Given a coalgebra C over a cooperad, and an algebra A over an operad, it is often possible to define a natural homotopy Lie algebra structure on hom(C,A), the space of linear maps between them, called the convolution algebra of C and A. In the present article, we use convolution algebras to define the deformation complex for infinity-morphisms of algebras over operads and coalgebras over cooperads. We also complete the study of the compatibility between convolution algebras and infinity-morphisms of algebras and coalgebras. We prove that the convolution algebra bifunctor can be extended to a bifunctor that accepts infinity-morphisms in both slots and which is well defined up to homotopy, and we generalize and take a new point of view on some other already known results. This paper concludes a series of works by the two authors dealing with the investigation of convolution algebras.
The purpose of this paper is to develop a suitable notion of continuous L_infinity morphism between DG Lie algebras, and to study twists of such morphisms.
Recently the first two authors constructed an L-infinity morphism using the S^1-equivariant version of the Poisson Sigma Model (PSM). Its role in deformation quantization was not entirely clear. We give here a "good" interpretation and show that the resulting formality statement is equivalent to formality on cyclic chains as conjectured by Tsygan and proved recently by several authors.
We prove that, for every compact Kaehler manifold, the period map of its Kuranishi family is induced by a natural L-infinity morphism. This implies, by standard facts about L-infinity algebras, that the period map is a "morphism of deformation theories" and then commutes with all deformation theoretic constructions (e.g. obstructions).
The first goal of this paper is to study the amount of compatibility between two important constructions in the theory of quantized enveloping algebras, namely the canonical basis and the quantum Frobenius morphism. The second goal is to study orders with which the Kashiwara crystal B(infinity) of a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra can be endowed; these orders are defined so that the transition matrices between bases naturally indexed by B(infinity) are lower triangular.
In previous works by the authors, a bifunctor was associated to any operadic twisting morphism, taking a coalgebra over a cooperad and an algebra over an operad, and giving back the space of (graded) linear maps between them endowed with a homotopy Lie algebra structure. We build on this result by using a more general notion of $\infty$-morphism between (co)algebras over a (co)operad associated to a twisting morphism, and show that this bifunctor can be extended to take such $\infty$-morphisms in either one of its two slots. We also provide a counterexample proving that it cannot be coherently…
An analog of Kreimer's coproduct from renormalization of Feynman integrals in quantum field theory, endows an analog of Kontsevich's graph complex with a dg-coalgebra structure. The graph complex is generated by orientation classes of labeled directed graphs. A graded commutative product is also defined, compatible with the coproduct. Moreover, a dg-Hopf algebra is identified. Graph cohomology is defined applying the cobar construction to the dg-coalgebra structure. As an application, L-infinity morphisms represented as series over Feynman graphs correspond to graph cocycles. Notably the total…
Using the BV-formalism of mathematical physics an explicit construction for the minimal model of a quantum L-infinity-algebra is given as a formal super integral. The approach taken herein to these formal integrals is axiomatic; they can be approached using perturbation theory to obtain combinatorial formulae as shown in the appendix. Additionally, there exists a canonical differential graded Lie algebra morphism mapping formal functions on homology to formal functions on the whole space. An L-infinity-algebra morphism inverse to this differential graded Lie algebra morphism on the level of ho…
We construct the deformation functor associated with a pair of morphisms of differential graded Lie algebras, and use it to study infinitesimal deformations of holomorphic maps of compact complex manifolds. In particular, using L-infinity structures, we give an explicit description of the differential graded Lie algebra that controls this problem.
We review several well-known operads of compactified configuration spaces and construct several new such operads, C, in the category of smooth manifolds with corners whose complexes of fundamental chains give us (i) the 2-coloured operad of A-infinity algebras and their homotopy morphisms, (ii) the 2-coloured operad of L-infinity algebras and their homotopy morphisms, and (iii) the 4-coloured operad of open-closed homotopy algebras and their homotopy morphisms. Two gadgets - a (coloured) operad of Feynman graphs and a de Rham field theory on C - are introduced and used to construct quantized r…
It is shown that for any morphism, i: g --> h, of Lie algebras the vector space underlying the Lie algebra h is canonically a g-homogeneous formal manifold with the action of g being highly nonlinear and twisted by Bernoulli numbers. This fact is obtained from the study of a 2-coloured operad of formal homogeneous spaces and its minimal resolution, and is used to give a new conceptual explanation of both Ziv Ran's Jacobi-Bernoulli complex and Fiorenza-Manetti's L-infinity algebra structure on the mapping cone of a morphism of two Lie algebras. All these constructions are iteratively extended t…
In this paper we define and study convolution products for modules over certain families of VV algebras. We go on to study morphisms between these products which yield solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation so that in fact these morphisms are $R$-matrices. We study the properties that these $R$-matrices have with respect to simple modules with the hope that this is a first step towards determining the existence of a (quantum) cluster algebra structure on a natural quotient of $\mathcal{B}_θ(\mathfrak{g})$, the $\mathbb{Q}(v)$-algebra defined by Enomoto and Kashiwara, which the VV algebras categ…
We present a method to construct explicitly L-infinity algebras governing simultaneous deformations of various kinds of algebraic structures and of their morphisms. It is an alternative to the heavy use of the operad machinery of the existing approaches. Our method relies on Voronov's derived bracket construction.
