We construct Hilbert $C^*$-modules useful for studying Gabor systems and show that they are Banach algebras under pointwise multiplication. For rational $ab<1$ we prove that the set of functions $g \in L^2(R)$ so that $(g,a,b)$ is a Bessel system is an ideal for the Hilbert $C^*$-module given this pointwise algebraic structure. This allows us to give a multiplicative perturbation theorem for frames. Finally we show that a system $(g,a,b)$ yields a frame for $L^2(R)$ iff it is a modular frame for the given Hilbert $C^*$-module.
Let $\mathbb{H}$ be a separable Hilbert space. In this paper we establish a generalization of Walnut's representation and Janssen's representation of the $\mathbb{H}-$valued Gabor frame operator on $\mathbb{H}-$valued weighted amalgam spaces $W_{\mathbb{H}}(L^p,L^q_v)$, $1 \leq p, q \leq \infty$. Also we show that the frame operator is invertible on $W_{\mathbb{H}}(L^p,L^q_v)$, $1 \leq p, q \leq \infty$, if the window function is in the Wiener amalgam space $W_{\mathbb{H}}(L^{\infty},L^1_w)$. Further, we obtain the Walnut representation and invertibility of the frame operator corresponding to …
Hilbert space fusion frames are a natural extension of Hilbert space frames, extending the notion from a set of vectors in a Hilbert space to a set of subspaces of a Hilbert space with analogous notions of overcompleteness and boundedness. As tight frames are a very important topic within standard frame theory, tight fusion frames are similarly important; however, only trivial examples of tight fusion frames are hitherto known. In this paper, we apply ideas from Gabor analysis to demonstrate a non-trivial construction of tight fusion frames. We then use this construction to further show their …
Given a locally compact abelian group $G$ and a closed subgroup $Λ$ in $G\times\widehat{G}$, Rieffel associated to $Λ$ a Hilbert $C^*$-module $\mathcal{E}$, known as a Heisenberg module. He proved that $\mathcal{E}$ is an equivalence bimodule between the twisted group $C^*$-algebra $C^*(Λ,\textsf{c})$ and $C^*(Λ^\circ,\bar{\textsf{c}})$, where $Λ^{\circ}$ denotes the adjoint subgroup of $Λ$. Our main goal is to study Heisenberg modules using tools from time-frequency analysis and pointing out that Heisenberg modules provide the natural setting of the duality theory of Gabor systems. More concr…
We show that Hilbert-Schmidt operators can be used to define frame-like structures for $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$ over lattices in $\mathbb{R}^{2d}$ that include multi-window Gabor frames as a special case. These frame-like structures are called Gabor g-frames, as they are examples of g-frames as introduced by Sun. We show that Gabor g-frames share many properties of Gabor frames, including a Janssen representation and Wexler-Raz biorthogonality conditions. A central part of our analysis is a notion of Fourier series of periodic operators based on earlier work by Feichtinger and Kozek, where we show …
We discuss the concepts of pseudo-dual frames and approximately dual frames, and illuminate their relationship to classical frames. Approximately dual frames are easier to construct than the classical dual frames, and might be tailored to yield almost perfect reconstruction. For approximately dual frames constructed via perturbation theory, we provide a bound on the deviation from perfect reconstruction. An alternative bound is derived for the rich class of Gabor frames, by using the Walnut representation of the frame operator to estimate the deviation from equality in the duality conditions. …
We give a construction of Gabor type frames for suitable separable subspaces of the non-separable Hilbert spaces $AP_2({\mathbb R})$ of almost periodic functions of one variable. Furthermore we determine a non-countable generalized frame for the whole space $AP_2({\mathbb R}).$ We show furthermore that Bessel-type estimates hold for the $AP$ norm with respect to a countable Gabor system using suitable almost periodic norms of sequencies.
