We study the K-moduli space of products of Fano varieties in relation to the product of K-moduli spaces of the product components. We show that there exists a well-defined morphism from the product of K-moduli stacks of Fano varieties to the K-moduli stack of their product. Furthermore, we show that this morphism is an isomorphism if any two varieties with different irreducible components are non-isomorphic, and a torsor if they are. Our results rely on the theory of stacks and previous work by Zhuang.
We use our main result to obtain an explicit description of the K-moduli stack/ space of Fano threefolds with Picard rank greater than 6, along with a wall-crossing description, and a detailed polyhedral wall-crossing description for K-moduli of log Fano pairs.
This paper studies the moduli space of stable surfaces of general type. The moduli space component containing the moduli point of a product of smooth curves of general type is proved to be the product of the moduli spaces of the curves, unless the curves have the same genus, in which case it is the symmetric product of the moduli space of curves. This result follows from a study of deformation theory of products and the singularities of products of nodal curves (namely that the product of nodal curves has semilogcanonical singularities).
We use perfectoid spaces associated to abelian varieties and Siegel moduli spaces to study torsion points and ordinary CM points. We reprove the Manin-Mumford conjecture i.e. Raynaud's theorem. We also prove the Tate-Voloch conjecture for a product of Siegel moduli spaces namely ordinary CM points outside a closed subvariety can not be p-adically too close to it.
We introduce conjectures relating the Chow ring of a smooth Artin stack $\mathcal{X}$ to the Chow groups of its possibly singular good moduli space $X$. In particular, we conjecture the existence of an intersection product on a subgroup of the full Chow group $A^*(X)$ coming from strong cycles on $\mathcal{X}$.
We study the moduli space of a product of stable varieties over the field of complex numbers, as defined via the minimal model program. Our main results are: (a) taking products gives a well-defined morphism from the product of moduli spaces of stable varieties to the moduli space of a product of stable varieties, (b) this map is always finite étale, and (c) this map very often is an isomorphism. Our results generalize and complete the work of Van Opstall in dimension 1. The local results rely on a study of the cotangent complex using some derived algebro-geometric methods, while the global on…
It is known that the moduli space of plane quartic curves is birational to an arithmetic quotient of a 6-dimensional complex ball. In this paper, we shall show that there exists a 15-dimensional space of meromorphic automorphic forms on the complex ball which gives a birational embedding of the moduli space of plane quartics with level 2 structure into 14-dimensional projective space. This map coincides with the one given by Coble by using Gopel invariants.
We exhibit a smooth compactification of the moduli space of elliptic curves in a product of projective spaces with tangency along a subset of its toric boundary divisors. This is a Vakil--Zinger type of desingularization for maps to a product of projective spaces using ideas of elliptic singularities and logarithmic geometry, extending the recent work by Ranganathan--Santos-Parker--Wise. We use this to construct the virtual fundamental classes of the spaces of genus 1 maps to a special class of simple normal crossings pairs.
Let $X$ be a smooth projective curve of genus $g \geq 2$ and $M$ be the moduli space of rank 2 stable vector bundles on $X$ whose determinants are isomorphic to a fixed odd degree line bundle $L$. There has been a lot of works studying the moduli and recently the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on $M$ draws lots of attentions. It was proved that the derived category of $X$ can be embedded into the derived category of $M$ by the second named author and Fonarev-Kuznetsov. In this paper we prove that the derived category of the second symmetric product of $X$ can be embedded into der…
We use the moduli space of stable curves to determine the stable (in the sense of Kollár-Shepherd-Barron) degenerations of surfaces isogenous to a product of stable curves. A recent family of examples of Catanese show that the moduli space of such smooth surfaces may have two components. The main result of this note is that these components do not meet in the stable compactification. To the best of my knowledge this gives the first example of a moduli space of stable surfaces with multiple connected components parameterizing diffeomorphic smooth surfaces. Comments are appreciated.
