We give a construction for three parameter family of Jack polynolials for the root system $BC_n$ through the generalized spherical functions on the symmetric space $GL(m+n)/GL(m)\times GL(n)$.
In this paper, we extend the iterative expression for the generalized spherical functions associated to the root systems of type $A$ previously obtained beyond regular elements. We also provide the corresponding expression in the flat case. From there, we derive a Laplace-type representation for the generalized spherical functions associated to the root systems of type $A$ in the Dunkl setting as well as in the trigonometric Dunkl setting. This representation leads us to describe precisely the support of the generalized Abel transform. Thanks to a recent result of Rejeb, this allows us to give…
Let G be a simple complex algebraic group and let K be a reductive subgroup of G such that the coordinate ring of G/K is a multiplicity free G-module. We consider the G-algebra structure of C[G/K], and study the decomposition into irreducible summands of the product of irreducible G-submodules in C[G/K]. When the spherical roots of G/K generate a root system of type A we propose a conjectural decomposition rule, which relies on a conjecture of Stanley on the multiplication of Jack symmetric functions. With the exception of one case, we show that the rule holds true whenever the root system gen…
We show a curious identity on root systems which gives the evaluation of the volume of the spherical simpleces cut by the cone generated by simple roots.
Let $\mathcal{D}_{n,m}$ be the algebra of the quantum integrals of the deformed Calogero-Moser-Sutherland problem corresponding to the root system of the Lie superalgebra $\frak{gl}(n,m)$. The algebra $\mathcal{D}_{n,m}$ acts naturally on the quasi-invariant Laurent polynomials and we investigate the corresponding spectral decomposition. Even for general value of the parameter $k$ the spectral decomposition is not simple and we prove that the image of the algebra $\mathcal{D}_{n,m}$ in the algebra of endomorphisms of the generalised eigen-space is $k[\varepsilon]^{\otimes r}$ where $k[\varepsi…
Brion proved that the valuation cone of a complex spherical variety is a fundamental domain for a finite reflection group, called the little Weyl group. The principal goal of this paper is to generalize this fundamental theorem to fields of characteristic unequal to 2. We also prove a weaker version which holds in characteristic 2, as well. Our main tool is a generalization of Akhiezer's classification of spherical rank-1-varieties.
Original proofs of the AGT relations with the help of the Hubbard-Stratanovich duality of the modified Dotsenko-Fateev matrix model did not work for beta different from one, because Nekrasov functions were not properly reproduced by Selberg-Kadell integrals of Jack polynomials. We demonstrate that if the generalized Jack polynomials, depending on the N-ples of Young diagrams from the very beginning, are used instead of the N-linear combinations of ordinary Jacks, this resolves the problem. Such polynomials naturally arise as special elements in the equivariant cohomologies of the GL(N)-instant…
Let $R$ be a root system of type BC in $\mathfrak a=\mathbb R^r$ of general positive multiplicity. We introduce certain canonical weight function on $\mathbb R^r$ which in the case of symmetric domains corresponds to the integral kernel of the Berezin transform. We compute its spherical transform and prove certain Bernstein-Sato type formula. This generalizes earlier work of Unterberger-Upmeier, van Dijk-Pevsner, Neretin and the author. Associated to the weight functions there are Heckman-Opdam orthogonal polynomials of Jacobi type on the compact torus, after a change of variables they form an…
We study in this paper the restricted roots for a class of spherical homogeneous spaces of semisimple groups which includes simply connected symmetric spaces. For these spaces we give a detailed description (case by case) of the set of roots of the group associated with each restricted root of the space (the nest of the restricted root). As an application, we obtain a refinement of the Weyl dimension formula in the case of spherical representations, expressing the dimension as a product over the set of indivisible positive restricted roots.
