The paper is accepted for publication in TAMS. Definitions 4.1 and 4.3 changed, making the integral operator $I$ zero if the parametrized function is not integrable for all parameters, where as before it was zero only in those parameters where the function is not integrable
We prove a conjecture of Denef on parameterized $p$-adic analytic integrals using an analytic cell decomposition theorem, which we also prove in this paper. This cell decomposition theorem describes piecewise the valuation of analytic functions (and more generally of subanalytic functions), the pieces being geometrically simple sets, called cells. We also classify subanalytic sets up to subanalytic bijection.
A semialgebraic bijection from the field of p-adic numbers to itself minus one point is constructed. Semialgebraic p-adic sets are classified up to semialgebraic bijection. A cell decomposition theorem for restricted analytic p-adic maps is proven, in analogy with the cell decomposition theorem for polynomial maps by Denef. This cell decomposition is used to show that a certain algebra (built up with analytic and subanalytic p-adic functions) is closed under p-adic integration. This solves a conjecture of Denef on parametrized analytic p-adic integrals. Local (analytic) singular series are sho…
We prove a Hodge-type decomposition for the de-Rham cohomology of $ p$-adically uniformized varieties by the product of Drinfeld's symmetric spaces. It is based on work of Schneider, Stuhler, Iovita and Spiess on the cohomology of Drinfeld's symmetric space.
A polynomial of degree $\ge 2$ with coefficients in the ring of $p$-adic numbers $\mathbb{Z}_p$ is studied as a dynamical system on $\mathbb{Z}_p$. It is proved that the dynamical behavior of such a system is totally described by its minimal subsystems. For an arbitrary quadratic polynomial on $\mathbb{Z}_2$, we exhibit all its minimal subsystems.
Let G be the group of k-points of a connected reductive k-group and H a symmetric subgroup associated to an involution s of G. We prove a polar decomposition G=KAH for the symmetric space G/H over any local field k of characteristic not 2. Here K is a compact subset of G and A is a finite union of the groups of k-points of maximal (k,s)-split tori, one for each H-conjugacy class. This decomposition is analogous to the well-known polar decomposition G=KAH for a real symmetric space G/H.
We show that the class of $\mathcal{L}$-constructible functions is closed under integration for any $P$-minimal expansion of a $p$-adic field $(K,\mathcal{L})$. This generalizes results previously known for semi-algebraic and sub-analytic structures. As part of the proof, we obtain a weak version of cell decomposition and function preparation for $P$-minimal structures, a result which is independent of the existence of Skolem functions. %The result is obtained from weak versions of cell decomposition and function preparation which we prove for general $P$-minimal structures. A direct corollary…
In this paper, we formulate and prove the so-called $p$-adic non-commutative analytic subgroup theorem. This result is seen as the $p$-adic analogue of a recent theorem given by Yafaev.
The aim of this paper is to prove conjectures concerning $p$-adic valuations of Stirling numbers of the second kind $S(n,k)$, $n,k\in\mathbb{N}_+$, stated by Amdeberhan, Manna and Moll and Berrizbeitia et al., where $p$ is a prime number. The proof is based on elementary facts from $p$-adic analysis.
We study the functor of Weil restriction in the category of Huber's adic spaces and in the category of Berkovich spaces. We prove criteria for the representability of these functors in the respective categories. As an application of adic Weil restrictions, we prove that adic Néron models behave well with respect to tamely ramified base change.
We prove a p-adic analogue of Wüstholz's analytic subgroup theorem. We apply this result to show that a curve embedded in its Jacobian intersects the p-adic closure of the Mordell-Weil group transversely whenever the latter has rank equal to 1. This allows us to give some theoretical justification to Chabauty techniques applied to finding rational points on curves whose Jacobian has Mordel-Weil group of rank 1.
This paper develops various foundational results in the locally analytic representation theory of p-adic groups. In particular, we define the functor ``pass to locally analytic vectors'', which attaches to any continuous representation of a p-adic analytic group on a locally convex p-adic topological vector space the associated space of locally analytic vectors. Using this functor, and the point of view that its construction suggests, we establish some basic facts about admissible locally analytic representations (as defined by Schneider and Teitelbaum). We also introduce the related notion of…
The Fourier coefficients of the Siegel-Eisenstein series are p-adically continued for all primes p, as meromorphic functions, using the reciprocal of a product of L-functions. A construction of p-adic meromorphic families of such series is given in relation to the geometry of homogeneous spaces. Applications are given to p-adic L-functions, to Siegel's Mass Formula, to p-adic analytic families of automorphic representations. Let K be a p-adic field, and suppose that f and g are germs of analytic functions on K which are tangent to the identity at 0. It is known that f and g are homeomorphically equivalent, meaning there is an invertible germ h conjugating f to g. In this paper, we determine whether there exists such h which are lipeomorphisms, and moreover find the best possible Holder estimate at 0. Our results have striking complex and real counterparts.
