We show that any module over a Heisenberg Lie algebra is an "integral" over the space of local systems for the dual torus of modules over twisted Heisenberg lattice vertex algebras
I introduce new Langlands duality conjectures concerning skein modules of 3-manifolds, which we have made recently with David Ben-Zvi, Sam Gunningham, and Pavel Safronov. I recount some historical motivation and some recent special cases where the conjecture is confirmed. The proofs in these cases combine the representation theory of double affine Hecke algebras and a new 1-form symmetry structure on skein modules related to electric-magnetic duality. This note is an expansion of my talk given at String Math 2022 in Warsaw, and is submitted to the String Math 2022 Proceedings publication.
We review and extend the vertex algebra framework linking gauge theory constructions and a quantum deformation of the Geometric Langlands Program. The relevant vertex algebras are associated to junctions of two boundary conditions in a 4d gauge theory and can be constructed from the basic ones by following certain standard procedures. Conformal blocks of modules over these vertex algebras give rise to twisted D-modules on the moduli stacks of G-bundles on Riemann surfaces which have applications to the Langlands Program. In particular, we construct a series of vertex algebras for every simple …
Let G be a complex symplectic group. We introduce a G x (C ^x) ^{l + 1}-variety N_{l}, which we call the l-exotic nilpotent cone. Then, we realize the Hecke algebra H of type C_n ^(1) with three parameters via equivariant algebraic K-theory in terms of the geometry of N_2. This enables us to establish a Deligne-Langlands type classification of "non-critical" simple H-modules. As applications, we present a character formula and multiplicity formulas of H-modules.
We review various aspects of representation theory of affine algebras at the critical level, geometric Langlands correspondence, and Bethe ansatz in the Gaudin models. Geometric Langlands correspondence relates D-modules on the moduli space of G-bundles on a complex curve X and flat G^L-bundles on X. Beilinson and Drinfeld construct it by applying a localization functor to representations of affine algebras of critical level. We show that in genus zero the corresponding D-modules are closely related to the diagonalization problem in the Gaudin model associated to G. This allows us to give a ne…
We review some aspects of the theory of noncommutative two-tori with real multiplication focusing on the role played by Heisenberg groups in the definition of algebraic structures associated to these noncommutative spaces.
A module over an affine Kac--Moody algebra g^ is called spherical if the action of the Lie subalgebra g[[t]] on it integrates to an algebraic action of the corresponding group G[[t]]. Consider the category of spherical g^-modules of critical level. In this paper we prove that this category is equivalent to the category of quasi-coherent sheaves on the ind-scheme of opers on the punctured disc which are unramified as local systems. This result is a categorical version of the well-known description of spherical vectors in representations of groups over local non-archimedian fields. It may be vie…
We first determine the automorphism group of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra $V_{\mathcal{L}}(\ell_{123},0)$.Then, for any integer $t>1$, we introduce a new Lie algebra $\mathcal{L}_{t}$, and show that $σ_{t}$-twisted $V_{\mathcal{L}}(\ell_{123},0)$($\ell_{2}=0$)-modules are in one-to-one correspondence with restricted $\mathcal{L}_{t}$-modules of level $\ell_{13}$, where $σ_{t}$ is an order $t$ automorphism of $V_{\mathcal{L}}(\ell_{123},0)$. At the end, we give a complete list of irreducible $σ_{t}$-twisted $V_{\mathcal{L}}(\ell_{123},0)$($\ell_{2}=0$)-modules.
We apply the technique of S^1-equivariant localization to sheaves on loop spaces in derived algebraic geometry, and obtain a fundamental link between two families of categories at the heart of geometric representation theory. Namely, we categorify the well known relationship between free loop spaces, cyclic homology and de Rham cohomology to recover the category of D-modules on a smooth stack X as a localization of the category of S^1-equivariant coherent sheaves on its loop space LX. The main observation is that this procedure connects categories of equivariant D-modules on flag varieties wit…
We describe a correspondence (or duality) between the q-characters of finite-dimensional representations of a quantum affine algebra and its Langlands dual in the spirit of q-alg/9708006 and 0809.4453. We prove this duality for the Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules and their irreducible tensor products. In the course of the proof we introduce and construct "interpolating (q,t)-characters" depending on two parameters which interpolate between the q-characters of a quantum affine algebra and its Langlands dual.
In this paper, we study Heisenberg vertex algebras over fields of prime characteristic. The new feature is that the Heisenberg vertex algebras are no longer simple unlike in the case of characteristic zero. We then study a family of simple quotient vertex algebras and we show that for each such simple quotient vertex algebra, irreducible modules are unique up to isomorphism and every module is completely reducible. To achieve our goal, we also establish a complete reducibility theorem for a certain category of modules over Heisenberg algebras.
