In this paper, we consider the versal deformations of three dimensional Lie algebras. We classify Lie algebras and study their deformations by using linear algebra techniques to study the cohomology. We will focus on how the deformations glue the space of all such structures together. This space is known as the moduli space. We will give a geometric description of this space, derived from deformation theory, in order to illustrate general features of moduli spaces of Lie algebras.
We study the moduli space of four dimensional ordinary Lie algebras, and their versal deformations. Their classification is well known; our focus in this paper is on the deformations, which yield a picture of how the moduli space is assembled. Surprisingly, we get a nice geometric description of this moduli space essentially as an orbifold, with just a few exceptional points.
Jump deformations and contractions of Lie algebras are inverse concepts, but the approaches to their computations are quite different. In this paper, we contrast the two approaches, showing how to compute jump deformations from the miniversal deformation of a Lie algebra, and thus arrive at the contractions. We also compute contractions directly. We use the moduli spaces of real 3-dimensional and complex 3 and 4-dimensional Lie algebras as models for explaining a deformation theory approach to computation of contractions.
We study the dual ${\rm G}^\ast$ of a standard semisimple Poisson-Lie group ${\rm G}$ from a perspective of cluster theory. We show that the coordinate ring $\mathcal{O}({\rm G}^\ast)$ can be naturally embedded into a cluster Poisson algebra with a Weyl group action. We prove that $\mathcal{O}({\rm G}^\ast)$ admits a natural basis which has positive integer structure coefficients and satisfies an invariance property with respect to a braid group action. We continue the study of the moduli space $\mathscr{P}_{{\rm G},\mathbb{S}}$ of ${\rm G}$-local systems introduced in \cite{GS3}, and prove th…
We give simple explicit formulas for deformation quantization of Poisson-Lie groups and of similar Poisson manifolds which can be represented as moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces. The star products depend on a choice of Drinfeľd associator and are obtained by applying certain monoidal functors (fusion and reduction) to commutative algebras in Drinfeľd categories. From a geometric point of view this construction can be understood as a quantization of the quasi-Poisson structures on moduli spaces of flat connections.
We prove that the degree zero Hochschild-type cohomology of the homology operad of Francis Brown's dihedral moduli spaces is equal to the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra plus two classes. This significantly elucidates the (in part still conjectural) relation between the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra and (motivic) multiple zeta values.
We consider global generation of sheaves of coinvariants on the moduli space of curves given by simple modules over certain vertex operator algebras, extending results for affine VOAs at integrable levels on stable pointed rational curves. Examples where global generation fails, and further evidence of positivity are given.
This paper is a continuation to understand Heisenberg vertex algebras in terms of moduli spaces of their conformal structures. We study the moduli space of the conformal structures on a Heisenberg vertex algebra that have the standard fixed conformal gradation. As we know in Proposition 3.1 in Sect.3, conformal vectors of the Heisenberg vertex algebra $V_{\hatη}(1,0)$ that have the standard fixed conformal gradation is parameterized by a complex vector $h$ of its weight-one subspace. First, we classify all such conformal structures of the Heisenberg vertex algebra $V_{\hatη}(1,0)$ by describin…
This work is a continuation of the former paper in which principal bundles are given by compact spin toric manifolds and compact connected semisimple Lie groups. In this paper, ambient manifolds are assumed to be compact toric manifolds and Lie groups are compact connected. The main result is that locally smooth manifolds are the instanton moduli spaces of the noncommutative vector bundles over noncommutative 4-manifolds associated with highest weights of the compact Lie groups. Moreover their dimensions are described explicitly in terms of given principal bundles and highest weights. As a cor…
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the cohomology of various algebras over an operad of moduli spaces including the cohomology of conformal field theories (CFT's) and vertex operator algebras (VOA's). This cohomology theory produces a number of invariants of CFT's and VOA's, one of which is the space of their infinitesimal deformations.
