In this paper, we develop several Euclidean operator radius inequalities of $d$-tuple operators, as well as the sum and the product of $d$-tuple operators. Also, we obtain a power inequality for the Euclidean operator radius. Further, we develop Euclidean operator radius inequalities of $2\times 2$ operator matrices whose entries are $d$-tuple operators.
Some Grüss type inequalities in semi-inner product modules over $C^*$-algebras and $H^*$-algebras for $n$-tuples of vectors are established. Also we give their natural applications for the approximation of the discrete Fourier and the Melin transforms in such modules.
In an Euclidean Jordan algebra V of rank n, an element x is said to be majorized by an element y, if the corresponding eigenvalue vector of x is majorized by the eigenvalue vector of y in R^n. In this article, we describe pointwise majorization inequalities of the form `T(x) majorized by S(x)', where T and S are linear transformations induced by Schur products. Specializing, we recover analogs of majorization inequalities of Schur, Hadamard, and Oppenheimer stated in the setting of Euclidean Jordan algebras, as well as majorization inequalities connecting quadratic and Lyapunov transformations…
Let $\mathbf{T}=(T_1,\ldots,T_d)$ be a $d$-tuple of operators on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. The spherical Aluthge transform of $\mathbf{T}$ is the $d$-tuple given by $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}:=(\sqrt{P}V_1\sqrt{P},\ldots,\sqrt{P}V_d\sqrt{P})$ where $P:=\sqrt{T_1^*T_1+\ldots+T_d^*T_d}$ and $(V_1,\ldots,V_d)$ is a joint partial isometry such that $T_k=V_k P$ for all $1 \le k \le d$. In this paper, we prove several inequalities involving the joint numerical radius and the joint operator norm of $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}$. Moreover, a characterization of the joint spectral radius of an operato…
A curvature inequality is established for contractive commuting tuples of operators in the Cowen-Douglas class of rank n. Properties of the extremal operators, that is, the operators which achieve equality, are investigated. Specifically, a substantial part of a well known question due to R. G. Douglas involving these extremal operators, in the case of the unit disc, is answered.
For any bounded domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb C^m,$ let ${\mathrm B}_1(Ω)$ denote the Cowen-Douglas class of commuting $m$-tuples of bounded linear operators. For an $m$-tuple $\boldsymbol T$ in the Cowen-Douglas class ${\mathrm B}_1(Ω),$ let $N_{\boldsymbol T}(w)$ denote the restriction of $\boldsymbol T$ to the subspace ${\cap_{i,j=1}^m\ker(T_i-w_iI)(T_j-w_jI)}.$ This commuting $m$-tuple $N_{\boldsymbol T}(w)$ of $m+1$ dimensional operators induces a homomorphism $ρ_{_{\!N_{\boldsymbol T}(w)}}$ of the polynomial ring $P[z_1, ..., z_m],$ namely, $ρ_{_{\!N_{\boldsymbol T}(w)}}(p) = p\big (N_{\boldsym…
The sharp constants in a family of exponential Sobolev type inequalities in Gauss space are exhibited. They constitute the Gaussian analogues of the Moser inequality in the borderline case of the Sobolev embedding in the Euclidean space. Interestingly, the Gaussian results have features in common with the Euclidean ones, but also reveal marked diversities.
It is shown that every even, zonal measure on the Euclidean unit sphere gives rise to an isoperimetric inequality for sets of finite perimeter which directly implies the classical Euclidean isoperimetric inequality. The strongest member of this large family of inequalities is shown to be the only affine invariant one among them - the Petty projection inequality. As an application, a family of sharp Sobolev inequalities for functions of bounded variation is obtained, each of which is stronger than the classical Sobolev inequality. Moreover, corresponding families of Lp isoperimetric and Sobolev…
For an $n$-tuple of positive invertible operators on a Hilbert space, we present some variants of Ando--Hiai type inequalities for deformed means from an $n$-variable operator mean by an operator mean, which is related to the information monotonicity of a certain unital positive linear map. As an application, we investigate the monotonicity of the power mean from the deformed mean in terms of the generalized Kantorovich constants under the operator order. Moreover, we improve the norm inequality for the operator power means related to the Log-Euclidean mean in terms of the Specht ratio.
The goal of this note is to show that some convolution type inequalities from Harmonic Analysis and Information Theory, such as Young's convolution inequality (with sharp constant), Nelson's hypercontractivity of the Hermite semi-group or Shannon's inequality, can be reduced to a simple geometric study of frames of $\R^2$. We shall derive directly entropic inequalities, which were recently proved to be dual to the Brascamp-Lieb convolution type inequalities.
In this paper we prove an isoperimetric inequality of euclidean type for complete metric spaces admitting a cone-type inequality. These include all Banach spaces and all complete, simply-connected metric spaces of non-positive curvature in the sense of Alexandrov or, more generally, of Busemann. The main theorem generalizes results of Gromov and Ambrosio-Kirchheim.
