We introduce a new cohomology theory related to deformations of Lie algebra morphisms. This notion involves simultaneous deformations of two Lie algebras and a homomorphism between them.
The purpose of this paper is to study deformation theory of Hom-associative algebra morphisms and Hom-Lie algebra morphisms. We introduce a suitable cohomology and discuss Infinitesimal deformations, equivalent deformations and obstructions. Moreover, we provide some examples.
An analog of Kreimer's coproduct from renormalization of Feynman integrals in quantum field theory, endows an analog of Kontsevich's graph complex with a dg-coalgebra structure. The graph complex is generated by orientation classes of labeled directed graphs. A graded commutative product is also defined, compatible with the coproduct. Moreover, a dg-Hopf algebra is identified. Graph cohomology is defined applying the cobar construction to the dg-coalgebra structure. As an application, L-infinity morphisms represented as series over Feynman graphs correspond to graph cocycles. Notably the total…
The purpose of this paper is to study Virasoro extensions of the q-deformed Witt Hom-Lie superalgebra. Moreover, we provide the cohomology and deformations of the Ramond Hom-superalgebra and special Ramond Hom-superalgebra.
We present a method to construct explicitly L-infinity algebras governing simultaneous deformations of various kinds of algebraic structures and of their morphisms. It is an alternative to the heavy use of the operad machinery of the existing approaches. Our method relies on Voronov's derived bracket construction.
In this paper, we first recall the notion of (noncommutative) Poisson conformal algebras and describe some constructions of them. Then we study the formal distribution (noncommutative) Poisson algebras and coefficient (noncommutative) Poisson algebras. Next, we introduce the notion of conformal formal deformations of commutative associative conformal algebras and show that Poisson conformal algebras are the corresponding semi-classical limits. At last, we develop the cohomology theory of noncommutative Poisson conformal algebras and use this cohomology to study their deformations.
The strong homotopy Lie algebra, controlling simultaneous deformations of a morphism of associative algebras and its domain and codomain is constructed. Isomorphism of the cohomology of this strong homotopy Lie algebra with the classical construction is shown.
$G_\infty$-structure is shown to exist on the deformation complex of a morphism of associative algebras. The main step of the construction is extension of a $B_\infty$-algebra by an associative algebra. Actions of $B_\infty$-algebras on associative and $B_\infty$-algebras are analyzed, extensions of $B_\infty$-algebras by associative and $B_\infty$-algebras, that they act upon, are constructed. The resulting $G_\infty$-algebra on the deformation complex of a morphism is shown to be quasi-isomorphic to the $G_\infty$-algebra on deformation complex of the corresponding diagram algebra.
We introduce a cohomology theory of $n$-ary self-distributive objects in the tensor category of vector spaces that classifies their infinitesimal deformations. For $n$-ary self-distributive objects obtained from $n$-Lie algebras we show that ($n$-ary) Lie cohomology naturally injects in the self-distributive cohomology and we prove, under mild additional assumptions, that the map is an isomorphism of second cohomology groups. This shows that the self-distribuitve deformations are completely classified by the deformations of the Lie bracket. This theory has important applications in the study o…
In deformation quantization one can associate five characteristic functions to (stable) formality morphisms on cochains and chains and to "two-brane" formality morphisms. We show that these characteristic functions agree.
The main goal of this paper is to investigate the structure of Hopf algebras with the property that either its Jacobson radical is a Hopf ideal or its coradical is a subalgebra. In order to do that we define the Hochschild cohomology of an algebra in an abelian monoidal category. Then we characterize those algebras which have dimension less than or equal to 1 with respect to Hochschild cohomology. Now let us consider a Hopf algebra A such that its Jacobson radical J is a nilpotent Hopf ideal and H:=A/J is a semisimple algebra. By using our homological results, we prove that the canonical proje…
We construct a configuration space model for a particular 2-colored differential graded operad encoding the structure of two $A_\infty$ algebras with two $A_\infty$ morphisms and a homotopy between the morphisms. The cohomology of this operad is shown to be the well-known 2-colored operad encoding the structure of two associative algebras and of an associative algebra morphism between them.
Given a coalgebra C over a cooperad, and an algebra A over an operad, it is often possible to define a natural homotopy Lie algebra structure on hom(C,A), the space of linear maps between them, called the convolution algebra of C and A. In the present article, we use convolution algebras to define the deformation complex for infinity-morphisms of algebras over operads and coalgebras over cooperads. We also complete the study of the compatibility between convolution algebras and infinity-morphisms of algebras and coalgebras. We prove that the convolution algebra bifunctor can be extended to a b…
The deformation cohomology of a tensor category controls deformations of its monoidal structure. Here we describe the deformation cohomology of tensor categories generated by one object (the so-called Schur-Weyl categories). Using this description we compute the deformation cohomology of free symmetric tensor categories generated by one object with an algebra of endomorphism free of zero-divisors. We compare the answers with the exterior invariants of the general linear Lie algebra.
