The quantization properties of composite peripheric twists are studied. Peripheric chains of extended twists are constructed for U(sl(N)) in order to obtain composite twists with sufficiently large carrier subalgebras. It is proved that the peripheric chains can be enlarged with additional Reshetikhin and Jordanian factors. This provides the possibility to construct new solutions to Drinfeld equations and, thus, to quantize new sets of Lie-Poisson structures. When the Jordanian additional factors are used the carrier algebras of the enlarged peripheric chains are transformed into algebras of motion of the form G_{JB}^{P}={G}_{H}\vdash {G}_{P}. The factor algebra G_{H} is a direct sum of Borel and contracted Borel subalgebras of lower dimensions. The corresponding omega--form is a coboundary. The enlarged peripheric chains F_{JB}^{P} represent the twists that contain operators external with respect to the Lie-Poisson structure. The properties of new twists are illustrated by quantizing r-matrices for the algebras U(sl(3)), U(sl(4)) and U(sl(7)).
These notes are based on the course given at the School of Geometry, University Kasdi Merbah (Ouargla) 2012. The aim of the course was the deformation quantization of Poisson Lie groups. In these notes we only review Kontsevich's formality theorem.
The quantization problem for the trace-bracket algebra, derived from double Poisson brackets, is discussed. We obtain a generalization of the boundary YBE (or so-called ABCD-algebra) for the quantization of quadratic trace-brackets. A dynamical deformation is proposed on the lines of Gervais-Neveu-Felder dynamical quantum algebras.
In this paper, we first recall the notion of (noncommutative) Poisson conformal algebras and describe some constructions of them. Then we study the formal distribution (noncommutative) Poisson algebras and coefficient (noncommutative) Poisson algebras. Next, we introduce the notion of conformal formal deformations of commutative associative conformal algebras and show that Poisson conformal algebras are the corresponding semi-classical limits. At last, we develop the cohomology theory of noncommutative Poisson conformal algebras and use this cohomology to study their deformations.
In this paper we introduce the concept of Hamiltonian system in the canonical and Poisson settings. We will discuss the quantization of the Hamiltonian systems in the Poisson context, using formal deformation quantization and quantum group theories.
We generalize the AKSZ construction of topological field theories to allow the target manifolds to have possibly-degenerate (homotopy) Poisson structures. Classical AKSZ theories, which exist for all oriented spacetimes, are described in terms of dioperads. The quantization problem is posed in terms of extending from dioperads to properads. We conclude by relating the quantization problem for AKSZ theories on R^d to the formality of the E_d operad, and conjecture a properadic description of the space of E_d formality quasiisomorphisms.
This paper is about the role of Planck's constant, $\hbar$, in the geometric quantization of Poisson manifolds using symplectic groupoids. In order to construct a strict deformation quantization of a given Poisson manifold, one can use all possible rescalings of the Poisson structure, which can be combined into a single "Heisenberg-Poisson" manifold. The new coordinate on this manifold is identified with $\hbar$. I present an explicit construction for a symplectic groupoid integrating a Heisenberg-Poisson manifold and discuss its geometric quantization. I show that in cases where $\hbar$ canno…
We show how combinatorial star products can be used to obtain strict deformation quantizations of polynomial Poisson structures on $\mathbb R^d$, generalizing known results for constant and linear Poisson structures to polynomial Poisson structures of arbitrary degree. We give several examples of nonlinear Poisson structures and construct explicit formal star products whose deformation parameter can be evaluated to any real value of $\hbar$, giving strict quantizations on the space of analytic functions on $\mathbb R^d$ with infinite radius of convergence. We also address further questions suc…
Whenever a given Poisson manifold is equipped with discrete symmetries the corresponding algebra of invariant functions or the algebra of functions twisted by the symmetry group can have new deformations, which are not captured by Kontsevich Formality. We consider the simplest example of this situation: $\mathbb{R}^2$ with the reflection symmetry $\mathbb{Z}_2$. The usual quantization leads to the Weyl algebra. While Weyl algebra is rigid, the algebra of even or twisted by $\mathbb{Z}_2$ functions has one more deformation, which was identified by Wigner and is related to Feigin's $gl_λ$ and to…
We construct a Chern-Simons type of theory using the $l_\infty$ algebra encoded by a Poisson structure on arbitrary Riemann surfaces with boundaries. A deformation quantization within the Batalin-Vilkovisky framework is performed by constructing propagators with Dirichlet boundary condition on Fulton-MacPherson compactified configuration space. Our results show that the BV quantization is independent of several gauge choices in propagators, which leads to global observables that are candidates for geometric invariants of Poisson structure and topological invariants for the worldsheet structure…
In our earlier article [Lett. Math. Phys. 107 (2017), 475-503, arXiv:1409.8188], we explicitly described a topological Hopf algebroid playing the role of the noncommutative phase space of Lie algebra type. Ping Xu has shown that every deformation quantization leads to a Drinfeld twist of the associative bialgebroid of h-adic series of differential operators on a fixed Poisson manifold. In the case of linear Poisson structures, the twisted bialgebroid essentially coincides with our construction. Using our explicit description of the Hopf algebroid, we compute the corresponding Drinfeld twist ex…
In the present paper we explicitly construct deformation quantizations of certain Poisson structures on E^*, where E -> M is a Lie algebroid. Although the considered Poisson structures in general are far from being regular or even symplectic, our construction gets along without Kontsevich's formality theorem but is based on a generalized Fedosov construction. As the whole construction merely uses geometric structures of E we also succeed in determining the dependence of the resulting star products on these data in finding appropriate equivalence transformations between them. Finally, the concr…
We give an explicit construction of a deformation quantization of the algebra of functions on a Poisson manifolds, based on Kontsevich's local formula. The deformed algebra of functions is realized as the algebra of horizontal sections of a vector bundle with flat connection.
