Let $\g\_2$ be the Hochschild complex of cochains on $C^\infty(\RM^n)$ and $\g\_1$ be the space of multivector fields on $\RM^n$. In this paper we prove that given any $G\_\infty$-structure ({\rm i.e.} Gerstenhaber algebra up to homotopy structure) on $\g\_2$, and any $C\_\infty$-morphism $ϕ$ ({\rm i.e.} morphism of commutative, associative algebra up to homotopy) between $\g\_1$ and $\g\_2$, there exists a $G\_\infty$-morphism $Φ$ between $\g\_1$ and $\g\_2$ that restricts to $ϕ$. We also show that any $L\_\infty$-morphism ({\rm i.e.} morphism of Lie algebra up to homotopy), in particular the one constructed by Kontsevich, can be deformed into a $G\_\infty$-morphism, using Tamarkin's method for any $G\_\infty$-structure on $\g\_2$. We also show that any two of such $G\_\infty$-morphisms are homotopic.
We construct a configuration space model for a particular 2-colored differential graded operad encoding the structure of two $A_\infty$ algebras with two $A_\infty$ morphisms and a homotopy between the morphisms. The cohomology of this operad is shown to be the well-known 2-colored operad encoding the structure of two associative algebras and of an associative algebra morphism between them.
The global formality of Dolgushev depends on the choice of a torsion-free covariant derivative. We prove that the globalized formalities with respect to two different covariant derivatives are homotopic. More explicitly, we derive the statement by proving a more general homotopy equivalence between $L_\infty$-morphisms that are twisted with gauge equivalent Maurer-Cartan elements.
In this review we give a detailed introduction to the theory of (curved) $L_\infty$-algebras and $L_\infty$-morphisms. In particular, we recall the notion of (curved) Maurer-Cartan elements, their equivalence classes and the twisting procedure. The main focus is then the study of the homotopy theory of $L_\infty$-algebras and $L_\infty$-modules. In particular, one can interpret $L_\infty$-morphisms and morphisms of $L_\infty$-modules as Maurer-Cartan elements in certain $L_\infty$-algebras, and we show that twisting the morphisms with equivalent Maurer-Cartan elements yields homotopic morphism…
$G_\infty$-structure is shown to exist on the deformation complex of a morphism of associative algebras. The main step of the construction is extension of a $B_\infty$-algebra by an associative algebra. Actions of $B_\infty$-algebras on associative and $B_\infty$-algebras are analyzed, extensions of $B_\infty$-algebras by associative and $B_\infty$-algebras, that they act upon, are constructed. The resulting $G_\infty$-algebra on the deformation complex of a morphism is shown to be quasi-isomorphic to the $G_\infty$-algebra on deformation complex of the corresponding diagram algebra.
We show how to integrate a weak morphism of Lie algebra crossed-modules to a weak morphism of Lie 2-groups. To do so we develop a theory of butterflies for 2-term L_infty algebras. In particular, we obtain a new description of the bicategory of 2-term L_infty algebras. We use butterflies to give a functorial construction of connected covers of Lie 2-groups. We also discuss the notion of homotopy fiber of a morphism of 2-term L_infty algebras.
In previous works by the authors, a bifunctor was associated to any operadic twisting morphism, taking a coalgebra over a cooperad and an algebra over an operad, and giving back the space of (graded) linear maps between them endowed with a homotopy Lie algebra structure. We build on this result by using a more general notion of $\infty$-morphism between (co)algebras over a (co)operad associated to a twisting morphism, and show that this bifunctor can be extended to take such $\infty$-morphisms in either one of its two slots. We also provide a counterexample proving that it cannot be coherently…
Functorial properties of the correspondence between commutative BV$_\infty$-algebras and L$_\infty$-algebras are investigated. The category of L$_\infty$-algebras with L$_\infty$-morphisms is characterized as a certain category of pure BV$_\infty$-algebras with pure BV$_\infty$-morphisms. The functor assigning to a commutative BV$_\infty$-algebra the L$_\infty$-algebra given by higher derived brackets is also shown to have a left adjoint. Cieliebak-Fukaya-Latschev's machinery of IBL$_\infty$- and BV$_\infty$-morphisms is further developed with introducing the logarithm of a map.
Let $E^*$ be a finite complex of locally free sheaves on a complex manifold $X$. We prove that to every connection of type $(1,0)$ on $E^*$ it is canonically associated an $L_{\infty}$ morphism $g\colon A^{0, *}_X(\mathcal{H}om^*_{O_X}(E^*,E^*))\to \dfrac{A^{*,*}_X}{A^{\ge 2,*}_X}[2]$ that lifts the 1-component of Buchweitz-Flenner semiregularity map. An application to deformations of coherent sheaves on projective manifolds is given.
