The strong homotopy Lie algebra, controlling simultaneous deformations of a morphism of associative algebras and its domain and codomain is constructed. Isomorphism of the cohomology of this strong homotopy Lie algebra with the classical construction is shown.
$G_\infty$-structure is shown to exist on the deformation complex of a morphism of associative algebras. The main step of the construction is extension of a $B_\infty$-algebra by an associative algebra. Actions of $B_\infty$-algebras on associative and $B_\infty$-algebras are analyzed, extensions of $B_\infty$-algebras by associative and $B_\infty$-algebras, that they act upon, are constructed. The resulting $G_\infty$-algebra on the deformation complex of a morphism is shown to be quasi-isomorphic to the $G_\infty$-algebra on deformation complex of the corresponding diagram algebra.
In a classic paper, Gerstenhaber showed that first order deformations of an associative k-algebra A are controlled by the second Hochschild cohomology group of A. More generally, any n-parameter first order deformation of A gives, due to commutativity of the cup-product on Hochschild cohomology, a morphism from the graded algebra Sym(k^n) to Ext^*(A,A), the Ext-algebra in the category of A-bimodules. We prove that any extension of the n-parameter first order deformation of A to an INFINITE ORDER formal deformation provides a canonical `lift' of the graded algebra morphism above to a dg-algebra…
We realize the infinitesimal Abel-Jacobi map as a morphism of formal deformation theories, realized as a morphism in the homotopy category of differential graded Lie algebras. The whole construction is carried out in a general setting, of which the classical Abel-Jacobi map is a special example.
We compute the second Hochschild cohomology space $HH^2(\mathcal{H}_1)$ of Connes-Moscovici's Hopf algebra $\mathcal{H}_1$, giving the infinitesimal deformations (up to equivalence) of the associative structure. $HH^2(\mathcal{H}_1)$ is shown to be one dimensional, and thus Connes-Moscovici's formal deformation of $\mathcal{H}_1$ using Rankin-Cohen brackets is unique up to equivalence.
It is shown that for any morphism, i: g --> h, of Lie algebras the vector space underlying the Lie algebra h is canonically a g-homogeneous formal manifold with the action of g being highly nonlinear and twisted by Bernoulli numbers. This fact is obtained from the study of a 2-coloured operad of formal homogeneous spaces and its minimal resolution, and is used to give a new conceptual explanation of both Ziv Ran's Jacobi-Bernoulli complex and Fiorenza-Manetti's L-infinity algebra structure on the mapping cone of a morphism of two Lie algebras. All these constructions are iteratively extended t…
We continue our study on infinitesimal lifting properties of maps between locally noetherian formal schemes started in math.AG/0604241. In this paper, we focus on some properties which arise specifically in the formal context. In this vein, we make a detailed study of the relationship between the infinitesimal lifting properties of a morphism of formal schemes and those of the corresponding maps of usual schemes associated to the directed systems that define the corresponding formal schemes. Among our main results, we obtain the characterization of completion morphisms as pseudo-closed immersi…
We show that given a dominant morphism between two smooth varieties of the same dimension, the induced morphism between the formal neighborhoods of two arcs on these varieties is a closed embedding, of codimension given by the order of vanishing along the ramification subscheme.
We make a systematic study of the infinitesimal lifting conditions of a pseudo finite type map of noetherian formal schemes. We recover the usual general properties in this context, and, more importantly, we uncover some new phenomena. We define a completion map of formal schemes as the one that arises canonically by performing the completion of a noetherian formal scheme along a subscheme, following the well-known pattern of ordinary schemes. These maps are etale in the sense of this work (but not adic). They allow us to give a local description of smooth morphisms. This morphisms can be fact…
We prove formal GAGA for good moduli space morphisms under an assumption of "enough vector bundles" (which holds for instance for quotient stacks). This supports the philosophy that though they are non-separated, good moduli space morphisms largely behave like proper morphisms.
Relations between some kinds of formal and standard smoothness, for morphisms of schemes, are clarified in surprisingly simple and direct ways, bypassing much of the customarily employed machinery. Even the deep local-to-global property of formal smoothness has a fairly elementary proof, under mild additional hypotheses.
The theorem of Greenberg-Kazhdan-Drinfeld describes the formal neighborhood of a closed arc. After giving a complete proof with examples, two possible versions for the relative case of the theorem are discussed. Each one is shown to hold for some classes of morphisms, including smooth morphisms and closed embeddings in smooth variety.
We set up the geometric background necessary to extend rigid cohomology from the case of algebraic varieties to the case of general locally noetherian formal schemes. In particular, we generalize Berthelot's strong fibration theorem to adic spaces: we show that if we are given a morphism of locally noetherian formal schemes which is partially proper and formally smooth around a formal subscheme, and we pull back along a morphism from an analytic space which is locally of noetherian type, then we obtain locally a fibration on strict neighborhoods.
This a first step to develop a theory of smooth, etale and unramified morphisms between noetherian formal schemes. Our main tool is the complete module of differentials, that is a coherent sheaf whenever the map of formal schemes is of pseudo finite type. Among our results we show that these infinitesimal properties of a map of usual schemes carry over into the completion with respect to suitable closed subsets. We characterize unramifiedness by the vanishing of the module of differentials. Also we see that a smooth morphism of noetherian formal schemes is flat and its module of differentials …
In their previous work, S. Koenig, S. Ovsienko and the second author showed that every quasi-hereditary algebra is Morita equivalent to the right algebra, i.e. the opposite algebra of the left dual, of a coring. Let $A$ be an associative algebra and $V$ an $A$-coring whose right algebra $R$ is quasi-hereditary. In this paper, we give a combinatorial description of an associative algebra $B$ and a $B$-coring $W$ whose right algebra is the Ringel dual of $R$. We apply our results in small examples to obtain restrictions on the $A_\infty$-structure of the $\textrm{Ext}$-algebra of standard module…
In this survey paper we study the relationships between the coarse moduli space which parameterizes the finite dimensional linear representations of an associative alegebra, the non commutative hilbert scheme and the affine scheme which is the spectrum of the abelianization of algebra of the divided powers. In particular we will show a map which specialize to the Hlibert - Chow morphism when the associative algebra is commutative. The extension to the positive characteristic case of some of the results due to L. Le Bruyn on noncommutative desingularization is outlined. The possibility to use o…
We show that the weakly étale morphisms, used to define the pro-étale site of a scheme, are characterized by a lifting property similar to the one which characterizes formally étale morphisms. In order to prove this, we prove a theorem called Henselian descent which is a "Henselized version" of the fact that a scheme defines a sheaf for the fpqc topology. Finally, we show that weakly étale algebras over regular rings arising in geometry are ind-étale and that weakly étale algebras do not always lift along surjective ring homomorphisms.
In 2014, Voronov introduced the notion of thick morphisms of (super)manifolds as a tool for constructing $L_{\infty}$-morphisms of homotopy Poisson algebras. Thick morphisms generalise ordinary smooth maps, but are not maps themselves. Nevertheless, they induce pull-backs on $C^{\infty}$ functions. These pull-backs are in general non-linear maps between the algebras of functions which are so-called 'non-linear homomorphisms'. By definition, this means that their differentials are algebra homomorphisms in the usual sense. The following conjecture was formulated: an arbitrary non-linear homomorp…
We develop the notion of deformation of a morphism in a left-proper model category. As an application we provide a geometric/homotopic description of deformations of commutative (non-positively) graded differential algebras over a local DG-Artin ring.