This paper consists of two parts. In the first part we show that any Poisson algebraic group over a field of characteristic zero and any Poisson Lie group admits a local quantization. This answers positively a question of Drinfeld. In the second part we apply our techniques of quantization to obtain some nontrivial examples of quantization of Poisson homogeneous spaces.
We relate a universal formula for the deformation quantization of arbitrary Poisson structures proposed by Maxim Kontsevich to the Campbell-Baker-Hausdorff formula. Our basic thesis is that exponentiating a suitable deformation of the Poisson structure provides a prototype for such universal formulae.
We describe three perspectives on higher quantization, using the example of magnetic Poisson structures which embody recent discussions of nonassociativity in quantum mechanics with magnetic monopoles and string theory with non-geometric fluxes. We survey approaches based on deformation quantization of twisted Poisson structures, symplectic realization of almost symplectic structures, and geometric quantization using 2-Hilbert spaces of sections of suitable bundle gerbes. We compare and contrast these perspectives, describing their advantages and shortcomings in each case, and mention many ope…
The Feynman path integral is used to quantize the symplectic leaves of the Poisson-Lie group SU(2)*. In this way we obtain the unitary representations of U_q(su(2)). This is achieved by finding explicit Darboux coordinates and then using a phase space path integral. I discuss the *-structure of SU(2)* and give a detailed description of its leaves using various parametrizations and also compare the results with the path integral quantization of spin.
Let $\{{\cdot},{\cdot}\}_{\boldsymbol{\mathcal{P}}}$ be a variational Poisson bracket in a field model on an affine bundle $π$ over an affine base manifold $M^m$. Denote by $\times$ the commutative associative multiplication in the Poisson algebra $\boldsymbol{\mathcal{A}}$ of local functionals $Γ(π)\to\Bbbk$ that take field configurations to numbers. By applying the techniques from geometry of iterated variations, we make well defined the deformation quantization map ${\times}\mapsto{\star}={\times}+\hbar\,\{{\cdot},{\cdot}\}_{\boldsymbol{\mathcal{P}}}+\bar{o}(\hbar)$ that produces a noncommu…
We introduce dg Lie algebras controlling the deformations of vertex algebras and vertex Poisson algebras, utilizing the notion of operadic dg Lie algebra and the theory of chiral algebra. In terms of those dg Lie algebras, we formulate the deformation quantization problem of vertex Poisson algebras to vertex algebras.
We describe a deformation quantization of a modification of Poisson geometry by a closed 3-form. Under suitable conditions it gives rise to a stack of algebras. The basic object used for this aim is a kind of families of Poisson structures given by a Maurer-Cartan equation; they are easily quantized using Kontsevich's Formality theorem.
Poisson-Lie (PL) dynamical r-matrices are generalizations of dynamical r-matrices, where the base is a Poisson-Lie group. We prove analogues of basic results for these r-matrices, namely constructions of (quasi)Poisson groupoids and of Poisson homogeneous spaces. We introduce a class of PL dynamical r-matrices, associated to nondegenerate Lie bialgebras with a splitting; this is a generalization of trigonometric r-matrices with an abelian base. We prove a composition theorem for PL dynamical r-matrices, and construct quantizations of the polarized PL dynamical r-matrices. This way, we obtain q…
We construct an analogue of the Livernet--Loday operad for two compatible brackets. The Livernet--Loday operad can be used to define $\star$-products and deformation quantization for Poisson structures. We make use of our operad in the same way, introducing a definition of (operadic) deformation quantization of compatible Poisson structures.
