In this note, we study Schwarz's conjecture on application of Q-algebras to strict quantization. We prove that in the case of a torus with a constant Poisson structure, Schwarz's formalism gives the same star product as Rieffel \cite{rif:quantization}. We construct twisted Fock modules as examples of quantization dg-modules in the case of a compact Kähler manifold. In particular, we relate this construction on $\complex\mathbb{P}^1$ to representations of a fuzzy sphere.
We propose an alternative method for Feynman path integrals on compact Riemannian manifolds. Our method employs action integrals along the shortest paths. In the case of rank 1 locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds, we prove the strong convergence of time slicing products of oscillatory integrals for low energy functions. Moreover, the strong limit includes Dewitt curvature $R/6$, where $R$ denotes the scalar curvature of a Riemannian manifold.
These notes give an introduction to the quantization procedure called geometric quantization. It gives a definition of the mathematical background for its understanding and introductions to classical and quantum mechanics, to differentiable manifolds, symplectic manifolds and the geometry of line bundles and connections. Moreover, these notes are endowed with several exercises and examples.
A proposed definition is given for the quantization of a Poisson algebra, taking the quantum product to be a geodesic on the manifold of associative products.
We construct the commutative Poisson algebra of classical Hamiltonians in field theory. We pose the problem of quantization of this Poisson algebra. We also make some interesting computations in the known quadratic part of the quantum algebra.
This is the current form of lecture notes on my approach to field quantization. I explain on a simple scalar-field model the physical motivation and show some preliminary applications (field produced by a pointlike charge, the vacuum-to-vacuum loop diagram, the Casimir presure). The approach is based on an appropriate construction of a representation of harmonic-oscillator Lie algebra and a sequential definition of Dirac deltas.
In present paper, we quantize the extended SchrÄodinger-Virasoro Lie algebra in char- acteristic zero with its Lie bialgebra structures classified by Yuan-Wu-Xu, and get a new Hopf algebra.
These notes are based on the course given at the School of Geometry, University Kasdi Merbah (Ouargla) 2012. The aim of the course was the deformation quantization of Poisson Lie groups. In these notes we only review Kontsevich's formality theorem.
In these notes we construct a quantization functor, associating an Hilbert space H(V) to a finite dimensional symplectic vector space V over a finite field F_q. As a result, we obtain a canonical model for the Weil representation of the symplectic group Sp(V). The main technical result is a proof of a stronger form of the Stone-von Neumann theorem for the Heisenberg group over F_q. Our result answers, for the case of the Heisenberg group, a question of Kazhdan about the possible existence of a canonical Hilbert space attached to a coadjoint orbit of a general unipotent group over F_q.
One introduces the notion of C*-algebra with polarization which could be considered as the quantum Kahler structure. The connection of these algebras with Kostant-Souriou geometric quantization is shown. The theory of polarized C*-algebra is investigated by the use of the coherent states method.
An analogue of geometric quantization of Poisson algebras obtained by algebraic reduction of symmetries is developed. Interpretation of the obtained results and their application to the problem of commutativity of quantization and reduction are given
Two coalgebra structures are used in quantum field theory. The first one is the coalgebra part of a Hopf algebra leading to deformation quantization. The second one is a co-module co-algebra over the first Hopf algebra and it is used to define connected chronological products and renormalization.
The aim of this short note is to present a proof of the existence of an $A_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism between the $A_\infty$-$\mathrm S(V^*)$-$\wedge(V)$-bimodule $K$, introduced in \cite{CFFR}, and the Koszul complex $\mathrm K(V)$ of $\mathrm S(V^*)$, viewed as an $A_\infty$-$\mathrm S(V^*)$-$\wedge(V)$-bimodule, for $V$ a finite-dimensional (complex or real) vector space.
Quantization relates Poisson algebras to $C^*$-algebras. The analysis of local gauge symmetries in algebraic quantum field theory is approached through the quantization of classical gauge theories, regarded as constrained dynamical systems. This approach is based on the analogy between symplectic reduction and Rieffel induction on the classical and on the quantum side, respectively. Thus one is led to a description of e.g. $θ$-angles and gauge anomalies in the algebraic setting.
In this paper, the quantization and generalized uncertainty relation for some quantum deformed algebras are investigated. For several deformed algebras, the commutation relation between the position and the momentum operator is shown to be the same as the one in the Planck scale deformed quantum mechanics.
In a recent paper by the authors, Lie bialgebra structures on generalized Heisenberg- Virasoro algebra L are considered. In this paper, the explicit formula of the quantization on generalized Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra is presented.