We give a short and "classical" proof of Borcherds' theorem that the moduli space of Enriques surfaces is quasi-affine. The use of the Borcherds' product is replaced in our proof by an application of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem.
Recent work on the log minimal model program for the moduli space of curves, as well as past results of Caporaso, Pandharipande, and Simpson motivate an investigation of compactifications of the universal moduli space of slope semi-stable vector bundles over moduli spaces of curves arising in the Hassett-Keel program. Our main result is the construction of a universal moduli space of slope semi-stable sheaves which compactifies the moduli space of vector bundles over the moduli space of pseudo-stable curves.
We study moduli spaces of O'Grady's ten-dimensional irreducible symplectic manifolds. These moduli spaces are covers of modular varieties of dimension 21, namely quotients of hermitian symmetric domains by a suitable arithmetic group. The interesting and new aspect of this case is that the group in question is strictly bigger than the stable orthogonal group. This makes it different from both the K3 and the K3^[n] case, which are of dimension 19 and 20 respectively.
Let $X$ be a closed $6-$dimensional manifold with a half-closed $SU(3)-$structure. On the product manifold $X\times S^{1}$, with respect to the product $G_{2}-$structure and on a pullback vector bundle from $X$, we show that any $G_{2}-$instanton is equivalent to a Hermitian Yang-Mills connection on $X$ via a "broken gauge". This result reveals the topological type of the moduli of $G_{2}-$instantons on $X\times S^{1}$. In dimension $8$, similar result holds for moduli of $Spin(7)-$instantons. A generalization and an example are given.
A fine moduli space is constructed, for cyclic-by-$\mathsf{p}$ covers of an affine curve over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $\mathsf{p}>0$. An intersection of finitely many fine moduli spaces for cyclic-by-$\mathsf{p}$ covers of affine curves gives a moduli space for $\mathsf{p}'$-by-$\mathsf{p}$ covers of an affine curve. A local moduli space is also constructed, for cyclic-by-$\mathsf{p}$ covers of $Spec(k((x)))$, which is the same as the global moduli space for cyclic-by-$\mathsf{p}$ covers of $\mathbb{P}^1-\{0\}$ tamely ramified over $\infty$ with the same Galois grou…
Moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on a K3 or abelian surface with respect to a general ample divisor are shown to be locally factorial, with the exception of symmetric products of a K3 or abelian surface and the class of moduli spaces found by O'Grady. Consequently, since singular moduli space that do not belong to these exceptional cases have singularities in codimension $\geq4$ they do no admit projective symplectic resolutions.
We study Le Potier's strange duality conjecture for moduli spaces of sheaves over generic abelian surfaces. We prove the isomorphism for abelian surfaces which are products of elliptic curves, when the moduli spaces consist of sheaves of equal ranks and fiber degree 1. The birational type of the moduli space of sheaves is also investigated. Generalizations to arbitrary product elliptic surfaces are given.
Let P^n be the projective space of dimension n on an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 and F be the image of the Segre embedding of P^1xP^1xP^1 inside P^7. In the present paper we deal with the moduli spaces of locally free sheaves E on F of rank 2 with h^i(F,E(t))=0 for i=1,2 and each integer t.
The moduli spaces of stable surfaces serve as compactifications of the moduli spaces of canonical models of smooth surfaces in the same way the moduli spaces of stable curves compactify the moduli spaces of smooth curves. However, the natural definition of the moduli functor of stable surfaces allows in extra components parameterizing surfaces which do not smooth. This article verifies that these components are also proper.
We study a compactification of the moduli space of theta characteristics, giving a modular interpretation of the geometric points and describing the boundary stratification. This space is different from the moduli space of spin curves. The modular description and the boundary stratification of the new compactification are encoded by a tropical moduli space. We show that this tropical moduli space is a refinement of the moduli space of spin tropical curves. We describe explicitly the induced decomposition of its cones.