We show that the mapping cone of a morphism of differential graded Lie algebras $χ\colon L\to M$ can be canonically endowed with an $L_\infty$-algebra structure which at the same time lifts the Lie algebra structure on $L$ and the usual differential on the mapping cone. Moreover, this structure is unique up to isomorphisms of $L_\infty$-algebras. The associated deformation functor coincides with the one introduced by the second author in arXiv:math.AG/0507287.
In this thesis we give a construction of cyclic cocycles on convolution algebras twisted by gerbes over discrete translation groupoids. In his seminal book, Connes constructs a map from the equivariant cohomology of a manifold carrying the action of a discrete group into the periodic cyclic cohomology of the associated convolution algebra. Furthermore, for proper étale groupoids, J.-L. Tu and P. Xu provide a map between the periodic cyclic cohomology of a gerbe twisted convolution algebra and twisted cohomology groups. Our focus will be the convolution algebra with a product defined by a gerbe…
In this paper we prove an inverse function theorem in derived differential geometry. More concretely, we show that a morphism of curved $L_\infty$ spaces which is a quasi-isomorphism at a point has a local homotopy inverse. This theorem simultaneously generalizes the inverse function theorem for smooth manifolds and the Whitehead theorem for $L_\infty$ algebras. The main ingredients are the obstruction theory for $L_\infty$ homomorphisms (in the curved setting) and the homotopy transfer theorem for curved $L_\infty$ algebras. Both techniques work in the $A_\infty$ case as well.
A braided category of C*-algebras is constructed. Its objects are C*-algebras endowed with an action of the group R, its morphisms are C*-algebras morphisms intertwining the action of R, the crossed product of its two objects essentially depends on the action of R on considered C*-algebras. Crossed products of any object with the algebra of all continuous vanishing at infinity functions on R and algebras of all continuous functions on one- and twodimensional tori are discussed.
We present a definition of homotopy algebra for an operad, and explore its consequences. The paper should be accessible to topologists, category theorists, and anyone acquainted with operads. After a review of operads and monoidal categories, the definition of homotopy algebra is given. Specifically, suppose that M is a monoidal category in which it makes sense to talk about algebras for some operad P. Then our definition says what a homotopy P-algebra in M is, provided only that some of the morphisms in M have been marked out as `homotopy equivalences'. The bulk of the paper consists of examp…
L-infinity morphisms are studied from the point of view of perturbative quantum field theory, as generalizations of Feynman expansions. The connection with the Hopf algebra approach to renormalization is exploited. Using the coalgebra structure (Forest Formula), the weights of the corresponding expansions are proved to be cycles of the DG-coalgebra of Feynman graphs. The properties of integrals over configuration spaces (Feynman integrals) are investigated. The aim is to develop a cohomological approach in order to construct the coefficients of formality morphisms using an algebraic machinery,…
This thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is composed of recollections on operad theory, model categories, simplicial homotopy theory, rational homotopy theory, Maurer-Cartan spaces, and deformation theory. The second part deals with the theory of convolution algebras and some of their applications, as explained below. Suppose we are given a type of algebras, a type of coalgebras, and a relationship between those types of algebraic structures (encoded by an operad, a cooperad, and a twisting morphism respectively). Then, it is possible to endow the space of linear maps from a coalge…
For every compact Kaehler manifold we give a canonical extension of Griffith's period map to generalized deformations, intended as solutions of Maurer-Cartan equation in the algebra of polyvector fields. Our construction involves the notion of Cartan homotopy and a canonical L-infinity structure on mapping cones of morphisms of differential graded Lie algebras.
We give a construction of cyclic cocycles on convolution algebras twisted by gerbes over discrete translation groupoids. For proper étale groupoids, Tu and Xu provide a map between the periodic cyclic cohomology of a gerbe-twisted convolution algebra and twisted cohomology groups which is similar to a construction of Mathai and Stevenson. When the groupoid is not proper, we cannot construct an invariant connection on the gerbe; therefore to study this algebra, we instead develop simplicial techniques to construct a simplicial curvature 3-form representing the class of the gerbe. Then by using …
Motivated by recent developments of $\infty$-categorical theories related to differential graded (dg for short) Lie algebras, we develop a general framework for locally finite $\infty$-$\mathfrak{g}$-modules over a dg Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. We show that the category of such locally finite $\infty$-$\mathfrak{g}$-modules is almost a model category in the sense of Vallette. As a homotopy theoretical generalization of Loday and Pirashvili's Lie algebra objects in the tensor category of linear maps, we further study weak Loday-Pirashvili modules consisting of $\infty$-morphisms from locally f…
The transfer of the generating operations of an algebra to a homotopy equivalent chain complex produces higher operations. The first goal of this paper is to describe precisely the higher structure obtained when the unary operations commute with the contracting homotopy. To solve this problem, we develop the Koszul duality theory of operads in the category of modules over a cocommutative Hopf algebra. This gives rise to a simpler category of homotopy algebras and infinity-morphisms, which allows us to get a new description of the homotopy category of algebras over such operads. The main exampl…
Kontsevich's formality theorem states that the differential graded Lie algebra of multidifferential operators on a manifold M is L-infinity-quasi-isomorphic to its cohomology. The construction of the L-infinity map is given in terms of integrals of differential forms on configuration spaces of points in the upper half-plane. Here we consider configuration spaces of points in the disk and work equivariantly with respect to the rotation group. This leads to considering the differential graded Lie algebra of multivector fields endowed with a divergence operator. In the case of R^d with standard v…