A depending on a complex parameter $k$ superanalog ${\mathcal S}{\mathcal L}$ of Calogero operator is constructed; it is related with the root system of the Lie superalgebra ${\mathfrak{gl}}(n|m)$. For $m=0$ we obtain the usual Calogero operator; for $m=1$ we obtain, up to a change of indeterminates and parameter $k$ the operator constructed by Veselov, Chalykh and Feigin [2,3]. For $k=1, \frac12$ the operator ${\mathcal S}{\mathcal L}$ is the radial part of the 2nd order Laplace operator for the symmetric superspaces corresponding to pairs $(GL(V)\times GL(V), GL(V))$ and $(GL(V), OSp(V))$, r…
We continue a program generalizing classical results from the analysis on symmetric cones to the Dunkl setting for root systems of type A. In particular, we prove a Dunkl-Laplace transform identity for Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric functions of type A and more generally, for the associated Cherednik kernel. This is achieved by analytic continuation from a Laplace transform identity for non-symmetric Jack polynomials which was stated, for the symmetric case, as a key conjecture in an unpublished manuscript of Macdonald (2013). Our proof for the Jack polynomials is based on Dunkl operator techniq…
Let $Λ_Q$ be the preprojective algebra of a finite acyclic quiver $Q$ of non-Dynkin type and $D^b(\mathrm{rep}^n Λ_Q)$ be the bounded derived category of finite dimensional nilpotent $Λ_Q$-modules. We define spherical twist functors over the root category $\mathcal{R}_{Λ_Q}$ of $D^b(\mathrm{rep}^n Λ_Q)$ and then realize the Weyl group associated to $Q$ as certain subquotient of the automorphism group of the Ringel-Hall Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}(\mathcal{R}_{Λ_Q})$ of $\mathcal{R}_{Λ_Q}$ induced by spherical twist functors. We also present a conjectural relation between certain Lie subalgebras …
Majorization is a partial order on real vectors which plays an important role in a variety of subjects, ranging from algebra and combinatorics to probability and statistics. In this paper, we consider a generalized notion of majorization associated to an arbitrary root system $Φ,$ and show that it admits a natural characterization in terms of the values of spherical functions on any Riemannian symmetric space with restricted root system $Φ.$
We present explicit Pieri formulas for Macdonald's spherical functions (or generalized Hall-Littlewood polynomials associated with root systems) and their $q$-deformation the Macdonald polynomials. For the root systems of type $A$, our Pieri formulas recover the well-known Pieri formulas for the Hall-Littlewood and Macdonald symmetric functions due to Morris and Macdonald as special cases.
Macdonald polynomials are orthogonal polynomials associated to root systems, and in the type A case, the symmetric kind is a common generalization of Schur functions, Macdonald spherical functions, and Jack polynomials. We use the combinatorics of alcove walks to calculate products of monomials and intertwining operators of the double affine Hecke algebra. From this, we obtain a product formula for Macdonald polynomials of general type.
Let $\mathbb D=G/K$ be a complex bounded symmetric domain of tube type in a Jordan algebra $V_{\mathbb C}$, and let $D=H/L =\mathbb D\cap V$ be its real form in a Jordan algebra $V\subset V_{\mathbb C}$. The analytic continuation of the holomorphic discrete series on $\mathbb D$ forms a family of interesting representations of $G$. We consider the restriction on $D$ of the scalar holomorphic representations of $G$, as a representation of $H$. The unitary part of the restriction map gives then a generalization of the Segal-Bargmann transform. The group $L$ is a spherical subgroup of $K$ and we …
Let $Z$ be a unimodular real spherical space. We develop a theory of constant terms for tempered functions on $Z$ which parallels the work of Harish-Chandra. The constant terms $f_I$ of an eigenfunction $f$ are parametrized by subsets $I$ of the set $S$ of spherical roots which determine the fine geometry of $Z$ at infinity. Constant terms are transitive i.e. $(f_J)_I=f_I$ for $I\subset J$, and our main result is a quantitative bound of the difference $f-f_I$, which is uniform in the parameter of the eigenfunction.
We introduce the (global) q-Whittaker function as the limit at t=0 of the q,t-spherical function extending the symmetric Macdonald polynomials to arbitrary eigenvalues. The construction heavily depends on the technique of the q-Gaussians developed by the author (and Stokman in the non-reduced case). In this approach, the q-Whittaker function is given by a series convergent everywhere, a kind of generating function for multi-dimensional q-Hermite polynomials (closely related to the level 1 Demazure characters). One of the applications is a q-version of the Shintani- Casselman- Shalika formula, …
We describe the asymptotic behavior of the multivariate BC-type Jacobi polynomials as the number of variables and the Young diagram indexing the polynomial go to infinity. In particular, our results describe the approximation of the spherical functions of the infinite-dimensional symmetric spaces of type B,C,D or BC by the spherical functions of the corresponding finite-dimensional symmetric spaces. Similar results for the Jack polynomials were established in our earlier paper (Intern. Math. Res. Notices 1998, no. 13, 641-s682; arXiv:q-alg/9709011). The main results of the present paper were o…
A unified theory of quantum symmetric pairs is applied to q-special functions. Previous work characterized certain left coideal subalgebras in the quantized enveloping algebra and established an appropriate framework for quantum zonal spherical functions. Here a distinguished family of such functions, invariant under the Weyl group associated to the restricted roots, is shown to be a family of Macdonald polynomials, as conjectured by Koornwinder and Macdonald. Our results place earlier work for Lie algebras of classical type in a general context and extend to the exceptional cases.