The duality principle for Gabor frames is one of the pillars of Gabor analysis. We establish a far-reaching generalization to Morita equivalent $C^*$-algebras where the equivalence bimodule is a finitely generated projective Hilbert $C^*$-module. These Hilbert $C^*$-modules are equipped with some extra structure and are called Gabor bimodules. We formulate a duality principle for standard module frames for Gabor bimodules which reduces to the well-known Gabor duality principle for twisted group $C^*$-algebras of a lattice in phase space. We lift all these results to the matrix algebra level an…
In the first part of the paper we describe the dual \ell^2(A)^{\prime} of the standard Hilbert C*-module \ell^2(A) over an arbitrary (not necessarily unital) C*-algebra A. When A is a von Neumann algebra, this enables us to construct explicitly a self-dual Hilbert A-module \ell^2_{\text{strong}}(A) that is isometrically isomorphic to \ell^2(A)^{\prime}, which contains \ell^2(A), and whose A-valued inner product extends the original inner product on \ell^2(A). This serves as a concrete realization of a general construction for Hilbert C*-modules over von Neumann algebras introduced by W. Paschk…
In the present investigation we are linking noncommutative geometry over noncommutative tori with Gabor analysis, where the first has its roots in operator algebras and the second in time-frequency analysis. Therefore we are in the position to invoke modern methods of operator algebras, e.g. topological stable rank of Banach algebras, to exploit the deeper properties of Gabor frames. Furthermore we are able to extend results due to Connes and Rieffel on projective modules over noncommutative tori to Banach algebras, which arise in a natural manner in Gabor analysis. The main goal of this inves…
In this paper Gabor system of certain type based on the unitary dual of the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$ is introduced and a sufficient condition is obtained for the Gabor system to be a Bessel sequence for $L^2(\mathbb{R}^*,\mathcal{B}_2;dκ)$ using the $Schrödinger$ representation of $\mathbb{H}^n$, where $\mathcal{B}_2$ denotes the class of Hilbert-Schmidt operators on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $dκ$ denotes the Haar measure on $\mathbb{R}^*$. Further a necessary and sufficient condition is provided for the Gabor system to be an orthonormal system, a Parseval frame sequence, a frame sequence…
Redundancy is the qualitative property which makes Hilbert space frames so useful in practice. However, developing a meaningful quantitative notion of redundancy for infinite frames has proven elusive. Though quantitative candidates for redundancy exist, the main open problem is whether a frame with redundancy greater than one contains a subframe with redundancy arbitrarily close to one. We will answer this question in the affirmative for $\ell^1$-localized frames. We then specialize our results to Gabor multi-frames with generators in $M^1(\R^d)$, and Gabor molecules with envelopes in $W(C,l^…
G\v avruta studied atomic systems in terms of frames for range of operators (that is, for subspaces), namely $K$-frames, where the lower frame condition is controlled by the Hilbert-adjoint of a bounded linear operator $K$. For a locally compact abelian group G and a positive integer $n$, we study frames of matrix-valued Gabor systems in the matrix-valued Lebesgue space $L^2(G, \mathbb{C}^{n\times n})$ , where a bounded linear operator $Θ$ on $L^2(G, \mathbb{C}^{n\times n})$ controls not only lower but also the upper frame condition. We term such frames matrix-valued $(Θ, Θ^*)$-Gabor frames. F…
We describe a connection between two seemingly different problems: (a) the construction of projections in noncommutative tori, (b) the construction of tight Gabor frames. The present investigation relies an interpretation of projective modules over noncommutative tori in terms of Gabor analysis. The main result demonstrates that Rieffel's condition on the existence of projections in noncommutative tori is equivalent to the Wexler-Raz biorthogonality relations for tight Gabor frames. Therefore we are able to invoke results on the existence of Gabor frames in the construction of projections in n…
Phase retrieval refers to the problem of recovering some signal (which is often modelled as an element of a Hilbert space) from phaseless measurements. It has been shown that in the deterministic setting phase retrieval from frame coefficients is always unstable in infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces [7] and possibly severely ill-conditioned in finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces [7]. Recently, it has also been shown that phase retrieval from measurements induced by the Gabor transform with Gaussian window function is stable under a more relaxed semi-global phase recovery regime based on atoll f…
In this work we deal with the recently introduced concept of weaving frames. We extend the concept to include multi-window frames and present the first sufficient criteria for a family of multi-window Gabor frames to be woven. We give a Hilbert space norm criterion and a pointwise criterion in phase space. The key ingredient are localization operators in phase space and we give examples of woven multi-window Gabor frames consisting of Hermite functions.
The fractional Hilbert transforms plays an important role in optics and signal processing. In particular the analytic signal proposed by Gabor has as a key component the Hilbert transform. The higher dimensional Hilbert transform is the Riesz-Hilbert transform which was used by Felsberg and Sommer to construct the monogenic signal. We will construct fractional and quaternionic fractional Riesz-Hilbert transforms based on a eigenvalue decomposition. We will prove properties of these transformations such as shift and scale invariance, orthogonality and the semigroup property. Based on the fracti…
This paper considers generators of Heisenberg modules in the case of twisted group $C^*$-algebras of closed subgroups of locally compact abelian groups and how the restrction and/or periodization of these generators yield generators for other Heisenberg modules. Since generators of Heisenberg modules are exactly the generators of (multi-window) Gabor frames, our methods are going to be from Gabor analy\-sis. In the latter setting the procedure of restriction and periodization of generators is well known. Our results extend this established part of Gabor analy\-sis to the general setting of loc…
Approximate duality of frame pairs have been investigated by Christensen and Laugesen in (Sampl. Theory Signal Image Process., 9, 2011, 77-90), with the motivation to obtain an important applications in Gabor systems, wavelets and general frame theory. In this paper we obtain some of the known results in approximate duality of frames to K-g-frames. We also obtain new K-g-frames and approximate K-g-duals from a K-g-frame and an approximate K-g-dual. Finally, we give an equivalent condition under which the subsequence of a K-g-frame still to be a K-g-frame.