Corresponding to any $(m-1)$-tuple of semi-spectral measures on the unit circle, a weighted Dirichlet-type space is introduced and studied. We prove that the operator of multiplication by the coordinate function on these weighted Dirichlet-type spaces acts as an analytic $m$-isometry and satisfies a certain set of operator inequalities. Moreover, it is shown that an analytic $m$-isometry which satisfies this set of operator inequalities can be represented as an operator of multiplication by the coordinate function on a weighted Dirichlet-type space induced from an $(m-1)$-tuple of semi-spectra…
We prove majorization inequalities for different means of positive definite matrices. These include the Cartan mean (the Karcher mean), the log Euclidean mean, the Wasserstein mean and the power mean.
We will consider about some inequalities on operator means for more than three operators, for instance, ALM and BMP geometric means will be considered. Moreover, log-Euclidean and logarithmic means for several operators will be treated.
We give in this short paper the exact value for norms of two operators of Hardy-Sobolev type acting between two weight Grand Lebesgue Space (GLS) based on the whole multidimensional Euclidean space.
Motivated by Horn's log-majorization (singular value) inequality $s(AB)\underset{log}{\prec} s(A)*s(B)$ and the related weak-majorization inequality $s(AB)\underset{w}{\prec} s(A)*s(B)$ for square complex matrices, we consider their Hermitian analogs $λ(\sqrt{A}B\sqrt{A}) \underset{log}{\prec} λ(A)*λ(B)$ for positive semidefinite matrices and $λ(|A\circ B|) \underset{w}{\prec} λ(|A|)*λ(|B|)$ for general (Hermitian) matrices, where $A\circ B$ denotes the Jordan product of $A$ and $B$ and $*$ denotes the componentwise product in $R^n$. In this paper, we extended these inequalities to the setting…
The optimal constants in a class of exponential type inequalities for the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator in the Gauss space are detected. The existence of extremal functions in the relevant inequalities is also established. Our results disclose analogies and dissimilarities in comparison with Adams' inequality for the Laplace operator, a companion of our inequalities in the Euclidean space.
Let $q(x)$ and $p(x)$ denote density functions on the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space, and let $p_i(\cdot|y_1,..., y_{i-1},y_{i+1},..., y_n)$ and $Q_i(\cdot|x_1,..., x_{i-1},x_{i+1},..., x_n)$ denote their local specifications. For a class of density functions $q$ we prove an inequality between the relative entropy $D(p||q)$ and a weighted sum of the conditional relative entropies $D(p_i(\cdot|Y_1,..., Y_{i-1},Y_{i+1},..., Y_n) ||Q_i(\cdot|Y_1,..., Y_{i-1},Y_{i+1},..., Y_n))$ that holds for any $p$. The weights are proportional to the logarithmic Sobolev constants of the local specifications o…
The curvature $\mathcal K_T(w)$ of a contraction $T$ in the Cowen-Douglas class $B_1(\mathbb D)$ is bounded above by the curvature $\mathcal K_{S^*}(w)$ of the backward shift operator. However, in general, an operator satisfying the curvature inequality need not be contractive. In this note, we characterize a slightly smaller class of contractions using a stronger form of the curvature inequality. Along the way, we find conditions on the metric of the holomorphic Hermitian vector bundle $E_T$ corresponding to the operator $T$ in the Cowen-Douglas class $B_1(\mathbb D)$ which ensures negative d…
A new proof is given for the fact that centered gaussian functions saturate the Euclidean forward-reverse Brascamp-Lieb inequalities, extending the Brascamp-Lieb and Barthe theorems. A duality principle for best constants is also developed, which generalizes the fact that the best constants in the Brascamp-Lieb and Barthe inequalities are equal. Finally, as the title hints, the main results concerning finiteness, structure and gaussian-extremizability for the Brascamp-Lieb inequality due to Bennett, Carbery, Christ and Tao are generalized to the setting of the forward-reverse Brascamp-Lieb ine…
In this work, some new upper and lower bounds of the Davis-Wielandt radius are introduced. Generalizations of some presented results are obtained. Some bounds of the Davis-Wielandt radius for $n\times n$ operator matrices are established. An extension of the Davis-Wielandt radius to the Euclidean operator radius is introduced.