We describe the twist quantization of string worldsheet theory, which unifies the description of quantization and the target space symmetry, based on the twisting of Hopf and module algebras. We formulate a method of decomposing a twist into successive twists to analyze the twisted Hopf and module algebra structure, and apply it to several examples, including finite twisted diffeomorphism and extra treatment for zero modes.
A Lie-Rinehart algebra consists of a commutative algebra and a Lie algebra with additional structure which generalizes the mutual structure of interaction between the algebra of functions and the Lie algebra of smooth vector fields on a smooth manifold. Lie-Rinehart algebras provide the correct categorical language to solve the problem whether Kaehler quantization commutes with reduction which, in turn, may be seen as a descent problem.
Universal solutions to deformation quantization problems can be conveniently classified by the cohomology of suitable graph complexes. In particular, the deformation quantizations of (finite-dimensional) Poisson manifolds and Lie bialgebras are characterised by an action of the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group via one-colored directed and oriented graphs, respectively. In this note, we study the action of multi-oriented graph complexes on Lie bialgebroids and their "quasi" generalisations. Using results due to T. Willwacher and M. Zivković on the cohomology of (multi)-oriented graphs, we show th…
These lecture notes (from the Second Autumn School in High Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theory, Yerevan 2014) cover a number of topics related to geometric quantization. Most of the material is presented from a physicist's point of view. The original notes are posted at \verb+http://theorphyslab-ysu.info/VW_ASW-2014/uploads/ArmeniaLectures.pdf+. The have been revised with some additions and changes, although referencing is still somewhat dated. These notes are posted here as they may be good background material for some recent papers.
In this note we define one more way of quantization of classical systems. The quantization we consider is an analogue of classical Jordan-Schwinger (J.-S.) map which has been known and used for a long time by physicists. The difference, comparing to J.-S. map, is that we use generators of Cuntz algebra $\mathcal{O}_{\infty}$ (i.e. countable family of mutually orthogonal partial isometries of separable Hilbert space) as a "building blocks" instead of creation-annihilation operators. The resulting scheme satisfies properties similar to Van Hove prequantization i.e. exact conservation of Lie brac…
By using a coherent state quantization of paragrassmann variables, operators are constructed in finite Hilbert spaces. We thus obtain in a straightforward way a matrix representation of the paragrassmann algebra. This algebra of finite matrices realizes a deformed Weyl-Heisenberg algebra. The study of mean values in coherent states of some of these operators lead to interesting conclusions.
These are expanded notes of author's talk at the ECM 2008 attempting to give an elementary introduction into the main ideas of the theory of wheeled props for beginners, and also a survey of its most recent major applications (ranging from algebra and geometry to deformation theory and Batalin-Vilkovisky quantization) which might be of interest to experts.
The purpose of this paper is to study twistings of Poisson algebras or bialgebras, coPoisson algebras or bialgebras and star-products. We con- sider Hom-algebraic structures generalizing classical algebraic structures by twisting the identities by a linear self map. We summarize the results on Hom-Poisson algebras and introduce Hom-coPoisson algebras and bialge- bras. We show that there exists a duality between Hom-Poisson bialgebras and Hom-coPoisson bialgebras. A relationship between enveloping Hom- algebras endowed with Hom-coPoisson structures and corresponding Hom- Lie bialgebra structure…
The aim of this article is to give a quantization of some coisotropic subalgebras in complex semisimple Lie bialgebras. The coisotropic subalgebras that will be quantized are those given by Zambon in his paper "`A Construction for coisotropic subalgebras of Lie Bialgebras"' [Zam08]. We will also extend the construction for the exceptional complex semisimple Lie bialgebras.
In this paper, we first recall the notion of (noncommutative) Poisson conformal algebras and describe some constructions of them. Then we study the formal distribution (noncommutative) Poisson algebras and coefficient (noncommutative) Poisson algebras. Next, we introduce the notion of conformal formal deformations of commutative associative conformal algebras and show that Poisson conformal algebras are the corresponding semi-classical limits. At last, we develop the cohomology theory of noncommutative Poisson conformal algebras and use this cohomology to study their deformations.
We examine the Schrodinger algebra in the framework of Berezin quantization. First, the Heisenberg-Weyl and sl(2) algebras are studied. Then the Berezin representation of the Schrodinger algebra is computed. In fact, the sl(2) piece of the Schrodinger algebra can be decoupled from the Heisenberg component. This is accomplished using a special realization of the sl(2) component that is built from the Heisenberg piece as the quadratic elements in the Heisenberg-Weyl enveloping algebra. The structure of the Schrodinger algebra is revealed in a lucid way by the form of the Berezin representation.