We study the space of biinvariants and zonal spherical functions associated to quantum symmetric pairs in the maximally split case. Under the obvious restriction map, the space of biinvariants is proved isomorphic to the Weyl group invariants of the character group ring associated to the restricted roots. As a consequence, there is either a unique set, or an (almost) unique two-parameter set of Weyl group invariant quantum zonal spherical functions associated to an irreducible symmetric pair. Included is a complete and explicit list of the generators and relations for the left coideal subalgeb…
For any reduced crystallographic root system, we introduce a unitary representation of the (extended) affine Hecke algebra given by discrete difference-reflection operators acting in a Hilbert space of complex functions on the weight lattice. It is shown that the action of the center under this representation is diagonal on the basis of Macdonald spherical functions. As an application, we compute an explicit Pieri formula for these spherical functions.
Formulae of Berezin and Karpelevic for the radial parts of invariant differential operators and the spherical function on a complex Grassmann manifold are generalized to the hypergeometric functions associated with root system of type $BC_n$ under condition that the multiplicity of the middle roots is zero or one.
A series expansion for Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric functions $φ_λ$ is obtained for all $λ\in \mathfrak a^*_{\mathbb C}.$ As a consequence, estimates for $φ_λ$ away from the walls of a Weyl chamber are established. We also characterize the bounded hypergeometric functions and thus prove an analogue of the celebrated theorem of Helgason and Johnson on the bounded spherical functions on a Riemannian symmetric space of the noncompact type. The $L^p$-theory for the hypergeometric Fourier transform is developed for $0<p<2$. In particular, an inversion formula is proved when $1\leq p <2$.
We compute the Harish-Chandra $c$-function for a generic class of rank-one purely non-compact Riemannian symmetric superspaces $X=G/K$ in terms of Euler $Γ$ functions, proving that it is meromorphic. Compared to the even case, the poles of the $c$-function are shifted into the right half-space. We derive the full asymptotic Harish-Chandra series expansion of the spherical superfunctions on $X$. In the case where the multiplicity of the simple root is an even negative number, they have a closed expression as Jacobi polynomials for an unusual choice of parameters.
Let $F_{BC}(λ,k;t)$ be the Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric function of type BC with multiplicities $k=(k_1,k_2,k_3)$ and weighted half sum $ρ(k)$ of positive roots. We prove that $F_{BC}(λ+ρ(k),k;t)$ converges for $k_1+k_2\to\infty$ and $k_1/k_2\to \infty$ to a function of type A for $t\in\b R^n$ and $λ\in\b C^n$. This limit is obtained from a corresponding result for Jacobi polynomials of type BC, which is proven for a slightly more general limit behavior of the multiplicities, using an explicit representation of Jacobi polynomials in terms of Jack polynomials. Our limits include limit transitio…
Starting with nonsymmetric global difference spherical functions, we define and calculate spinor (nonsymmetric) global q-Whittaker functions for arbitrary reduced root systems, which are reproducing kernels of the DAHA-Fourier transforms of Nil-DAHA and solutions of the q-Toda-Dunkl eigenvalue problem. We introduce the spinor q-Toda-Dunkl operators as limits of the difference Dunkl operators in DAHA theory under the spinor variant of the Ruijsenaars procedure. Their general algebraic theory (any reduced root systems) is the key part of this paper, based on the new technique of W-spinors and co…
We describe the structure of the Whittaker or Gelfand-Graev module on a $n$-fold metaplectic cover of a $p$-adic group $G$ at both the Iwahori and spherical level. We express our answer in terms of the representation theory of a quantum group at a root of unity attached to the Langlands dual group of $G$. To do so, we introduce an algebro-combinatorial model for these modules and develop for them a Kazhdan-Lusztig theory involving new generic parameters. These parameters can either be specialized to Gauss sums to recover the $p$-adic theory or to the natural grading parameter in the representa…
