Corresponding to any $(m-1)$-tuple of semi-spectral measures on the unit circle, a weighted Dirichlet-type space is introduced and studied. We prove that the operator of multiplication by the coordinate function on these weighted Dirichlet-type spaces acts as an analytic $m$-isometry and satisfies a certain set of operator inequalities. Moreover, it is shown that an analytic $m$-isometry which satisfies this set of operator inequalities can be represented as an operator of multiplication by the coordinate function on a weighted Dirichlet-type space induced from an $(m-1)$-tuple of semi-spectral measures on the unit circle. This extends a result of Richter as well as of Olofsson on the class of analytic $2$-isometries. We also prove that all left invertible $m$-concave operators satisfying the aforementioned operator inequalities admit a Wold-type decomposition. This result serves as a key ingredient to our model theorem and also generalizes a result of Shimorin on a class of $3$-concave operators.
We consider cyclic $m$-isometries on a complex separable Hilbert space. Such operators are characterized in terms of shifts on abstract spaces of weighted Dirichlet type. Our results resemble those of Agler and Stankus, but our model spaces are described in terms of Dirichlet integrals rather than analytic Dirichlet operators. The chosen point of view allows us to construct a variety of examples. An interesting feature among all of these is that the corresponding model spaces are contained in a certain subspace of the Hardy space $H^2$, depending only on the order of the corresponding operator…
We obtain a formula that relates the spherical moments of the multiplication tuple on a Dirichlet-type space to a complex moment problem in several variables. This can be seen as the ball-analogue of a formula originally invented by Richter. We capitalize on this formula to study Dirichlet-type spaces on the unit ball and joint $2$-isometries.
We examine the surjectivity of isometries between weighted spaces of holomorphic functions. We show that for certain classical weights on the open unit disc all isometries of the weighted space of holomorphic functions, ${ \mathcal H}_{v_o}( Δ)$, are surjective. Criteria for surjectivity of isometries of ${ \mathcal H}_v(U)$ in terms of a separation condition on points in the image of ${ \mathcal H}_{v_o}(U)$ are also given for $U$ a bounded open set in $\mathbb{C}$. Considering the weight $v(z)= 1-|z|^2$ and the isomorphism $f\mapsto f'$ we are able to show that all isometries of the little B…
This paper studies the behaviour of iterates of weighted composition operators acting on spaces of analytic functions, with particular emphasis on the Hardy space $H^2$. Questions relating to uniform, strong and weak convergence are resolved in many cases. Connected to this is the question when a weighted composition operators is an isometry, and new results are given in the case of the Hardy and Bergman spaces.
In the context of a theorem of Richter, we establish a similarity between $C_0$-semigroups of analytic 2-isometries $\{T(t)\}_{t\geq0}$ acting on a Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ and the multiplication operator semigroup $\{M_{ϕ_t}\}_{t\geq 0}$ induced by $ϕ_t(s)=\exp (-st)$ for $s$ in the right-half plane $\mathbb{C}_+$ acting boundedly on weighted Dirichlet spaces on $\mathbb{C}_+$. As a consequence, we derive a connection with the right shift semigroup $\{S_t\}_{t\geq 0}$ $$ S_tf(x)=\left \{ \begin{array}{ll} 0 & \mbox { if }0\leq t\leq x, \\ f(x-t)& \mbox { if } x>t, \end{array} \right . $$ ac…
In Bergman and Dirichlet spaces, the shift operator is not an isometry, but it is a left invertible operator. In this paper we give conditions on the left invertible operators such that a operator version, in the sense of Rosenblum and Rovnyak, of the Wold decomposition to take place.
In this paper the necessary and sufficient conditions for the product of composition operators to be isometry are obtained on weighted Bergman space. With the help of a counter example we also proved that unlike on $\mathcal{H}^2(\mathbb{D})$ and $\mathcal{A}_α^2(\mathbb{D}),$ the composition operator on $\mathcal{S}^2(\mathbb{D})$ induced by an analytic self map on $\mathbb{D}$ with fixed origin need not be of norm one. We have generalized the Schwartz's well known result on $\mathcal{A}_α^2(\mathbb{D})$ which characterizes the almost multiplicative operator on $\mathcal{H}^2(\mathbb{D}).$
The linear isometries between weighted Banach spaces of continuous functions are considered. Some of well known theorems on isometries between spaces of continuous functions are proved and stated, but all they are in an appropriate form. In this paper, we present some new results, too, and results that extend some of our PhD(1993year) disertation theorems. We hope this letter will be useful for obtaining some email friendships.