We consider sets of trace-normalized non-negative operators in Hilbert-Schmidt balls that maximize their mutual Hilbert-Schmidt distance; these are optimal arrangements in the sets of purity-limited classical or quantum states on a finite-dimensional Hilbert space. Classical states are understood to be represented by diagonal matrices, with the diagonal entries forming a probability vector. We also introduce the concept of spectrahedron arrangements which provides a unified framework for classical and quantum arrangements and the flexibility to define new types of optimal packings. Continuing …
It is known that the tensor product of two sequences, in the tensor product of two separable Hilbert spaces, is a frame if and only if each component of that product is a frame. This paper proposes a sort of generalization of the aforementioned result by dealing with sequences S that are finite minimal sums of tensor products of a finite number of sequences. We prove that S is a Bessel sequence if and only if it is a sum for which each term is the tensor product of Bessel sequences. We also state necessary conditions for S to be a frame. For dimensions higher than one, we deduce several result…
We study the connection between Gabor frames for quasicrystals, the topology of the hull of a quasicrystal $Λ,$ and the $K$-theory of the twisted groupoid $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}_σ$ arising from a quasicrystal. In particular, we construct a finitely generated projective module $\mathcal{H}_Ł$ over $\mathcal{A}_σ$ related to time-frequency analysis, and any multiwindow Gabor frame for $Λ$ can be used to construct an idempotent in $M_N(\mathcal{A}_σ)$ representing $\mathcal{H}_Ł$ in $K_0(\mathcal{A}_σ).$ We show for lattice subsets in dimension two, this element corresponds to the Bott elemen…
Recent research has shown that the properties of overcomplete Gabor frames and frames arising from shift-invariant systems form a precise match with certain conditions that are necessary for a frame in $L^2(\mathbf R)$ to have a representation $\{T^k φ\}_{k=0}^\infty$ for some bounded linear operator $T$ on $L^2(\mathbf R)$ and some $φ\in L^2(\mathbf R).$ However, for frames of this type the existence of such a representation has only been confirmed in the case of Riesz bases. This leads to several open questions connecting dynamical sampling, coherent states, frame theory, and operator theory…
Recently proved weighted Cauchy Scwarz inequality for Hilbert $C^*$-modules leads to many Hölder type inequalities for unitarily invariant norms on Hilbert space operators.
The paper is devoted to continuous frames and Riesz bases in Hilbert C*-modules. we define a continuous Riesz basis for Hilbert C*-modules and give some results about them.
Frame Theory has a great revolution in recent years. This Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. In this paper we consider the stability of continuous operator frame and continuous $K$-operator frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules under perturbation and we establish some properties
The notion of controlled frames for Hilbert spaces were introduced by Balazs, Antoine and Grybos to improve the numerical efficiency of iterative algorithms for inverting the frame operator. Controlled Frame Theory has a great revolution in recent years. This Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. In this paper we introduce and study the extension of this notion to integral frame for Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-module. Also we give some characterizations between integral frame in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-module
Frame Theory has a great revolution for recent years. This Theory has been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. The purpose of this paper is the introduction and the study of the new concept that of Continuous Controlled K-g-Frame for Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules wich is a generalizations of discrete Controlled K-g-Frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules. Also we establish some results.
In this paper, we introduce and we study the concept of Continuous Controlled K-Frame for Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules wich are generalizations of discrete Controlled K-Frames.
In the present paper the notion of continuous frames is introduced and some results of these frames are proved. Next, we give the concept of duals of continuous frames in Hilbert C*-modules and investigate some properties of them.
The frame theory is dynamic and exciting with various pure and applied mathematics applications. In this paper, we introduce and study the concept of Controlled Continuous $\ast$-$g$-Frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules, which is a generalization of discrete controlled $\ast$-$g$-Frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules. Also, we give some properties.