We describe an efficient construction of a canonical non-commutative deformation of the algebraic functions on the moduli spaces of flat connections on a Riemann surface. We show that this algebra, which is a variant of the quantum moduli algebra introduced by Alekseev-Grosse-Schomerus and Buffenoir-Roche, has a trace functional which is related to the canonical trace in the formal index theory of Fedosov and Nest-Tsygan via the Verlinde formula.
We introduce the notion of cyclic cohomology of an A-infinity algebra and show that the deformations of an A-infinity algebra which preserve an invariant inner product are classified by this cohomology. We use this result to construct some cycles on the moduli space of algebraic curves. The paper also contains a review of some well known notions and results about Hochschild and cyclic cohomology of associative algebras, A-infinity algebras, and deformation theory of algebras, and includes a discussion of the homology of the graph complex of metric ribbon graphs which is associated to the modul…
The space of generalized projective structures on a Riemann surface $Σ$ of genus g with n marked points is the affine space over the cotangent bundle to the space of SL(N)-opers. It is a phase space of $W_N$-gravity on $Σ\times\mathbb{R}$. This space is a generalization of the space of projective structures on the Riemann surface. We define the moduli space of $W_N$-gravity as a symplectic quotient with respect to the canonical action of a special class of Lie algebroids. This moduli space describes in particular the moduli space of deformations of complex structures on the Riemann surface by …
Methods of Harder and Narasimhan from the theory of moduli of vector bundles are applied to moduli of quiver representations. Using the Hall algebra approach to quantum groups, an analog of the Harder-Narasimhan recursion is constructed inside the quantized enveloping algebra of a Kac-Moody algebra. This leads to a canonical orthogonal system, the HN system, in this algebra. Using a resolution of the recursion, an explicit formula for the HN system is given. As an application, explicit formulas for Betti numbers of the cohomology of quiver moduli are derived, generalizing several results on th…
We describe the (equivariant) intersection cohomology of certain moduli spaces ("framed Uhlenbeck spaces") together with some structures on them (such as e.g.\ the Poincaré pairing) in terms of representation theory of some vertex operator algebras ("$\mathscr W$-algebras").
In this paper we study spaces of algebras over an operad (non-symmetric) in symmetric monoidal model categories. We first compute the homotopy fiber of the forgetful functor sending an algebra to its underlying object, extending a result of Rezk. We then apply this computation to the construction of geometric moduli stacks of algebras over an operad in a homotopical algebraic geometry context in the sense of Toën and Vezzosi. We show under mild hypotheses that the moduli stack of unital associative algebras is a Zariski open substack of the moduli stack of non-necessarily unital associative al…
We connect the homotopy type of simplicial moduli spaces of algebraic structures to the cohomology of their deformation complexes. Then we prove that under several assumptions, mapping spaces of algebras over a monad in an appropriate diagram category form affine stacks in the sense of Toen-Vezzosi's homotopical algebraic geometry. This includes simplicial moduli spaces of algebraic structures over a given object (for instance a cochain complex). When these algebraic structures are parametrised by properads, the tangent complexes give the known cohomology theory for such structures and there i…
We set up a Batalin-Vilkovisky Quantum Master Equation for open-closed string theory and show that the corresponding moduli spaces give rise to a solution, a generating function for their fundamental chains. The equation encodes the topological structure of the compactification of the moduli space of bordered Riemann surfaces. The moduli spaces of bordered J-holomorphic curves are expected to satisfy the same equation, and from this viewpoint, our paper treats the case of the target space equal to a point. We also introduce the notion of a symmetric Open-Closed Topological Conformal Field Theo…
We propose an explicit relation between the cohomology of compactified and noncompactified moduli spaces of algebraic curves with punctures. This relationship generalizes one between commutative algebras and Lie algebras proposed by Lazard, Kontsevich and Ginzburg and Kapranov. More explicitly, we show that the cohomology of one moduli space is the graph complex decorated with the cohomology of the other, which in its turn generalizes Getzler's result for the genus zero moduli. We also show that a certain class of algebras over the chain operad of compactified moduli spaces has a natural struc…
In this paper we show that the homology of a certain natural compactification of the moduli space, introduced by Kontsevich in his study of Witten's conjectures, can be described completely algebraically as the homology of a certain differential graded Lie algebra. This two-parameter family is constructed by using a Lie cobracket on the space of noncommutative 0-forms, a structure which corresponds to pinching simple closed curves on a Riemann surface, to deform the noncommutative symplectic geometry described by Kontsevich in his subsequent papers.