We shall study some moduli spaces of Bridgeland's semi-stable objects on abelian surfaces and K3 surfaces with Picard number 1. Under some conditions, we show that the moduli spaces are isomorphic to the moduli spaces of Gieseker semi-stable sheaves. We also study the ample cone of the moduli spaces.
We describe the moduli spaces of morphisms between polarized complex abelian varieties. The discrete invariants, derived from a Poincare' decomposition of morphisms, are the types of polarizations and of lattice homomorphisms occurring in the decomposition. For a given type of morphisms the moduli variety is irreducible, and is obtained from a product of Siegel spaces modulo the action of a discrete group.
A connection between moduli spaces of algebro-geometric objects and moduli spaces of polyhedral objects has been under investigation in recent years. Loosely speaking, the skeleton of an algebro-geometric moduli space is expressed as the modul space of the skeleta of the objects it parametrizes. The connection is based on the combinatorial properties of the boundary of the algebro-geometric moduli spaces. This paper overviews this topic with focus on moduli of curves, admissible covers, Jacobians and their Neron models.
In this note, we describe the possible singularities on a stable surface which is in the boundary of the moduli space of surfaces isogenous to a product. Then we use the $\mathbb Q$-Gorenstein deformation theory to get some connected components of the moduli space of stable surfaces.
We study Bridgeland moduli spaces of semistable objects of $(-1)$-classes and $(-4)$-classes in the Kuznetsov components on index one prime Fano threefold $X_{4d+2}$ of degree $4d+2$ and index two prime Fano threefold $Y_d$ of degree $d$ for $d=3,4,5$. For every Serre-invariant stability condition on the Kuznetsov components, we show that the moduli spaces of stable objects of $(-1)$-classes on $X_{4d+2}$ and $Y_d$ are isomorphic. We show that moduli spaces of stable objects of $(-1)$-classes on $X_{14}$ are realized by Fano surface $\mathcal{C}(X)$ of conics, moduli spaces of semistable sheav…
In this paper, we study the geometric invariant theory on algebraic spaces, and construct te moduli spaces of $\mathcal{H}$-semistable sheaves on projective Deligne-Mumford stacks over algebraic spaces $S$. We prove that this moduli space is projective over $S$ as an algebraic space.
We prove that the moduli spaces of K3 surfaces with non-symplectic involutions are unirational. As a by-product we describe configuration spaces of 4<d<9 points in the projective plane as arithmetic quotients of type IV.
In this paper, we study the moduli spaces of parabolic connections with a quadratic differential. We endow these moduli spaces with symplectic structures by using the fundamental 2-forms on the moduli spaces of parabolic connections (which are phase spaces of isomonodromic deformation systems). Moreover, we see that the moduli spaces of parabolic connections with a quadratic differential are equipped with structures of twisted cotangent bundles.
We study the local properties of Artin stacks and their good moduli spaces, if they exist. We show that near closed points with linearly reductive stabilizer, Artin stacks formally locally admit good moduli spaces. We also give conditions for when the existence of good moduli spaces can be deduced from the existence of etale charts admitting good moduli spaces.
This is a note on calculating intersection numbers on moduli spaces of curves. A codimension 3 relation among tautological classes on the moduli space of genus 4 curves is given.
Let $X$ be a compact Riemann surface of genus $g \geq 3$. We consider the moduli space of holomorphic connections over $X$ and the moduli space of logarithmic connections singular over a finite subset of $X$ with fixed residues. We determine the Chow group of these moduli spaces. We compute the global sections of the sheaves of differential operators on ample line bundles and their symmetric powers over these moduli spaces, and show that they are constant under certain condition. We show the Torelli type theorem for the moduli space of logarithmic connections. We also describe the rational con…
In this paper we investigate the asymptotic growth of the number of irreducible and connected components of the moduli space of surfaces of general type corresponding to certain families of surfaces isogenous to a higher product. We obtain a higher growth then the previous growth by Manetti [M97].
