenforms with respect to certain Hecke operators. As a corollary, we find new identities of the $p$th coefficients of these Maass wave forms in terms of $p$th root of unities.
A well-known observation of Serre and Tate is that the Hecke algebra acts locally nilpotently on modular forms mod 2 on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We give an algorithm for calculating the degree of Hecke nilpotency for cusp forms, and we obtain a formula for the total number of cusp forms mod 2 of any given degree of nilpotency. Using these results, we find that the degrees of Hecke nilpotency in spaces $M_k$ have no limiting distribution as $k \rightarrow \infty$. As an application, we study the parity of the partition function using Hecke nilpotency.
We study polynomials interpolating the (rational) constant terms of certain meromorphic modular forms for Hecke groups. We make observations about the divisibility properties of the constant terms and connect them to several sequences, for example, to O.E.I.S. sequence A005148 \cite{OEISNewmanShanks}, which was studied by Newman, Shanks and Zagier \cite{newman2004sequence}, \cite{newman2004sequenceAppendix} in an article on its use in series approximations to $π$.
We propose a method for computing approximations to the Hecke eigenvalues of a classical modular eigenform $f$, based on the analytic evaluation of $f$ at points in the upper half plane. Our approach works with arbitrary precision, allows for a strict control of the error in the approximation, and outperforms current exact computation methods.
We show that the systems of prime-to-$p$ Hecke eigenvalues arising from automorphic forms$\pmod p$ for a good prime $p$ associated to an algebraic group $G/\mathbb Q$ of Hodge type are the same as those arising from algebraic modular forms$\pmod p$ associated to an inner form of $G$.
For a prime number $q\geq 5$ and a positive integer $N$ prime to $q$, Ribet proved the action of the Hecke algebra on the component group of the Jacobian variety of the modular curve of level $Nq$ at $q$ is "Eisenstein", which means the Hecke operator $T_\ell$ acts by $\ell+1$ when $\ell$ is a prime number not dividing the level. In this paper, we completely compute the action of the Hecke algebra on this component group by a careful study of supersingular points with extra automorphisms.
We correct a mistake in \cite{St} leading to erroneous formulas in Theorems 5.2 and 5.4. As an immediate corollary of a formula in \cite{BCJ} we give a formula, which relates the Hecke operators $T(p^2)\circ T(p^{2l-2})$, $T(p^{2l})$ and $T(p^{2l-4})$ and comment on it.
We formulate some properties of a conjectural object $X_{fun}(r,n)$ parametrizing Anderson t-motives of dimension $n$ and rank $r$. Namely, we give formulas for $\goth p$-Hecke correspondences of $X_{fun}(r,n)$ and its reductions at $\goth p$ (where $\goth p$ is a prime of $\Bbb F_q[θ]$). Also, we describe their geometric interpretation. These results are analogs of the corresponding results of reductions of Shimura varieties. Finally, we give conjectural formulas for Hodge numbers (over the fields generated by Hecke correspondences) of middle cohomology submotives of $X_{fun}(r,n)$.
The standard approach to evaluate Hecke eigenvalues of a Siegel modular eigenform F is to determine a large number of Fourier coefficients of F and then compute the Hecke action on those coefficients. We present a new method based on the numerical evaluation of F at explicit points in the upper-half space and of its image under the Hecke operators. The approach is more efficient than the standard method and has the potential for further optimization by identifying good candidates for the points of evaluation, or finding ways of lowering the truncation bound. A limitation of the algorithm is th…
In Monstrous moonshine, genus 0 property and the notion of replicability are strongly connected. With regards to recent developments of moonshine, we investigate a higher genus generalization of replicability for a general automorphic form. Specifically, we extend the definitions of replicates and a Hecke operator to harmonic Maass functions on modular curves of higher genera to obtain number theoretic generalizations of important results in Monstrous moonshine. Furthermore, we show the utility of the extended notions in yielding uniform proofs for numerous arithmetic properties of Fourier coe…
Extending work of J. Raleigh, we compute polynomials $P_{n,F}(x)$ associated to certain families $F = \{f_m\}_{m = 3, 4, ...}$ of modular forms for Hecke groups $G(λ_m)$ with the property that $P_{n,F}(m)$ is the $n^{th}$ coefficient in the Fourier expansion of $f_m$. We express the $P_{n,F}$ in terms of the Fourier expansions of well-known Hauptmoduln, or in terms of certain divisor-sums. By studying the complex roots of the $P_n$, we relate them to Lehmer's question about Ramanujan's tau function. We review the theory of triangle functions and Hecke's theory of modular forms in order to esta…
We prove sub-convex bounds on the fourth moment of Hecke-Laplace eigenforms on $S^3$. As a corollary, we get a bound on the sup-norm on an individual eigenform, which constitutes an improvement over what is achievable through employing the Iwaniec-Sarnak amplifier.