The aim of this paper is to study the Wold-type decomposition in the class of $m$-isometries. One of our main results establishes an equivalent condition for an analytic $m$-isometry to admit the Wold-type decomposition for $m\ge2$. In particular, we introduce the $k$-kernel condition which we use to characterize analytic $m$-isometric operators which are unitarily equivalent to unilateral operator valued weighted shifts for $m\ge2$. As a result, we also show that $m$-isometric composition operators on directed graphs with one circuit containing only one element are not unitarily equivalent to…
We solve the following three questions concerning surjective linear isometries between spaces of Lipschitz functions $\mathrm{Lip}(X,E)$ and $\mathrm{Lip}(Y,F)$, for strictly convex normed spaces $E$ and $F$ and metric spaces $X$ and $Y$: \begin{enumerate} \item Characterize those base spaces $X$ and $Y$ for which all isometries are weighted composition maps. \item Give a condition independent of base spaces under which all isometries are weighted composition maps. \item Provide the general form of an isometry, both when it is a weighted composition map and when it is not. \end{enumerate} In p…
In this paper, we establish bounds on the norm of multiplication operators on the Bloch space of the unit disk via weighted composition operators. In doing so, we characterize the isometric multiplication operators to be precisely those induced by constant functions of modulus 1. We then describe the spectrum of the multiplication operators in terms of the range of the symbol. Lastly, we identify the isometries and spectra of a particular class of weighted composition operators on the Bloch space.
The unitary equivalence of $2$-isometric operators satisfying the so-called kernel condition is characterized. It relies on a model for such operators built on operator valued unilateral weighted shifts and on a characterization of the unitary equivalence of operator valued unilateral weighted shifts in a fairly general context. A complete system of unitary invariants for $2$-isometric weighted shifts on rooted directed trees satisfying the kernel condition is provided. It is formulated purely in the langauge of graph-theory, namely in terms of certain generation branching degrees. The members…
We present the current results in the study of weighted composition operators on weighted Banach spaces of an unbounded, locally finite metric space. Specifically, we determine characterizations of bounded and compact weighted composition operators, including the operator and essential norms. In addition, we characterize the weighted composition operators that are injective, are bounded below, have closed range, and have bounded inverse. We characterize the isometries and surjective isometries among the weighted composition operators, as well as those that satisfy the Fredholm condition. Lastl…
We study multiplication operators on the weighted Banach spaces of an infinite tree. We characterize the bounded and the compact operators, as well as determine the operator norm. In addition, we determine the spectrum of the bounded multiplication operators and characterize the isometries. Finally, we study the multiplication operators between the weighted Banach spaces and the Lipschitz space by characterizing the bounded and the compact operators, determine estimates on the operator norm, and show there are no isometries.
We determine both the semigroup and spectral properties of a group of weighted composition operators on the Little Bloch space. It turns out that these are strongly continuous groups of invertible isometries on the Bloch space. We then obtain the norm and spectra of the infinitesimal generator as well as the resulting resolvents which are given as integral operators. As consequences, we complete the analysis of the adjoint composition group on the predual on the nonreflexive Bergman space, and a group of isometries associated with a specific automorphism of the upper half plane.
We study boundedness and compactness of composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series. Particularly, we obtain in some specific cases, upper and lower bounds of the essential norm of these operators and a criterion of compactness on classicals weighted Bergman spaces. Moreover, a sufficient condition of compactness is obtained using the notion of Carleson's measure.
We show that a composition operator on weighted Bergman spaces $\mathcal{A}_μ^p$ is invertible if and only if it is Fredholm if and only if it is an isometry.
Suppose $X$ and $Y$ are locally compact Hausdorff spaces, $E$ and $F$ are Banach spaces and $F$ is strictly convex. We show that every linear isometry $T$ from $C_0(X,E)$ {\em into} $C_0(Y,F)$ is essentially a weighted composition operator $Tf(y) = h(y) (f(φ(y)))$. This supplements results of Jerison (when $T$ is onto) and Cambern (when $X,Y$ are compact).
The spectra of invertible weighted composition operators $uC_φ$ on the Bloch and Dirichlet spaces are studied. In the Bloch case we obtain a complete description of the spectrum when $φ$ is a parabolic or elliptic automorphism of the unit disc. In the case of a hyperbolic automorphism $φ$, exact expressions for the spectral radii of invertible weighted composition operators acting on the Bloch and Dirichlet spaces are derived.
Here we consider when the difference of two composition operators is compact on the weighted Dirichlet spaces $\mathcal{D}_α$. Specifically we study differences of composition operators on the Dirichlet space $\mathcal{D}$ and $S^2$, the space of analytic functions whose first derivative is in $H^2$, and then use Calderón's complex interpolation to extend the results to the general weighted Dirichlet spaces. As a corollary we consider composition operators induced by linear fractional self-maps of the disk.