We prove the existence of a strict deformation quantization for the canonical Poisson structure on the dual of an integrable Lie algebroid. It follows that any Lie groupoid C*-algebra may be regarded as a result of a quantization procedure. The C*-algebra of the tangent groupoid of a given Lie groupoid G (with Lie algebra g) is the C*-algebra of a continuous field of C*-algebras over R with fibers A_0=C*(g)=C_0(g*) and A_h=C*(G) for nonzero h. The same is true for the corresponding reduced C*-algebras. Our results have applications to, e.g., transformation group C*-algebras, K-theory, and inde…
We give an elementary proof of the result by Leichtnam, Tang, and Weinstein that there exists a deformation quantization with separation of variables on a complex manifold endowed with a Kaehler-Poisson structure vanishing on a Levi nondegenerate hypersurface and nondegenerate on its complement.
We check The Vaisman condition of geometric quantization for R-matrix type Poisson pencil on a coadjoint orbit of a compact Lie group. It is shown that this condition isn't satisfied.
We introduce a new kind of groupoid--a pseudo étale groupoid, which provides many interesting examples of noncommutative Poisson algebras as defined by Block, Getzler, and Xu. Following the idea that symplectic and Poisson geometries are the semiclassical limits of the corresponding quantum geometries, we quantize these noncommutative Poisson manifolds in the framework of deformation quantization.
An 'isomorphism' between the 'moduli space' of star products on $\R^2$ and the 'moduli space' of all formal Poisson structures on $\R^2$ is established.
These are lecture notes for the course "Poisson geometry and deformation quantization" given by the author during the fall semester 2020 at the University of Zurich. The first chapter is an introduction to differential geometry, where we cover manifolds, tensor fields, integration on manifolds, Stokes' theorem, de Rham's theorem and Frobenius' theorem. The second chapter covers the most important notions of symplectic geometry such as Lagrangian submanifolds, Weinstein's tubular neighborhood theorem, Hamiltonian mechanics, moment maps and symplectic reduction. The third chapter gives an introd…
We study the deformation complex of the dg wheeled properad of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded quadratic Poisson structures and prove that it is quasi-isomorphic to the even M. Kontsevich graph complex. As a first application we show that the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group acts on the genus completion of that wheeled properad faithfully and essentially transitively. As a second application we classify all universal quantizations of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded quadratic Poisson structures together with the underlying (so called) homogeneous formality maps. In particular we show that two universal quantizations of …
Symmetries of Poisson manifolds are in general quantized just to symmetries up to homotopy of the quantized algebra of functions. It is therefore interesting to study symmetries up to homotopy of Poisson manifolds. We notice that they are equivalent to Poisson principal bundles and describe their quantization to symmetries up to homotopy of the quantized algebras of functions.
$C^*$-algebraic Weyl quantization is extended by allowing also degenerate pre-symplectic forms for the Weyl relations with infinitely many degrees of freedom, and by starting out from enlarged classical Poisson algebras. A powerful tool is found in the construction of Poisson algebras and non-commutative twisted Banach-$*$-algebras on the stage of measures on the not locally compact test function space. Already within this frame strict deformation quantization is obtained, but in terms of Banach-$*$-algebras instead of $C^*$-algebras. Fourier transformation and representation theory of the mea…
As a detailed application of the BV-BFV formalism for the quantization of field theories on manifolds with boundary, this note describes a quantization of the relational symplectic groupoid for a constant Poisson structure. The presence of mixed boundary conditions and the globalization of results is also addressed. In particular, the paper includes an extension to space-times with boundary of some formal geometry considerations in the BV-BFV formalism, and specifically introduces into the BV-BFV framework a "differential" version of the classical and quantum master equations. The quantization…
We express the difference between Poisson bracket and deformed bracket for Kontsevich deformation quantization on any Poisson manifold by means of second derivative of the formality quasi-isomorphism. The counterpart on star products of the action of formal diffeomorphisms on Poisson formal bivector fields is also investigated.
We describe two types of Poisson pencils generated by a linear bracket and a quadratic one arising from a classical R-matrix. A quantization scheme is discussed for each. The quantum algebras are represented as the enveloping algebras of ``generalized Lie algebras''.
