Let $Ω$ be a bounded, convex domain in a separable Hilbert space. The authors prove a version of the theorem of Bun Wong, which asserts that if such a domain admits an automorphism orbit accumulating at a strongly pseudoconvex boundary point then it is biholomorphic to the ball. Key ingredients in the proof are a new localization argument using holomorphic peaking functions and the use of new ``normal families'' arguments in the construction of the limit biholomorphism.
It is shown in this short note that the conjecture on the description of the group of automorphism of the spectral ball posed by Ransford and White is false.
We prove an analogue of Alexander's Theorem for holomorphic mappings of the unit ball in a complex Hilbert space: Every holomorphic mapping which takes a piece of the boundary of the unit ball into the boundary of the unit ball and whose differential at some point of this boundary is onto is the restriction of an automorphism of the ball. We also show that it is enough to assume that the mapping is only Gateaux-holomorphic.
If F is an automorphism of the spectral unit ball, we show that, in a neighborhood of any cyclic (i.e. non-derogatory) matrix of the ball, the map F can be written as conjugation by a holomorphically varying non singular matrix. This provides a shorter proof of a theorem of J. Rostand, with a slightly stronger result.
Given a sequence of automorphisms of the polydisk, we show that the associated composition semigroup homomorphisms on the ball of bounded holomorphic functions on the polydisk admit a universal inner function if a certain condition on the automorphisms are satisfied.
We generalize the notion of the density property for complex manifolds to holomorphic fibrations, and introduce the notion of the fibred density property. We prove that the natural fibration of the spectral ball over the symmetrized polydisc enjoys the fibred density property and describe the automorphism group of the spectral ball.
We show that the group generated by by triangular and diagonal conjugations is dense in $\aut(Ω_2)$ (in the local-uniform topology). Moreover, it is shown that any automorphism of $Ω_2$ is a local holomorphic conjugation.
In this paper we study the projective automorphism group of domains in real, complex, and quaternionic projective space and present two new characterizations of the unit ball in terms of the size of the automorphism group and the regularity of the boundary.
We show in this paper that every domain in a separable Hilbert space, say $\cH$, which has a $C^2$ smooth strongly pseudoconvex boundary point at which an automorphism orbit accumulates is biholomorphic to the unit ball of $\cH$. This is the complete generalization of the Wong-Rosay theorem to a separable Hilbert space of infinite dimension. Our work here is an improvement from the preceding work of Kim/Krantz [KIK] and subsequent improvement of Byun/Gaussier/Kim [BGK] in the infinite dimensions.
In this paper, we first introduce the concept of biholomorphic convex mapping of order alpha on the unit ball B in a complex Hilbert space X. Next we provide some sufficient conditions that a locally biholomorphic mapping f is a biholomorphic convex mapping of order alpha and give an Alexander's theorem between the subclass of convex mappings and the subclass of starlike mappings on B in Hilbert space. We also obtain the order of starlikeness of biholomorphic convex mappings of order alpha on B in Hilbert spaces. Finally, we construct some concrete examples of biholomorphic convex mappings of …
We show that each proper holomorphic self map of a symmetric power of the unit ball is an automorphism naturally induced by an automorphism of the unit ball, provided the ball is of dimension at least two.
For a Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space on a complex domain we give a formula that describes the Hermitean metrics on the domain which are pull-backs of some metric on the (dual of) the RKHS via the evaluation map. Then we consider the question when such metrics are invariant with respect to the group of automorphisms of the domain. First we approach the problem by considering a stronger property, demanding that the original metric on the (dual of) the RKHS is invariant with respect to all (adjoints of) composition operators, induced by automorphisms. However, we show that only the trivial metr…
We establish a Julia--Carathéodory theorem and a boundary Schwarz--Wolff lemma for hyperbolically monotone mappings in the open unit ball of a complex Hilbert space
In this article, we initiate the study of Bloch type spaces on the unit ball of a Hilbert space. As applications, the Hardy-Littlewood theorem in infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces and characterizations of some holomorphic function spaces related to the Bloch type space are presented.