In this paper, we study a new kind of vertex operator algebra related to the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, which we call the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, and its modules. Specifically, we present some results concerning the relationship between the restricted module categories of twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebras of rank one and rank two and several different kinds of module categories of their corresponding vertex algebras. We also study fully the structures of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, give a characterization of it as a tensor …
Let $M(1)$ be the vertex operator algebra with the Virasoro element $ω$ associated to the Heisenberg algebra of rank $1$ and let $M(1)^{+}$ be the subalgebra of $M(1)$ consisting of the fixed points of an automorphism of $M(1)$ of order $2$. We classify the simple weak $M(1)^{+}$-modules with a non-zero element $w$ such that for some integer $s\geq 2$, $ω_i w\in{\mathbb C}w$ ($i=\lfloor s/2\rfloor+1,\lfloor s/2\rfloor+2,\ldots,s-1$), $ω_{s}w\in{\mathbb C}^{\times}w$, and $ω_i w=0$ for all $i>s$. The result says that any such simple weak $M(1)^{+}$-module is isomorphic to some simple weak $M(1)…
Let ${\mathscr M}(p)$ $(p=2,3,\ldots)$ be the singlet vertex operator algebra and $ω$ its conformal vector. We classify the simple weak ${\mathscr M}(p)$-modules with a non-zero element $u$ such that for some integer $s\geq 2$, $ω_i u\in{\mathbb C} u$ ($i=\lfloor s/2\rfloor+1,\lfloor s/2\rfloor+2,\ldots,s-1$), $ω_{s} u\in{\mathbb C}^{\times} u$, and $ω_i u=0$ for all $i>s$.
By a local geometric Langlands correspondence for a complex reductive group G we understand a construction which assigns to a local system on the punctured disc for the Langlands dual group of G, a category equipped with an action of the formal loop group G((t)). We propose a conjectural description of these categories as categories of representations of the corresponding affine Kac-Moody algebra of critical level, and, in some cases, as categories of D-modules on the ind-schemes G((t))/K. We describe in detail these categories and interrelations between them and provide supporting evidence fo…
We show that the support of an irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, which has an infinite dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain that every irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, having a nontrivial finite dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either an irreducible highest or lowest weight module or an irreducible module from the intermediate series
We describe the structure of the irreducible highest weight modules for the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro Lie algebra at level zero. We prove that such a module is either isomorphic to a Verma module or to a quotient of two Verma modules.
For any additive subgroup $G$ of an arbitrary field $F$ of characteristic zero, there corresponds a generalized Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $L[G]$. Given a total order of $G$ compatible with its group structure, and any $h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI}\in F$, a Verma module $M(h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI})$ over $L[G]$ is defined. In the this note, the irreducibility of Verma modules $M(h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI})$ is completely determined.
Based on a pairing of two regular multiplier Hopf algebras $A$ and $B$, Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is the smash product $A \# B$ with respect to the left regular action of $B$ on $A$. Let $\mathscr{D}=A\bowtie B$ be the Drinfel'd double, then Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is a Yetter-Drinfel'd $\mathscr{D}$-module algebra, and it is also braided commutative by the braiding of Yetter-Drinfel'd module, which generalizes the results in [10] to some infinite dimensional cases.
We prove that the algebra of endomorphisms of a Weyl module of critical level is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on the space of monodromy-free opers on the disc with regular singularity and residue determined by the highest weight of the Weyl module. This result may be used to test the local geometric Langlands correspondence proposed in our earlier work arXiv:math/0508382.
We explain how, starting with a stack of D4-branes ending on an NS5-brane in type IIA string theory, one can, via T-duality and the topological-holomorphic nature of the relevant worldvolume theories, relate (i) the lattice models realized by Costello's 4d Chern-Simons theory, (ii) links in 3d analytically-continued Chern-Simons theory, (iii) the quantum geometric Langlands correspondence realized by Kapustin-Witten using 4d N = 4 gauge theory and its quantum group modification, and (iv) the Gaitsgory-Lurie conjecture relating quantum groups/affine Kac-Moody algebras to Whittaker D-modules/W-a…
We show that subsingular vectors exist in Verma modules over W(2,2), and present a subquotient structure of these modules. We prove conditions for irreducibility of a tensor product of intermediate series module with the highest weight module. Relations to intertwining operators over vertex operator algebra associated to W(2,2) is discussed. Also, we study a tensor product of intermediate series and highest weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, and present series of irreducible modules with infinite-dimensional weight spaces.
