This article explores some simple examples of L-infinity algebras and the construction of miniversal deformations of these structures. Among other things, it is shown that there are two families of nonequivalent L-infinity structures on a 1|1 dimensional vector space, two of which are Lie algebra structures. The main purpose of this work is to provide a simple effective procedure for constructing miniversal deformations, using the examples to illustrate the general technique. The same method can be applied directly to construct versal deformations of Lie algebras.
We consider versal deformations of 0|3-dimensional L-infinity algebras, which correspond precisely to ordinary (non-graded) three dimensional Lie algebras. The classification of such algebras over C is well known, although we shall give a derivation of this classification using an approach of treating them as L-infinity algebras. Because the symmetric algebra of a three dimensional odd vector space contains terms only of exterior degree less than or equal to three, the construction of versal deformations can be carried out completely. We give a characterization of the moduli space of Lie algeb…
In this work we compute a versal deformation of the three dimensional nilpotent Leibniz algebra over $\mathbb{C}$, defined by the nontrivial brackets $[e_1,e_3]=e_2$ and $[e_3,e_3]=e_1$.
In this work we consider deformations of Leibniz algebras over a field of characteristic zero. The main problem in deformation theory is to describe all non-equivalent deformations of a given object. We give a method to solve this problem completely, namely work out a construction of a versal deformation for a given Leibniz algebra, which induces all non-equivalent deformations and is unique on the infinitesimal level.
This article explores \Z_2-graded L_\infinity algebra structures on a 2|1-dimensional vector space. The reader should note that our convention on the parities is the opposite of the usual one, because we define our structures on the symmetric coalgebra of the parity reversion of a space, so our 2|1-dimensional L_\infinity algebras correspond to the usual 1|2-dimensional algebras. We give a complete classification of all structures with a nonzero degree 1 term. We also classify all degree 2 codifferentials, which is the same as a classification of all 1|2-dimensional Z_2-graded Lie algebras. Fo…
In this note we compute Leibniz algebra deformations of the 3-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{n}_3$ and compare it with its Lie deformations. It turns out that there are 3 extra Leibniz deformations. We also describe the versal Leibniz deformation of $\mathfrak{n}_3$ with the versal base.
We study the moduli space of four dimensional ordinary Lie algebras, and their versal deformations. Their classification is well known; our focus in this paper is on the deformations, which yield a picture of how the moduli space is assembled. Surprisingly, we get a nice geometric description of this moduli space essentially as an orbifold, with just a few exceptional points.
In this paper, we consider the versal deformations of three dimensional Lie algebras. We classify Lie algebras and study their deformations by using linear algebra techniques to study the cohomology. We will focus on how the deformations glue the space of all such structures together. This space is known as the moduli space. We will give a geometric description of this space, derived from deformation theory, in order to illustrate general features of moduli spaces of Lie algebras.
We study deformation of Courant pairs with a commutative algebra base. We consider the deformation cohomology bi-complex and describe a universal infinitesimal deformation. In a sequel, we formulate an extension of a given deformation of a Courant pair to another with extended base. This leads to describe the obstruction in extending a given deformation. We also discuss about the construction of versal deformation of Courant pairs. As an application, we explicitly compute universal infinitesimal deformation of Poisson algebra structures
We compare the second adjoint and trivial Leibniz cohomology spaces of a Lie algebra to the usual ones by a very elementary approach. The comparison gives some conditions, which are easy to verify for a given Lie algebra, for deciding whether it has more Leibniz deformations than just the Lie ones. We also give the complete description of a Leibniz (and Lie) versal deformation of the 4-dimensional diamond Lie algebra, and study the case of its 5-dimensional analogue.
A classical problem in algebraic deformation theory is whether an infinitesimal deformation can be extended to a formal deformation. The answer to this question is usually given in terms of Massey powers. If all Massey powers of the cohomology class determined by the infinitesimal deformation vanish, then the deformation extends to a formal one. We consider another approach to this problem, by constructing a miniversal deformation of the algebra. One advantage of this approach is that it answers not only the question of existence, but gives a construction of an extension as well.
In this paper we give some examples of generalized Massey products, arising from deformations of A-infinity and L-infinity algebras. The generalized Massey products are given by certain graded commutative algebra structures, depending on the deformation problem considered. We show that the formal deformations of infinity algebras give rise to the same algebraic structure as the deformations of Z2-graded Lie algebras. However, the problem of deforming a Lie algebra into an L-infinity algebra, or an associative algebra into an A-infinity algebra gives rise to a new algebra. We also consider defo…
We show that Deformation Quantization of quadratic Poisson structures preserves the $A_\infty$-Morita equivalence of a given pair of Koszul dual $A_\infty$-algebras.
We construct the deformation functor associated with a pair of morphisms of differential graded Lie algebras, and use it to study infinitesimal deformations of holomorphic maps of compact complex manifolds. In particular, using L-infinity structures, we give an explicit description of the differential graded Lie algebra that controls this problem.
An A-infinity algebra is given by a codifferential on the tensor coalgebra of a (graded) vector space. An associative algebra is a special case of an A-infinity algebra, determined by a quadratic codifferential. The notions of Hochschild and cyclic cohomology generalize from associative to A-infinity algebras, and classify the infinitesimal deformations of the algebra, and those deformations preserving an invariant inner product, respectively. Similarly, an L-infinity algebra is given by a codifferential on the exterior coalgebra of a vector space, with Lie algebras being special cases given b…
In this notes, we study some basic deformation of A-infinity algebra. It includes a two-dimensional rescaling deformation and the Maurer-Cartan element or bounding cochain deformation used in Lagrangian Floer Homology theory. We show that such deformation always can be derived from some (weakly) strict endomorphism equivalently.