Denote by $ B_X $ the unit ball of an infinite-dimensional complex Hilbert space $ X. $ Let $ψ\in H(B_X),$ the space of all holomorphic functions on the unit ball $B_X,$ $φ\in S(B_X)$ the set of holomorphic self-maps of $B_X. $ Let $C_{ψ, φ}: \mathcal B_ν(B_X)$ (and $ \mathcal B_{ν,0}(B_X)$) $\to \mathcal B_μ(B_X) $ (and $ \mathcal B_{μ,0}(B_X)$) be weighted extended Cesàro operators induced by products of the extended Cesàro operator $ C_φ$ and integral operator $T_ψ.$ In this paper, we characterize the boundedness and compactness of $ C_{ψ,φ} $ via the estimates for the restrictions of $ ψ$ …
Let $ E $ be a space of holomorphic functions on the unit ball $ B_X $ of a Banach space $ X.$ In this work, we introduce a Banach structure associated to $ E $ on the linear space $ WE(Y) $ containing $ Y$-valued holomorphic functions on $ B_X $ such that $ w \circ f \in E $ for every $ w \in W, $ a separating subspace of the dual $ Y' $ of a Banach $ Y. $ We establish the relation between the boundedness, the (weak) compactness of the weighted composition operators $ W_{ψ,φ}: f\mapsto ψ\cdot(f \circ φ) $ on $ E $ and $ \widetilde{W}_{ψ,φ}: g\mapsto ψ\cdot(g \circ φ) $ on $ WE(Y)$ via some ch…
We show that if the group of holomorphic automorphisms of a connected complex manifold $M$ of dimension $n$ is isomorphic as a topological group equipped with the compact-open topology to the automorphism group of the unit ball $B^n\subset\CC^n$, then $M$ is biholomorphically equivalent to either $B^n$ or $\CC\PP^n\setminus\bar{B^n}$.
We present a rigidity property of holomorphic generators on the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}$ of a Hilbert space $H$. Namely, if $f\in\Hol (\mathbb{B},H)$ is the generator of a one-parameter continuous semigroup ${F_t}_{t\geq 0}$ on $\mathbb{B}$ such that for some boundary point $τ\in \partial\mathbb{B}$, the admissible limit $K$-$\lim\limits_{z\toτ}\frac{f(x)}{\|x-τ\|^{3}}=0$, then $f$ vanishes identically on $\mathbb{B}$.
Let $n\geq 2$. In this paper, we obtain approximation properties of various families of normalized univalent mappings $f$ on the Euclidean unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ by automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^n$ whose restrictions to $\mathbb{B}^n$ have the same geometric property of $f$. First, we obtain approximation properties of spirallike, convex and $g$-starlike mappings $f$ on $\mathbb{B}^n$ by automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^n$ whose restrictions to $\mathbb{B}^n$ have the same geometric property of $f$, respectively. Next, for a nonresonant operator $A$ with $m(A)>0$, we obtain an a…
We establish rigidity (or uniqueness) theorems for nc automorphisms which are natural extensions of clasical results of H.~Cartan and are improvements of recent results. We apply our results to nc-domains consisting of unit balls of rectangular matrices.
In this paper, we investigate the spectra of invertible weighted composition operators with automorphism symbols, on Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$ and weighted Bergman spaces $A_α^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$, where $\mathbb{B}_N$ is the unit ball of the $N$-dimensional complex space. By taking $N=1$, $\mathbb{B}_N=\mathbb{D}$ the unit disc, we also complete the discussion about the spectrum of a weighted composition operator when it is invertible on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ or $A_α^2(\mathbb{D})$.
Let $D$ be a bounded domain in a complex Banach space. According to the Earle-Hamilton fixed point theorem, if a holomorphic mapping $F : D \mapsto D$ maps $D$ strictly into itself, then it has a unique fixed point and its iterates converge to this fixed point locally uniformly. Now let $\mathcal{B}$ be the open unit ball in a complex Hilbert space and let $F : \mathcal{B} \mapsto \mathcal{B}$ be holomorphic. We show that a similar conclusion holds even if the image $F(\mathcal{B})$ is not strictly inside $\mathcal{B}$, but is contained in a horosphere internally tangent to the boundary of $\m…
We survey results arising from the study of domains in C^n with non-compact automorphism group. Beginning with a well-known characterization of the unit ball, we develop ideas toward a consideration of weakly pseudoconvex (and even non-pseudoconvex) domains with particular emphasis on characterizations of (i) smoothly bounded domains with non-compact automorphism group and (ii) the Levi geometry of boundary orbit accumulation points. Particular attention will be paid to results derived in the past ten years.