We discuss a framework for quantizing a Poisson manifold via the quantization of its symplectic groupoid, that combines the tools of geometric quantization with the results of Renault's theory of groupoid C*-algebras. This setting allows very singular polarizations. In particular we consider the case when the modular function is "multiplicatively integrable", i.e. when the space of leaves of the polarization inherits a groupoid structure. If suitable regularity conditions are satisfied, then one can define the quantum algebra as the convolution algebra of the subgroupoid of leaves satisfying t…
We give a simple formula for the operator C_3 of the standard deformation quantization with separation of variables on a Kähler manifold M. Unlike C_1 and C_2, this operator can not be expressed in terms of the Kähler-Poisson tensor on M. We modify C_3 to obtain a covariant deformation quantization with separation of variables up to the third order which is expressed in terms of the Poisson tensor on M and thus can be defined on an arbitrary complex manifold endowed with a Poisson bivector field of type (1,1).
We investigate the geometric interpretation of quantized Nambu-Poisson structures in terms of noncommutative geometries. We describe an extension of the usual axioms of quantization in which classical Nambu-Poisson structures are translated to n-Lie algebras at quantum level. We demonstrate that this generalized procedure matches an extension of Berezin-Toeplitz quantization yielding quantized spheres, hyperboloids, and superspheres. The extended Berezin quantization of spheres is closely related to a deformation quantization of n-Lie algebras, as well as the approach based on harmonic analysi…
Let $G$ be a Poisson Lie group and $\g$ its Lie bialgebra. Suppose that $\g$ is a group Lie bialgebra. This means that there is an action of a discrete group $Γ$ on $G$ deforming the Poisson structure into coboundary equivalent ones. Starting from this we construct a non-trivial stack of Hopf-Poisson algebras and prove the existence of associated deformation quantizations. This non-trivial stack is a stack of functions on the formal Poisson group, dual of the starting $Γ$ Poisson-Lie group. To quantize this non-trivial stack we use quantization of a $Γ$ Lie bialgebra which is the infinitesimal…
In this paper we prove that any Poisson structure on a sheaf of Lie algebroids admits a weak deformation quantization, and give a sufficient condition for such a Poisson structure to admit an actual deformation quantization. We also answer the corresponding classification problems. In the complex symplectic case, we recover in particular some results of Nest-Tsygan and Polesello-Schapira. We begin the paper with a recollection of known facts about deformation theory of cosimplicial differential graded Lie algebras.
Any classical r-matrix on the Lie algebra of linear operators on a real vector space V gives rise to a quadratic Poisson structure on V which admits a deformation quantization stemming from the construction of V. Drinfel'd. We exhibit in this article an example of quadratic Poisson structure which does not arise this way.
We give simple explicit formulas for deformation quantization of Poisson-Lie groups and of similar Poisson manifolds which can be represented as moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces. The star products depend on a choice of Drinfeľd associator and are obtained by applying certain monoidal functors (fusion and reduction) to commutative algebras in Drinfeľd categories. From a geometric point of view this construction can be understood as a quantization of the quasi-Poisson structures on moduli spaces of flat connections.
As a generalization of the linear Poisson bracket on the dual space of a Lie algebra, we introduce certain non-linear Poisson brackets which are ``cocycle perturbations'' of the linear Poisson bracket. We show that these special Poisson brackets are equivalent to Poisson brackets of central extension type, which resemble the central extensions of an ordinary Lie bracket via Lie algebra cocycles. We are able to formulate (strict) deformation quantizations of these Poisson brackets by means of twisted group C*-algebras. We also indicate that these deformation quantizations can be used to constru…
In the algebra Sym(gl(m)) we consider Poisson pencils generated by the linear Poisson-Lie bracket {,}_{gl(m)} and that corresponding to the so-called Reflection Equation Algebra. Each bracket of such a pencil has the Poisson center coinciding with that of the bracket {,}_{gl(m)}. Consequently, any bracket from this pencil can be restricted to a generic GL(m)-orbit O in gl(m)*. Quantization of such a restricted bracket can be done in the frameworks of braided affine geometry. In the paper we consider these Poisson structures, their super-analogs as well as their quantum (braided) counterparts. …
In the present paper we prove a statement closely related to the cyclic formality conjecture. In particular, we prove that for a divergence-free Poisson bivector field on R^d, the Kontsevich star-product with the harmonic angle function is cyclic. We also prove a globalization of this theorem in the case of arbitrary Poisson manifolds and prove a generalization of the Connes-Flato-Sternheimer conjecture on closed star-products in the Poisson case.