Let $\mathfrak{M}$ be a semifinite von Neumann algebra on a Hilbert space equipped with a faithful normal semifinite trace $τ$. A closed densely defined operator $x$ affiliated with $\mathfrak{M}$ is called $τ$-measurable if there exists a number $λ\geq 0$ such that $τ\left(e^{|x|}(λ,\infty)\right)<\infty$. A number of useful inequalities, which are known for the trace on Hilbert space operators, are extended to trace on $τ$-measurable operators. In particular, these inequalities imply Clarkson inequalities for $n$-tuples of $τ$-measurable operators. A general parallelogram law for $τ$-measura…

To extend the Euclidean operator radius, we define $w_p$ for an $n$-tuples of operators $(T_1,\ldots, T_n)$ in $\mathbb{B}(\mathscr{H})$ by $w_p(T_1,\ldots,T_n):= \sup_{\| x \| =1} \left(\sum_{i=1}^{n}| \langle T_i x, x \rangle |^p \right)^{\frac1p}$ for $p\geq1$. We generalize some inequalities including Euclidean operator radius of two operators to those involving $w_p$. Further we obtain some lower and upper bounds for $w_p$. Our main result states that if $f$ and $g$ are nonnegative continuous functions on $\left[ 0,\infty \right) $ satisfying $f\left( t\right) g\left(t\right) =t$ for all …
We obtain intertwining dilation theorems for noncommutative regular domains D_f and noncommutative varieties V_J of n-tuples of operators, which generalize Sarason and Sz.-Nagy--Foias commutant lifting theorem for commuting contractions. We present several applications including a new proof for the commutant lifting theorem for pure elements in the domain D_f (resp. variety V_J) as well as a Schur type representation for the unit ball of the Hardy algebra associated with the variety V_J. We provide Ando type dilations and inequalities for bi-domains D_f \times D_g and bi-varieties V_J \times V…
We obtain optimal inequalities for the volume of the polar of random sets, generated for instance by the convex hull of independent random vectors in Euclidean space. Extremizers are given by random vectors uniformly distributed in Euclidean balls. This provides a random extension of the Blaschke-Santalo inequality which, in turn, can be derived by the law of large numbers. The method involves generalized shadow systems, their connection to Busemann type inequalities, and how they interact with functional rearrangement inequalities.
An operator C on a Hilbert space H dilates to an operator T on a Hilbert space K if there is an isometry V from H to K such that C=V^*TV. A main result of this paper is, for a positive integer d, the simultaneous dilation, up to a sharp factor $\vartheta(d)$, of all d-by-d symmetric matrices of operator norm at most one to a collection of commuting self-adjoint contraction operators on a Hilbert space. An analytic formula for $\vartheta(d)$ is derived, which as a by-product gives new probabilistic results for the binomial and beta distributions. Dilating to commuting operators has consequences…
In this paper, we generalize some matrix inequalities involving matrix power and Karcher means of positive definite matrices. Among other inequalities, it is shown that if ${\mathbb A}=(A_{1},...,A_{n})$ is a $n$-tuple of positive definite matrices such that $0<m\leq A_{i}\leq M\, (i=1,\cdots,n)$ for some scalars $m< M$ and $ω=(w_{1},\cdots,w_{n})$ is a weight vector with $w_{i}\geq0$ and $\sum_{i=1}^{n}w_{i}=1$, then \begin{align*} Φ^{p}\Big(\sum_{i=1}^{n}w_{i}A_{i}\Big)\leq α^{p}Φ^{p}(P_{t}(ω; {\mathbb A})) \end{align*} and \begin{align*} Φ^{p}\Big(\sum_{i=1}^{n}w_{i}A_{i}\Big)\leq α^{p}Φ^{p…
This paper builds upon several recent works, where semigroup proofs of Brascamp-Lieb inequalities are provided in various settings (Euclidean space, spheres and symmetric groups). Our aim is twofold. Firstly, we provide a general, unifying, framework based on Markov generators, in order to cover a variety of examples of interest going beyond previous investigations. Secondly, we put forward the combinatorial reasons for which unexpected exponents occur in these inequalities.
Given a probability measure $μ$ supported on a convex subset $Ω$ of Euclidean space $(\mathbb{R}^d,g_0)$, we are interested in obtaining Poincaré and log-Sobolev type inequalities on $(Ω,g_0,μ)$. To this end, we change the metric $g_0$ to a more general Riemannian one $g$, adapted in a certain sense to $μ$, and perform our analysis on $(Ω,g,μ)$. The types of metrics we consider are Hessian metrics (intimately related to associated optimal-transport problems), product metrics (which are very useful when $μ$ is unconditional, i.e. invariant under reflection with respect to the principle hyperpla…
A theory of Sobolev inequalities in arbitrary open sets of Euclidean space is established. Boundary regularity of domains is replaced with information on boundary traces of trial functions and of their derivatives up to some explicit minimal order. The relevant Sobolev inequalities involve constants independent of the geometry of the domain, and exhibit the same critical exponents as in the classical inequalities on regular domains. Our approach relies upon new representation formulas for Sobolev functions, and on ensuing pointwise estimates which hold in any open set.
We give some estimates of the remainder terms for several conformally-invariant Sobolev-type inequalities on the Heisenberg group, in analogy with the Euclidean case. By considering the variation of associated functionals, we give a stability of two dual forms: the fractional Sobolev (Folland-Stein) and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, in terms of distance to the submanifold of extremizers. Then we compare their remainder terms to improve the inequalities in another way. We also compare, in the limit case s = Q (or $λ$ = 0), the remainder terms of Beckner-Onofri inequality and its dual Log…