We find certain relations between flag Hilbert schemes of points on plane curves and moduli spaces of one-dimensional plane sheaves. We show that some of these moduli spaces are unirational.
We show that the $n-$th symmetric product of an affine scheme $X=\mathrm{Spec} A$ over a characteristic zero field is isomorphic as a scheme to the quotient by the general linear group of the scheme parameterizing $n-$dimensional linear representations of $A$. As a consequence we give generators and relations of the related rings of invariants as well as the equations of any symmetric products in term of traces. In positive characteristic we prove an analogous result for the associated varieties.
We present a localization proof of the fact that the cohomology of the moduli spaces of genus zero stable maps to projective spaces is entirely tautological. In addition, we obtain a description of a Bialynicki-Birula stratification in the context of Gathmann's moduli spaces of maps with prescribed contact order to a fixed hyperplane.
We investigate the moduli space of sheaves supported on space curves of degree 4 and having Euler characteristic 1. We give an elementary proof of the fact that this moduli space consists of three irreducible components.
In this expository note, we offer an overview of the relationship between Hodge-theoretic and geometric compactifications of moduli spaces of algebraic varieties.
In this paper, we treat moduli spaces of parabolic connections. We take étale coverings of the moduli spaces, and we construct a Hamiltonian structure of an algebraic vector field determined by the isomonodromic deformation for each étale morphism.
In this paper we compute the cohomology of moduli space of cubic fourfolds with ADE type singularities relying on Kirwan's blowup and Laza's GIT construction. More precisely, we obtain the Betti numbers of Kirwan's resolution of the moduli space. Furthermore, by applying decomposition theorem we obtain the Betti numbers of the intersection cohomology of Baily-Borel compactification of the moduli space.
We prove a general criterion for an algebraic stack to admit a good moduli space. This result may be considered as a weak analog of the Keel-Mori theorem, which guarantees the existence of a coarse moduli space for a separated Deligne-Mumford stack. We apply our result to prove that the moduli stacks of A_k and A_k^+-stable curves admit good moduli spaces. In forthcoming work, we will prove that these moduli spaces are projective and use them to construct the second flip in the log minimal model program for M_g.
We construct a compactification of the universal moduli space of semistable principal $G$-bundles over $\overline{\textrm{M}}_{g}$, the fibers of which over singular curves are the moduli spaces of $δ$-semistable singular principal G-bundles.
This paper provides a GIT construction of the Moduli Space of Stable Maps as a GIT quotient of the Graph Space by SL(2,C). As a corollary, we get a birational map from the 0-pointed Moduli Space to a projective variety.
We construct a moduli space of adequately marked Enriques surfaces that have a supersingular K3 cover over fields of characteristic $p \geq 3$. We show that this moduli space exists as a scheme locally of finite type over $\mathbb{F}_p$. Moreover, there exists a period map from this moduli space to a period scheme and we obtain a Torelli theorem for supersingular Enriques surfaces.
In this paper we construct a tropical moduli space parametrizing roots of divisors on tropical curves. We study the relation between this space and the skeleton of Jarvis moduli space of nets of limit roots on stable curves. We show that the combinatorics of the moduli space of tropical roots is governed by the poset of flows, a poset parametrizing certain flows on graphs.
We prove that the moduli spaces of K3 surfaces with non-symplectic involution are rational for four deformation types. With the previous results, this establishes the rationality of those moduli spaces except two classical cases.
We present a systematic study of involutions on the moduli space of $G$-Higgs bundles over an elliptic curve $X$, where $G$ is complex reductive affine algebraic group. The fixed point loci in the moduli space of $G$-Higgs bundles on $X$, and in the moduli space of representations of the fundamental group of $X$ into $G$, are described. This leads to an explicit description of the moduli spaces of pseudo-real $G$-Higgs bundles over $X$.