It is shown that a Dirac bracket algebra is isomorphic to the original Poisson bracket algebra of first class functions subject to first class constraints. The isomorphic image of the Dirac bracket algebra in the star-product commutator algebra is found.
The quantization problem for the trace-bracket algebra, derived from double Poisson brackets, is discussed. We obtain a generalization of the boundary YBE (or so-called ABCD-algebra) for the quantization of quadratic trace-brackets. A dynamical deformation is proposed on the lines of Gervais-Neveu-Felder dynamical quantum algebras.
The Connes-Kreimer renormalization Hopf algebras are examples of a canonical quantization procedure for pre-Lie algebras. We give a simple construction of this quantization using the universal enveloping algebra for so-called twisted Lie algebras (Lie algebras in the category of symmetric sequences of k-modules). As an application, we obtain a simple proof of the (quantized) PBW theorem for Lie algebras which come from a pre-Lie product (over an arbitrary commutative ring). More generally, we observe that the quantization and the PBW theorem extend to pre-Lie algebras in arbitrary abelian symm…
We study several classes of non-associative algebras as possible candidates for deformation quantization in the direction of a Poisson bracket that does not satisfy Jacobi identities. We show that in fact alternative deformation quantization algebras require the Jacobi identities on the Poisson bracket and, under very general assumptions, are associative. At the same time, flexible deformation quantization algebras exist for any Poisson bracket.
After a presentation of the context and a brief reminder of deformation quantization, we indicate how the introduction of natural topological vector space topologies on Hopf algebras associated with Poisson Lie groups, Lie bialgebras and their doubles explains their dualities and provides a comprehensive framework. Relations with deformation quantization and applications to the deformation quantization of symmetric spaces are described
We introduce a notion of morphism of CohFT algebras, based on the analogy with A-infinity morphisms. We discuss a "quantization" of the classical Kirwan morphism to a morphism of CohFT algebras from the equivariant quantum cohomology of a G-variety to the quantum cohomology of its git or symplectic quotient, and an example relating to the orbifold quantum cohomology of a compact toric orbifold. Finally we identify the space of Cartier divisors on the moduli space of scaled marked curves; these appear in the splitting axiom.
We propose a generalization of quantization as a categorical way. For a fixed Poisson algebra quantization categories are defined as subcategories of R-module category with the structure of classical limits. We construct the generalized quantization categories including matrix regularization, strict deformation quantization, prequantization, and Poisson enveloping algebra, respectively. It is shown that the categories of strict deformation quantization, prequantization, and matrix regularization with some conditions are categorical equivalence. On the other hand, the categories of Poisson enve…
In 1998, A.Alekseev and E.Meinrenken construct an explicit $G$-differential space homomorphism $\mathcal{Q}$, called the quantization map, between the Weil algebra $\Weil{\g}= \sym{\co{\g}} \otimes \ext{\co{\g}}$ and $\NWeil{\g}=\U{\g} \otimes \Cl{\g}$ (which they called the noncommutative Weil algebra) for any quadratic Lie algebra $\g$. They showed that $\mathcal{Q}$ induces an algebra isomorphism between the basic cohomology rings $H^{\ast}_{bas}(\Weil{g})$ and $H^{\ast}_{bas}(\NWeil{\g})$. In this paper, I interpret the quantization map $\mathcal{Q}$ as the super Duflo map between the symm…
We propose a method of quantization of certain Lie bialgebra structures on the polynomial Lie algebras related to quasi-trigonometric solutions of the classical Yang--Baxter equation. The method is based on an affine realization of certain seaweed algebras and their quantum analogues. We also propose a method of $ω$-affinization, which enables us to quantize rational $r$-matrices of $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$.
Multiparametric quantum $gl(2)$ algebras are presented according to a classification based on their corresponding Lie bialgebra structures. From them, the non-relativistic limit leading to quantum harmonic oscillator algebras is implemented in the form of generalized Lie bialgebra contractions.
We introduce the notion of almost representations of Lie algebras and quantum tori, and establish an Ulam-stability type phenomenon: every irreducible almost representation is close to a genuine irreducible representation. As an application, we prove that geometric quantizations of the two-dimensional sphere and the two-dimensional torus are conjugate in the semi-classical limit up to a small error.
In this paper we show that the T-duality transform of Bouwknegt, Evslin and Mathai applies to determine isomorphisms of certain current algebras and their associated vertex algebras on topologically distinct T-dual spacetimes compactified to circle bundles with $H$-flux.