In this paper, we give new characterizations of modular Riesz bases in Hilbert $C^*$-modules. We prove that modular Riesz bases share many properties with Riesz bases in Hilbert spaces. Moreover we show that there are also important differences; for example, there exist exact frames that are not modular Riesz bases.
A Hilbert module is a generalisation of a Hilbert space for which the inner product takes its values in a C*-algebra instead of the complex numbers. We use the bracket product to construct some Hilbert modules over a group C*-algebra which is generated by the group of translations associated with a wavelet. We shall investigate bracket products and their Fourier transform in the space of square integrable functions in Euclidean space. We will also show that some wavelets are associated with Hilbert modules over the space of essentially bounded functions over higher dimensional tori.
In the present paper we introduce the generalized inverse operators which have an interesting role in operator theory. We establish Douglas' factorization theorem type for Hilbert pro-$C^{\ast}$-module. We introduce the notion of atomic system and of $K$-frame in Hilbert pro-$C^{\ast}$-module and we study the relationship between them. We also demonstrat some properties of $K$-frame by using Douglas' factorization theorem. Finally we demonstrate that the sum of two $K$-frames in a Hilbert pro-$C^{\ast}$-module with certain conditions is once again a $K$-frame.
Let $Δ$ be a closed, cocompact subgroup of $G \times \widehat{G}$, where $G$ is a second countable, locally compact abelian group. Using localization of Hilbert $C^*$-modules, we show that the Heisenberg module $\mathcal{E}_Δ(G)$ over the twisted group $C^*$-algebra $C^*(Δ,c)$ due to Rieffel can be continuously and densely embedded into the Hilbert space $L^2(G)$. This allows us to characterize a finite set of generators for $\mathcal{E}_Δ(G)$ as exactly the generators of multi-window (continuous) Gabor frames over $Δ$, a result which was previously known only for a dense subspace of $\mathcal…
The duality principle states that a Gabor system is a frame if and only if the corresponding adjoint Gabor system is a Riesz sequence. In general Hilbert spaces and without the assumption of any particular structure, Casazza, Kutyniok and Lammers have introduced the so-called R-duals that also lead to a characterization of frames in terms of associated Riesz sequences; however, it is still an open question whether this abstract theory is a generalization of the duality principle. In this paper we prove that a modified version of the R-duals leads to a generalization of the duality principle th…
We study an intriguing question in frame theory we call "Weaving Frames" that is partially motivated by preprocessing of Gabor frames. Two frames $\{φ_i\}_{i\in I}$ and $\{ψ_i \}_{i\in I}$ for a Hilbert space ${\mathbb H}$ are woven if there are constants $0<A \le B $ so that for every subset $σ\subset I$, the family $\{φ_i\}_{i\in σ} \cup \{ψ_i\}_{i\in σ^c}$ is a frame for $\mathbb H$ with frame bounds $A,B$. Fundamental properties of woven frames are developed and key differences between weaving Riesz bases and weaving frames are considered. In particular, it is shown that a Riesz basis cann…
Frame theory has been rapidly generalized and various generalizations have been developed. In this paper, we present a brief survey of the frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules, including frames, $\ast$-frames, g-frames, $\ast$-g-frames, $\ast$-$K$-g-frame, operator frame and $\ast$-$K$-operator in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. Various proofs are given for some results. Also, we prove some new results. Moreover, non-trivial examples are presented.
We show that the "eigenbundle" (localization bundle) of certain Hilbert modules over bounded symmetric domains of rank r is a "singular" vector bundle (linearly fibrered complex analytic space) which decomposes as a stratified sum of homogeneous vector bundles along a canonical stratification of length r+1. The fibres are realized in terms of representation theory on the normal space of the strata.
We show that the construction of Gabor frames in $L^{2}(\mathbb{R})$ with generators in $\mathbf{S}_{0}(\mathbb{R})$ and with respect to time-frequency shifts from a rectangular lattice $α\mathbb{Z}\timesβ\mathbb{Z}$ is equivalent to the construction of certain Gabor frames for $L^{2}$ over the adeles over the rationals and the group $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{Q}_{p}$. Furthermore, we detail the connection between the construction of Gabor frames on the adeles and on $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{Q}_{p}$ with the construction of certain Heisenberg modules.