This article gives a new proof of the fundamental lemma of the "weakly admissible implies admissible" theorem of Colmez-Fontaine that describes the semi-stable p-adic representations. To this end, we introduce the category of spectral Banach spaces, which are p-adic Banach spaces with a C_p-algebra of analytic functions, and the subcategory of effective Banach-Colmez spaces. The fundamental lemma states the surjectivity of certain analytic maps and describes their kernel. It is proven by an explicit count of solutions of the equations defining these maps. It is equivalent to the existence of f…
We use a $p$-adic analogue of the analytic subgroup theorem of Wüstholz to deduce the transcendence and linear independence of some new classes of $p$-adic numbers. In particular we give $p$-adic analogues of results of Wüstholz contained in [G. Wüstholz, Some remarks on a conjecture of Waldschmidt, Diophantine approximations and transcendental numbers, Progress in Mathematics 31, Birkhäuser Boston, Boston, MA, (1983), 329-336] and generalizations of results obtained by Bertrand in [D. Bertrand, Sous-groupes à un paramètre $p$-adique de variétés de groupe, Invent. Math. 40 (1977), no. 2, 171-1…
We propose a definition of characters in the context of Schneider-Teitelbaum's theory of locally analytic representations of p-adic reductive groups. This character will be a function on a compact subgroup of a maximal torus of the reductive group in question. As an example we treat the locally analytic principal series of SL(2,Q_p).
Suppose that p > 5 is a rational prime. Starting from a well-known p-adic analytic family of ordinary elliptic cusp forms of level p due to Hida, we construct a certain p-adic analytic family of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of arbitrary even genus and of level p associated with Hida's p-adic analytic family via the Duke-Imamoglu lifting provided by Ikeda. Moreover, we also give a similar results for the Siegel Eisenstein series of even genus with trivial Nebentypus.
We give a survey of Denef's rationality theorem on $p$-adic integrals, its uniform in $p$ versions, the relevant model theory, and a number of applications to counting subgroups of finitely generated nilpotent groups and conjugacy classes in congruence quotients of Chevalley groups over rings of integers of local fields. We then state results on analytic properties of Euler products of such $p$-adic integrals over all $p$, and an application to counting conjugacy classes in congruence quotients of certain algebraic groups over the rationals. We then briefly discuss zeta functions arising from …
We develop the theory of locally analytic representations of compact $p$-adic Lie groups from the perspective of the theory of condensed mathematics of Clausen and Scholze. As an application, we generalise Lazard's isomorphisms between continuous, locally analytic and Lie algebra cohomology to solid representations. We also prove a comparison result between the group cohomology of a solid representation and of its analytic vectors.
Suppose that p > 5 is a rational prime. Starting from a well-known p-adic analytic family of ordinary elliptic cusp forms of level p due to Hida, we construct a certain p-adic analytic family of holomorphic Siegel cusp forms of arbitrary even genus and of level p associated with Hida's p-adic analytic family via the Duke-Imamoglu lifting which has been established by Ikeda. Moreover, we also give a similar results for the Siegel Eisenstein series of even genus with trivial Nebentypus.
We compute, in a stable range, the arithmetic p-adic etale cohomology of smooth rigid analytic and dagger varieties (without any assumption on the existence of a nice integral model) in terms of differential forms using syntomic methods. The main technical input is a construction of a Hyodo-Kato cohomology and a Hyodo-Kato isomorphism with de Rham cohomology.
It is well-known that the Wüstholz' analytic subgroup theorem is one of the most powerful theorems in transcendence theory. The theorem gives in a very systematic and conceptual way the transcendence of a large class of complex numbers, e.g. the transcendence of $π$ which is originally due to Lindemann. In this paper we revisit the $p$-adic analogue of the analytic subgroup theorem and present a proof based on the method described and developed by the authors in a recent related paper.