For any Lie groupoid $G$, the vector bundle $g^*$ dual to the associated Lie algebroid $g$ is canonically a Poisson manifold. The (reduced) C*-algebra of $G$ (as defined by A. Connes) is shown to be a strict quantization (in the sense of M. Rieffel) of $g^*$. This is proved using a generalization of Weyl's quantization prescription on flat space. Many other known strict quantizations are a special case of this procedure; on a Riemannian manifold, one recovers Connes' tangent groupoid as well as a recent generalization of Weyl's prescription. When $G$ is the gauge groupoid of a principal bundle…
We argue that the Landau-Hall states provide a suitable framework for formulating the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization of classical functions on a Kähler phase space. We derive the star-products for such functions in this framework and generalize the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization to matrix-valued classical functions. We also comment on how this is related to different calculations of the effective action for Hall systems.
We prove the existence of a strict deformation quantization for the canonical Poisson structure on the dual of an integrable Lie algebroid. It follows that any Lie groupoid C*-algebra may be regarded as a result of a quantization procedure. The C*-algebra of the tangent groupoid of a given Lie groupoid G (with Lie algebra g) is the C*-algebra of a continuous field of C*-algebras over R with fibers A_0=C*(g)=C_0(g*) and A_h=C*(G) for nonzero h. The same is true for the corresponding reduced C*-algebras. Our results have applications to, e.g., transformation group C*-algebras, K-theory, and inde…
The gauge invariant observables of the closed bosonic string are quantized without anomalies in four space-time dimensions by constructing their quantum algebra in a manifestly covariant approach. The quantum algebra is the kernel of a derivation on the universal envelopping algebra of an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra. The search for Hilbert space representations of this algebra is separated from its construction, and postponed.
Applying the classical Serre-Swan theorem, as this is extended to topological (non-normed) algebras, one attains a classification of elementary particles via their spin-structure. In this context, our argument is virtually based on a ``correspondence principle'' of S. A. Selesnick, formulated herewith in a sheaf-theoretic language, presisely speaking, in terms of vector sheaves. This then leads directly to second quantization, as well as, to other applications of geometric (pre)quantization theory.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of multiplier of a Hilbert algebra. The space of bounded multipliers is a semifinite von Neumann algebra isomorphic to the left von Neumann algebra of the Hilbert algebra, as expected. However, in the unbounded setting, the space of multipliers has the structure of a *-algebra with nice properties concerning commutant and affiliation: it is a pre-GW*-algebra. And this correspondence between Hilbert algebras and its multipliers is functorial. Then, we can endow the Hilbert algebra with a nice topology constructed from unbounded multipliers. As we can see f…
$C^*$-algebraic Weyl quantization is extended by allowing also degenerate pre-symplectic forms for the Weyl relations with infinitely many degrees of freedom, and by starting out from enlarged classical Poisson algebras. A powerful tool is found in the construction of Poisson algebras and non-commutative twisted Banach-$*$-algebras on the stage of measures on the not locally compact test function space. Already within this frame strict deformation quantization is obtained, but in terms of Banach-$*$-algebras instead of $C^*$-algebras. Fourier transformation and representation theory of the mea…
Many interesting C*-algebras can be viewed as quantizations of Poisson manifolds. I propose that a Poisson manifold may be quantized by a twisted polarized convolution C*-algebra of a symplectic groupoid. Toward this end, I define polarizations for Lie groupoids and sketch the construction of this algebra. A large number of examples show that this idea unifies previous geometric constructions, including geometric quantization of symplectic manifolds and the C*-algebra of a Lie groupoid.
The phase space given by the cotangent bundle of a Lie group appears in the context of several models for physical systems. A representation for the quantum system in terms of non-commutative functions on the (dual) Lie algebra, and a generalized notion of (non-commutative) Fourier transform, different from standard harmonic analysis, has been recently developed, and found several applications, especially in the quantum gravity literature. We show that this algebra representation can be defined on the sole basis of a quantization map of the classical Poisson algebra, and identify the condition…
In this paper, we initiate the study of nonassociative strict deformation quantization of C*-algebras with a torus action. We shall also present a definition of nonassociative principal torus bundles, and give a classification of these as nonassociative strict deformation quantization of ordinary principal torus bundles. We then relate this to T-duality of principal torus bundles with $H$-flux. We also show that the Octonions fit nicely into our theory.
A physical interpretation of the two-sheeted space, the most fundamental ingredient of noncommutative spectral geometry proposed by Connes as an approach to unification, is presented. It is shown that the doubling of the algebra is related to dissipation and to the gauge structure of the theory, the gauge field acting as a reservoir for the matter field. In a regime of completely deterministic dynamics, dissipation appears to play a key role in the quantization of the theory, according to 't Hooft's conjecture. It is thus argued that the noncommutative spectral geometry classical construction …
