We propose a definition of ``nonabelian mixed Hodge structure'' together with a construction associating to a smooth projective variety $X$ and to a nonabelian mixed Hodge structure $V$, the ``nonabelian cohomology of $X$ with coefficients in $V$'' which is a (pre-)nonabelian mixed Hodge structure denoted $H=Hom(X_M, V)$. We describe the basic definitions and then give some conjectures saying what is supposed to happen. At the end we compute an example: the case where $V$ has underlying homotopy type the complexified 2-sphere, and mixed Hodge structure coming from its identification with $\pp ^1$. For this example we show that $Hom (X_M,V)$ is a namhs for any smooth projective variety $X$.
We establish the twisted functoriality in nonabelian Hodge theory in positive characteristic. As an application, we obtain a purely algebraic proof of the fact that the pullback of a semistable Higgs bundle with vanishing Chern classes is again semistable.
The nonabelian Hodge correspondence for vector bundles over noncompact curves is adequately described by implementing a weighted filtration on the objects involved. In order to establish a full correspondence between a Dolbeault and a de Rham space for a general complex reductive group $G$, we introduce torsors given by parahoric group schemes in the sense of Bruhat--Tits. Combined with existing results on the Riemann--Hilbert correspondence for logarithmic parahoric connections, this gives a full nonabelian Hodge correspondence from Higgs bundles to fundamental group representations over a no…
This short note is extracted from Section 3 and Appendix of the paper entitled with Intersection de Rham complexes in positive characteristic by the same named authors, where an explicit infinite homotopy from a Higgs complex to the Frobenius pushforward of the corresponding de Rham complex in positive characteristic has been provided. The verification details, which are omitted therein, are provided here.
The nonabelian Hodge correspondence (Corlette-Simpson correspondence), between the polystable Higgs bundles with vanishing Chern classes on a compact Kähler manifold $X$ and the completely reducible flat connections on $X$, is extended to the Fujiki class $\mathcal C$ manifolds.
We refine the Morgan's work on mixed Hodge structures on Sullivan's $1$--minimal models by using non-abelian Hodge theory. As an application, we give explicit representatives of real unipotent variations of mixed Hodge structures over compact K"ahler manifolds.

We examine the relationship between nonabelian Hodge theory for Riemann surfaces and the theory of vector valued modular forms. In particular, we explain how one might use this relationship to prove a conjectural three-term inequality on the weights of free bases of vector valued modular forms associated to complex, finite dimensional, irreducible representations of the modular group. This conjecture is known for irreducible unitary representations and for all irreducible representations of dimension at most 12. We prove new instances of the three-term inequality for certain nonunitary represe…
We generalise Simpson's nonabelian Hodge correspondence to the context of projective varieties with klt singularities. The proof relies on a descent theorem for numerically flat vector bundles along birational morphisms. In its simplest form, this theorem asserts that given any klt variety X and any resolution of singularities, then any vector bundle on the resolution that appears to come from X numerically, does indeed come from X. Furthermore and of independent interest, a new restriction theorem for semistable Higgs sheaves defined on the smooth locus of a normal, projective variety is esta…
In this paper, we study the bigraded vector space structure of Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds. We prove the formula for the generating function of the Hodge numbers of possibly nonabelian Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds. As an application, we calculate the Hodge numbers for all nondegenerate quintic homogeneous polynomials with five variables. These results yield an evidence for the Calabi-Yau/Landau-Ginzburg correspondence between the Calabi-Yau geometries and the Landau-Ginzburg B-models.
For a complex simple simply connected Lie group $G$, and a compact Riemann surface $C$, we consider two sorts of families of flat $G$-connections over $C$. Each family is determined by a point ${\mathbf u}$ of the base of Hitchin's integrable system for $(G,C)$. One family $\nabla_{\hbar,{\mathbf u}}$ consists of $G$-opers, and depends on $\hbar \in {\mathbb C}^\times$. The other family $\nabla_{R,ζ,{\mathbf u}}$ is built from solutions of Hitchin's equations, and depends on $ζ\in {\mathbb C}^\times, R \in {\mathbb R}^+$. We show that in the scaling limit $R \to 0$, $ζ= \hbar R$, we have $\nab…
Arising from a topological twist of $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super Yang-Mills theory are the Kapustin-Witten equations, a family of gauge-theoretic equations on a four-manifold parametrized by $t\in\mathbb{P}^1$. The parameter corresponds to a linear combination of two super charges in the twist. When $t=0$ and the four-manifold is a compact Kähler surface, the equations become the Simpson equations, which was originally studied by Hitchin on a compact Riemann surface, as demonstrated independently in works of Nakajima and the third-named author. At the same time, there is a notion of $λ$-connection …
For an algebraic vector bundle $E$ over a smooth algebraic variety $X$, a monodromic $D$-module on $E$ is decomposed into a direct sum of some $O$-modules on $X$. We show that the Hodge filtration of a monodromic mixed Hodge module is decomposed with respect to the decomposition of the underlying $D$-module. By using this result, we endow the Fourier-Laplace transform $M^{\wedge}$ of the underlying $D$-module $M$ of a monodromic mixed Hodge module with a mixed Hodge module structure. Moreover, we describe the irregular Hodge filtration on $M^{\wedge}$ concretely and show that it coincides with…
We explain some fundamental differences between the theories of mixed Hodge modules and mixed twistor modules (including the difference in weight system on the nearby cycle functor) which do not seem to be clarified explicitly in the literature.
In this article we are interested in morphisms without slope for mixed Hodge modules. We first show the commutativity of iterated nearby cycles and vanishing cycles applied to a mixed Hodge module in the case of a morphism without slope. Then we define the notion "strictly without slope" for a mixed Hodge module and we show the preservation of this condition under the direct image by a proper morphism. As an application we prove the compatibility of the Hodge filtration and Kashiwara-Malgrange filtrations for some pure Hodge modules with support an hypersurface with quasi-ordinary singularitie…
For a smooth algebraic variety $X$, a monodromic $D$-module on $X\times \mathbb{C}$ is decomposed into a direct sum of some $D$-modules on $X$. We show that the Hodge filtration of a mixed Hodge module on $X\times \mathbb{C}$ whose underlying $D$-module is monodromic is also decomposed. Moreover, we show that there is an equivalence of categories between the category of monodromic mixed Hodge modules on $X\times \mathbb{C}$ and the category of ``gluing data''. As an application, we endow the Fourier-Laplace transformation of the underlying $D$-module of a monodromic mixed Hodge module with a m…
This note is inspired by the work of Deligne on the local behavior of Hodge structures at infinity. We study limit mixed Hodge structures of degenerating families of compact hyperkähler manifolds. We show that when the monodromy action on $H^2$ has maximal index of unipotency, the limit mixed Hodge structures on all cohomology groups are of Hodge-Tate type.