We construct and study a closed, two-dimensional, quasi-topological (0,2) gauged sigma model with target space a smooth G-manifold, where G is any compact and connected Lie group. When the target space is a flag manifold of simple G, and the gauge group is a Cartan subgroup thereof, the perturbative model describes, purely physically, the recently formulated mathematical theory of "Twisted Chiral Differential Operators". This paves the way, via a generalized T-duality, for a natural physical interpretation of the geometric Langlands correspondence for simply-connected, simple, complex Lie grou…
We study the Yetter--Drinfeld D(B)-module algebra structure on the Heisenberg double H(B^*) endowed with a "heterotic" action of the Drinfeld double D(B). This action can be interpreted in the spirit of Lu's description of H(B^*) as a twist of D(B). In terms of the braiding of Yetter--Drinfeld modules, H(B^*) is braided commutative. By the Brzezinski--Militaru theorem, H(B^*)#D(B) is then a Hopf algebroid over H(B^*). For B a particular Taft Hopf algebra at a 2p-th root of unity, the construction is adapted to yield Yetter--Drinfeld module algebras over the 2p^3-dimensional quantum group U_q(s…
Wakimoto modules are representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras in Fock modules over infinite-dimensional Heisenberg algebras. In these lectures we present the construction of the Wakimoto modules from the point of view of the vertex algebra theory. We then use Wakimoto modules to identify the center of the completed universal enveloping algebra of an affine Kac-Moody algebra at the critical level with the algebra of functions on the space of opers for the Langlands dual group on the punctured disc. These results were originally obtained by B. Feigin and the author.
We compute the algebras of self-extensions of the vacuum module and the Verma modules over an affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ in suitable categories of Harish-Chandra modules. We show that at the critical level these algebras are isomorphic to the algebras of differential forms on various spaces of opers associated to the Langlands dual Lie algebra of g, whereas away from the critical level they become trivial. These results rely on and generalize the description of the corresponding algebras of endomorphisms obtained by Feigin and Frenkel and the description of the corresponding graded versions d…
This paper is a continuation of arXiv:1405.1707. We present certain new applications and generalizations of the free field realization of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra ${\mathcal H}$ at level zero. We find explicit formulas for singular vectors in certain Verma modules. A free field realization of self-dual modules for ${\mathcal H}$ is presented by combining a bosonic construction of Whittaker modules from arXiv:1409.5354 with a construction of logarithmic modules for vertex algebras. As an application, we prove that there exists a non-split self-extension of irreducible self-dual m…
We observe that all classical Hamiltonian systems coming from the invariant polynomials on a reductive Lie algebra g can be integrated in a universal way. This is a consequence of Ngô's action of the group scheme J of regular centralizers in G on all centralizers: the Hamiltonian flows associated to invariant polynomials integrate to an action of J as commutative symplectic groupoid. We quantize the Ngô action, providing a universal integration for all quantum Hamiltonian systems coming from the center Z=Z(Ug) of the enveloping algebra. Namely we extend Kostant's Whittaker description of Z to …
For a Hopf algebra B with bijective antipode, we show that the Heisenberg double H(B^*) is a braided commutative Yetter--Drinfeld module algebra over the Drinfeld double D(B). The braiding structure allows generalizing H(B^*) = B^{*cop}\braid B to "Heisenberg n-tuples" and "chains" ...\braid B^{*cop}\braid B \braid B^{*cop}\braid B\braid..., all of which are Yetter--Drinfeld D(B)-module algebras. For B a particular Taft Hopf algebra at a 2p-th root of unity, the construction is adapted to yield Yetter--Drinfeld module algebras over the 2p^3-dimensional quantum group U_qsl(2).
We investigate the free fields realization of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal{H}$ at level zero. We completely describe the structure of the associated Fock representations. Using vertex-algebraic methods and screening operators we construct singular vectors in certain Verma modules as Schur polynomials. We completely solve the irreducibility problem for tensor product of irreducible highest weight modules with intermediate series. We also determine the fusion rules for an interesting subcategory of $\mathcal{H}$-modules. Finally, as an application we present a free field rea…
The aim of the paper is to study modules for the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal H$ at level zero as modules for the $W(2,2)$-algebra by using construction from [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 219 (2015), 4322-4342, arXiv:1405.1707]. We prove that the irreducible highest weight ${\mathcal H}$-module is irreducible as $W(2,2)$-module if and only if it has a typical highest weight. Finally, we construct a screening operator acting on the Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex algebra whose kernel is exactly $W(2,2)$ vertex algebra.
