We compute the complete topological expansion of the formal hermitian two-matrix model. For this, we refine the previously formulated diagrammatic rules for computing the 1/ N expansion of the nonmixed correlation functions and give a new formulation of the spectral curve. We extend these rules obtaining a closed formula for correlation functions in all orders of topological expansion. We then integrate it to obtain the free energy in terms of residues on the associated Riemann surface.
We prove that the BGW and HCIZ integrals admit large N topological expansions for complex coupling and complex external fields, provided the coupling is sufficiently strong. The expansion coefficients are holomorphic functions which are genus-specific generating functions for the monotone single and double Hurwitz numbers, respectively.
One-dimensional topological gravity is defined as a Gaussian integral as its partition function. The Gaussian integral supplies a toy model as a simpler version of one-matrix model that is well known to provide a description of two-dimensional topological gravity. The one-dimensional topological gravity inherits an integrable hierarchy structure as with two-dimensional topological gravity, yet it is the Burgers hierarchy rather than the Korteweg--de Vries hierarchy. Making use of this fact, an extension of the one-dimensional topological gravity to an analogue of two-matrix model is investigat…
In this paper we continue the perturbative analysis of the quartic Kontsevich model. We investigate meromorphic functions $Ω^{(0)}_m$ with $m=1,2$, that obey blobbed topological recursion. We calculate their expansions and check their equivalence to sums of ribbon graph weights, which are obtained with common methods of perturbation theory in QFT, up to fifth order in the coupling using Mathematica. Furthermore, we provide a catalog of permutation pairs $(α,σ)$, which encode all 5660 vacuum ribbon graphs that contribute to the free energy $\mathcal{F}^{(g)}$ with genus $g\geq 0$ up to fifth or…
We study difference equations which are obtained from the asymptotic expansion of topological string theory on the deformed and the resolved conifold geometries as well as for topological string theory on arbitrary families of Calabi-Yau manifolds near generic singularities at finite distance in the moduli space. Analytic solutions in the topological string coupling to these equations are found. The solutions are given by known special functions and can be used to extract the strong coupling expansion as well as the non-perturbative content. The strong coupling expansions show the characterist…
We consider two different genus expansions of the free energy functions of Hermitian one-matrix models, one using fat graphs, one using ordinary graphs (thin graphs). Some structural results are first proved for the thin version of genus expansion using renormalized coupling constants, and then applied to the fat version.
We give expansions of reproducing kernels of the Christoffel-Darboux type in terms of Schur polynomials. For this, we use evaluations of averages of characteristic polynomials and Schur polynomials in random matrix ensembles. We explicitly compute new Schur averages, such as the Schur average in a $q$-Laguerre ensemble, and the ensuing expansions of random matrix kernels. In addition to classical and $q$-deformed cases on the real line, we use extensions of Dotsenko-Fateev integrals to obtain expressions for kernels on the complex plane. Moreover, a known interplay between Wronskians of Laguer…

We study $\hbar$ expansion of the KP hierarchy following Takasaki-Takebe arXiv:hep-th/9405096 considering several examples of matrix model $τ$-functions with natural genus expansion. Among the examples there are solutions of KP equations of special interest, such as generating function for simple Hurwitz numbers, Hermitian matrix model, Kontsevich model and Brezin-Gross-Witten model. We show that all these models with parameter $\hbar$ are $τ$-functions of the $\hbar$-KP hierarchy and the expansion in $\hbar$ for the $\hbar$-KP coincides with the genus expansion for these models. Furthermore, …
We use the Riemann-Hilbert approach, together with string and Toda equations, to study the topological expansion in the quartic random matrix model. The coefficients of the topological expansion are generating functions for the numbers $\mathscr{N}_j(g)$ of $4$-valent connected graphs with $j$ vertices on a compact Riemann surface of genus $g$. We explicitly evaluate these numbers for Riemann surfaces of genus $0,1,2,$ and $3$. Also, for a Riemann surface of an arbitrary genus $g$, we also calculate the leading term in the asymptotics of $\mathscr{N}_j(g)$ as the number of vertices tends to in…
Dubrovin establishes the relationship between the GUE partition function and the partition function of Gromov--Witten invariants of the complex projective line. In this paper, we give a direct proof of Dubrovin's result. We also present in a diagram the recent progress on topological gravity and matrix gravity.

In this article, we study the large $n$ asymptotic expansions of $n\times n$ Toeplitz determinants whose symbols are indicator functions of unions of arc-intervals of the unit circle. In particular, we use an Hermitian matrix model reformulation of the problem to provide a rigorous derivation of the general form of the large $n$ expansion when the symbol is an indicator function of either a single arc-interval or several arc-intervals with a discrete rotational symmetry. Moreover, we prove that the coefficients in the expansions can be reconstructed, up to some constants, from the Eynard-Orant…
We consider the homogeneous Bose gas on a unit torus in the mean-field regime when the interaction strength is proportional to the inverse of the particle number. In the limit when the number of particles becomes large, we derive a two-term expansion of the one-body density matrix of the ground state. The proof is based on a cubic correction to Bogoliubov's approximation of the ground state energy and the ground state.