The structure of the centres ${\cal Z}(\Lg)$ and ${\cal Z}(\Mg)$ of the graph algebra ${\cal L}_g(sl_2)$ and the moduli algebra ${\cal M}_g(sl_2)$ is studied at roots of 1. It it shown that ${\cal Z}(\Lg)$ can be endowed with the structure of the Poisson graph algebra. The elements of $Spec({\cal Z}(\Mg))$ are shown to satisfy the defining relation for the holonomies of a flat connection along the cycles of a Riemann surface. The irreducible representations of the graph algebra are constructed.
Let $G$ be a simple complex Lie group, $\alg{g}$ be its Lie algebra, $K$ be a maximal compact form of $G$ and $\alg{k}$ be a Lie algebra of $K$. We denote by $X\rightarrow \overline{X}$ the anti-involution of $\alg{g}$ which singles out the compact form $\alg{k}$. Consider the space of flat $\alg{g}$-valued connections on a Riemann sphere with three holes which satisfy the additional condition $\overline{A(z)}=-A(\overline{z})$. We call the quotient of this space over the action of the gauge group $\overline{g(z)}=g^{-1}(\overline{z})$ a \emph{hyperbolic} moduli space of flat connections. We p…
The non-commutative algebraic analog of the moduli of vector and covector fields is built. The structure of moduli of derivations of non-commutative algebras are studied. The canonical coupling is introduced and the conditions for appropriate moduli to be reflexive are obtained.
Motivated by ideas from stable homotopy theory we study the space of strongly homotopy associative multiplications on a two-cell chain complex. In the simplest case this moduli space is isomorphic to the set of orbits of a group of invertible power series acting on a certain space. The Hochschild cohomology rings of resulting A-infinity algebras have an interpretation as totally ramified extensions of discrete valuation rings. All A-infinity algebras are supposed to be unital and we give a detailed analysis of unital structures which is of independent interest.
Using the formalism of discrete quantum group gauge theory, one can construct the quantum algebras of observables for the Hamiltonian Chern-Simons model. The resulting moduli algebras provide quantizations of the algebra of functions on the moduli spaces of flat connections on a punctured 2-dimensional surface. In this note we describe some features of these moduli algebras with special emphasis on the natural action of mapping class groups. This leads, in particular, to a closed formula for representations of the mapping class groups on conformal blocks.
In this paper we describe a construction which produces classes in a compactification of the moduli space of curves. This construction extends a construction of Kontsevich which produces classes in the open moduli space from the initial data of a cyclic A-infinity algebra. The initial data for our construction is what we call a `quantum A-infinity algebra', which arises as a type of deformation of a cyclic A-infinity algebra. The deformation theory for these structures is described explicitly. We construct a family of examples of quantum A-infinity algebras which extend a family of cyclic A-in…
We construct a representation of the affine W-algebra of gl_r on the equivariant homology space of the moduli space of U_r-instantons on A^2, and identify the corresponding module. As a corollary we give a proof of a version of the AGT conjecture concerning pure N=2 gauge theory for the group SU(r). Another proof has been announced by Maulik and Okounkov. Our approach uses a suitable deformation of the universal enveloping algebra of the Witt algebra W_{1+\infty}, which is shown to act on the above homology spaces (for any r) and which specializes to all W(gl_r). This deformation is in turn co…