We consider the category of modules over the affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ of critical level with regular central character. In our previous paper math.RT/0508382 we conjectured that this category is equivalent to the category of Hecke eigen-D-modules on the affine Grassmannian G((t))/G[[t]]. This conjecture was motivated by our proposal for a local geometric Langlands correspondence. In this paper we prove this conjecture for the corresponding I^0 equivariant categories, where I^0 is the radical of the Iwahori subgroup of G((t)). Our result may be viewed as an affine analogue of the equivalence…
Let $V$ be a simple vertex operator algebra containing a rank $n$ Heisenberg vertex algebra $H$ and let $C=\text{Com}\left( {H}, {V}\right)$ be the coset of ${H}$ in ${V}$. Assuming that the representation categories of interest are vertex tensor categories in the sense of Huang, Lepowsky and Zhang, a Schur-Weyl type duality for both simple and indecomposable but reducible modules is proven. Families of vertex algebra extensions of ${C}$ are found and every simple ${C}$-module is shown to be contained in at least one ${V}$-module. A corollary of this is that if ${V}$ is rational and $C_2$-cofi…
In arXiv:1001.2562 a certain non-commutative algebra $A$ was defined starting from a semi-simple algebraic group, so that the derived category of $A$-modules is equivalent to the derived category of coherent sheaves on the Springer (or Grothendieck-Springer) resolution. Let $\hat{\g}$ be the affine Lie algebra corresponding to the Langlands dual Lie algebra. Using results of Frenkel and Gaitsgory arXiv:0712.0788 we show that the category of $\hat{\g}$ modules at the critical level which are Iwahori integrable and have a fixed central character, is equivalent to the category of modules over a q…
We apply the ideas of derived algebraic geometry and topological field theory to the representation theory of reductive groups. Our focus is the Hecke category of Borel-equivariant D-modules on the flag variety of a complex reductive group G (equivalently, the category of Harish Chandra bimodules of trivial central character) and its monodromic variant. The Hecke category is a categorified analogue of the finite Hecke algebra, which is a finite-dimensional semi-simple symmetric Frobenius algebra. We establish parallel properties of the Hecke category, showing it is a two-dualizable Calabi-Yau …
The equivariant $K$-theory of the semi-infinite flag manifold, as developed recently by Kato, Naito, and Sagaki, carries commuting actions of the nil-double affine Hecke algebra (nil-DAHA) and a $q$-Heisenberg algebra. The action of the latter generates a free submodule of rank $|W|$, where $W$ is the (finite) Weyl group. We show that this submodule is stable under the nil-DAHA, which enables one to express the nil-DAHA action in terms of $W\times W$ matrices over the $q$-Heisenberg algebra. Our main result gives an explicit algebraic construction of these matrices as a limit from the (non-nil…
The Heisenberg double $D_q(E_2)$ of the quantum Euclidean group $\mathcal{O}_q(E_2)$ is the smash product of $\mathcal{O}_q(E_2)$ with its Hopf dual $U_q(\mathfrak{e}_2)$. For the algebra $D_q(E_2)$, explicit descriptions of its prime, primitive, and maximal spectra are obtained. All prime factors of $D_q(E_2)$ are presented as generalized Weyl algebras. As a result, we obtain that the algebra $D_q(E_2)$ has no finite-dimensional representations, and that $D_q(E_2)$ cannot have a Hopf algebra structure. The automorphism groups of the quantum Euclidean group and its Heisenberg double are determ…
For a Hopf algebra B, we endow the Heisenberg double H(B^*) with the structure of a module algebra over the Drinfeld double D(B). Based on this property, we propose that H(B^*) is to be the counterpart of the algebra of fields on the quantum-group side of the Kazhdan--Lusztig duality between logarithmic conformal field theories and quantum groups. As an example, we work out the case where B is the Taft Hopf algebra related to the U_qsl(2) quantum group that is Kazhdan--Lusztig-dual to (p,1) logarithmic conformal models. The corresponding pair (D(B),H(B^*)) is "truncated" to (U_qsl(2),H_qsl(2))…
This is a review of our previous works (some of them joint with B. Feigin and N. Reshetikhin) on the Gaudin model and opers. We define a commutative subalgebra in the tensor power of the universal enveloping algebra of a simple Lie algebra g. This algebra includes the hamiltonians of the Gaudin model, hence we call it the Gaudin algebra. It is constructed as a quotient of the center of the completed enveloping algebra of the affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ at the critical level. We identify the spectrum of the Gaudin algebra with the space of opers associated to the Langlands dual Lie algebra of g…
We investigate critical points and minimizers of the Yang-Mills functional YM on quantum Heisenberg manifolds $D^c_{μν}$, where the Yang-Mills functional is defined on the set of all compatible linear connections on finitely generated projective modules over the QHMs. A compatible linear connection which is both a critical point and minimizer of YM is called a Yang-Mills connection. In this paper, we investigate Yang-Mills connections with constant curvature. We are interested in Yang-Mills connections on the following classes of modules over the QHMs: (i) Abadie's module $Ξ$ of trace $2μ$ and…
