We provide an arithmetic condition weaker then the Bryuno condition for which it is possible to apply a KAM scheme in dimension greater then one. The KAM scheme will be provided in the setting of linearization of analytic diffeomorphisms of the torus that are close to a rotation.
Linearization of analytic and non--analytic germs of diffeomorphisms of $({\mathbb C},0)$
Suppose that $M$ is a closed isotropic Riemannian manifold and that $R_1,...,R_m$ generate the isometry group of $M$. Let $f_1,...,f_m$ be smooth perturbations of these isometries. We show that the $f_i$ are simultaneously conjugate to isometries if and only if their associated uniform Bernoulli random walk has all Lyapunov exponents zero. This extends a linearization result of Dolgopyat and Krikorian from $S^n$ to real, complex, and quaternionic projective spaces. In addition, we identify and remedy an oversight in that earlier work.
Let $\mathcal{F}$ and $\mathcal{K}$ be commuting $C^\infty$ diffeomorphisms of the cylinder $\mathbb{T}\times\mathbb{R}$ that are, respectively, close to $\mathcal{F}_0 (x, y)=(x+ω(y), y)$ and $T_α(x, y)=(x+α, y)$, where $ω(y)$ is non-degenerate and $α$ is Diophantine. Using the KAM iterative scheme for the group action we show that $\mathcal{F}$ and $\mathcal{K}$ are simultaneously $C^\infty$-linearizable if $\mathcal{F}$ has the intersection property (including the exact symplectic maps) and $\mathcal{K}$ satisfies a semi-conjugacy condition. We also provide examples showing necessity of the…
We show a fibre-preserving self-diffeomorphism which has hyperbolic splittings along the fibres on a compact principal torus bundle is topologically conjugate to a map that is linear in the fibres.
Asaoka & Irie recently proved a $C^{\infty}$ closing lemma of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of closed surfaces. We reformulated their techniques into a more general perturbation lemma for area-preserving diffeomorphism and proved a $C^{\infty}$ closing lemma for area-preserving diffeomorphisms on a torus that is isotopic to identity. i.e., we show that the set of periodic orbits is dense for a generic diffeomorphism isotopic to identity area-preserving diffeomorphism on torus. The main tool is the flux vector of area-preserving diffeomorphisms which is, different from Hamiltonian cases, non-zero…
We study linear and non-linear small divisors problems in analytic and non-analytic regularity. We observe that the Bruno arithmetic condition, which is usually attached to non-linear analytic problems, can also be characterized as the optimal condition to solve the linear problem in some fixed non quasi-analytic class. Based on this observation, it is natural to conjecture that the optimal arithmetic condition for the linear problem is also optimal for non-linear small divisors problems in any reasonable non quasi-analytic classes. Our main result proves this conjecture in a representative no…
The isomorphism problem in ergodic theory was formulated by von Neumann in 1932 in his pioneering paper Zur Operatorenmethode in der klassischen Mechanik (Ann. of Math. (2), 33(3):587--642, 1932). The problem has been solved for some classes of transformations that have special properties, such as the collection of transformations with discrete spectrum or Bernoulli shifts. This paper shows that a general classification is impossible (even in concrete settings) by showing that the collection $E$ of pairs of ergodic, Lebesgue measure preserving diffeomorphisms $(S,T)$ of the 2-torus that are is…
We found a dichotomy involving the unstable Lyapunov exponent of a special Anosov endomorphism of the torus induced by the conjugacy with the linearization. In fact, either every unstable leaf meets on a set of zero measure the set for which is defined such unstable Lyapunov exponent or the endomorphims is smoothly conjugated with its linearization. Also we are able to characterize the absolute continuity of the intermediate foliation for a class of volume preserving special Anosov endomorphisms of $\mathbb{T}^3.$
In this article we demonstrate a way to extend the AbC (approximation by conjugation) method invented by Anosov and Katok from the smooth category to the category of real-analytic diffeomorphisms on the torus. We present a general framework for such constructions and prove several results. In particular, we construct minimal but not uniquely ergodic diffeomorphisms and nonstandard real-analytic realizations of toral translations.
In this paper, we obtain a solution to the 33rd Palis-Pugh problem for polar gradient-like diffeomorphisms on a two-dimensional torus, under the assumption that all non-wandering points are fixed and have a positive orientation type.
We consider holomorphic maps defined in an annulus around $\mathbb R/\mathbb Z$ in $\mathbb C/\mathbb Z$. E. Risler proved that in a generic analytic family of such maps $f_ζ$ that contains a Brjuno rotation $f_0(z)=z+α$, all maps that are conjugate to this rotation form a codimension-1 analytic submanifold near $f_0$. In this paper, we obtain the Risler's result as a corollary of the following construction. We introduce a renormalization operator on the space of univalent maps in a neighborhood of $\mathbb R/\mathbb Z$. We prove that this operator is hyperbolic, with one unstable direction co…