Inversion theorems of Wiener type are essential tools in analysis and number theory. We derive a weighted version of an inversion theorem of Wiener type for general Dirichlet series from that of Edwards from 1957, and we outline an alternative proof based on the duality theory of convex cones and extension techniques for characters of semigroups. Variants and arithmetical applications are described, including the case of multidimensional weighted generalized Dirichlet series.
Let $T\in B(H)$ be a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space $H$, let $T = V|T|$ be its polar decomposition of $T$ and let $λ\in [0,1]$. The $λ$-Aluthge transform $Δ_λ(T)$ and the mean transforms $M(T)$ are defined respectively by: \[Δ_λ(T):=|T|^λV|T|^{1-λ} \;\; \text{and} \;\; M(T):=\frac12(|T|V+V|T|).\] In this paper, we use several examples of weighted shift operators to prove that the Aluthge and mean transforms do not preserve the class of $m-$isometries in any directions.
We prove a local Douglas formula for higher order weighted Dirichlet-type integrals. With the help of this formula, we study the multiplier algebra of the associated higher order weighted Dirichlet-type spaces $\mathcal H_{\pmbμ},$ induced by an $m$-tuple $\pmb μ=(μ_1,\ldots,μ_{m})$ of finite non-negative Borel measures on the unit circle. In particular, it is shown that any weighted Dirichlet-type space of order $m,$ for $m\geqslant 3,$ forms an algebra under pointwise product. We also prove that every non-zero closed $M_z$-invariant subspace of $\mathcal H_{\pmbμ},$ has codimension $1$ prope…
In this paper, we investigate when weighted composition operators acting on Dirichlet spaces $\mathcal{D}(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ are complex symmetric with respect to some special conjugations, and provide some characterizations of Hermitian weighted composition operators on $\mathcal{D}(\mathbb{B}_{N})$. Furthermore, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for $J$-symmetric weighted composition operators on Hardy spaces $H^2(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ to be unitary or Hermitian, then some new examples of complex symmetric weighted composition operators on $H^2(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ are obtained. We also disc…
We describe the spectrum of weighted $d$-isomorphisms of Banach lattices restricted on closed subspaces that are "rich" enough to preserve some "memory" of the order structure of the original lattice. The examples include (but are not limited to) weighted isometries of Hardy spaces on the polydisk and unit ball in $\mathds{C}^n$.
In this paper, we prove that into isometries and disjointness preserving linear maps from $C_0(X)$ into $C_0(Y)$ are essentially weighted composition operators $Tf = h\cdot f\circφ$ for some continuous map $φ$ and some continuous scalar-valued function $h$.
In this paper, first we study surjective isometries (not necessarily linear) between completely regular subspaces $A$ and $B$ of $C_0(X,E)$ and $C_0(Y,F)$ where $X$ and $Y$ are locally compact Hausdorff spaces and $E$ and $F$ are normed spaces, not assumed to be neither strictly convex nor complete. We show that for a class of normed spaces $F$ satisfying a new defined property related to their $T$-sets, such an isometry is a (generalized) weighted composition operator up to a translation. Then we apply the result to study surjective isometries between $A$ and $B$ whenever $A$ and $B$ are equi…
We give analytic description for the completion of $C_0^\infty ( \mathbf{R}_+)$ in Dirichlet space $D^{1,p}(\mathbf{R}_+, ω):= \{ u:\mathbf{R}_+\rightarrow \mathbf{R}: u\ \hbox{ is locally absolutely continuous on} \ \mathbf{R}_+ \ {\rm and}\ \| u^{'}\|_{L^p(\mathbf{R}_+, ω)}<\infty \}$, for given continuous weight $ω$, in terms of the local $B_p$ conditions due to Kufner and Opic, where $1<p<\infty$. Moreover, we propose applications of our results to: analysis of Hardy inequalities, boundary value problems, complex interpolation theory, and to derivation of new Morrey type inequalities.
In this paper, we completely characterize the order boundedness of weighted composition operators between different weighted Dirichlet spaces and different derivative Hardy spaces.
A bounded linear operator $T$ acting on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ is said to be recurrent if for every non-empty open subset $U\subset \mathcal{H}$ there is an integer $n$ such that $T^n (U)\cap U\neq\emptyset$. In this paper, we completely characterize the recurrence of scalar multiples of composition operators, induced by linear fractional self maps of the unit disk, acting on weighted Dirichlet spaces $S_ν$; in particular on the Bergman space, the Hardy space, and the Dirichlet space. Consequently, we complete a previous work of Costakis et al. \cite{costakis} on recurrence of linear fr…
We give an elementary proof of an analogue of Fejér's theorem in weighted Dirichlet spaces with superharmonic weights. This provides a simple way of seeing that polynomials are dense in such spaces.