The monoidal category of twisted modules of a Vertex Operator Algebra $V$ is defined and reduced to its 2-group of invertible objects $G_α$, which can be described by a 3-cocycle $α$ on its 0-truncation $G$ with values in the group of units $A$ of the field of definition of $V$ serving as its associator. This cocycle also presents the classifying morphism of an $\infty$-group extension of $G$ by the delooping $BA$. Motivated by this, it is proven that the $\infty$-group extension classified by a 3-cocycle $α$ is presented by the skeletal 2-group $G_α$ with associator $α$. The results are discu…
"Thick" or "microformal" morphisms of supermanifolds generalize ordinary maps. They were discovered as a tool for homotopy algebras. Namely, the corresponding pullbacks provide $L_{\infty}$-morphisms for $S_{\infty}$ or Batalin--Vilkovisky algebras. It was clear from the start that constructions used for thick morphisms closely resemble some fundamental notions in quantum mechanics and their classical limits (such as action, Schrödinger and Hamilton--Jacobi equations, etc.) There was also a natural question about any connection of thick morphisms with spinor representation. We answer both ques…
A well-known result of A. Vaintrob characterizes Lie algebroids and their morphisms in terms of homological vector fields on supermanifolds. We give an interpretation of Lie bialgebroids and their morphisms in terms of odd symplectic dg-manifolds, building on the approach of D. Roytenberg. This extends naturally to the homotopy Lie case and leads to the notion of $L_\infty$-bialgebroids and $L_\infty$-morphisms between them.

We categorify Lusztig's version of the quantized enveloping algebra for sl(2). Using a graphical calculus a 2-category is constructed whose split Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to Lusztig's algebra. The indecomposable morphisms of this 2-category lift Lusztig's canonical basis, and the Homs between 1-morphisms are graded lifts of a semilinear form defined on quantum sl(2). Graded lifts of various homomorphisms and antihomomorphisms of Lusztig's algebra arise naturally in the context of our graphical calculus. Using iterated flag varieties, a representation of the 2-category is constructed for…
In this paper we develop the $A_\infty$-analog of the Maurer-Cartan simplicial set associated to an $L_\infty$-algebra and show how we can use this to study the deformation theory of $\infty$-morphisms of algebras over non-symmetric operads. More precisely, we define a functor from the category of (curved) $A_\infty$-algebras to simplicial sets which sends an $A_\infty$-algebra to the associated simplicial set of Maurer-Cartan elements. This functor has the property that it gives a Kan complex. We also show that this functor can be used to study deformation problems over a field of characteris…
Let $\g_1$ and $\g_2$ be two dg Lie algebras, then it is well-known that the $L_\infty$ morphisms from $\g_1$ to $\g_2$ are in 1-1 correspondence to the solutions of the Maurer-Cartan equation in some dg Lie algebra $\Bbbk(\g_1,\g_2)$. Then the gauge action by exponents of the zero degree component $\Bbbk(\g_1,\g_2)^0$ on $MC\subset\Bbbk(\g_1,\g_2)^1$ gives an explicit "homotopy relation" between two $L_\infty$ morphisms. We prove that the quotient category by this relation (that is, the category whose objects are $L_\infty$ algebras and morphisms are $L_\infty$ morphisms modulo the gauge rela…
We extend the Kontsevich formality $L_\infty$-morphism $\U\colon T^\ndot_\poly(\R^d)\to\D^\ndot_\poly(\R^d)$ to an $L_\infty$-morphism of an $L_\infty$-modules over $T^\ndot_\poly(\R^d)$, $\hat \U\colon C_\ndot(A,A)\toΩ^\ndot(\R^d)$, $A=C^\infty(\R^d)$. The construction of the map $\hat \U$ is given in Kontsevich-type integrals. The conjecture that such an $L_\infty$-morphism exists is due to Boris Tsygan \cite{Ts}. As an application, we obtain an explicit formula for isomorphism $A_*/[A_*,A_*]\simto A/\{A,A\}$ ($A_*$ is the Kontsevich deformation quantization of the algebra $A$ by a Poisson b…
The settings for homotopical algebra---categories such as simplicial groups, simplicial rings, $A_\infty$ spaces, $E_\infty$ ring spectra, etc.---are often equivalent to categories of algebras over some monad or triple $T$. In such cases, $T$ is acting on a nice simplicial model category in such a way that $T$ descends to a monad on the homotopy category and defines a category of homotopy $T$-algebras. In this setting there is a forgetful functor from the homotopy category of $T$-algebras to the category of homotopy $T$-algebras. Under suitable hypotheses we provide an obstruction theory, in t…
The perturbative path-integral gives a morphism of the (quantum) $A_{\infty }$ structure intrinsic to each quantum field theory, which we show explicitly on the basis of the homological perturbation. As is known, in the BV formalism, any effective action also solves the BV master equation, which implies that the path-integral can be understood as a morphism of the BV differential. Since each solution of the BV master equation is in one-to-one correspondence with a (quantum) $A_{\infty }$ structure, the path-integral preserves this intrinsic $A_{\infty }$ structure of quantum field theory, wher…
In this paper we propose a reduction scheme for multivector fields phrased in terms of $L_\infty$-morphisms. Using well-know geometric properties of the reduced manifolds we perform a Taylor expansion of multivector fields, which allows us to built up a suitable deformation retract of DGLA's. We first obtained an explicit formula for the $L_\infty$-Projection and -Inclusion of generic DGLA retracts. We then applied this formula to the deformation retract that we constructed in the case of multivector fields on reduced manifolds. This allows us to obtain the desired reduction $L_\infty$-morphis…
Let $I: L' \to L$ be a morphism of $L_\infty$-algebras. The goal of this paper is to describe restriction of scalars in the setting of $L_\infty$-modules and prove that it defines a functor $I^*: L\text{-mod} \to L'\text{-mod}$. A more abstract approach to this problem was recently given by Kraft-Schnitzer. In a subsequent paper, this result is applied to show that there is a well-defined $L_\infty$-module structure on the sutured annular Khovanov homology of a link in a thickened annulus.