In this note, we will consider the question of local equivalence of analytic functions which fix the origin and are tangent to the identity, as well as the question of flows of analytic vector fields. All mappings and equivalences are considered in the non-archimedean context e.g. all norms can be considered $p$-adic norms. We show that any two mappings $f$ and $g$ which are formally equivalent are also analytically equivalent, and we show that analytic vector fields generate analytic flows. We consider the related questions of roots and centralizers for analytic mappings. In this setting, any…
We prove recurrence relations and modulo periodic properties of multiple derivatives of Fibonacci polynomials. We apply the obtained results to present the dynamic structures of Fibonacci polynomials over the ring of 2-adic integers by investigating minimal decompositions which consist of minimal subsystems and attracting basins.
This article is the first one of a series aiming to construct an isomorphism between the p-adic Lubin-Tate and Drinfeld towers, describe this isomorphism and give applications. We construct a p-adic equivariant integral model of the Lubin-Tate tower with infinite level. This formal scheme will be later compared to another one associated to the Drinfeld tower.
Let $H \subseteq G$ be an inclusion of $p$-adic Lie groups. When $H$ is normal or even subnormal in $G$, the Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence implies that any continuous $G$-module whose $H$-cohomology vanishes in all degrees also has vanishing $G$-cohomology. With an eye towards applications in $p$-adic Hodge theory, we extend this to some cases where $H$ is not subnormal, assuming that the $G$-action is analytic in the sense of Lazard.
We study the theory of finite-order p-adic functions and distributions on ray class groups of number fields, and apply this to the construction of (possibly unbounded) p-adic L-functions for automorphic forms on GL(2) which may be non-ordinary at the primes above p. As a consequence, we obtain a "plus-minus" decomposition of the p-adic L-functions of automorphic forms for GL(2) over an imaginary quadratic field with p split and Hecke eigenvalues 0 at the primes above p, confirming a conjecture of B.D. Kim.
Given a compact p-adic Lie group G over a finite unramified extension L/Q_p let G_0 be the product over all Galois conjugates of G. We construct an exact and faithful functor from admissible G-Banach space representations to admissible locally L-analytic G_0-representations that coincides with passage to analytic vectors in case L=Q_p. On the other hand, we study the functor "passage to analytic vectors" and its derived functors over general basefields. As an application we determine the higher analytic vectors in certain locally analytic induced representations.
Let $\mathbf{B}(V)$ be the admissible unitary $GL_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$-representation associated to two dimensional crystalline Galois representation $V$ by $p$-adic Langlands constructed by Breuil. Berger and Breuil conjectured an explicit description of the locally analytic vectors $\mathbf{B}(V)_{\mathrm{la}}$ of $\mathbf{B}(V)$ which is now proved by Liu. Emerton recently studied $p$-adic representations from the viewpoint of rigid analytic geometry. In this article, we consider certain rigid analytic subgroups of $GL(2)$ and give an explicit description of the rigid analytic vectors in $\math…
In this paper, we study finite projective differential modules on $p$-adic polyannuli satisfying the Robba condition. Christol and Mebkhout proved the decomposition theorem (the $p$-adic Fuchs theorem) of such differential modules on one dimensional $p$-adic annuli under certain non-Liouvilleness assumption and Gachet generalized it to higher dimensional cases. On the other hand, Kedlaya proved a generalization of the $p$-adic Fuchs theorem in one dimensional case. We prove Kedlaya's generalized version of $p$-adic Fuchs theorem in higher dimensional cases.
A non-trivial finitely generated pro-$p$ group $G$ is said to be strongly hereditarily self-similar of index $p$ if every non-trivial finitely generated closed subgroup of $G$ admits a faithful self-similar action on a $p$-ary tree. We classify the solvable torsion-free $p$-adic analytic pro-$p$ groups of dimension less than $p$ that are strongly hereditarily self-similar of index $p$. Moreover, we show that a solvable torsion-free $p$-adic analytic pro-$p$ group of dimension less than $p$ is strongly hereditarily self-similar of index $p$ if and only if it is isomorphic to the maximal pro-$p$…
We give proofs of de Rham comparison isomorphisms for rigid-analytic varieties, with coefficients and in families. This relies on the theory of perfectoid spaces. Another new ingredient is the pro-etale site, which makes all constructions completely functorial.
We prove that the canonical dimension of a coadmissible representation of a semisimple $p$-adic Lie group in a $p$-adic Banach space is either zero or at least half the dimension of a non-zero coadjoint orbit. To do this we establish analogues for $p$-adically completed enveloping algebras of Bernstein's inequality for modules over Weyl algebras, the Beilinson-Bernstein localisation theorem and Quillen's Lemma about the endomorphism ring of a simple module over an enveloping algebra.