This paper concerns a commutant lifting theorem and a Nevanlinna-Pick type interpolation result in the setting of multipliers from vector-valued Drury-Arveson space to a large class of vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces over the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$. The special case of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces includes all natural examples of Hilbert spaces like Hardy space, Bergman space and weighted Bergman spaces over the unit ball.
We prove that the Euclidean ball can be realized as a Fatou component of a holomorphic automorphism of $\mathbb{C}^m$, in particular as the escaping and the oscillating wandering domain. Moreover, the same is true for a large class of bounded domains, namely for all bounded regular open sets $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^m$ whose closure is polynomially convex. Our result gives in particular the first example of a bounded Fatou component with a smooth boundary in the category of holomorphic automorphisms.
We study the fixed point sets of holomorphic self-maps of a bounded domain in ${\Bbb C}^n$. Specifically we investigate the least number of fixed points in general position in the domain that forces any automorphism (or endomorphism) to be the identity. We have discovered that in terms of this number one can give the necessary and sufficient condition for the domain to be biholomorphic to the unit ball. Other theorems and examples generalize and complete previous results in this area, especially the recent work of Jean-Pierre Vigué.
We introduce the Hermitian-invariant group $Γ_f$ of a proper rational map $f$ between the unit ball in complex Euclidean space and a generalized ball in a space of typically higher dimension. We use properties of the groups to define the crucial new concepts of essential map and the source rank of a map. We prove that every finite subgroup of the source automorphism group is the Hermitian-invariant group of some rational proper map between balls. We prove that $Γ_f$ is non-compact if and only if $f$ is a totally geodesic embedding. We show that $Γ_f$ contains an $n$-torus if and only if $f$ is…
For convex domains with $C^{1,ε}$ boundary we give a precise description of the automorphism group: if an orbit of the automorphism group accumulates on at least two different closed complex faces of the boundary, then the automorphism group has finitely many components and the connected component of the identity is the almost direct product of a compact group and a non-compact connected simple Lie group with real rank one and finite center. In this case, we also show the limit set is homeomorphic to a sphere and prove a gap theorem: either the domain is biholomorphic to the unit ball (and the…
For a Hénon map of the form $H(x, y) = (y, p(y) - ax)$, where $p$ is a polynomial of degree at least two and $a \not= 0$, it is known that the sub-level sets of the Green's function $G^+_H$ associated with $H$ are Short $\mathbb C^2$'s. For a given $c > 0$, we study the holomorphic automorphism group of such a Short $\mathbb C^2$, namely $Ω_c = \{ G^+_H < c \}$. The unbounded domain $Ω_c \subset \mathbb C^2$ is known to have smooth real analytic Levi-flat boundary. Despite the fact that $Ω_c$ admits an exhaustion by biholomorphic images of the unit ball, it turns out that its automorphism grou…
This paper deals with the the norm of the weighted Bergman projection operator $P_α:L^\infty\to \mathcal{B}$ where $α>-1$ and $\mathcal{B}$ is the Bloch space of the unit ball of the complex space $\mathbf{C}^n$. We consider two Bloch norms, the standard Bloch norm and invariant norm w.r.t. automorphisms of the unit ball. Our work contains as a special case the main result of the recent paper \cite{Perala}.
We characterize the Carleson measures for the Drury-Arveson Hardy space and other Hilbert spaces of analytic functions of several complex variables. This provides sharp estimates for Drury's generalization of Von Neumann's inequality. The characterization is in terms of a geometric condition, the "split tree condition", which reflects the nonisotropic geometry underlying the Drury-Arveson Hardy space.