An A-infinity algebra is given by a codifferential on the tensor coalgebra of a (graded) vector space. An associative algebra is a special case of an A-infinity algebra, determined by a quadratic codifferential. The notions of Hochschild and cyclic cohomology generalize from associative to A-infinity algebras, and classify the infinitesimal deformations of the algebra, and those deformations preserving an invariant inner product, respectively. Similarly, an L-infinity algebra is given by a codifferential on the exterior coalgebra of a vector space, with Lie algebras being special cases given b…
The purpose of this paper is to introduce an algebraic cohomology and formal deformation theory of left alternative algebras. Connections to some other algebraic structures are given also.
Hom-bialgebras and Hom-Hopf algebras are generalizations of bialgebra and Hopf algebra structures, where associativity and coassociativity conditions are twisted by a homomorphism. The purpose of this paper is to define a Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomology complex for Hom-bialgebras and then study one parameter formal deformations.
Cohomology and deformation theories are developed for Poisson algebras starting with the more general concept of a Leibniz pair, namely of an associative algebra $A$ together with a Lie algebra $L$ mapped into the derivations of $A$. A bicomplex (with both Hochschild and Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomologies) is essential.
We define a cohomology for an arbitrary $K$-linear semistrict semigroupal 2-category $(\mathfrak{C},\otimes)$ (called in the paper a Gray semigroup) and show that its first order (unitary) deformations, up to the suitable notion of equivalence, are in one-one correspondence with the elements of the second cohomology group. Fundamental to the construction is a double complex, similar to Gerstenhaber-Schack's double complex for bialgebras. We also identify the cohomologies describing separately the deformations of the tensor product, the associator and the pentagonator. To obtain these results, …
In this paper, we introduce the cohomology theory of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Hom-associative algebras. This cohomology can also be viewed as the Hochschild cohomology of a certain Hom-associative algebra with coefficients in a suitable bimodule. Next, we study infinitesimal and formal deformations of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator and show that they are governed by the above-defined cohomology. Furthermore, the notion of Nijenhuis elements associated with an $\mathcal{O}$-operator is introduced to characterize trivial infinitesimal deformations.
For an affine toric variety $\mathrm{Spec}(A)$, we give a convex geometric description of the Hodge decomposition of its Hochschild cohomology. Under certain assumptions we compute the dimensions of the Hodge summands $T^1_{(i)}(A)$, generalizing the existing results about the Andre-Quillen cohomology group $T^1_{(1)}(A)$. We prove that every Poisson structure on a possibly singular affine toric variety can be quantized in the sense of deformation quantization.
We give a formula for a cocycle generating the Hochschild cohomology of the Weyl algebra with coefficients in its dual.It is given by an integral over the configuration space of ordered points on a circle. Using this formula and a non-commutative version of formal geometry, we obtain an explicit expression for the canonical trace in deformation quantization of symplectic manifolds.
We compare the second adjoint and trivial Leibniz cohomology spaces of a Lie algebra to the usual ones by a very elementary approach. The comparison gives some conditions, which are easy to verify for a given Lie algebra, for deciding whether it has more Leibniz deformations than just the Lie ones. We also give the complete description of a Leibniz (and Lie) versal deformation of the 4-dimensional diamond Lie algebra, and study the case of its 5-dimensional analogue.
The cohomology groups of line bundles over complex tori (or abelian varieties) are classically studied invariants of these spaces. In this article, we compute the cohomology groups of line bundles over various holomorphic, non-commutative deformations of complex tori. Our analysis interpolates between two extreme cases. The first case is a calculation of the space of (cohomological) theta functions for line bundles over constant, commutative deformations. The second case is a calculation of the cohomologies of non-commutative deformations of degree-zero line bundles.
In a classic paper, Gerstenhaber showed that first order deformations of an associative k-algebra A are controlled by the second Hochschild cohomology group of A. More generally, any n-parameter first order deformation of A gives, due to commutativity of the cup-product on Hochschild cohomology, a morphism from the graded algebra Sym(k^n) to Ext^*(A,A), the Ext-algebra in the category of A-bimodules. We prove that any extension of the n-parameter first order deformation of A to an INFINITE ORDER formal deformation provides a canonical `lift' of the graded algebra morphism above to a dg-algebra…
Every rack $Q$ provides a set-theoretic solution $c_Q$ of the Yang-Baxter equation. This article examines the deformation theory of $c_Q$ within the space of Yang-Baxter operators over a ring $\A$, a problem initiated by Freyd and Yetter in 1989. As our main result we classify deformations in the modular case, which had previously been left in suspense, and establish that every deformation of $c_Q$ is gauge-equivalent to a quasi-diagonal one. Stated informally, in a quasi-diagonal deformation only behaviourally equivalent elements interact. In the extreme case, where all elements of $Q$ are be…
We give explicit formulas for maps in a long exact sequence connecting bialgebra cohomology to Hochschild cohomology. We give a sufficient condition for the connecting homomorphism to be surjective. We apply these results to compute all bialgebra two-cocycles of certain Radford biproducts (bosonizations). These two-cocycles are precisely those associated to the finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras in the recent classification of Andruskiewitsch and Schneider, in an interpretation of these Hopf algebras as graded bialgebra deformations of Radford biproducts.