In this paper we will study deformations of A-infinity algebras. We will also answer questions relating to Moore algebras which are one of the simplest nontrivial examples of an A-infinity algebra. We will compute the Hochschild cohomology of odd Moore algebras and classify them up to a unital weak equivalence. We will construct miniversal deformations of particular Moore algebras and relate them to the universal odd and even Moore algebras. Finally we will conclude with an investigation of formal one-parameter deformations of an A-infinity algebra.
We prove that, for every compact Kaehler manifold, the period map of its Kuranishi family is induced by a natural L-infinity morphism. This implies, by standard facts about L-infinity algebras, that the period map is a "morphism of deformation theories" and then commutes with all deformation theoretic constructions (e.g. obstructions).
To a homotopy algebra one may associate its deformation complex, which is naturally a differential graded Lie algebra. We show that infinity quasi-isomorphic homotopy algebras have L-infinity quasi-isomorphic deformation complexes by an explicit construction.
Given a coalgebra C over a cooperad, and an algebra A over an operad, it is often possible to define a natural homotopy Lie algebra structure on hom(C,A), the space of linear maps between them, called the convolution algebra of C and A. In the present article, we use convolution algebras to define the deformation complex for infinity-morphisms of algebras over operads and coalgebras over cooperads. We also complete the study of the compatibility between convolution algebras and infinity-morphisms of algebras and coalgebras. We prove that the convolution algebra bifunctor can be extended to a b…
Using the theory of extensions of L-infinity algebras, we construct rational homotopy models for classifying spaces of fibrations, giving answers in terms of classical homological functors, namely the Chevalley-Eilenberg and Harrison cohomology. We also investigate the algebraic structure of the Chevalley-Eilenberg complexes of L-infinity algebras and show that they possess, along with the Gerstenhaber bracket, an L-infinity structure that is homotopy abelian.
We define and study the cohomology theories associated to A-infinity algebras and cyclic A-infinity algebras equipped with an involution, generalising dihedral cohomology to the A-infinity context. Such algebras arise, for example, as unoriented versions of topological conformal field theories. It is well known that Hochschild cohomology and cyclic cohomology govern, in a precise sense, the deformation theory of A-infinity algebras and cyclic A-infinity algebras and we give analogous results for the deformation theory in the presence of an involution. We also briefly discuss generalisations of…
An associative algebra is nothing but an odd quadratic codifferential on the tensor coalgebra of a vector space, and an A-infinity algebra is simply an arbitrary odd codifferential. Hochschild cohomology classifies the deformations of an associative algebra into an A-infinity algebra, and cyclic cohomology in the presence of an invariant inner product classifies the deformations of the associative algebra into an A-infinity algebra preserving the inner product. Similarly, a graded Lie algebra is simply a special case of an odd codifferential on the exterior coalgebra of a vector space, and an …
We explicitly construct a universal A-infinity deformation of Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras, with all coefficients expressed as rational sums of multiple zeta values. If the Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra that we start with is cyclic, then so is the A-infinity deformation. Moreover, the adjoint action of the odd Poisson bracket acts by derivations of the A-infinity structure. The construction conjecturally defines a new presentation of the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra.
This note is an overview of the Poisson sigma model (PSM) and its applications in deformation quantization. Reduction of coisotropic and pre-Poisson submanifolds, their appearance as branes of the PSM, quantization in terms of L-infinity and A-infinity algebras, and bimodule structures are recalled. As an application, an "almost" functorial quantization of Poisson maps is presented if no anomalies occur. This leads in principle to a novel approach for the quantization of Poisson-Lie groups.
In this paper we describe a construction which produces classes in a compactification of the moduli space of curves. This construction extends a construction of Kontsevich which produces classes in the open moduli space from the initial data of a cyclic A-infinity algebra. The initial data for our construction is what we call a `quantum A-infinity algebra', which arises as a type of deformation of a cyclic A-infinity algebra. The deformation theory for these structures is described explicitly. We construct a family of examples of quantum A-infinity algebras which extend a family of cyclic A-in…
We present a general method to construct bulk-deformed open topological string theories from Landau-Ginzburg models. To this end we obtain a weak version of deformation quantisation, and we show how this together with the technique of homological perturbation allows to explicitly compute all bulk-deformed open topological string amplitudes at tree-level before tadpole-cancellation. Our approach is based on a coherent treatment of the problem in terms of the fundamental A-infinity- and L-infinity-structures involved.
We give a new short proof that the wheeled operad of unimodular Lie algebras is Koszul and use this to explicitly construct its minimal resolution. A representation of this resolution in a finite dimensional vector space V we call a unimodular L-infinity algebra. Such a structure corresponds to a homological vector field on V together with an invariant measure. We present explicit formulae for homotopy transferred structures, define the deformation complex and give a cohomological obstruction to the extension of an arbitrary structure of finite dimensional L-infinity algebra to a structure of …
Recently the first two authors constructed an L-infinity morphism using the S^1-equivariant version of the Poisson Sigma Model (PSM). Its role in deformation quantization was not entirely clear. We give here a "good" interpretation and show that the resulting formality statement is equivalent to formality on cyclic chains as conjectured by Tsygan and proved recently by several authors.
We give a construction of an L-infinity map from any L-infinity algebra into its truncated Chevalley-Eilenberg complex as well as its cyclic and A-infinity analogues. This map fits with the inclusion into the full Chevalley-Eilenberg complex (or its respective analogues) to form a homotopy fiber sequence of L-infinity-algebras. Application to deformation theory and graph homology are given. We employ the machinery of Maurer-Cartan functors in L-infinity and A-infinity algebras and associated twistings which should be of independent interest.