Let F be a number field with adele ring A_F, and πan isobaric, algebraic automorphic representation of GL_4(A_F) of a fixed archimedean weight, which is quasi-regular, meaning that at every archimedean place v of F, the 4-dimensional representation σ_v of the Weil group W_{F_v} attached to π_v is multiplicity free. Suppose there is an associated 4-dimensional, Hodge-Tate p-adic representation ρof the absolute Galois group G_F, whose local L-factors agree with those of π(up to a shift) at almost all primes P of F. Then our first result is that the semisimplification of ρdoes not contain any irr…
With respect to the analytic-algebraic dichotomy, the theory of Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight is lopsided; the analytic theory is strong whereas the algebraic lags behind. In this paper, we capitalise on this to establish the fundamental object needed for the analytic side of the Iwasawa main conjecture -- the $p$-adic $L$-function obtained by interpolating the complex $L$-function at special values. This is achieved through the Rankin-Selberg method and the explicit Fourier expansion of non-holomorphic Siegel Eisenstein series. The construction of the $p$-stabilisation in this …
We study the asymptotic growth of Betti numbers in tower of finite covers and provide simple proofs of approximation results, which were previously obtained by Calegari-Emerton, in the generality of arbitrary p-adic analytic towers of covers. Further, we also obtain partial results about arbitrary pro-$p$ towers.
We study Kato and Perrin-Riou's critical slope p-adic L-function attached to an ordinary modular form, using the methods of our earlier work with Lei. We show that it may be decomposed as a sum of two bounded measures multiplied by explicit distributions depending only on the local properties of the modular form at p. We use this decomposition to prove results on the zeros of the p-adic L-function, and we show that our results match the behaviour observed in examples calculated by Pollack and Stevens.
- Let K be a totally imaginary number field. Denote by G ur K (2) the Galois group of the maximal unramified pro-2 extension of K. By comparing cup-products in {é}tale cohomology of SpecO K and cohomology of uniform pro-2 groups, we obtain situations where G ur K (2) has no non-trivial uniform analytic quotient, proving some new special cases of the unramified Fontaine-Mazur conjecture. For example, in the family of imaginary quadratic fields K for which the 2-rank of the class group is equal to 5, we obtain that for at least 33.12% of such K, the group G ur K (2) has no non-trivial uniform an…
We extend Urban's construction of eigenvarieties for reductive groups $G$ such that $G(\mathbb{R})$ has discrete series to include characteristic $p$ points at the boundary of weight space. In order to perform this construction, we define a notion of "locally analytic" functions and distributions on a locally $\mathbb{Q}_p$-analytic manifold taking values in a complete Tate $\mathbb{Z}_p$-algebra in which $p$ is not necessarily invertible. Our definition agrees with the definition of locally analytic distributions on $p$-adic Lie groups given by Johansson and Newton.
The purpose of this paper is to construct p-adic analytically continued function which interpolates q-Euler numbers at negative integer Finally, we give an explicit p-adic expansion as a power series in n.
We show how to functorially attach continuous $p$-adic representations of the profinite fundamental group to vector bundles with numerically flat reduction on a proper rigid analytic variety over $\mathbb{C}_p$. This generalizes results by Deninger and Werner for vector bundles on smooth algebraic varieties. Our approach uses fundamental results on the pro-étale site of a rigid analytic variety introduced by Scholze. This enables us to get rid of the smoothness condition and to work in the analytic category. Moreover, under some mild conditions, the functor we construct gives a full embedding …
We give the p-adic and F_q((t)) analogue of the real van der Corput Lemma, where the real condition of sufficient smoothness for the phase is replaced by the condition that the phase is a convergent power series. This van der Corput style result allows us, in analogy to the real situation, to study singular Fourier transforms on suitably curved (analytic) manifolds and opens the way for further applications. As one such further application we give the restriction theorem for Fourier transforms of L^p functions to suitably curved analytic manifolds over non-archimedean local fields, similar to …
This paper deals with connections on $p$-adic analytic curves, in the sense of Berkovich. The curves must be compact but the connections are allowed to have a finite number of meromorphic singularities on them. For any choice of a semistable formal model of the curve, we define an intrinsic notion of normalized radius of convergence as a function on the curve, with values in $(0,1]$. For a sufficiently refined choice of the semistable model, we prove continuity and logarithmic concavity of that function. We characterize \emph{Robba connections}, that is connections whose sheaf of solutions is …