We consider converses to the density theorem for irreducible, projective, unitary group representations restricted to lattices using the dimension theory of Hilbert modules over twisted group von Neumann algebras. We show that under the right assumptions, the restriction of a $σ$-projective unitary representation $π$ of a group $G$ to a lattice $Γ$ extends to a Hilbert module over the twisted group von Neumann algebra $\text{L}(Γ,σ)$. We then compute the center-valued von Neumann dimension of this Hilbert module. For abelian groups with 2-cocycle satisfying Kleppner's condition, we show that t…
In this work we show that if the frame property of a Gabor frame with window in Feichtinger's algebra and a fixed lattice only depends on the parity of the window, then the lattice can be replaced by any other lattice of the same density without losing the frame property. As a byproduct we derive a generalization of a result of Lyubarskii and Nes, who could show that any Gabor system consisting of an odd window function from Feichtinger's algebra and any separable lattice of density $\frac{n+1}{n}$, $n \in \mathbb{N}_+$, cannot be a Gabor frame for the Hilbert space of square-integrable functi…
Continuing the research on the Banach-Saks and Schur properties started in (cf. M. Frank, A. A. Pavlov, Banach-Saks properties of C*-algebras and Hilbert C*-modules (submitted)) we investigate analogous properties in the module context. As an environment serves the class of Hilbert C*-modules. Some properties of weak module topologies on Hilbert C*-modules are described. Natural module analogues of the classical weak Banach-Saks and the classical Schur properties are defined and studied. A number of useful characterizations of properties of Hilbert C*-modules is obtained. In particular, some i…
We introduce the concept of frame of multipliers in Hilbert modules over pro-C*-algebras and show that many properties of frames in Hilbert C*-modules are valid for frames of multipliers in Hilbert modules over pro-C*-algebras.
In this paper, we investigate the structure of the multiplier module of a Hilbert module over a locally C*-algebra and the relationship between the set of all adjointable operators from a Hilbert A-module E to a Hilbert A-module F and the set of all adjointable operators from the multiplier module M(E)of E to the multiplier module M(F) of F.
In this paper, we introduce controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules and we show that they share many useful properties with their corresponding notions in Hilbert space. Next, we give a characterization of controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-module. Also multiplier operators for controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules will be defined and some of its properties will be shown. Finally, we investigate weighted frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules and verify their relations to controlled frames and multiplier operators.
Frame theory has a great revolution in recent years. This new Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert C*-modules. In this paper, we introduce the notion of dual *-K-g-frames in Hilbert A-modules. Lastly we study *-K-g-frames in tensor product of Hilbert C*-Modules and we establish some new results.
We show that every infinite-dimensional commutative unital C*-algebra has a Hilbert C*-module admitting no frames. In particular, this shows that Kasparov's stabilization theorem for countably generated Hilbert C*-modules can not be extended to arbitrary Hilbert C*-modules.
We construct an example of a Hilbert C*-module which shows that Troitsky's theorem on the geometrical essence of A-compact operators between Hilbert C*-modules is not extendable to a not countably generated module case (even in the case of a stronger uniform structure, which is also introduced). In addition, the constructed module admits no frames.
Frame Theory has a great revolution in recent years, this Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. Motivated from the theory of Hilbert-Schmidt morphisms between Hilbert C*-modules over commutative C*-algebras by Stern and van Suijlekom \textit{[J. Funct. Anal., 2021]}, we introduce the notion of p-absolutely summing morphisms between Hilbert C*-modules over commutative C*-algebras. We show that an adjointable morphism between Hilbert C*-modules over monotone closed commutative C*-algebra is 2-absolutely summing if and only if it is Hilbert-Schmidt. We formulate version of Pietsch factorization problem for p-absolutely summing morphisms and solve partially
The aim of this paper is to present a unified framework in the setting of Hilbert $C^*$-modules for the scalar- and vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces and $C^*$-valued reproducing kernel spaces. We investigate conditionally negative definite kernels with values in the $C^*$-algebra of adjointable operators acting on a Hilbert $C^*$-module. In addition, we show that there exists a two-sided connection between positive definite kernels and reproducing kernel Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Furthermore, we explore some conditions under which a function is in the reproducing kernel module and …
In this paper we introduce a notion of Morita equivalence for Hilbert C*-modules in terms of the Morita equivalence of the algebras of compact operators on Hilbert C*-modules. We investigate some properties of the new version of Morita equivalence and obtain some results. We then applied our results to study the continuous actions of locally compact groups on full Hilbert C*-modules. We present an extension of Green's theorem in the context of Hilbert C*-modules as well.
In this paper we study the unitary equivalence between Hilbert modules over a locally C*-algebra. Also, we prove a stabilization theorem for countably generated modules over an arbitrary locally C*-algebra and show that a Hilbert module over a Frechet locally C*-algebra is countably generated if and only if the locally C*-algebra of all ''compact'' operators has an approximate unit.