In this paper we introduce two classes of Poisson brackets on algebras (or on sheaves of algebras). We call them locally free and nonsingular Poisson brackets. Using the Fedosov's method we prove that any locally free nonsingular Poisson bracket can be quantized. In particular, it follows from this that all Poisson brackets on an arbitrary field of characteristic zero can be quantized. The well known theorem about the quantization of nondegenerate Poisson brackets on smooth manifolds follows from the main result of this paper as well.
One way of reconciling classical and quantum mechanics is deformation quantization, which involves deforming the commutative algebra of functions on a Poisson manifold to a non-commutative, associative algebra, reminiscent of the space of quantum observables. This depends on a formal parameter $\hbar$, so that the original pointwise product is recovered when $\hbar=0$. In 1997 Kontsevich showed that a deformation quantization exists for every Poisson manifold. He furthermore gave a simple, combinatorial formula for producing a quantization of any Poisson structure on $\mathbb{R}^n$. The primar…
Given a Lie algebra, there uniquely exists a Poisson algebra which is called a Lie-Poisson algebra over the Lie algebra. We will prove that given a Loday/Leibniz algebra there exists uniquely a noncommutative Poisson algebra over the Loday algebra. The noncommutative Poisson algebras are called the Loday-Poisson algebras. In the super/graded cases, the Loday-Poisson bracket is regarded as a noncommutative version of classical (linear) Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. It will be shown that the Loday-Poisson algebras form a special subclass of Aguiar's dual-prePoisson algebras. We also study a proble…
A simple iterative procedure is suggested for the deformation quantization of (irregular) Poisson brackets associated to the classical Yang-Baxter equation. The construction is shown to admit a pure algebraic reformulation giving the Universal Deformation Formula (UDF) for any triangular Lie bialgebra. A simple proof of classification theorem for inequivalent UDF's is given. As an example the explicit quantization formula is presented for the quasi-homogeneous Poisson brackets on two-plane.
By working with several specific Poisson-Lie groups arising from Heisenberg Lie bialgebras and by carrying out their quantizations, a case is made for a useful but simple method of constructing locally compact quantum groups. The strategy is to analyze and collect enough information from a Poisson-Lie group, and using it to carry out a ``cocycle bicrossed product construction''. Constructions are done using multiplicative unitary operators, obtaining C*-algebraic, locally compact quantum (semi-)groups.
We develop a new approach to deformation quantizations of Lie bialgebras and Poisson structures which goes in two steps. In the first step one associates to any Poisson (resp. Lie bialgebra) structure a so called quantizable Poisson (resp. Lie bialgebra) structure. We show explicit transcendental formulae for this correspondence. In the second step one deformation quantizes a quantizable Poisson (resp. Lie bialgebra) structure. We show again explicit transcendental formulae for this second step correspondence (as a byproduct we obtain configuration space models for biassociahedron and bipermut…
Let $G$ be a simple complex factorizable Poisson Lie algebraic group. Let $\U_\hbar(\g)$ be the corresponding quantum group. We study $\U_\hbar(\g)$-equivariant quantization $\C_\hbar[G]$ of the affine coordinate ring $\C[G]$ along the Semenov-Tian-Shansky bracket. For a simply connected group $G$ we prove an analog of the Kostant-Richardson theorem stating that $\C_\hbar[G]$ is a free module over its center.
In this paper we address the following question: is it always possible to choose a deformation quantization of a Poisson algebra A so that certain Poisson-commutative subalgebra C in it remains commutative? We define a series of cohomological obstructions to this, that take values in the Hochschild cohomology of C with coefficients in A. In some particular case of the pair (A,C) we reduce these classes to the classes of the Poisson relative cohomology of the Hochschild cohomology. We show, that in the case, when the algebra C is polynomial, these obstructions coincide with the previously known…
We show that for every vector bundle E over any given symplectic manifold M there exists an explicitly given super-Poisson bracket on the space of sections of the dual Grassmann bundle associated to E built out of symplectic structure of M, a fibre metric on E, and a connection in E compatible with the given fibre metric. Moreover, we construct a deformation quantization for this space of sections by means of a Fedosov type procedure.
Various aspects of Morita theory of deformed algebras and in particular of star product algebras on general Poisson manifolds are discussed. We relate the three flavours ring-theoretic Morita equivalence, $^*$-Morita equivalence, and strong Morita equivalence and exemplify their properties for star product algebras. The complete classification of Morita equivalent star products on general Poisson manifolds is discussed as well as the complete classification of covariantly Morita equivalent star products on a symplectic manifold with respect to some Lie algebra action preserving a connection.