The Carleson measures for weighted Dirichlet spaces had been characterized by Girela and Peláez, who also characterized the boundedness of Volterra type operators between weighted Dirichlet spaces. However, their characterizations for the boundedness are not complete. In this paper, we completely characterize the boundedness and compactness of Volterra type operators from the weighted Dirichlet spaces $D_α^p$ to $D_β^q$ ($-1<α,β$ and $0<p<q<\infty$), which essentially complete their works. Furthermore, we investigate the order boundedness of Volterra type operators between weighted Dirichlet s…
We consider various Hilbert spaces of Dirichlet series whose norms are given by weighted $\ell^2$ norms of the Dirichlet coefficients. We characterize the multiplier algebras for some of these spaces.
The Hadamard product of two power series is obtained by multiplying them coefficientwise. In this paper we characterize those power series that act as Hadamard multipliers on all weighted Dirichlet spaces on the disk with superharmonic weights, and we obtain sharp estimates on the corresponding multiplier norms. Applications include an analogue of Fejér's theorem in these spaces, and a new estimate for the weighted Dirichlet integrals of dilates.
The wandering subspace problem for an analytic norm-increasing $m$-isometry $T$ on a Hilbert space $\mathcal H$ asks whether every $T$-invariant subspace of $\mathcal H$ can be generated by a wandering subspace. An affirmative solution to this problem for $m=1$ is ascribed to Beurling-Lax-Halmos, while that for $m=2$ is due to Richter. In this paper, we capitalize on the idea of weighted shift on one-circuit directed graph to construct a family of analytic cyclic $3$-isometries, which do not admit the wandering subspace property and which are norm-increasing on the orthogonal complement of a o…
Let $\{T(t)\}_{t\ge 0}$ be a $C_0$-semigroup on a separable Hilbert space $H$. We characterize that $T(t)$ is an $m$-isometry for every $t$ in terms that the mapping $t\in \Bbb R^+ \rightarrow \|T(t)x\|^2$ is a polynomial of degree less than $m$ for each $x\in H$. This fact is used to study $m$-isometric right translation semigroup on weighted $L^p$-spaces. We characterize the above property in terms of conditions on the infinitesimal generator operator or in terms of the cogenerator operator of $\{ T(t)\}_{t\geq 0}$. Moreover, we prove that a non-unitary $2$-isometry on a Hilbert space satisf…
We show that every linear functional on the Dirichlet space that is non-zero on nowhere-vanishing functions is necessarily a multiple of a point evaluation. Continuity of the functional is not assumed. As an application, we obtain a characterization of weighted composition operators on the Dirichlet space as being exactly those linear maps that send nowhere-vanishing functions to nowhere-vanishing functions. We also investigate possible extensions to weighted Dirichlet spaces with superharmonic weights. As part of our investigation, we are led to determine which of these spaces contain functio…
The aim of the present paper is three folds. For a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $\mathcal{A}$ (R.K.H.S) and a $σ-$finite measure space $(M_{1},dμ_{1})$ for which the corresponding $L^{2}-$space is a separable Hilbert space, we first build an isometry of Bargmann type as an integral transform from $L^{2}(M_{1},dμ_{1})$ into $\mathcal{A}$. Secondly, in the case where there exists a $σ-$finite measure space $(M_{2},dμ_{2})$ such that the Hilbert space $L^{2}(M_{2},dμ_{2})$ is separable and $\mathcal{A}\subset L^{2}(M_{2},dμ_{2})$ the inverse isometry is also given in an explicit form as an in…
We show that, in every weighted Dirichlet space on the unit disk with superharmonic weight, the Taylor series of a function in the space is $(C,α)$-summable to the function in the norm of the space, provided that $α>1/2$. We further show that the constant $1/2$ is sharp, in marked contrast with the classical case of the disk algebra.
In this paper, we introduce a general class of weighted spaces of holomorphic Dirichlet series (with real frequencies) analytic in some half-plane and study composition operators on these spaces. In the particular case when the symbol inducing the composition operator is an affine function, we give criteria for boundedness and compactness. We also study the cyclicity property and as a byproduct give a sufficient condition so that the direct sum of the identity plus a weighted forward shift operator on the Hardy space H^2 is cyclic.
In this paper we consider second order parabolic partial differential equations subject to the Dirichlet boundary condition on smooth domains. We establish weighted $L_{q}$-maximal regularity in weighted Triebel-Lizorkin spaces for such parabolic problems with inhomogeneous boundary data. The weights that we consider are power weights in time and space, and yield flexibility in the optimal regularity of the initial-boundary data, allow to avoid compatibility conditions at the boundary and provide a smoothing effect. In particular, we can treat rough inhomogeneous boundary data.
